Who knew something called a “dingle dangle” was keeping an 80 yr. old William Shatner so young?   Just in time for the holidays, State Farm and Shatner have made this PSA on turkey fryer safety.   I’m pretty sure the original intent was to steer folks away from a cooking process fraught with danger, however, the way Shatner plays it does anything but. Sunday evening means one thing at Casa de Rem….runs, then endless reruns of “Holmes on Homes”.  In this episode, Mike makes more things weep than the tile.  He points out that the wife is not a “licensed sandwich artist”, and things go downhill from there.

Seeing as tonight we’ve got another big debate, I thought some of you might like to see what old Mitt’s been up too…now that the pressure is really on.  Well, outside of being sure everyone gets a bit of “old fly” with their pizza, he also seems intent on “stuffing the ice chest”.  Thanks to BadLipReading for the intrepid reportage….and whoever did Mitt’s laugh deserves a raise.

(DetroitFreePress)…Following a fire in a Chevrolet Volt several weeks after a crash test, government officials are weighing the need for new safety rules that could require first responders to drain electric vehicles’ batteries after a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today it had investigated a fire that occurred this spring, after the Volt extended-range electric vehicle underwent a 20 mile-per-hour, side-impact test for its five-star crash safety rating. The crash punctured the Volt’s lithium-ion battery, and after more than three weeks of sitting outside, the vehicle and several cars around it caught fire. No one was hurt.  (more…)

Hey….does this thug in the black leather jacket look like a “youth” to you?  That’s what this Chicago Tribune article insists on calling him and his fellow goons.   This assault occurred last April, but it only recently surfaced on the internet.  Guess it’s just another day in Chicagoland.   Hey Obama….WASSUP?  (Story below the video.)

I’ve got a confession to make.  I’m finding it harder and harder to maintain my concentrated dislike for Newt Gingrich.  For a while now, I’ve kept a list of Newt’s transgressions close to my heart.  Tops on my list was that infamous picture of Newt not only playing cutesy with Nancy on the sofa,  but flirting with the likes of anthropogenic climate change.  This picture would become seared in my memory.
Farther down the list, we run into Newt’s backing of Obamacare’s Individual Mandate in requiring citizens to buy health insurance.  Conservatives referred to his comments…“Sandbagging your fellow Republicans in Congress and offering tacit support for a key (unconstitutional) component of Obamacare is a very strange way to begin a run in a Republican primary. Not a strong start.”  Early in 2011 Newt continued to anger me when he criticized the Ryan Plan for its arbitrary cut-off of those under the age of 55.  (more…)

This coming Wednesday, November 9th…for the first time ever, all radio and TV/cable networks will simultaneously participate in a nationwide test of the emergency alert system (EAS).  For the first time ever, their participation will be mandatory as well…all accomplished by Executive Order #13407.  Considering we made it through 9/11 without resorting to such measures, what could Mr. Obama and the Director of FEMA, who has been delegated authority over the program, possibly see as the trigger to necessitate its real usage in the future?  (more…)

I stepped out of my car on a sunny 90 degree Phoenix afternoon, but it soon felt closer to 100 degrees by the time I reached the all cement environs of Cesar Chavez Plaza.   A quick scan showed about seven or eight makeshift tents, but I was soon told that these were not really tents.  They were “canopies”, since neither tents, blankets, pillows, or sleeping bags were allowed by the Phoenix Police.  I was most surprised to see only about 40-50 people milling around the site, hardly the numbers nearing the thousand reported on October 15th, the first night of the Occupation.   I’ve since found out the group has several teams of roughly 40-50 people who show up in  planned rotations.  (more…)

What we saw at the “revolution”…
(ConservARTive)…Many curious citizens and media outlets came to the first Occupy Atlanta event, and were visible shocked and confused by the consistent Marxism employed by the group. People abandoned their individuality and liberty to be absorbed into a hypnotizing collective. The facilitator made it clear that he was not a “leader” and that everyone was completely equal; words often spoken by leftists, but in this case they actually applied their philosophy. (more…)
