David Simon, creator of “The Wire”…. America is a Horror Show….

David Simon, a former police beat reporter in Baltimore, MD and creator of the popular television series, “The Wire” implies that Libertarians in America are “greedy” and decries Libertarianism as a “juvenile” idea that he “just can’t get past….”

David Simon pontificates about “Libertarianism” with deliberate misdirection and disparaging ad hominems, yet still expects to be taken seriously by anyone with the ability to think critically.

Clearly upset that Fabian ideology is not taking root in the 20-somethings community, while the Libertarian movement is growing as an identified political affiliation in the cohort,  he gave a speech in Australia in November, 2013 at the “Dangerous Ideas” conference declaring “Libertarianism in my country is now being taken seriously as an intelligent mode of political thought… it’s astonishing to me… ” (around the 8:00 – 10:00 mark) and then goes on a screed to deliberately disparage and attempt to dismiss the Libertarian school of thought – including the assertion that Libertarians are “anti-government” (as Moyers chuckles along in agreement…)  Fraidy cat!

He doesn’t address that Obama is a completely bought and paid for puppet of the banking class, the group that are responsible for the gross wealth inequality more than any other, by amassing their wealth through fraud, corruption and graft.  There is more than enough evidence to put the stakeholders of the major US banks in prison under existing statutes if the actual “Just-Us” and “Eat-the-Rich” rhetoric was put into action.

This is a classic example of the dishonesty and deflection of the “Progressive” school of thought, which relies heavily on “emotion” over “fact” – note his reversion to “selfishness” and “sharing” which can only be “cured” by compulsion and coercion, over the Libertarian value that advocacy for individual liberty is a noble goal.

Progressive “school of thought” with “emotions” over “facts” is a misnomer. There needs to be a different name for it, much not unlike the fact that there needs to be a word different from “liberal” for today’s leftyists.

I agree, and would welcome your thoughts. However, to communicate, it’s important to at least start from a common reference point.

I am working on a YouTube series for youth about their future and shaping the world they want to live in — in all the notes I have compiled, it really is a pretty straight forward dichotomy: do you believe in tyranny, or do you believe in freedom? Tyranny involves forced collectivism (as opposed to voluntary, such as how a Kibbutz is organized) and coercion – of labor, property and other assets – including, now, your children. Freedom involves just that – free will, the right to make choices and be held accountable for those choices, to participate by voluntary action and commitment rather than compulsion.

It doesn’t matter what the “ism” is called, or what letter is after someone’s name on a ballot, the central question you need to ask – does this person, or this movement, support tyranny or freedom? Then your choice should be easy.

Atlas can shrug, but here in the real world one still needs an income to support a life and family…. and if one refuses to “pay”, eventually people with guns show up.

Somehow I don’t see the current generation deciding to “shoot until someone loses.”

not completely truthful when it comes to free market (subsidies given to those corps that outsource, giving into larger corporation)
against regulations that benefited smaller businesses in the past, and made smaller businesses profitable. larger corps have an advantage when it comes to buying raw products in bulk

doesn’t differentiate between communism and capitalism. capitalism is a better system, although larger businesses, banks, polluters(externalities) need to be regulated so smaller businesses can profit, bring back production in USA with punishing corps that outsource which would also eliminate unions, but giving lower paid workers a fighting chance so they don’t need government handouts

Yet another …”voice of one crying in the wilderness”. Hardest part I see is prying the infectious liberal mindset from the urban lifestyle. My belief is that when you become totally dependent upon the state for every vital facet of your life, as happens in urban life, you defensively lower your standards of personal liberty.

Should we look to kings and princes to put right the inequalities between rich and poor? Should we require soldiers to come and seize the rich person’s gold and distribute it among his destitute neighbors? Should we beg the emperor to impose a tax on the rich so great that it reduces them to the level of the poor and then to share the proceeds of that tax among everyone? Equality imposed by force would achieve nothing, and do much harm. Those who combined both cruel hearts and sharp minds would soon find ways of making themselves rich again.

Worse still, the rich whose gold was taken away would feel bitter and resentful; while the poor who received the gold from the hands of soldiers would feel no gratitude, because no generosity would have prompted the gift. Far from bringing moral benefit to society, it would actually do moral harm. Material justice cannot be accomplished by compulsion, a change of heart will not follow. The only way to achieve true justice is to change people’s hearts first—and then they will joyfully share their wealth.

Simon believes that Obama is an honest player who is the same man that was elected in 2008, but couldn’t accomplish anything because he’s playing in a “fixed game”. He got two parts right. Obama is the same progressive liberal/closeted socialist that he was the day he stole the 2008 election, and the way the game is played in Washington is rigged. But Obama has accomplished much to further his socialist agendas, while still protecting the interests of his well-moneyed handlers.

Anyone who really paid attention to pre-2008 Obama, including the Obama who campaigned in Kenya for his Muslim, sharia-supporting, Christian-killing cousin, is aware that Obama is a hard core totalitarian. I’m not sure if I would call his personal brand of power hunger, “Communism” because that would dismiss his advocacy for the Umma and his willingness to aid putting the world under the boot of a totalarian, repressive, anti-freedom Caliphate. All of his actions to date are incremental advances in support of that end goal.

Totalarians of different stripes will often join forces when it is necessary to defeat freedom and restrict individual liberty (vis-a-vis the nauseating alliance between the Mufti of Jerusaleum and the Nazis in WWII to destroy their common enemy, the Jews. However, had Nazism prevailed, how the rubber would have hit the road between these two competing views of totalarian control would have been the next front in an evolving battle. Interestingly, the Muslim extremists who allied themselves with the fascists outlasted all of them – Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin – and appear to be resurgent.)

It is also important to be aware that the very term “Progressive” means to Progress from socialism to communism. Socialism is just a mere pit stop on the path to hard core communist or other totalarian control – where the need for power for a few is borne with misery by the many.

He’s no Communist esthete living on beans and stale bread while he plots the theft of capital from those who have to give to those who need – I look at him more like The Kingfish in Amos and Andy (not PC but bien choisi, non?).
He talks about equal dis and equal dat but he and the OL sure pump up their playtime on the public cuff. I’m sure that he and she would sit up in their de-lux apartment in the sky where he’d take the whole pie and decide who got what little slices he deemed fit. You can bet that he and she will be out on the rubber-chicken circuit vacuuming up speaker’s fees and lending his ‘inside skills as a consultant’ to anyone with a wheelbarrow of cash. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him manning the ramparts with the rabble anytime soon – if at all – unless there’s an honorarium involved. He’s a social mover and shaker for sure but he’s movin’ money his way by shakin’ down those who have it. The ones who preach collectivism have historically come from the privileged upper middle class, but they “aspire” to the overlord class. They have no intention of actually living a life of penury and redistributed wealth. They are narcissistic sociopaths who will say or do whatever takes to ascend to power.

“Political activism” and “Dissidence” is wonderful, and necessary, and moral, and laudable … until they are at the levers of power, and then it’s “hate speech” and must be regulated and/or preferably, declared illegal and a crime against “the state”.

Lenin, Trotsky, Marx, Castro, Ayers, Obama … none of them came from impoverished circumstances, but they were all bullies who lusted for control and retribution, but who were/are also cowards – so used others as their cat’s paws and brownshirts.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a detailed reply. Just recently I mused that the communists would be left to fight the Islamists over the scraps, after America fell from within. But, yes, I do understand that socialism is only a midpoint along the road to outright communism. As I ponder this, I have to ask myself whether Zero’s tactic is to use the Cloward Piven strategy to destroy America and bring about a communist NWO or an Islamic caliphate. Frankly, neither alternative sounds that far fetched, since he certainly seems bent on destroying America for one purpose, or another. As you say, the details of his past are key to understanding his present..

It is rather annoying that the descendants of “de slabery” feel that there is never enough confiscation of other people’s labor and assets to satisfy their appetite for cheap bling and indolence.

I had the misfortune of being in Silver Spring, MD at “da first of da month”. The reasons are irrelevant, but I was put in a situation where I had to send someone stuck in a bad situation emergency cash, and Western Union was really the only way to get them funds.

Anyways, I end up in this super sleazy check-cashing, car title loaning, payday loaning, off track betting (OTB), lottery ticket selling “services provider” (habla espanol!) that also provided Western Union services. All employees providing “services” did so behind bullet proof glass. Even the two jumbo screens – one which was showing the races for the OTB and the live Keno drawing were behind bullet proof glass.

The place was packed with urban denizens. Let me just say, I was not a minority, I was the minority and was immediately sized up for a robbery opportunity (another part of the story we won’t go into, here). According to the gal working the desk behind the bulletproof glass, they all commit some sort of welfare check/EBT card scam to convert same to cash, show up at the place around noon-ish, and spend the day OTB and playing Keno until their money runs out.

Yep. Countdown to race would be on the jumbo screen, or countdown to Keno drawing, they would all line up, buy their tickets, shuffle back, watch race/lottery draw, shuffle back in line to buy more tickets. Lather, rinse, repeat. And they were genuinely shocked when they didn’t win.

      Everyday I’m shufflin’, shufflin’.

That song has new meaning for me, now.

      First da month.

    • ytz4mee says:

Well, thanks for dropping by, J. What evidence do you have that Libertarians are “mostly white and male”.

It is clear that you really have no understanding of Libertarianism tenets. It is a philosophy and an economic theory. It doesn’t have anything to do with “race denial”.

The philosophy, for the most part, centers around the idea that individual freedom and liberty is the most important “right”. That includes the right to freedom of association, as well as freedom FROM association. The right to strive to succeed free of the shackles of the “State” – but also the right to FAIL.

As an immigrant to the US, I actually have no quarrel with the concept of “open borders” – as long as any coerced confiscation of labor, property and other assets for state-mandated wealth redistribution and “programs” ceases to exist just like extinguished borders. If you believe in genuine freedom, then everyone should be free to live where they want, and “borders” are indeed a “social construct”.

No one prevents me from exhibiting racial pride. I am very proud of my culture, my heritage, my race – which includes ancestors that were part of the drawing up of the Magna Carta, a foundational document for the concepts underpinning the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The legacy of Western civilization is not a state secret – is a philosphy and creed that is available to anyone, from any race, ethnicity, creed, culture, corner of the globe – to adopt – if they too, aspire to freedom.

And as a trained geneticist who was involved in the early cataloguing of genomic libraries that pre-dated the indexing of the human genome – I can assure you that “race” is not a social construct, it most assuredly is a biological one. The research that supports that view – that there are significant and easily identifiable differences between “races” – is deliberately suppressed or disparaged by TPTB, because, historically, Fabians and the political schools of thought that pre-dated formal Fabianism, used the oppressed minority in any culture to rule over the majority, supported by the treasure and military materiel of the occupying forces. Think India, Iraq…… and now, the US.

A good tyrannical artificially elevated managerial class tasked with keeping the unwashed in line is one that has a long history of nursed and suckled revenge fantasies with a desire for heavy handed retribution and “payback”. The results are entirely predictable – and proven.

Then we realized, it’s so broken, it’s not fixable. Especially the GOP. They are the Whigs of this century.

So, we’re not interesting in what the mainline GOP thinks, or what they want. We’re focused on what comes next, after the chaos that is inevitable in a post-government world.
