Well here’s another one – Obamacare Pre-Existing Condition Fee To Cost Companies $63 Per Person – Your medical plan is facing an unexpected expense, so you probably are, too. It’s a new, $63-per-head fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions under President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.

The charge, buried in a recent regulation, works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest companies, employers say. Most of that is likely to be passed on to workers.

Employee benefits lawyer Chantel Sheaks calls it a “sleeper issue” with significant financial consequences, particularly for large employers.

“Especially at a time when we are facing economic uncertainty, (companies will) be hit with a multi-million dollar assessment without getting anything back for it,” said Sheaks, a principal at Buck Consultants, a Xerox subsidiary.

Based on figures provided in the regulation, employer and individual health plans covering an estimated 190 million Americans could owe the per-person fee. (more…)

Listen closely to how the media and the administration are talking about Medicare “overall”.   Listen to them begin to talk about how structurally flawed it is – not just financially, but in substantive structure.

Creeping control.  Listen.

Listen to them, the administration and the media, describe the fraud that exists within the Medicare program.  Listen to the specific word choices.

Listen as they describe the feasibility of cutting the cost of Medicare by addressing the payment side (reimbursement) of the equation, and how they will NOT have to increase payments into the program.   Listen to how they maintain the premise that Medicare Program is structurally sound – it just needs “tweaking”, and they can cut the “overall” cost of the medicare program without hitting the beneficiaries up for increased contribution rates or structural changes to the program.

$18.7 Trillion deficit (ceiling raised goal +2.5 Trillion) and they can simultaneously “save” the Medicare program.   That’s what they’ll sell.   Watch and listen closely while understanding the following: (more…)

His speech will likely extol the virtues of “Obamacare,” and engage in scare tactics about conservative proposals to make  Medicare sustainable. But here are five facts you’re unlikely to hear from the  president, or AARP, about how each treats seniors:

First, while AARP poses as a disinterested senior advocate, it functions as  an insurance conglomerate, with a liberal lobbying arm on the side. AARP depends  on profits, royalties and commissions to make up more than 50 percent of its  annual revenues. Membership dues from seniors account for only about 20 percent.  The sums involved aren’t chump change: AARP’s $458 million in health insurance  revenue in 2011 would rank it as the nation’s sixth most profitable health  insurer. (article via DougRoss)  International Franchise Association held a convention in Washington this week where most of the Radio Shack, Dunkin Donuts, Curves and other franchisers were grumbling about new federal regulations, especially the impact of Obamacare.

…he pulled out his powerpoint showing how funding Obamacare will cut his–and likely their–profits in half overnight. With simple math the small business folks understood, he spelled out that their only choice is to slash employee hours so they aren’t eligible for company-paid health care or stop offering insurance and pay the $2,000 per employee fine.

Barr has 23 stores with 421 employees, 109 of whom are full-time. Of those, he provides 30 with health insurance. Barr said he pays 81 percent of their Blue Cross Blue Shield policy, or $4,073 of $5,028 for individuals, more for families, for a total bill of $129,000 a year. Employees pay $995. (more…)

Yeah, I know this (video) is after day #1, but blah, blah, blah, the same water-carrying conversation happened last with the swooning just directed at “Bubba The Savior”. Whatever. Really, his BS is not worth my typing effort to deconstruct. Besides, someone else already did it.

I really do believe that people can see through this farce now.

Traditionally speaking Republicans are insufferably inept at messaging; the messaging on the Ryan Budget is a great example of their ineptitude.

President Obama takes $716 Billion out of the Medicare Program via expenditures and reimbursements to medical providers.   This is a factual consequence of “Obamacare”.  It is not disputed.   While the argument they should face, and be held to account for, is about “impact”, the factual reality of the shift of the money stands as a consequence of Obamacare and the Romney/Ryan team is correct to hold President Obama accountable for it.

However, the counter point from the Obama campaign is to continually point out that in Paul Ryan’s budget proposal he also maintained these same $716 billion reductions.  Subsequently they frame the Ryan budget as hypocritical.    This is where Republicans suck. (more…)

UK Telegraph – Kane Gorny’s mum Rita Cronin told an inquest into her son’s death that when the police turned up at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, they were turned away by doctors and she was repeatedly ignored by staff when she begged for help for her son.

WASHINGTON – With the Supreme Court giving President Obama’s new health care law a green light, federal and state officials are turning to implementation of the law — a lengthy and massive undertaking still in its early stages, but already costing money and expanding the government.

The Health and Human Services Department “was given a billion dollars implementation money,” Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg of Montana said. “That money is gone already on additional bureaucrats and IT programs, computerization for the implementation.” (more…)
