We are re-visiting history again in 2013.  A recent Washington Times article highlights a recently published paper from a seriously agenda driven “think tank” member, Arie Perliger.  [learn more about Arie Perliger here]

(Via Washington Times)  A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about “far right” groups such as the “anti-federalist” movement, which supports “civil activism,  individual freedoms and self-government.”

The report issued this week by the Combating  Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military  Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled “Challengers from the Sidelines:  Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.”

The center — part of the  institution where men and women are molded into Army officers — posted the  report Tuesday. It lumps limited government activists with three movements it  identifies as “a racist/white supremacy movement, an anti-federalist movement  and a fundamentalist movement.”

The West Point center typically focuses reports on al  Qaeda and other Islamic extremists attempting to gain power in Asia, the  Middle East and Africa through violence.

But its latest study turns inward and paints a broad brush of people it  considers “far right.” (more…)

(Via WeaselZippers) Republican NY State Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin released the above video showing an attempt by his Democratic opponents in the Assembly to keep a list of their gun control proposals secret, once they had decided on the bill passed in NY this past week.

The list shows how far they are willing to go, even onto confiscation of some guns, as well as continuing the demonization of legitimate law-abiding gun owners.

The daily mail has a great roundup of pictures from yesterday’s Gun Appreciation Day. Unfortunately, because the U.S. media is carrying so much water for Obama on this one, you won’t find these visible realities on TV news.

(The Daily Mail) Thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully Saturday at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter limits on firearms, with demonstrators carrying rifles and pistols in some places while those elsewhere settled for waving hand-scrawled signs or screaming themselves hoarse. Update:  A Gun Store in North Carolina who has paid for advertising, and is now having their commercials pulled, shares this story:

[…]  In a statement, the cable provider said, “Time Warner Cable has policies in place that govern the kind of advertising we accept. Under that policy, we no longer accept ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people. We stand by this policy. If it’s essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace.”

When we asked if the cable provider would also ban similar programming, TWC said no.

“Viewers make a conscious choice to watch particular TV programs and movies, and tools like TV and movie ratings and the parental control features of our Digital TV service help consumers make informed viewing choices for their families,” a TWC spokesman said in an e-mail to WWAY. “Consumers don’t choose the advertising that airs during a particular show, so it’s appropriate for us to have a policy.”  (link)

Yesterday, another break-in and robbery of a house outlined in the Journal News Map.  This is the second such burgalry targeting homes with firearms outlined in the short-sighted map.  It is only a matter of time before the financial liability of the newspaper, comes into the courtroom.   So, Journal News makes up an excuse to remove it….

NEW YORK – Ed Tagliaferri, the executive vice president of DKC Media, forwards this statement from Janet Hasson, Publisher of the Journal News, the New York state-based newspaper that published the “gun map” featuring the names and addresses of gun owners in Westchester and Rockland counties:

WASHINGTON DC – Vice President Biden said he and President Obama will tour the country making the case for gun control laws – the centerpiece of which is a requirement that all gun buyers submit to a federal background check.

Biden, speaking to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, devoted the heart of his remarks to pushing the background check requirement twinned with pleas that state and federal governments share their information on prospective gun purchasers. (more…)
