El-Sisi Wins Egyptian Election – Muslim Brotherhood Renounced

There is a profound Irony at play. President Obama, and Hillary Clinton supported the hardline Islamist element within the Muslim Brotherhood and Mohammed Morsi who have now been dispatched in favor of a secular governance provided by El-Sisi. Meanwhile, next door in Libya, the U.S. administration and State Dept. are telling all Americans to evacuate the country as the U.S. supported government is under attack.

Egypt Banner New

With nearly all ballots counted, Egypt’s former military chief has won a crushing victory over his sole opponent in the country’s presidential election, his campaign said Thursday. But the results were stained by questions about turnout despite a robust government effort to get out the vote.

Retired field marshal Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi won more than 92 percent of the votes, compared with 2.9 percent percent for his sole opponent and 4 percent of invalid votes, according to a tally released by his campaign.

His victory was never in doubt, but the career infantry officer had pushed for an overwhelming turnout as well to bestow legitimacy on his ouster last July of Egypt’s first freely elected president, the Islamist Mohammed Morsi. (more…)

(Via WSJ) The U.S. economy contracted in the first quarter of 2014, the latest stumble for a recovery that has struggled to find its footing since the recession ended almost five years ago.

Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of goods and services produced across the economy, contracted at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.0% in the first three months of the year, the Commerce Department said Thursday. It was the first time economic output contracted since the first quarter of 2011, when it declined at a 1.3% pace.

Government economists had previously estimated GDP slowed to a 0.1% growth rate in the first quarter as harsh winter weather disrupted work sites, curtailed foot traffic at retail stores and snarled transportation networks across much of the U.S. The newly revised estimate incorporates additional economic data released in recent weeks. Racist Elephants

Via Neal Boortz  […]  We’re going to talk about elephants. Not the GOP kind of elephant, but actual big-eared lumbering wild African elephants (loxodonta Africana) living in Africa, as African elephants are predisposed to do.

These particular elephants are living in the Amboseli National Park in Kenya, where they have been the subjects of some rather extensive studies by people who extensively study elephants. I learned of the results of these studies reading an article by Virginia Morell of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Let’s get to the (elephant) meat of this study.

The elephants in question are living in close proximity to two different African tribes; the Maasai and the Kamba. The men from these tribes differ in dress, language, and, more importantly, how they treat the elephants. Maasai men sometimes kill the elephants. It seems the Maasai don’t particularly appreciate the elephants attacking Maasai tribesmen and their cows. The Kamba men, on the other hand, are gentle farmers who live among, but do not threaten, the elephants. Perhaps they don’t own cows. (more…)

All Your Children Are Belong To Us – Father Arrested For Having 16-year-old Move Rocks As PT Discipline

Junior did not do his chores or keep up with his school work.  Instead lazy Junior chose to play video games.    Military Dad, who never had any criminal engagement, steps in and has Junior carry landscape stone as PT and disciplinary lesson.   Police arrest Dad for child cruelty based on Pizza guy who called police…..  RIDICULOUS !

Charlie MayesDOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – Police arrested a Douglasville father on child cruelty charges after the man punished his 16-year-old son by making him carry a 23-pound landscape stone for several miles.

Charlie Mayes, a 40-year-old military veteran with no criminal record, told police he used military-style punishment because his son watched too many videos and didn’t do his chores and school work. Douglasville Police charged Mayes with first-degree child cruelty.

“This was done multiple times over a three-day period, sometimes as early as 3 o’clock in the morning,” Police Sgt. Todd Garner told 11Alive on Tuesday.  Garner said the boy, who is only 4’2″ tall, was also punished in-between the 3-mile hikes.

“In between that time, he was at home having to move rocks and stuff from one side of the back yard to the other and then being taken right back out to the same location and dropped off and made to walk back again,” Sgt. Garner added.

The boy’s trek would begin on Kings Highway and end at the family’s home in the Fairways subdivision  (read more)

Late Night House VA Hearing Highlights ….

The House Veterans Affairs Committee hearing last night began at 7:30pm and ended around 11:30pm.   The hearing was held to cover the information contained within the Interim Office of Inspector General’s Report.

Here’s a sense of how it started:

Having watched the entire hearing personally, and listened to the insufferable responses from: Dr. Thomas Lynch, M.D., Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Clinical Operations, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Ms. Joan Mooney, Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Legislative Affairs, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Mr. Michael Huff, Congressional Relations Officer, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, I can tell you the committee has every reasonable right to express frustration.
