DETROIT MICHIGAN – (WXYZ) - Police sources tell 7 Action News that a women’s basketball coach  from Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School shot two men who attacked him as  he was walking two female basketball players to their cars in the school parking  lot.

Police sources say the coach was walking the two girls to their cars when two  men allegedly approached and one pulled out a gun and grabbed him by his chain  necklace. The coach then pulled out his gun and shot both of them, according to  sources.

The man who shot the attackers was 70 years old, according to police.

One of the attackers was found dead in the median on Lafayette Boulevard, and  the other was taken to a local hospital, according to police sources. We’ve  learned that both of the men had attended the high school, and one had been  recently expelled.

Police sources say the coach has a Concealed Pistol License and is reportedly  a reserve police officer. They say he is fully cooperating with authorities.  (more with video)

Unfair: They were hunting in an unarmed victim zone.

Hoodrat thugs are always in season, no ear tags needed, no bag limit, and they can be legally taken using bait. Looks like an old school security plan in action to me. ABC said it was a tragedy all around, but I don’t see it that way at all. It looks to me like the sensible intervention of a man having situational awareness prevented what could have otherwise been a tragedy. Because of that intervention no tragedy occurred, but what did occur is one thug got shot dead and another wounded as the result of justifiable use of force to prevent or interrupt the commission of a forcible felony. Stupid evil came calling and stupid evil got its butt kicked so where is the tragedy ? All i see there is justice.

It was supposed to be a gun free zone, but gee it doesn’t look like the dead thug got the memo on that and ended up with a Darwin award instead.

They should pin a medal on that coach’s chest and give him a bonus, but I’ll bet he’ll be fired and charged with carrying a gun into a gun free zone.

But, weren’t those two thugs surprised when he pulled out his gun and shot them? After all, they expected nobody else would have a gun in that “gun free zone”. Perfect.

I don’t know Michigan law, but I believe Mr. Galt is probably correct, the criminals in this story almost certainly were counting on the presumption that the coach would be unarmed, probably for TWO separate reasons. I suspect Michigan state law forbids the carry of a firearm on school property (and the coach was probably exempt because of his reserve officer status), AND the Federal GFSZA prohibits the carry of firearms within 1000 feet of any school property, to which the coach would probably be exempt due to his state-issued license.

These girls were just lucky that they HAPPENED to be escorted by a coach that was ALSO a police officer. The vast majority of the rest of us do not have that privilege, and I shudder to think what would have happened to both the coach AND these girls if he had not been armed.

For all the NRA haters out there, THIS is exactly what LaPierre is talking about… Allowing ORDINARY coaches, teachers and staff, who are willing, and who are properly qualified, to voluntarily carry firearms. THIS is the reason, and it proves that it would work!

State of Louisiana had so many officials at school and other sanctioned events, assaulted by PO’d parents and spectators that it passed a separate law ‘Battery of a school or recreation athletic contest official’. It can land you up to six months in jail and/or a $500 fine, or if you happen to have a ‘weapon’ in hand, shot like in the Detroit case. Seems a number of states have passed laws protecting sports officials too – one would presume the ‘sport’ in sporting events is a passe concept.

Detroit, all that needs to be said. Why every one of us should be trained, carry concealed and be ready to use your weapon. How long would it take for LEO to get there, or where YOU are? I will take the chance of half a second to pull and shoot myself in such a situation. Give him a raise. The gun haters, progs whine about the costs of armed guards in schools well that is nonsense. How many armed guards can be hired for the salary, including bloated retirement, perks, of a few worthless administrators or bad teachers protected by their corrupt, communist union? Not to mention veterans needing work and volunteers.

“Reserve police officer.” To a prog, and to everyone on TV, that means “cop wannabe”. Reference Richard Jewell, security guard. Inevitably trigger-happy and probably racist, If he’s black, he’ll be called “Uncle Ruckus” after a black character on the “Boondocks” cartoon.

If this ever hits national TV, that is.

Yep, leftist lawyers in Louisiana years ago tested the legality of arrests by reserve officers. Reserve officers have to be state POST certified by attending the same academies their full-time counterparts do and pass the exact same tests. Some tort fart decided to run his client’s hourly billing up by dragging a brake tag ticket given to his client by a reserve officer all the way to the state Supreme Court. It took the Court about 10 seconds to unanimously agree that when enforcing parish and state law under the sheriff’s approval the reserve and full-time have identical authority. If a Reserve officers is killed by someone while the officer’s in the performance of his duties the shooter gets charged with RS 14:30, A (2) and his chances of getting a needle instead of life in Angola increase dramatically. As an aside, I think Detroit should put really large dumpsters in the medians for situations such as these.

Intelligent people will call him mister whatever is his name. All the idiots looking for their own Darwin award will come up with something cute that seems clever to them to disrespect the man. And when that wiseass mentality is taken to its limit as a test or dare then they will get their Darwin award too. You can’t fix stupid, but you can bury it.

They always make a point of announcing when a citizen who is legally carrying a concealed weapon and has just saved other citizens from assault or death is “cooperating with authorities.”

Why don’t they tell us if the thug criminals who initiated the violent assault are cooperating with authorities? Do they even ask?

I already understand that law-abiding citizens are cooperating. I want to know that the criminals are cooperating with the authorities. Recent experience, unfortunately, suggests that that would just lead to more hysterical charges from the media that we are racists.

Up is down. Down is up. Right is wrong. Wrong is right. Good is evil. Evil is good.

    Question to the Treepers:

Does Michigan law (and here I am, in two feet of snow) allow for the “Wrongful Death” lawsuits (and $XX,000,000 settlements) that Team Treyvon are trying to bring back?

    Needless advice:
Stay away from any place named after Dr. King, if you value your life. Avenues, schools, blvd’s, memorial highways, parks.

Have some Chris Rock followed by photos of sadness, violence and blight. With jazz.

Thanks, both parties but mostly the Slaveowning Democrat Party.

I live in Michigan, but I don’t know about the wrongful death lawsuits. I believe there are state caps on jury awards, however. That being said, without knowing for sure, I’ll bet the coach and both of the girls, as well as the perpetrators, were all black. Just a guess based on where the attack took place.

Yes, in Michigan one can sue for wrongful death – actually it’s in the civil arena and in a civil court you can sue for damn near anything. I know a few people who used to clog my civil court filing civil suits left and right, for anything and everything, hoping that one would p[ay off. It used to PO the judges to no end but aside from breathing fire on the plaintiff (or taking out a contract on him) there was little they could do. If you feel you’ve been ‘damaged’ for whatever reason you can wander in to a civil court and go at it, it’s very different from a criminal court. Civil judges drink a lot.

Having watched… I stand partially corrected.

God love these folks, and awaken them from their slavery to (D).

Another video could be made with the same music — and probably has been — with the things I listed and wrongly assumed would be featured in the video (save for the sadness)… before I watched the f’n video.

Police reports, crime scene photos, mugshots, tear gas.

But this video has me crying out to God. These are people, and, again, they need to be freed. Sadly, this time, the Republicans in our Blessed 535 couldn’t care less.

Why would they, sans a reliance on God? Most Congressional Repubs probably think, “You AA’s hate us! Why would we free you again from this ghetto enslavement?”

Because most Congressional Repubs have also abandoned God and mercy and hope in Christ. They have given up the mountain-moving power of Christ for the power of the State, for lucre and the sating of their fleshly desires.

And I’m sure someone could make a video like the one I linked (trying to make a point, but falling well short), showing happy, smiling people — playing games, dancing, being happy, and exuding joy — from any Southern cotton plantation from the Democrats’ past.

Just like that. If the photos existed. As if Kodak had cameras in 1820.

Joy is human. Even slaves, undoubtedly, had moments of joy, which, if technology permitted, could be recorded like the photos of beautiful humanness, in the likeness of God, are presented in the video I linked. Amidst all that devastation and decay.

People in the ghetto aren’t forcibly enslaved, but they have enslaved themselves. I have found that people don’t accomplish things unless they have a mental picture of themselves accomplishing, unless they believe they can, and believe they should. If you can figure out how to put a positive nugget into the brains of the children of the ghetto, you will have set them free.

Keep in mind that the SYG statutes only existed in 25 states at the time the trayvon crisis was INVENTED to not only attempt to roll back SYG in the states where it was already enacted, but also equally important, was the attmept to prevent SYG laws (with their BGI killing indemnity clauses preventing most civil nuisance lawsuits)

Some people like guns…others don’t, BUT NOBODY wants to be a victim of violent crime. The national MSM, while forwarding the narrative that guns only kill innocent children, does a disservice to the public by not covering these stories. It’s possible that fewer up-and-coming thugs would contemplate robbing or assaulting someone if they regularly saw death as a real consequence. I’m not happy that someone died but this coach lived a long life and didn’t deserve to have it ended by some ghetto trash.
