Remember this moment years from now when everyone wonders why Russia has replaced the U.S. in the sphere of influence.  Egyptian President Fattah el-Sisi met with King Abdullah II of Jordan during a scheduled visit to Moscow.  Both President el-Sisi and King Abdullah have been blocked from visits to the White House.

sisi and abdullah iiEGYPT – According to Egyptian presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef, the two Arab leaders discussed counter-terrorism strategies and acknowledged the importance of regional and international alliances in combatting threats posed by extremist and terrorist organisations in the Middle East. El-Sisi and Abdullah II also acknowledged the importance of military cooperation between their own countries and across the wider Arab world.

[…]  Regarding Libya, the two leaders renewed their support to the elected Libyan government and the national Libyan army, while advocating a political solution in the country. The heads of state also agreed on the importance of supporting the Iraqi government in its efforts to achieve stability and unity in the country.
President El-Sisi is on a three day visit to Moscow. He will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin later on Wednesday. King Abdullah II of Jordan is visiting Russia at the invitation of President Putin, whom he met on Tuesday to discuss regional and Syria-related issues. (link)
sisi and putinOutcome Egypt expressed support for Russia’s proposal for creating an international coalition to combat terrorism in the Middle East, where the extremist group Islamic State (IS) has occupied large swaths of territories in Iraq and Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday. Putin spoke at a press conference in the day after having had talks with visiting Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.

“We have stressed the fundamental importance of forming a broad anti-terrorist front with the participation of key international players and countries of the region, including Syria,” RIA Novosti reported, quoting Putin as saying. There is no further detail regarding formation of the front.

During their talks, the two leaders discussed issues concerning fighting against actions of radical groups, primarily those of the IS. In June, Putin proposed establishment of an international framework to create a coalition fighting regional terrorism. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov later clarified that it would not be a “classical military coalition.”
