A complete and total FUBAR by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and local Atlanta government.  Thousands of motorists sleep in cars and shops; thousands of students trapped in schools overnight. 

ATLANTA (AP) – Thousands of Atlanta students stranded all night long in their schools were reunited with their parents Wednesday, while rescuers rushed to deliver blankets, food, gas and a ride home to countless shivering motorists stopped cold by a storm that paralyzed the business capital of the South with less than 3 inches of snow.

As National Guardsmen and state troopers fanned out, Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal found themselves on the defensive, acknowledging the storm preparations could have been better. But Deal also blamed forecasters, saying he was led to believe it wouldn’t be so bad.

The icy weather wreaked similar havoc across much of the South, closing schools and highways, grounding flights and contributing to at least a dozen deaths from traffic accidents and a mobile home fire.

Yet it was Atlanta, home to major corporations and the world’s busiest airport, that was Exhibit A for how a Southern city could be sent reeling by winter weather that, in the North, might be no more than an inconvenience. (more…)

COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) — The gunman who killed two people at a Maryland mall was a teenage skateboarding enthusiast who had no criminal record before he showed up at the shopping center armed with a shotgun, plenty of ammunition and a backpack filled with crude homemade explosives, authorities said Sunday.  (link)

Huh?   “a teenage skateboarding enthusiast who had no criminal record“… boy, the media sure seems to be softening this…. gee, I wonder why?…. Hmmm, lemme think…

I wonder if now that he’s been identified you’ll see another story dropped like a hot potato?

Remember the Pennsylvania College shooting from 5 days ago?…  that story vaporized too once the shooter was ID’d.   I’m still trying to figure out what is it specifically about these shootings the media seems to downplay.   Maybe it’s just the media beginning to like guns; or NOT.

The story will play into the anti-stop/frisk narrative – Heck, it might even be pushed by them, I don’t care – this is a level of brutality and wrongful conduct – even if it happened “by accident”.

PHILADELPHIA, PA –  He was the only one who didn’t run. Now Darrin Manning may never father children after his encounter with a police officer earlier this month.

While on his way to a basketball game after school, the straight-A student and his teammates had an encounter with officer Thomas Purcell.   Apparently one of the teammates may have said a snide remark to the officer, who then approached them. The boys ran, but Manning stopped and stayed. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” he said to Philly.com.

What happened next is hard to believe. Darrin was handcuffed, frisked, and his genitals were pulled and twisted with such force by the female officer that they literally tore off. (more…)

(Via Daily Mail)  George Zimmerman’s recent foray into the art  world hasn’t exactly earned him much critical praise. But it’s definitely  garnered him some attention – so much so that it could potentially get him sued  by one of the largest news-wire services on earth.

For his latest painting, the man acquitted of  murder in the shooting death of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin has painted  a portrait of Florida State Attorney General Angela Corey, who is the woman who  decided to charge Zimmerman with murder in Martin’s death. (more…)

DETROIT (WWJ) – He’s been dubbed the “Blow Torch Rapist” and Detroit police say he’s struck again.

The latest attack occurred just before 7 a.m. Wednesday in a largely abandoned neighborhood near Plymouth and Meyers roads the city’s west side.

A 43-year-old woman told police she was leaving a gas station when a man came behind her and put a gun to her head. The woman said her attacker forced her into a car, ripped off her clothes and began burning her face with a blow torch.

Police say the victim stabbed the man in the eye with a screwdriver and was able to get away and call for help. She’s currently hospitalized in stable condition. (more…)

$1B coerced from “racist” lenders ….. and we’ve “Only Just Begun” …..

More shocking, civil-rights prosecutors never actually checked the creditworthiness of those borrowers. That’s right, they never looked at credit scores, down payments, debt or other key risk-related factors banks consider to set interest rates. Not for blacks, or for supposedly “similarly situated” whites.

So how in the world can Justice claim “Ally’s specific policy and practice are not justified by a legitimate business need?”

It really can’t. That’s why it relies on statistics to “prove” such policies had a “disparate impact” on minorities, while arbitrarily finding those disparities so “significant” they can’t be explained by chance.

Arbitrary, because neither Justice nor CFPB will reveal its threshold for “significant,” despite repeated bipartisan requests from Congress.

What a clever fraud by your own government.”

The Credit Rating service Fitch notes that it may be more than just a desire to extort from the banks which lend in the auto market:

Teens randomly attacking people on Rainier Ave.

An hour earlier police said the same teens ransacked and terrorized customers at a  Rite Aid off Rainier.  Seattle police said officers aware of problems in the area but are not doing any special patrols.

In fact, the Ethiopian church’s pastor said the police didn’t even ask them for their surveillance video.

A copy of the police report *briefly* flashed on the screen during the TV report confirms that the perps are all black males and females, and the victims white, but the news media does not once mention race, just “teens” committing “seemingly random” attacks.  The media did not find it important to note that the surrounding area (Rainier Valley) is 83% non-white; but the victims are overwhelmingly white, however, they did express that the neighborhood “doesn’t have the best reputation”.

A black woman interviewed is dismissive, chalking the mob assaults up to “teen peer pressure” (Oh! well, okay then! Moving on ….)

You know what is needed?  A “renewed commitment $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ….”  /s/

(Any Town USA)  A walk down the 6-mile city street named for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. yields plenty of images that would surely unsettle the civil rights leader: shuttered storefronts, open-air drug markets and a glut of pawn shops, quickie check-cashing providers and liquor stores.

The urban decay along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in St. Louis can be found in other major American cities, from Houston and Milwaukee to the nation’s capital.

“It’s a national problem,” said Melvin White, a 46-year-old postal worker in St. Louis and founder of a 3-year-old nonprofit group that is trying to restore King’s legacy on asphalt. “Dr. King would be turning over in his grave.” (more…)

The Bigotry Of Low Expectations

It’s one thing to hear  pundits say you are racist for expecting quality performance from a black president, it’s quite another thing for the President to say it….

(Via Bloomberg)  President Barack Obama said that racial tensions may have softened his popularity among white voters within the last two years, according to a story posted on the New Yorkermagazine’s website today.

“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.

“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.
