Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Breaking the Sound Barrier – Col. Chuck Yeager
https://www.afhistory.af.mil/FAQs/Fact-Sheets/Article/459015/1947-breaking-the-sound-barrier/
Chuck held the rank of Major at that time. On a later flight in the X-1, the Major took off from the ground and passed through 23,000 in one minute 40 seconds after engine start. Impressive.
And on the 15th of October, in 1783 Pilatre de Rozier took aloft the first manned balloon. Designed and constructed by the Montgolfier brothers – who were paper makers – the balloon rose to the dizzying height of 84 feet. Not much happened in the way of aviation for the next 120 years.
The “colonel” is my mistake. I’m not being argumentative, but the Air Force’s article says Yeager was a captain as does this photo…
December 17, 1948, Washington, D.C.: President Harry Truman awards the Collier Air Trophy, commonly rated aviation’s highest honor, to the three men who will share the honor for the part they played in the first human faster-than-sound flight. Left to right are John Stack of Hampton, Virginia, research scientist on the staff of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics; President Truman; Captain Charles E. Yeager, Air Force test pilot who made the first flight; and Lawrence D. Bell, the president of Bell Aircraft Corporation of Buffalo. (Bettman)
Father ,we thank you that your hand is upon our president mightily,we cover him with the precious shed blood of Jesus Christ, and decree and declare Zachariah 2;5 over him and his family..Let the fire of your glory surround them and that no witchcraft,no voodoo,no hex,no vex,no curse no power,no principality and no demon in hell shall prosper against them.Father we ask that you dispatch legions of your warring angelic hosts to destroy every plot and plan of the enemy.Father let your anointing rest strongly upon him at all times and our nation is brought totally back to you.Father ,we praise you,we glorify you in the name above all names ,Jesus Christ,King of Kings,Lord of Lords and soon to return Messiah,Amen.
I adore stories like this. Ya know, each of us could be like the shop owner if only we watch for the opportunity.
A really good little kid . . . What a shame his dad is such a oblivious parent. Most people who have small businesses have stories like this. This kid will remember this act of kindness the rest of his live.
Just a note of caution…one should not assume the dad is an oblivious parent. One doesn’t know the conversations that take place at home. The young boy is well mannered and polite. That has to reflect on someone’s influence. Just perhaps the father is trying to teach his son the value of hard work and motivation.
It is an act of kindness that should be remembered. Let’s extol the shopkeeper’s generosity without disparaging the boy’s father.
I have a suggestion to put this “court packing” issue to bed. Trump should pas E.O. stating that if for an reason SCOTUS needs to be either expanded or reduced that it shall be done in increments of 2 and chosen one each side. One by current president and other by either senate majority or minority leader of other party.
Absolutely no one coupled argue the equity of this process. DONE. We’ll never have to hear about this shit again.
Sure it’s definitely fair.
But that kills the entire reason for
packingexpanding the court….?
I’m walking for Life for my local pregnancy center. Will any Treepers help me reach my goal?

New Wine and the Dispensation of Grace
By Pastor Ricky Kurth
“Is the new wine in Mark 2:22 the dispensation of grace?”
No, the dispensation of grace was a mystery that was not revealed until Paul (Eph. 3:1-3). That means it cannot be found hidden in the Lord’s parables, for it was still “hid in God” at that time (Eph. 3:1-9).
Wine is a type of the Holy Spirit, for both are associated with joy (Zech. 10:7; I Thes. 1:6), and new wine is a type of the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost. You’ll remember that when the apostles were “filled with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:4), men thought that they were “full of new wine” (2:13).
With the parable of the bottles, the Lord was saying that the new wine of the Holy Ghost could not be put into the “old bottles” of Israel’s religious leaders; it must rather be put in the “new bottles” of His “little flock” (Luke 12:32).
New wine is first mentioned in the Bible when Israel was gathered back into her land after her captivity (Neh. 10:39; 13:5,12), a type of Israel’s future gathering back into her land for the kingdom, and so it is associated with the kingdom that was taken from Israel’s apostate leaders and given to the little flock (Matt. 21:43). New wine was withheld from Israel when she rebelled against God (Isa. 24:7; Hos. 9:2; Joel 1:5,10; Hag. 1:11) and was given when she was obedient (Prov. 3:5-10), and so it will be given in the kingdom (Joel 3:18; Zech. 9:17; Matt. 26:29) when God’s Spirit will “cause” them to walk in His ways (Ezek. 36:27).

Ephesians 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Zechariah 10:7 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.
1 Thessalonians 1:6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Nehemiah 10:39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
Nehemiah 13:5 And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
Nehemiah 13:12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Isaiah 24:7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
Hosea 9:2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
Joel 1:5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
Joel 1:10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
Haggai 1:11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Joel 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
Zechariah 9:17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Mid-Acts Dispensational Straw Men
By Justin Johnson
A straw man is not a real man. It scares the birds away because to them it looks like a real man. If you burn down a straw man, you have not hurt anyone. If you think you have, you’re a bird brain.
There are many straw men that constantly get burned in opposition to mid-Acts Pauline dispensational right division. It is a shame when strangers walk into our field and think they are talking about the real issue, when they are not.
Unfortunately, it is often Pauline practitioners and preachers that are to be blamed for setting up these straw men to be burned in the first place. Here are a few things grace preachers say that create straw men.
When you hear these things, know that this is a man of straw that is easily burned. Your message needs clarified.
“Romans through Philemon is to us”
Paul wrote thirteen epistles and they are the books from Romans to Philemon, but finding your instructions is not as cut and dry as picking certain books. The sentiment behind this oversimplification is to communicate the exclusively Pauline location of mystery truth in the Bible.
However, there are places in Paul’s epistles where Paul is not writing about us. Consider Rom 2:17 where he speaks to a Jew resting in the law, or Rom 9-11 where he speaks about a remnant of Israel according to prophecy.
The tools of dispensational context need be applied just as much to Paul’s thirteen epistles as to the rest of the Bible. It is true that in Paul’s thirteen epistles we find our doctrine, but it is not true that everything in Romans through Philemon is our doctrine. That straw man is tinder.
“Twelve apostles for Israel, one apostle for the Body of Christ”
This contrast has the good intention of showing the uniqueness of Paul’s apostleship, and rightly so. There were a specific number of apostolic offices for Israel to correspond to the number of their tribes: twelve (Matt 19:28).
That Paul was singularly called in the beginning to be the apostle of the Gentiles speaks to the unity of Jew and Gentile in one body (Paul being both Jew and Roman – Rom 11:13). There are no tribes in the body of Christ (James 1:1 misses this mystery).
However, it is easy to light a fire on this straw man. It is clear that there was more than one apostle in the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:28; 1 Thess 2:6; Eph 4:11; 1 Cor 4:9). Others were called by the Spirit so to be after Paul.
When you make the only apostle in the body the apostle Paul, then passages such as Eph 3:5 must wrongly include the twelve apostles. Best not build this straw man.
“Paul didn’t preach the kingdom”
This straw man suffers from being an incomplete thought. Paul teaches the kingdom in over a dozen places in his writings (yes, even after Acts 28).
He stayed in Rome two whole years “preaching the kingdom of God” (Acts 28:31). He spends ample time explaining to the Corinthians how sin does not belong in the kingdom of God (1 Cor 4:20; 1 Cor 6:9-10). All saved members of the body have been translated into the “kingdom of his dear Son” and are “called unto his kingdom and glory” (Col 1:13; 1 Thess 2:12).
While Paul did preach the kingdom of God (God’s universal dominion over all things in the Lord Jesus Christ – Eph 1:10), he did not preach the gospel of the kingdom as the twelve apostles taught before him. The gospel of the kingdom is the good news that Israel’s Davidic earthly prophesied literal kingdom is at hand (Mark 1:14). Paul was not sent to preach that message.
When this straw man is burned, people dance in the streets thinking dispensationalism is dead not knowing their brainless victim’s true identity.
“There are two gospels in the Bible”
This is an attempt to combat the notion that there is only one gospel message through the entire scripture, but it does not go far enough.
In the Bible there are many gospels (yes, and only one way by which men are saved). There is a gospel of the kingdom (explained above), gospel of grace, gospel of circumcision, an everlasting gospel (Rev 14:6), and a few others.
The gospel message God sends corresponds to what God is doing, and how men ought to respond. Unless God only changed what he was doing once, then there are more than two gospels. This man of straw is destined to burn in effigial glory.
“Peter went to Jews, Paul to Gentiles”
Many straw men are created by oversimplification. This one will burn for a long time.
Obviously, Peter went to gentile Cornelius in Acts 10. (Although he was sent after Paul got saved.) Obviously, Paul went to Jews in synagogues (as well as Gentiles) throughout the book of Acts.
It was always God’s purpose to bless Jew and Gentile. The key is that the message Peter and Paul spoke to these men was different. Peter was to bless gentiles only after Israel’s rise (Acts 11:19; Luke 24:47). Paul went to Jews out of a desire to see them saved by God’s grace without Israel or their law.
Due to the changing dispensation from God, Peter limited his commission to existing circumcision in Gal 2:9, whereas Paul was a chosen vessel to go to all unbelievers: Jew or Gentile (Acts 9:15).
Conclusion
There are many other straw men that people try to shoot down, while the real issues stand a distance away unscathed. Don’t be fooled by the gunfire, look at what they are shooting.
A failure to communicate will lead to a failure for men to see the fellowship of Christ in a mystery (Eph 3:9).
If you thought any of these straw men was the heart of dispensational truth, then perhaps you need to study these issues out. Your faith is flammable.
If we are ever to make progress in making all men see, we must make clear what it means to be mid-Acts Pauline dispensational. It must be made clear so that people can attack the right target and see if it withstands the fire.
If it stands, then it is true. What should be burned up is the chaff of oversimplification and poor workmanship that creates these straw men.

Direct question, DI. Do you agree with this assertion on religious doctrine you’re putting out in a public forum for people from all walks of life to consider from a writer about strawman and the dangers they propose? If so, how do you reconcile that and the instruction given by this new guy with the articles and writers below that what you posted without comment here previously? Let’s again review.
In a posting here, J.C. O’Hair mentioned had encouraged focusing on “Pauline truth, or “Christ’s truth given to and through Paul” as “recorded in Paul’s prison epistles” rather than “during the ‘Acts’ period”:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/07/15/wednesday-july-15th-open-thread/
This is noteworthy as it relates to this writer’s question:
“What right have we to choose some particular segment or segments of our Lord’s instructions to the eleven in the forty days between His resurrection and ascension, and to apply only these to ourselves or to the Church today?”
Again, the first writer, named O’Hair, appeared to focus “Christ’s truth given to and through Paul” on the “prison epistles” as segments of instruction valid for people today. Yet, a second writer named Sadler claimed that not just the prison letters but all of “Paul’s letters are the commandments of the Lord which are valid for today under grace” — even though Paul himself distinguishes what are his personal thoughts and convictions rather that “the commandments of the Lord” (cf. 1 Cor. 7:10-12), which appears to work against the stated premise (post found through above link).
Sadler added that “Paul says that the things he wrote to the Corinthians, and to the Body of Christ as a whole, were the “commandments of the Lord”!” As Paul used much specificity and much instruction to the Corinthians on matters such as spiritual gifts for the body of Christ (cf. 1 Cor. 11-14), it would stand to reason that per assertions within his article, Sadler would cast those as “commands that are will of God for our Christian lives during the dispensation of the grace of God” and “the doctrines of grace that the Church is built upon and is to live by and share with the world.”
However, a recent post put here from a different author (also named Sadler) specifically rejected what was written about the spiritual gifts from 1 Cor. 11-14 as applicable today:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/09/18/friday-september-18th-open-thread/#comments
Meanwhile, an author named Kurth pointed to “Paul’s epistles, the part of the Bible written to people living today in the dispensation of grace” (quote from first link and post), yet his call for “Pauline truth alone” to avoid “dispensational errors” doesn’t specify all of Paul’s epistles or just the “prison epistles”, like O’Hair:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/03/24/tuesday-march-24th-open-thread/comment-page-1/#comment-7970911
All of this goes towards what was raised by yet another writer in today’s post (Stam) about methods of “ascertaining the Lord’s will for us.” If the writers of an organization evidently aren’t on the same page as far as what sections of Scripture they appear to encourage believers today to cordon off as far as current applicability and validity, what level of credibility should the organization have as far as any specification relevant to “segments of our Lord’s instructions”? This is relevant even more when a second organization with extremely strong opinions is now having full doctrinal posts posted in the Open Thread.
I’ll also put another question that came up yesterday when someone was concerned about the postings in the space. You actually posted six articles – – something that appears at odds comports with posting guidelines — from two purported religious organizations, totaling an estimated 4,042 words.
You wrote in 2018 in the Chapel Thread: “There is another thread we could go to discuss theology, if you want. We are suppose to stay on topic I will post this over there:”
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2011/02/02/the-chapel-door-is-open-part-4/
I’d like to ask the moderators to weigh in at this point, as my replying to full articles in an Open Thread was brought up by someone as the issue rather than the posting of full articles from a religious organization estimated over 4000 words. Is yesterday’s precedent started by DI what you would like to see as a continued focus in the Open Thread? Or would it be more advisable to put religious postings from religious organizations, often with strong doctrinal assertions not necessarily reflected in mainstream Christianity (such as multiple messages against the idea of baptism) lock, stock, and barrel starting with the initial article postings (or perhaps smaller snippets that comport with posting guidelines) into the Chapel Thread, going along with what DI had mentioned in that thread a couple years ago? Would the latter be a reasonable course of action, especially with any number of new arrivals to the site who otherwise might be tempted to make the Open Thread a focus for doctoral teachings and postings of all sorts from religious organizations?
“, how do you reconcile that and the instruction given by this new guy with the articles and writers below that what you posted without comment here previously?”
California author Marianne Manley is fond of saying, “We eat the fish and spit out the bones”. Personally I agree more with the beliefs espoused by Grace Ambassadors. The details of the differences are outlined in the beginning of this message:
This is a special lesson that dedicates 2 full hours to examining the mystery of godliness found in 1 Timothy 3:16 and correcting the erroneous teaching that God manifest in the flesh is you.

Grace Ambassadors Bible Fellowship – Sunday, February 21, 2016
“You actually posted six articles”
I have a folder of original material that I have posted in the past, much of it in an answer to your conflicting point of view. It has not worked, because you keep using verses from the book of Acts, which was written by Luke and not Paul. The purpose of the book of Acts is to explain what happened to the nation of Israel.
“strong doctrinal assertions not necessarily reflected in mainstream Christianity”
God is not interested in numbers – he is interested in truth. Majorities are often wrong.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

“You wrote in 2018 in the Chapel Thread: “There is another thread we could go to discuss theology, if you want.”
Since then my Philosophy professor admittedly has spent far too many hours refuting atheists/agnostics at a website he posts original articles at.
https://strangenotions.com/why-miracles-are-credible-to-catholics/
He has come to the conclusion that most of the hundreds of hours he has spent composing replies has been a waste of his time. Either you are going to believe the verses, or you are not.
Paul repeatedly warns us not to be ignorant of what he writes:
Romans 1:13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1 Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Corinthians 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
So I will just let the verses do the work.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
If someone does not believe the verses, so be it.
2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
1 Corinthians 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
DI, as your sister in Christ, I’d actually prefer that you post a short synopsis of an article and then a link, not an entire article. The postings today are truly too much.
Our brother TMonroe has a very valid point about doctrine being placed at CTH. That is certainly not the purpose of the Daily Open Thread. Uplifting article links with synopsis will encourage those interested to read further. IMO, doubling down and taking over a thread with doctrinal arguments is not productive. One can always start one’s own blog and make reference to it with a link for those who would like to have doctrinal discussions. OR such discussions can take place in the Chapel thread.
Thanks!
Dear Lucille,
Thank you for your commentary and feedback.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
I believe it was early in 2018 that I started posting (intermittently) the “Two Minutes with the Bible” series. Soon after started posting it daily.
https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/category/two-minutes-with-the-bible/
The articles are designed to be published in newspapers, where space is always at a premium. So at the bottom after the link, I added the Scripture verses cited to assist the reader here. Very few people are going to pull out their bible or look up the verses in an app.
I pointed out that fact several times this year to TMonroe, that it is “Two minutes – NOT 2 hours”. Many, many times I have not responded to his remarks, as noticed by GB Bari yesterday
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/10/13/tuesday-october-13th-open-thread/comment-page-1/#comment-8908114
“post a short synopsis of an article and then a link, not an entire article. The postings today are truly too much.”
Point taken. I did that because supposedly there are many people that do not click on links. Probably because they are afraid of not being able to find their way back from where they started from. Twenty years ago that used to happen to me, until I learned how to right click and select “open link in new tab (or window)”.
Uplifting article links with synopsis will encourage those interested to read further. IMO, doubling down and taking over a thread with doctrinal arguments is not productive.
Another point taken. i suppose I could have replied with just one article yesterday per reply, instead of two. In future replies, I will just post a paragraph or two with the link, instead of copying and pasting the entire article.
1 Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
Thank you for replying, DI. Putting in a link for the Bible verses is easy as pie. Just go to Biblegateway.com and choose which version you want, copy the link and post it. IF you wish to put in consecutive Bible verses, group them into paragraphs WITHOUT the numbers which aren’t part of Holy Scripture anyway. Grouping them adds to clarity, which is what is desired in the first place, right?
As I’m sure you are aware, there are many different denominations represented at the Open Daily Thread, plus many non-Christian religions. I suspect that folks have dropped out entirely from this thread and perhaps CTH entirely because their personal beliefs were not represented and they didn’t wish to start arguments. That’s obviously not what this thread is for. Nor is denominational/doctrinal discussions other than something brief, enlightening and encouraging. Dialing down postings a bit will be more beneficial in the long run.
I understand that you love the Lord Jesus and wish to be a faithful follower. Praise His Name for that. We represent Him in our dealings wherever we go. Being mindful of the sensibilities of others is essential, however, especially at an overall secular blog. Excessive and long posts can have the opposite effect from our intentions.
Thanks and God bless!
A small town up the road from me is holding a prayer service on Nov 2nd, Election eve to pray for our country at the town hall. Non-partisan, but doubt many Democrats will show up. It is being hosted by the folks that do the National Day of Prayer events around the country, this past spring it was cancelled due to the Rona. Anyway, I think it is a great idea, and I hope other communities, groups, families, friends will join together and do the same. If you can’t do a group or service, like a candle and say a prayer.
Here’s a vid I just watched, I thought it well done and scripturally solid, regarding the ‘Last Days’ which most believers recognize as the time we are living in, tying the verse with the phrase “last trump” with our current President and all the prophetic alignments going on in the world today- worth a watch imho:

Well life is getting real here in Alaska.
Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz’s future political career just went up in flames. While Ethan has exhibited a typical progressive politicians response to the Covid event: overreacting, seeking (and due to a 9-2 split between progressives and conservatives on the Anchorage Assembly, receiving) nearly unlimited “emergency” authority, shutting down businesses, circumventing the intended purpose of CARES funding to fund his agendas, he has managed to – basically – remain scandal- free in his personal life.
That ended this weekend when he managed to piss-off the woman – a local news reporter – with whom he had an affair…
…and had been sexting and sharing, shall we say, “Carlos Danger” like images via his smartphone.
Ethan is a transplant from the San Francisco Bay Area, and a former attorney, and State Rep here.
As noted, the Assembly is majority progressive. Although I work in Anchorage, I moved out to the Mat-Su Borough (Wasilla area, specifically) so that my life wasn’t run by progressives 7/24.
The chair of the Assembly, a person named Felix Rivera, a man who has been Ethan’s wingman on these power grabs over Anchorage residents and businesses, will become the Acting Mayor until Berkie’s term expires in July 2021.
Felix can best be described with the words “flaming” and “monumental.” He’s gray, not that that the the inherent issue, but he’s got a Denali (that’s “Mount McKinley” for those of you who are Outsiders 😉 )-sized chip in his shoulder, and according to a co-worker, has long had one.
Berkowitz was going to be termed-out with the April 2021 election, so was considered a prime candidate to run for Governor or the U.S. Senate seats. That’s gone, now. Some of the individuals who were going to run for Mayor’s office will now have to face an incumbent in Felix.
I’m really glad, now, that in 7 days, I can eligible for Social Security, my 401 and 457 balances are back up, and I have no ties to Alaska after retiring from my job…
…a conservative working for the city.
“gay”… not “grey”…
Daylight58, consider moving to Idaho. We have a sane (mostly) state government, love the 2nd Amendment and the entire Constitution, and have beautiful scenery to sort of make up for leaving the exquisite Alaskan landscape behind.
We do have a lot of lefties moving over from Washington to get away from the problems they have created; so we’d love to have more Conservatives in the Panhandle.
Unseal and release all of Obama’s personal life history documents/records from the time of his birth through to his election to the Senate.
Requesting for an avid Obama supporter.
THE KEY TO THE MISSIONARY
“All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.” Matthew xxviii. 18-20
The basis of missionary appeals is the authority of Jesus Christ, not the needs of the heathen. We are apt to look upon Our Lord as One Who assists us in our enterprises for God. Our Lord puts Himself as the absolute sovereign supreme Lord over His disciples. He does not say the heathen will be lost if we do not go; He simply says – “Go ye therefore and teach all nations.” Go on the revelation of My sovereignty; teach and preach out of a living experience of Me.
“Then the eleven disciples went…unto a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.” v. 16. If I want to know the universal sovereignty of Christ, I must know Him for myself, and how to get alone with Him; I must take time to worship the Being Whose Name I bear. “Come unto Me” – that is the place to meet Jesus. Are you weary and heavy laden? How many missionaries are! We banish those marvelous words of the universal Sovereign of the world to the threshold of an after meeting; they are the words of Jesus to His disciples.
“Go ye therefore…” Go simply means live. Acts i. 8 is the description of how to go. Jesus did not say – Go into Jerusalem and Judaea and Samaria, but, “Ye shall be witnesses unto Me” in all these places. He undertakes to establish the goings.
“If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you…” – that is the way to keep going in our personal lives. Where we are placed is a matter of indifference; God engineers the goings.
“None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself…” That is how to keep going till we’re gone.

According to my little book on days in American history, President Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14th in 1890 in Denison, Texas. And since he had some Germanic ancestry and October is German-American Heritage Month, we can give him a bit of recognition for that, too.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen
Amen.
A prayer for Justice Kavanaugh and Gen. Flynn:
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen
Amen.
Amen
Among the Saints and events commemorated on the traditional Calendar of the Orthodox Christian Church today, October 1st, or October 14th civil calendar, are three:
The vision of the Protecting Veil of the Theotokos, the Ever-Virgin Mary, was in the Blachernae church dedicated to her in Constantinople on October 1st in the year 911.
The Holy Apostle Ananias of the Seventy, who was Bishop of Damascus and the baptizer of the future Holy Apostle Paul (Acts 9), was stoned to death in the city of Eleutheropolis.
Saint Romanos the Melodist, a native of Emesa in Syria, was an illiterate and non-musical verger at the Cathedral in Constantinople. Desiring to be able to read and chant, he asked for help from the Mother of God with tears. She gave him help. The next day – the Feast of the Nativity of Christ – he surprised everyone with an angelic voice singing a beautiful kontakion (hymn) “Today the Virgin . . .”. He went on to write more than 1,000 kontakia before reposing as a Deacon of the Great Church in Constantinople in the year 530.
