Morning, Garrison 😘☕ Dear oh dear, another week has sailed by. I blinked only twice and suddenly it’s CURSDAY once again. So here come our friends in all shapes and sizes…there’s someone for everyone 💕
(As an aside, my sweet freshman granddaughter texted me the other day and asked that I send her music which I like, which I have. Very eclectic choices. I am going to start sending her your selections so she can familiarize herself with the lovely works and artists you post. I expect I’ll get quite a few 💕 💕 💕 when I do.)

13 years ago today my wife and I were standing at the side of the road in front of our home waiting for transportation. It was just past 8am. She yelled out EARTHQUAKE but I didn’t feel it at first. Then the ground started swaying.
A couple of seconds later it really took off. The ground was jerking side to side and we got to our gate and held on. Neither of us had been in anything like this. The sound of things falling and collapsing was everywhere.
34 seconds later it stopped but it still felt like things were moving. People had moved up to the road. Many were crying. After checking on then we went back inside. Fortunately our house escaped serious damage. Lots of broken items though. Aftershocks were constant.
This was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that was shallow and we were just 20 km from the epicenter. Amazingly the cellular network was still up so we checked on others. The town had suffered serious damage including the collapse of the only grocery store among many other structures. I took stock of our food and water and planned on a long survival period.
Unfortunately a storm was brewing in the Pacific that became super typhoon Haiyan which hit three weeks later. We were able to survive thanks to God’s blessings and the resilience of people willing to help. Power was finally restored in December, just in time for Christmas.
