BREAKING: Obama Uses Bush and Reagan To Attack Syria – USS Reagan (Carrier) and USS Bush (Cruiser/Destroyer) And Others Launch Tomahawk Cruise Missiles…

Breaking newsThe Pentagon is announcing U.S. Tomahawk missiles are being launched from U.S. combat vessels to strike ISIS targets in Syria.

A group of coalition fighter jets (fighter and bomber units) may also participate. Initial reports did not indicate U.S. airplanes are involved, however there are some contradictions. It is being reported that 25 initial targets are being announced.

Bombers, drones, missiles and fully equipped F-18 fighter bombers.  The UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are also reported to be participating.

WASHINGTON — The United States and allies launched airstrikes against Sunni militants in Syria early Tuesday, unleashing a torrent of cruise missiles and precision-guided bombs from the air and sea on the militants’ de facto capital of Raqqa, Syria, and along the porous Iraq border.

American fighter jets and armed Predator and Reaper drones, flying alongside warplanes from several Arab allies, struck a broad array of targets in territory controlled by the militants known as the Islamic State. American military officials said the targets included weapons supplies, depots, barracks and buildings the militants use for command and control. Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from United States Navy ships in the region.

The strikes represent a major turning point in President Obama’s war against the Islamic State and open up a risky new stage of the American military campaign. Until now, the administration has bombed Islamic State targets only in Iraq, and had suggested it would be weeks if not months before the start of a bombing campaign against Islamic State targets in Syria.

The strikes come 13 days after Mr. Obama announced in an address to the nation that he was authorizing an expansion of the military campaign against the Islamic State, also known as ISIS. (link)

on Fox at 3:48 am – the former spokesman for DoD stated that Obama had ordered only 1000 tomahawk missiles for 2015 and none for 2016 or 2017 and that the tomahawk missile replacement is not due to come out until 2018 – what are we gonna shoot tomorrow?

I guess not using airspace is one way around the legal questions, but as you say, there are contradictions.

I was annoyed with Gen Keane on Kelly just now, “we need to rally around the president”, uh, not if I don’t trust his target choices! I have no reason to trust O’s judgement on targets because I think he’ll more than likely choose Assad and not ISIS as his target. He’s just using ISIS as a ruse.

I believe Obama acted right now because he had to.

He is about to head up a UN Security Council meeting. and El-Sisi is going to the UN on 9/25. I believe Obama had to act now before Russia blocked him at the UN SecCou meeting…. and a whole conversation about legal authority was about to erupt.

      It’s how he rolls.

This is an attack on Assad, ISIL was just a bait and switch method…Our Generals have even said we need to work with Assad and others to deal with ISIL…Russia was right to block him. How many failed states do we need to create? Lybia is a nightmare now…

I don’t think cruise missiles from the Persian Gulf can reach as far as Raqqa in Iraq so were they launched from the Mediterranean Sea? I doubt Obama would send in manned aircraft over Syria on the first attack in case a plane was lost. You might remember that happened to Reagan and Jesse Jackson had to go and get the ( black) Navy pilot back from Assad. Having ISIS capture a pilot on the first mission into Syria would be a total disaster. Has anyone heard if the attack on Raqqa was launched from the Med or by US warplanes?

Its also the case that ISIS just destroyed an Iraqi Army battalion only 30 miles from Baghdad yesterday sending using 6 six suicide bombers ( 4 of whom were in two armored personnel carriers! ) to breach the battalions defensive perimeter. So, like I like to remind people, ISIS is not the Taliban or even al Qaeda. These guys are good tactically and they have the ability to deploy suicide bombers not just as terror weapons but as their own version of a precision guided munition.

The New World Order money masters are popping the Champagne corks tonight. Their puppets in Washington are off to another CIA created war. Keep rolling up the U.S. national debt and keep destroying the countries that aren’t on board with the International Banking Cartel.

I’m sure Israel will be sending in their ground troops any day now. Just like they have in every other flare-up in their back yard. Oops, they always seem to miss the roll call, don’t they.

The word ROGUE comes to mind….and the military either feels compelled to fulfill his wishes or he has only co-opted officers in the chain of command who are glad to go along.

Any number of opportunists have just been handed the contents of their dreams.

Am I misunderstanding or is the best perceived explanation from those around the administration so far (even though Obama is not going to speak tonight) that we are now (after bombing some factories and munition supplies) going to look for moderate Syrian rebels and WE are going to arm them, and train them over the next year in a country other than Syria to fight ISIS and Bashar (shhh about Bashar though) so that we don’t have to put boots on the ground.

Is this as convoluted as it appears to be? Or is it just me.

    • Spar Harmon says:

Take away the extension into the future and the convolution unravels with it. The convoluted look is to hide the lack of a point. There is no point. The opponent is not really an opponent. The moderate rebels are neither moderate or rebels.
The convolutions are to hold your attention searching for sense in nonsense while events unseen roll smoothly on their appointed way.
Dear Leader and cohorts hold our attention while stealing the locus of the people’s power and cohesion.

Ah yes so “the plan” is so convoluted as to be simply dismissible folly. There are no moderate rebels they are a figment of Obama’s propaganda machine and the bombing/missiles launched tonight are smoke and mirrors

No different than Obama’s break in golf to say “Hey folks, quit beheading people cause it is messing with my golf game”

The next question is when Obama speaks who will he bow to and will he start with an apology for the lost opportunity (due to anyone other than ISIS) to end this without missiles/bombs ? And who will he pass the blame onto for striking Syria and how deeply will he regret that force’s out side of his control have caused the military to use these terrible actions.

Will he apologies more times and sincerely than he will demand that all terrorist activity cease, or will his speech be 90% grovel while he begs for forgiveness and identifies with the frustrations if ISIS, will he mention that if he had a son that he would have looked like an ISIS member.

I am so done with the fallacy of his having America’s best interest’s at heart.

I will not listen to Obama and his spin, I never do as his lies make me too angry.

Obama, without Congressional authority, without military direction, in direct violation of International Law, has just invaded and bombed a foreign sovereign nation.
Will our Congress return to impeach Obama for acting as a Dictator and involving himself in an act that goes against international law or will our Congress return and write legislation which approves the bombings in Syria and makes them implicit in breaking the international law as well.
Remember, Putin invade Crimea, Obama stood and said “this is in direct violation of international law” and imposed Sanctions based on that action.
What will our Congress do? I’ll take bets that we’ll discover which Republicans and Democrats are corrupted and more concerned with politics than with Law & Integrity.

Islamic State will simply do the same thing HAMAS does. Hide in the so called innocent civilian areas. They will move the HQ to a hospital and barracks to the kindergartens. Bombs on the ground.

  18. I am not sure you are identifying the right Naval ships in your article. There is no active USS Bush destroyer. And I believe the USS Reagan is in her home port right now.

  19. inspectorudy says:

It’s not a big deal but the USS Bush is an aircraft carrier not a destroyer.

  20. njinman says:

The aircraft carrier, USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) is currently operating in the Persian Gulf. The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is currently undergoing a Planned Incremental Availability (maintenance) in Coronado, CA. Perhaps it’s not a big deal, but I think worth a correction. The article’s title does seems a bit deceiving, I didn’t see either ship mentioned in the article, although USS George H.W. Bush was more than likely involved in the airstrikes. There was a destroyer named USS Bush (DD-529), it was sunk by Japanese Kamikaze off of Okinawa in 1945, with the loss of 87 of her crew.
