(CNSNews.com) — The White House will not answer questions about when President Barack Obama first became aware of “Operation Fast and Furious,” a botched sting operation along the southern border in which U.S. officials knowingly allowed 2,000 guns to flow to Mexican criminals
The operation was halted shortly after two of the guns from the operation were found at the murder scene of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December 2010. It was an operation ran primarily through the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF). (more…)
Hat Tip Gatormom – (The Daily Caller) A spokesman for House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa told The Daily Caller the congressman expects his investigations into the Justice Department’s gun walking programs to point to a much higher political appointee than acting ATF director Kenneth Melson. Melson is widely expected to resign some time in the next couple of days in the face of political pressure from Issa’s investigations into Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast Furious. (more…)
I smell a Scape Goat….. (via Newsmax) Kenneth Melson, the acting director of the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms (ATF), is expected to step down in the wake of the “Fast and Furious” gun-running scheme in which weapons were sold to Mexico’s drug cartels. Melson, who has been acting director since April 2009, is likely to resign within the next couple of days, says CNN. (more…)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) today released a report, “The Department of Justice’s Operation Fast and Furious: Accounts of ATF Agents.” The report includes testimony from four Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents offering firsthand accounts about the controversial Operation Fast and Furious that allowed suspects to walk away with illegally purchased guns. Two of the approximately 2,000 guns that ATF let criminals walk away with were found at the murder scene of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in December 2010. (more…)
Hearings scheduled to begin TOMORROW:
(Via HandGunClubAmerica) Last year there were some rumblings on a web forum used by current and former agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF or ATF) about the agency allowing guns into Mexico. As we have learned since then, the BATF claims they were attempting to find the sources of guns being smuggled into Mexico and who the higher-level “brokers” of these guns were.
