Margaret Brennan asks Energy Secretary Chris Wright to tell her about U.S. troop and military deployments to the Middle East, and whether President Trump is going to “escalate” military operations in the region. Yeah, she asked about that; as if the Energy Secretary would even talk about it on television if he knew.
Unfortunately, this remains the outlook of U.S. media. Energy Secretary Chris Wright told “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that President Trump was “well aware of the risks to energy flows” before launching the Iran war, but he said the president said, “the world cannot sustain a nuclear-armed Iran, and I’m not going to do it.” WATCH:
[Transcript] – MARGARET BRENNAN: Good morning, and welcome to Face the Nation. We begin with one of the Trump administration officials tasked with working to lower those high gas and oil prices, Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Good morning to you.
SECRETARY OF ENERGY CHRIS WRIGHT: Good morning, Margaret.
MARGARET BRENNAN: So, it’s good to have you here. You said this past week that Americans can expect lower gasoline prices and diesel prices by election day. The Wall Street Journal editorial board has a piece outlining that the campaign to squeeze around financially is working, but they can still knock out significant Gulf energy infrastructure. They could be planning an October surprise before the U.S. midterms. We are still seeing Iranian attacks on ships now. I mean, how can you be so confident prices are headed down?
SEC. WRIGHT: Well, because we’ve got increasing supplies coming out of the Strait of Hormuz and they’ve continued to rise over the last months, over the last recent weeks. We’ve got U.S. gasoline production today at record high. We have demand for gasoline, as we come out of the summer driving scene, starting to go down. Similar stories with diesel. Diesel’s mostly been infected by the Russia-Ukraine war and also by China’s decision not to export diesel or gasoline into the marketplace. And of course, we’re living with two refineries that were recently closed, large refineries in California that Gavin Newsom forced the closure of. And frankly, 15 years of Democrat policies that have been energy subtraction, trying to close coal plants, close refineries, and shrink our capacity. Which means when you get in crisis, we’re just less resilient than we should be.
MARGARET BRENNAN: But you still think that in the next four weeks prices are going to go down?
SEC. WRIGHT: Absolutely. Diesel prices have been going down. Gasoline prices have been going down. I expect that to continue.
MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to talk about diesel in a minute, but I- I was reading that the U.S. was sending more defensive equipment to the Gulf countries to protect their oil infrastructure. I see there was a gathering of national security advisers at Camp David on Friday to talk about Iran and the conflict in Yemen. Can you share any outcome from that? I mean, is- is the U.S. about to escalate? We did just see a third carrier strike group get sent to the region.
SEC. WRIGHT: Look, the president has- has taken a strong stand that Iran, the world’s greatest terrorist regime- regime, cannot and will not have nuclear weapons. So, of course, we’re looking at every avenue to achieve that goal economically, to be prepared for what comes militarily. But we cannot pass to the next administration an Iran armed with nuclear weapons. Not only is that a threat to peace and stability–
MARGARET BRENNAN: Right.
SEC. WRIGHT: –that’s a massive long-term threat to energy prices.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Right, but he’s also said that they’re not seeking a nuclear weapon. He said that just the other day that they might have actually already stopped. But in the immediate sense of threats to our neighbors who have refinery and production capacity, how do you guarantee that there is no October surprise that sends those prices going the opposite direction?
SEC. WRIGHT: Hey, well, there’s no guarantees. There’s no guarantees in conflict. There’s no guarantees in life. But everything we’re doing is to grow the supply of diesel, to grow the supply of gasoline, and frankly, again, to reverse years of policies that have been directed exactly the opposite, to shrink our ability to produce, refine, and deliver hydrocarbons.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Can you say whether the president has decided he will escalate post-election day? That’s when that third carrier strike group will be arriving, mid-November.
SEC. WRIGHT: Oh, I’m definitely not going to get in front of presidents’ plans or policies. But remember–
MARGARET BRENNAN: He’d thrown that out there himself.
SEC. WRIGHT: He’s- he’s always planning for contingencies and he’s always negotiating. How you communicate, what you- what you lean in on, it sends a message to the other side. He’s been a master, a master at doing that.
MARGARET BRENNAN: So he’s got both tracks still going, diplomatic and military pressure?
SEC. WRIGHT: Of course, of course. At all times.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Okay, you talked about diesel. The world’s wealthiest countries, the G7, this past week agreed to release 100 million barrels of fuel over four months. They’re going to front load it with a lot of diesel in the next 20 days. I know you asked our friends and allies to consider doing this. How significant a price impact and for how long?
SEC. WRIGHT: It’s a big deal. It’s a big deal. Europe has very large diesel stores. They, you know, they don’t refine enough diesel to supply their own economies, so naturally they store a lot of diesel. They’re very keen to see American diesel continue to flow to Europe. They’ve got a lot of diesel in stores. Why not release some of that? This is what you store diesel for. When all the Russian exports of diesel are shut down, when the Chinese have said we’re not going to deliver any more diesel, and you still have a reduction of diesel flows coming out of the Gulf, but we’re restoring those, but that takes time. This is just common sense. This lowers diesel prices, not just in the United States, but it lowers them in Europe and around the world. But it will drive diesel prices down as those releases come. It’ll drive diesel down through the winter in the United States and around the world. And- and by then we’ll be in another place. We’ll have more refining capacity online. I- I suspect we’ll continue to see diesel decline as we go into next spring as well.
MARGARET BRENNAN: So below six bucks? Which is where it is.
SEC. WRIGHT: Yes.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Yeah. By post-midterms?
[CROSSTALK]
SEC. WRIGHT: It’s- it’s down a little over 20 cents so far.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Yeah.
SEC. WRIGHT: I think you’ll see it continue to go down. Yeah, you should see it below $6 before too long. But exactly when, I certainly don’t know that.
MARGARET BRENNAN: So the allies did this after President Trump said he was considering a diesel export ban. You had so many quotes where you were telling people, “This was not a good idea.” “Let’s not do a diesel export ban.” But the president kept saying it was a consideration. Has he completely ruled out an export ban at this point?
SEC. WRIGHT: Look, every day he’s throwing out ideas. He’s engaging with discussions with me, others in the administration–
MARGARET BRENNAN: Even when you’re saying it’s not a good idea?
SEC. WRIGHT: Absolutely. No, he- he- he’s–
MARGARET BRENNAN: But you’re the expert.
SEC. WRIGHT: –he says well- well, but there’s different ways to slice this cat. There’s different ways to look at it. He’s always looking, “How do I lower energy prices? How do I lower heating prices, electricity prices, gasoline prices, diesel prices?” In fact, I would say his constant communication of that may have been quite helpful in achieving- in achieving the deal we just struck.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Because people thought he might actually not listen to you and go ahead and do it?
SEC. WRIGHT: I–
MARGARET BRENNAN: That was the- the ploy, essentially?
SEC. WRIGHT: It wasn’t a ploy. It’s just a constant dialog about the many levers we have. How can we drive down diesel prices and drive down gasoline and other prices along with it?
MARGARET BRENNAN: So we checked, and it looks like because of this Lindsey Graham bill that gives the president more, sort of, powers to punish the buyers of Russian fuel, he has to make a decision by October the 18th as to whether he’s going to put tariffs on the biggest buyers. That would be China, and that would be India. Is he going to do that?
SEC. WRIGHT: Look, he- he leaves every decision till the end. He’ll evaluate the trade-offs. He has worked ceaselessly to try to end this war. Not only would end- would ending this war end the killing of- of tens and of thousands of people every month, it would dramatically lower energy prices. He’s wanted to end that conflict, yes, since before he was president. So, and- and there is constant, constant dialogs with both sides in that to try to bring that war to an end.
MARGARET BRENNAN: But at this point, like, what’s the direction here? You just had this big state visit. Are we actually in a position where the U.S. might put tariffs on China for buying Russian oil? Are we actually going to see that, and what impact would that have?
SEC. WRIGHT: Again, I won’t get in front of the president on that. We’re trying to have the best relations we can–
MARGARET BRENNAN: I’m sure you’ve looked at the projections on what it would do for pricing.
SEC. WRIGHT: Of course, we’re trying to have great relations with China and move that ball forward. I think things are going reasonably well there. But then the flip side is you’ve got to look at every leverage you’ve got to bring a murderous conflict to an end.
MARGARET BRENNAN: So he may and you would encourage him to?
SEC. WRIGHT: I’m not going to say- I’m not going to say on–
MARGARET BRENNAN: Okay.
SEC. WRIGHT: –either one of those. He’s- he’s looking to how to end that conflict and how to lower prices for Americans every day.
MARGARET BRENNAN: Yeah. Well, the date just stood out, you know, weeks before the midterms, doing something that could arguably push prices back up. And so, if it’s a national security decision versus a political one. Be interested to know your point of view.
[CROSSTALK]
SEC. WRIGHT: If his decisions were political he would have just kicked the can down the road and delivered a nuclear-armed Iran to the next president. You’ve got to respect that. That’s an incredible move to lean in and say I’m not going to let them become nuclear-armed. He knew it was going to elevate energy prices in the short run. He said, “I’m going to take a hit there, but I got to do the right thing.”
MARGARET BRENNAN: You did tell him that? That there would be a huge energy price spike when he made the decision.
SEC. WRIGHT: He- he was well aware of- of the risk to energy flows that were coming out of the Persian Gulf region. He said, “I simply cannot. The world cannot sustain a nuclear-armed Iran, and I’m not going to do it.”
MARGARET BRENNAN: Secretary Wright, thank you for your time today.
SEC. WRIGHT: Thank you, Margaret.

He should’ve responded: What about John Brennan? You both are family. When is he reporting to prison?
Wow. That’s a bit of info.
Where did you get that Marge and John are related?
0.o
That was a joke.
Oh.
Ya never know around here . . .
0.o
She doesn’t look Irish.
Neither does her husband, Yado Yakub.
Her name should be Margaret Yakub.
A lie to to hide from for CBS an MSM for truth seekers.
Last month CENTCOM had already explained that the new carrier group deployment was a rotation not an escalation.
The news media pretended not to know that last week “reporting” that it’s an escalation in order to attack Iran which caused oil to go up from $88 to $92.
We are at the mercy of FAKE NEWS around anything related to Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, tanker attacks by IRGC whether they are true or not. As soon as the news hits the oil price goes up, bond interest rates go up and the stock market goes down. The people and entities who hate us the most are driving the economy.
The MSM is an enemy of the American people. They’re all controlled by globalist leftist. Haven’t watched any TV news of any kind for several years. This Margaret Bennan is really a pathetically ignorant sow
‘The MSM is an enemy of the American people. They’re all controlled by globalist leftist.’
Media is steered by the programs that grew from Operation Mockingbird, influential globalists and others are steered by the same agency based in zip code 22101 whether they realize it or not.
All three broadcast network Sunday shows treat republicans terribly and democrats lovingly.
Revoke the broadcast license from all three.
“Face The Democrat”
“Deface the Nation” would be a more accurate name for this show.
Maybe the Republicans should go on Fox News only and get softball interviews?
Fox News is the most insidious. Fox is globalist establishment neo-CON and are very effective at tricking republicans to work against their own best interest… especially aged 55+ republicans.
I could go on forever about how Fox betrays American Citizens. Fox has been doing it since day one. Total psyop.
Go on, I’d like to hear more. Jessy Waters is all I listen to anymore and I find him pretty much spot on. What are the rest doing that is a sysop or psyop and a betrayal of the American Citizen. Not being sarcastic, I’m truly interested.
I’m going to keep this short and basic. Not going to do a wall of text and want to leave opportunity for others to contribute…
They promote uniparty / globalist / establishment republicans and exclude true conservatives / populist / America First republicans. So, when you look around at all shit republican “traitors” in Congress most of that is because Fox News republican viewers got a distorted picture. Distorted with lies and omissions.
Second, they promote all the globalist agenda priorities manipulated into a right lens framing perspective. Think of all the wars Fox promoted to the republican audience going back when they started.
Called AZ for biden, went full covid plandemic buy-in, and pushed clotshots while taking pharma ad money (bribed).
I’ll pick up from here a little bit, at Election time is when Fox News shows its true colors, as it’s currently doing now. They’re all in on Trump is unpopular, and how democrats are a lock to tip the Congress. See, they always use the democrat narrative as their default for Truth, it’s annoying as hell. They won’t report anything that challenges that default narrative till after the Election, They won’t report anything about suppression polls and how Republicans on average do 8% better on Election day, They won’t report anything on these electric Trump rallies that are taking place now in real time. And then they won’t report anything when the lights go out and voila’ . . the election is stolen, even though it was statistically impossible. The impossibility should be the baseline and they should be reporting how it was violated.
Then if the Republicans win, voila’ they’re hardcore conservatives and the cycle begins once again (They’ll also lobby against important things like the Save America Act along they way).
President Trump has a great tweet posted this evening on this very topic at his Truth Social Account.
I stopped watching Fox News the night obama got elected and Hume and Krauthammer where just giddy with joy about his election! I knew at the time all the division and destruction obama would do to the country! Never watched Fox again!
Drugs such as adderall and ritalin commonly abused for stamina by figures like talking heads on TV “news” may cause side effects like giddiness.
Before these drugs became common it was cocaine, there’s still some of that too.
Dumped Lou Dobbs and Maria when they couldn’t be controlled to push FOX’S bs narratives
Thanks, back when I wasn’t interested so much in politics I didn’t realize I was getting gas lighted half the time. I watch so little regular TV now days I guess I don’t watch enough to form an opinion. All I know is VOTE RED.
Correct…one should only partake in Fox News when Gutfeld blasts Tarlov, beyond that every MSM outlet has no clue what is truth yet expounds as if they know for certain. The event may be true but this is all about ratings and ‘entertainment art’, sort of like the WWE except we know that is entertainment. Politics is everywhere when it should be the sitting at the kids table, or better, hardly ever heard from with their spin and ‘latest distraction du jour’. Same goes for ‘the weather’…to call it critical information every second of every day is simply moronic.
Case in point, last week it was AI is going to Terminate all of us, the week before, The Clancy Debacle…and on and on. Same Chicken Little baloney, different week. Turn it all off, use alt media platforms (like CTH).
“Are you not entertained!”
Not anymore.
Not this one (62). Been Fox News Channel – free since 2005.
Why should only the Democrats get softball interviews?
Oh, Fox News where the Architecht Karl Rove is not going to vote for Paxton?
Or at the very least, stop appearing on these networks for these ambush interviews. The ONLY thing propping up the legacy “news” shows is the eagerness of the GOP to keep them alive.
Their contracts should definitely be reviewed. Do they pay “rent” to use the public airways? They certainly do make a profit. Cable can do whatever they want, it’s subscription based.
Yeah, I think honest, independent sources could do MUCH better!
She is so tiring even to read.
I’m with you Mickey!!
IKR! Go Mickey!
Chris Plante was calling “Meet the Press,” “Meet the Democrat.” Hilarious
Isn’t she the muslim news person?
Brennan, along with the rest of the MSM, are a bunch of liberal Democrats eat up with TDS. Absolutely nothing President Trump does is going to be reported in a positive light and nothing the Republicans do is going to get good press, IF it is reported at all.
This bunch is no different than Baghdad Bob or Al Jazeera.
She’s using the old Keith Olberman/Tucker Carlson trick; her chair is set higher than her guest’s chair so she can look down at him. What a POS.
Tucker Carlson doesn’t sit higher than his guests.
I’m grateful we get these after our morning meditation, Bible study.
Satan attacks get more frequent as we win back our country and honor God.
She’s a miserable dark soul. I wonder if she knows of God.
I pray she does soon.
Thank you Sec. Wright, for fighting for us!
I’m not wondering.
True, I was trying to be nice but that not what I honestly thought either. Thank you for correcting me.
I’m grateful too. Grateful that I read this before going out to the range. It makes me glad knowing I can still remain calm and steady after seeing a picture of Marge and reading the garbage and spin that spews from her pie hole.
Now if I could only find my smokeless black powder stash……dang it.
What we SHOULD do is pray for each and all, of our enemies, by name, that they be TRULY converted!
Doesn’t look like escalation…
12 B-1B Lancers departing RAF Fairford during today heading back to the US.
The Wall Street Journal Report confirms that the U.S. military has withdrawn all 12 of its B-1B Lancer strategic bombers from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom, sending them back to the United States.
Reason for Withdrawal
• Security Concerns: The U.S. withdrawal came after police arrested several suspects near the Gloucestershire air base connected to a suspected terror plot targeting the facility.
• Major Incident: Local security protocols were raised to a major incident following the arrests, prompting the fast-tracked redeployment of the entire bomber contingent back across the Atlantic.
Deployment
• Operation Epic Fury: The dozen B-1Bs had been operating out of the British base since March 2026 to support long-range strike operations and deterrence patrols tied to regional tensions with Iran.
• End of Rotation: Spotters and flight-tracking alliances documented the final heavy afterburner departures from Fairford’s runways, officially concluding the current European bomber task force rotation.
Interesting good news. Our planes are leaving RAF Fairfield and coming back to the USA.
The Brits release the suspects with white vans who appeared to be planning an ‘adventure’ at RAF Fairfield. Very suspicious.
You know France is on fire in many cities. Is GB next?
Yep, when I want the truth the WSJ is the first place I go … NOT!
I sure hope they emptied the ‘Q’ area of all nukes. Bring them home for safe keeping. (at least it was called that sixty years ago)
God bless the USA!
Mike
The higher-level view sees that the Iran conflict has served to further deplete* and degrade the US military and start a retraction from the middle east and supporting bases (“debasification”).
All part of the longer-term global shift underway, with an apparent coming end state of the US/West reduced to mid-level authoritarian surveillance states in a global order effectively dominated by authoritarian surveillance state China.
The return of the bombers to the US appears to be a part of the retraction. The “security incident” appears to be contrived, which is a clue to the hidden hand steering things.
Interestingly, the CTH image of the Eye of Sauron viewed from the US Capitol Building shows the correct azimuth to the real thing, https://maps.app.goo.gl/dPH3PzvW5ctSuST36.

Brennan is on the board of the Council of Foreign Relations.
That says it all.
Like the rest of the msm propagandists , Margret is singing for her supper. They have no talent for anything else.
Brennan, CBS “News” and the rest of the establishment press have legitimacy only because the Trump administration and GOP give it to them. Trump was elected in 2024 by going AROUND the legacy media and appearing on popular podcasts. There existed a golden opportunity to completely sideline the MSM. Unfortunately once in office Trump and his people instead sidelined the popular podcasters and have instead spent the last two years appearing on shows like Face The Nation to be asked hostile ‘gotcha’ questions.
It’s doubly annoying in the case of CBS because Trump went out of his way to help Ellison take over the network. Yet it remans as dishonest and partisan as ever.
Why o Why does the cabinet personnel keep going on these Sunday shows with these cretins??
Maybe,
Trying to cut through the media fog….Put some honest, real info out.
Wonder how they, the Trump administration, decides “who’s turn it is in the barrel”
The ‘Sunday Shows’ numb-brained viewers need to >hear the truth is the ‘why’ of going on the Sunday shows. … Trump engages the ‘fake news’ to enable as many people as possible, to hear his information about the needs of >our country and the world.

Inexpensive fossil fuels furthers the common good for the people of the world. The destruction of the Iranian nuclear bomb making facilities is a just war that furthers the common-good too.
Please review this article at TheConservativeTreehouse. = >A Pragmatic Perspective on the Iran Conflict< April 12, 2026 | Sundance.
“Islamic extremists, religious zealots, fanatics, cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. Even those who are sympathetic to the Iranian regime, particularly Turkey and Qatar, are pragmatic about this issue.
Nuclear weapons must never fall into the hands of Hezbollah, Hamas, al-Qaeda, the Islamic State (ISIS), al-Nusra, and all of the extreme -perhaps most authentic- factions of Islam are included in that outlook.”
“On the issue of Iran never having nuclear weapons, it has been the stated policy of every U.S. administration for 40+ years, and on that issue the entire Middle East is in agreement.”
China this, China that…it’s all about China. Do you have a clear idea of life in China today as opposed to 60 years ago when Chairman Mao’s people were isolated in communism control? Do you recall all those bikes and primitive elements that society projected when films were presented to the Western world?
Go to You Tube and punch this into their search block: China’s Silk Road City After Dark | Street Food at Dunhuang Night Market.
Take a close look at the people, their clothes, attitudes, etc. Look at the buildings, the stalls, the presentations, the electronics, damn near everything your eyes can take it.
Does this look like a backward communist world? Do these people look like they are peasants? These may be the middle class as we know it, with service personnel who come off as sharp in their work. I note the happy couples, the clothes…this is modern China. You can spot pics of Mao on some items….yet do you think the present day citizens go about using his quotes from that little Red Book the Chairman had published?
Do these Chinese come off as hating the West, or are they more interested in enjoying their new lives? If Western diplomacy is to succeed it will need to incorporate the realities this video suggests when understanding the present Chinese mindset, along with the rest of this dynamic country’s peoples. This is not an easy task, it goes way beyond the immediate need for lower energy costs to our consumers.
We need to finish off Iran’s evil leadership, give their people a chance to enter into a new would view and hopefully, move away from the hatreds that have been within their world since the revolution. Oh, don’t let me forget–Marge Brennan is a jerk!
There is definitely a middle class in China with the developments over the past 20 years. That was not always the case. It is a country in transition economically and with that there will always be some pains experienced.
Just the number of cars on the road vs the past tells the story. China is the worlds largest automobile market.
Will Cain has an afternoon show on FOX broadcasting from Dallas, Tx.
Kinda like him and Waters World..
Still come here for real news.
By that time of day I’m usually on The Western Channel… 🙂
Once again enmedia shows that they are beholden to Americans enemies. They will never stop supporting the Evil one hoping to destroy President Trump but really the American people. For we are the only Country with the God in our constitution and heart to the people that believes in freedom and the right to secure your own destiny.
Thank you Mickie!
The completely insufferable Marge Brennan and the Communist Broadcast newts.
Sundance, et al, Since Diesel is a proper name, derived from Rudolf Diesel, the designer of the internal combustion engine that bears his name, it should be capitalized according to rules for punctuation. Just a pet peeve….. 🙂 Thank you for all you do for us and our great nation!
God bless,
Mike Rock
Thank you, Sundance, for watching the insufferable Brennan so that I don’t have to; and I appreciate the transcript so I can still see “the victim’s” responses!
Gad! Why do they continue to allow that woman on tv?
That is one of the best interviews I’ve seen with MB (I really don’t like that woman at all). He did not allow her to get any kind of “gotcha” moment in, or put any words in his mouth that could be misinterpreted. He didn’t stammer or reach for an answer… He continually supported President Trump‘s decisions although he admitted that he disagreed with President Trump sometimes, but that he still expressed his own opinions to him. I have heard President Trump say that this is what he wants from his administration, not a bunch of minions. Maybe not those exact words but the same idea.
Gotta give it to him…handled her like a pro talking to a five year old.
With that comment I willl watch MB one more time.
She really is hard to watch and listen to…
Look. It’s her job to ask, and it’s his job not to answer, and to say why he won’t answer. No issues there. Is she a harpy about it? Yes.
It’s difficult to find reliable news sources.
The MSM is almost totally unreliable.
I don’t blindly trust any news source.
I read about the news and use a variety of sources.
I start with Christian News sources, then move to the Tree House and work, then Jewish World Review, and from there I hit a variety of other sources.
I tend to skim and drill down as necessary.
These days I’m spending a bit less time on the news and a bit more time on Christian reading.
I worked for GAO for 26 years and retired early by adding my military time. My work took me to all levels of government, government contractors, grantees, private businesses, Indian trust funds, and I also worked on Capitol Hill.
All of that work caused me to realize that what people say and what they do are often very different things.
So, get your news from various sources, including those you don’t trust.
Trust but verify (to the extent you can).
