Black Agenda ?

WASHINGTON DC – Following a four-hour closed door meeting Monday, the leaders of four African-American advocacy groups emerged looking pleased to announce a collective wish list they plan to deliver to President Barack Obama for his second term.

The “black agenda,” as the groups have called their wish list on Twitter, starts with ensuring the fiscal cliff doesn’t disproportionately hurt black Americans. That’s something Marc Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League, has worried about before. But Morial also listed five new priorities that came out of what he called Monday’s “historic gathering.” Those include: working for parity for blacks in education, health care and the economy; reforming the criminal justice system; and protecting and defending voting rights. The defense team for George Zimmerman released the full color photograph of George Zimmerman’s initial injuries received from 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on the night of 2/26/12.   George Zimmerman shot Trayvon in self defense.  However, the highly politicized -State Special Prosecutor- Angela Corey charged him with 2nd degree murder.

Prior to today only the Black and White version (below) was released by the State of Florida.  It appears the State of Florida is reluctant to release information which deconstructs their case. (more…)

“Failure to accept the existence of evil does not protect you from it”

Norfolk Virginia was the location of the Virginia Pilot Beatings which law enforcement refused to identify as a racially motivated attack against two reporters, Dave Forster and Marjom Rostami, in April 2012 by a group of up to 100 black teens.    8 Months later and the Norfolk Police Department continues to stall their release of the audio 911 call from the victims.

In that incident Dave Forster was severely beaten.  His friend, a young woman named Marjom Rostami, tried to pull him back into his car.  The attackers came after her, pulling her hair, punching her head, slamming her head into the car door and causing a bloody scratch to the surface of her eye.   She desperately tried to call 911.  A recording told her all lines were busy.  She called again. Busy.  On her third try, she got through and, hysterical, could scream only their location.   It is widely rumored the background chants from the thugs carrying out the attack were screaming “Justice for Trayvon”.

This statistic, from a BU Today report on fighting obesity, is enough to ruin your morning: “No population in the United States has a higher obesity rate than African American women, four out of five of whom are overweight or obese, according to a 2012 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.” (more…)

HOUSTON—As family members of a man who was shot by a Valero clerk in southeast Houston called for the store clerk’s arrest, the store owner released surveillance video.

Alexander Calloway, 21, and his two cousins were trying to enter the gas station on Martin Luther King and Belarbor around 3:30 a.m., but the store was locked. The young men got into an argument with the clerk, who unlocked his door and came outside, police said.

Someone punched the clerk in the face and the clerk pulled out his gun and shot Calloway in the stomach, according to HPD. (more…)

The initial “Virginia-Pilot” attack happened on April 14th 2012 – During the height of the media coverage over the Trayvon Martin story.   Since then the police in Norfolk Virginia have refused to release the audio recording of the frantic 911 call placed by Marjon Rostami as she and her friend and colleague, David Forster, were being beaten by a group of black teenagers.

Perhaps the Police and media are waging a war of attrition, counting on the new media forgetting the attack.    Alas, they underestimate our resolve.    Where are the Tapes? 

Imagine if the races were reversed and a group of up to 100 white youth viciously assaulted two innocent black people driving through town after seeing a movie.   Do you think anyone would accept the police refusal to release the multiple 911 recordings?  (more…)

BOSTON – A painting that features President Obama posed as Jesus Christ crucified on a cross is on display at a community college art gallery in Boston.

The painting by Michael D’Antuono is part of a larger exhibit called “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012.” It’s on display at the Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery until Dec. 15^th.

The painting is called “Truth” – and shows the president on the cross with his arms outstretched. A crown of thorns rests on his head. (more…)

Across Atlanta Public Schools, staff worked feverishly in secret to transform testing failures into successes. Teachers and principals erased and corrected mistakes on students’ answer sheets. Area superintendents silenced whistle-blowers and rewarded subordinates who met academic goals by any means possible. Superintendent Beverly Hall (pictured above far left) and her top aides ignored, buried, destroyed or altered complaints about misconduct, claimed ignorance of wrongdoing and accused naysayers of failing to believe in poor children’s ability to learn.  This went on for more than a decade.  (more)

Now this newest revelation comes to light –  It was a brazen and surprisingly long-lived scheme, authorities said, to help aspiring public school teachers cheat on the tests they must pass to prove they are qualified to lead their classrooms.

For 15 years, teachers in three Southern states paid Clarence Mumford Sr. (pictured left) — himself a longtime educator — to send someone else to take the tests in their place, authorities said. Each time, Mumford received a fee of between $1,500 and $3,000 to send one of his test ringers with fake identification to the Praxis exam. In return, his customers got a passing grade and began their careers as cheaters, according to federal prosecutors in Memphis.

Authorities say the scheme affected hundreds — if not thousands — of public school students who ended up being taught by unqualified instructors. (more…)
