Ahh, the familiar footprint of “The Fixer”…  You can hear them now:  …‘the first time we found out he was a deserter was when, like you, we read about it in the media’… and the lapdog media will just be OK with that.

 

We notice many pundits are beginning to wonder if the White House was “caught off guard” about the details surrounding Bowie Bergdahl’s desertion from his post.   Obviously, one would think, the White House would have a full understanding of the back-story surrounding PFC Bergdahl before letting Susan Rice say:

“He served his country with honor and distinction”…

The White House had to know Bergdahl deserted his post, did they not anticipate this would come up? Because the way they are handling it suggests they are being caught off-guard.  (link)

(Via NRO) President Obama’s team doesn’t know if Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army sergeant held captive in Afghanistan until his release was obtained this weekend through the release of five top Taliban leaders, is a deserter.

“You’re citing a circumstance with a lot of ifs attached to it,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said during Monday’s press briefing.   A reporter had alluded to allegations that Bergdahl walked away from his post, and asked if national-security adviser Susan Rice “misspoke” when she said that Bergdahl had “served the United States with honor and distinction.”

The Defense Department is still “evaluating all of the circumstances surrounding [Bergdahl’s] initial detention and his captivity, and that process continues, obviously, directly with Sergeant Bergdahl now that he is in U.S. care,” Carney told reporters. (link)

It’s really not that complicated to see what’s at play – yet again.   Susan Rice again took the McDonough political Sunday talking points with her to the circuit.

Those political points are the workings of the inside White House team fraught with removal of factual input, and absent of intelligence feedback.

Such points are forged in the fire of political consideration and devoid of thinking through the consequence to the absence of facts.

Just say whatever the audience needs to hear in order to make the appearance of a good show.   If the background music gets stuck on replay just keep lip-syncing and hope no-one notices.

It is entirely predictable, against the backdrop of the prior week and the shellacking Obama was taking over the West Point speech, to see an intentional desire of the stage crew to reposition the Milli Vanilli-Obama teleprompter on the stage of Military credibility.

Bergdahl becomes a tool.  A file removed from the Rahm Emanuel cabinet labeled:  Use In Case Of Emergency.    Denis McDonough doesn’t actually need to read through the details of the file, because it’s located in the “Go Here For Military Credibility Needs” section.  The cliff note summary is all that’s reviewed.

Add a bit of Ben Rhodes spin, along with a dash of Valerie Jarret, a pinch of Donilon and a sprinkle of Brennan…. and PRESTO !

Of course when this is your general disposition you end up with a litany of contradictions, misspeaking, and pretzel logic ahead of you.

A factual military deserter becomes: “He served his country with honor and distinction“…

It’s important to remember we must continue to consciously remove all prior reference points.   This is a new political paradigm created by the absence of the Fourth Estate.

The absence of the media calling out the White House on the enormity of contradiction -and drawing the lo-fo attention to it- only empowers McDonough/Jarrett et al to keep up this same approach. 

There’s nothing in the foreseeable future which appears to be targeted to change the White House playbook….

… Therefore they have no reason to change !
