The Curious Case of Rachel Dolezal’s “Death Threats” Exposed !

By now an entire nation is aware of the Spokane Washington NAACP President Ms. Rachel Dolezal; and more specifically the controversy of her self-identification as black despite her ethnicity clearly being white.

Last night Dolezal even when so far as to begin proposing that her white Anglo-parents couldn’t prove she was actually their daughter. She seems so strongly committed to her position as a black woman she is even willing to go so far as to call her parents liars:

[…]  “I haven’t had a DNA test. There’s been no biological proof that Larry and Ruthanne are my biological parents,” Dolezal said in an appearance on “NBC Nightly News.”

“There’s a birth certificate that has your name on it and their names on it,” interviewer Savannah Guthrie responded.

“I’m not necessarily saying that I can prove they’re not,” Dolezal said. “But I don’t know that I can actually prove they are. I mean, the birth certificate is issued a month and a half after I’m born. And certainly there were no medical witnesses to my birth.”  (link)

However, lost amid all of the black and white cultural discussion of her ethnicity is the more serious issue of Dolezal previously claiming numerous death threats against her while head of the Spokane NAACP chapter.

At the end of February this year, Dolezal claimed to have received packages containing documents outlining death threats against her. It was reported locally in the Spokane media, as KREM2 shared the story early in March.

A rally to support Dolezal was even organized by local civic and civil rights leaders where Dolezal was presented a salutation to honor her work amid the threats against her.

As reported via KREM2 March 10th – Spokane Police said that this is an ongoing investigation and a top priority, but cannot comment on the case and how long it make take to finish. Members of the Spokane Human Rights Commission want to keep talking about the case until then.

“The people who sent in the package have still not been caught, police are still investigating who they are or what group they belong to,” added Norbet.

Cases involving racially motivated threats do not always get solved. Rachel Dolezal has dealt with that in the past. But members of the NAACP say they are confident they can keep the attention on this issue as long as needed.

“I do believe that we have the endurance that we will be able to sustain this that something will be done,” said Blaine Stum with the Human Rights Commission.

That rally will be around 5:30 p.m. Monday and last until the City Council Meeting begins. Council Members will present a salutation to Rachel Dolezal tonight to thank her for the NAACP’s work in Spokane, especially during tough moments like when she received that package. (link)

Approximately two months later, in May, Ms. Dolezal reported receiving another package FROM THE SAME ENTITY as the first. She, and the media again, shared the story of the new threats and contrast the May issue against the earlier threats from February (reported in March).

SPOKANE, Wash. – The president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP said she has received more threatening letters.

Rachel Dolezal said she first received a letter in March and said the latest one looks like it is from the same person.

Dolezal said she wrapped the letter in a grocery bag to avoid getting fingerprints on it so it can be given to detectives.

She said she did look it over and it made reference to the first letter and was signed ‘War Pig.’ It also included photos of lynchings and a gun pointed at a camera. (link)

Both above links to the media reporting contain video which shows how seriously the community was taking the incidents, and the unnerving effect the incidents were having on the local chapter of the NAACP.  Ms. Dolezal was President of that chapter, and you can learn more about the threat specifics HERE.

However, what is also noted in all of the reporting from February, March, April and May is an exceptional amount of sympathy toward Ms. Dolezal as the recipient of such hate mail.

Given the nature of what now can be considered instability reflected by the current visible behavior of Ms. Dloezal since the initial discovery of her lying about her ethnicity; and cast against the ongoing backdrop of what seem -in hindsight- to be seriously pathological lies and manipulations, something rather, well, alarming is now surfacing.

The original threats were sent and received in February (reported in early March). In May the second package arrived, clearly postmarked from Oakland California, and was identified as being the same origin as the February threat.

In the sunlight of an investigation began by a Spokane Mayor’s ethics commission, tasked with determining whether Dolezal violated policy for a city Police Ombudsman’s Commission position last year by lying about race on her application, the taxpayer funds she used to travel are now subject to review and possible reimbursement.

The first trip Dolezal took on the taxpayer dime as part of her Ombudsman Commission responsibility was a February training session for Risk Management in Law Enforcement.

Within those travel documents (receipts for reimbursement and now public record) we find Ms. Dolezal took her first taxpayer funded trip, in February, to visit…..

……wait for it….

yep, OAKLAND CALIFORNIA.

The unstable, and perhaps pathological, Ms. Rachel Dolezal was in the same place the originating threatening package was mailed from; shortly before that original package arrived in her NAACP office.
