This sounds absolutely nuts to me, but the U.K police have released on bail the five suspected terrorists caught outside RAF Fairford military base. Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor delivered a statement outside Scotland Yard explaining the current status. WATCH:

But be assured, we are considering this from every possible angle, including that this may be actively committed by proxies or individuals, either knowingly or unknowingly, working on behalf of a foreign state.“

The woman, in her 50s, from Whelford, alerted police after seeing three vans blocking a road near the base, which has been used by the US to bomb missile sites in Iran, while on her way back from a party. Five British nationals were then arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning on suspicion of explosives offences and later terrorism. The farmer who dialed 999 has now claimed there were “definitely more than five” and estimated she saw between eight and 10 people with their faces covered and wearing “slim-fitting clothes”. {source}
UK NEWS – Five men arrested over a suspected bomb plot near an RAF base have been released on bail, the Metropolitan Police has said.
The suspects, who are all British nationals aged in their twenties and from London, were arrested over potential terror offences in Whelford, Gloucestershire, in the early hours of Sunday.
They were arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and later on suspicion of terrorism offences, after a villager dialed 999 when she saw three vans and a group of masked men near the base.
Dozens of homes had to be evacuated as bomb disposal teams were called in and a cordon remains in place. Home secretary Shabana Mahmood said on Monday afternoon that Whelford residents will shortly be able to return home.
Assistant commissioner Laurence Taylor told reporters outside New Scotland Yard: “I can confirm that following extensive interviews and inquiries, the five men who were arrested are being released on police bail this afternoon.
“To be very clear, this does not mean that the investigation is over. They are subject to stringent conditions on their movement and contact with others. They absolutely remain under investigation as we explore multiple lines of inquiry.”

there was no actual criminal violation.
there were no arms, weapons, explosives or some form of evidence indicating harm was being planned and that evidence is tied to this group…something more than heresay. Actual physical or electronic evidence.
the “crew” was afforded right to remain silent and not self implicate.
the attorney’s representing them made a preliminary appeal before the judge with conditions for their release (no travel and possibly with ankle monitors and police surveillance sequestering these mooslems to housing that would be monitored)

there did not actually commit any terrorism. no actual damage or harm to anyone other than screwing up traffic in a rural area in the witches hour and perhaps trespass (if the private owner of that property decides to file a complaint)
we really don’t know what was in the vans. (as someone taspok?) replied to an earlier post, this may have been some sort of penetration test, or a diversion. In either case, without actual weapons explosives or equipment to cut through fencing or rope to climb or ladder and such, there is no provable evidence that a court would entertain that rise to a criminal violation and certainly not a terror charge.
these men, for better of for worse, are in fact innocent UNLESS they are proven guilty.
Whether or not they were released with conditions, is unknown to me, but I mention it was speculation as to why a judge would permit bond.

what remains are the obvious questions, why police forces were not actively patrolling at all hours given the airbase was on heightened alert. That makes no sense to me. You set up roadblocks. You knock on doors and ask for the community to be on the alert and to form neighborhood relations so that something doesn’t look right, calls are made and police respond. I can’t imagine a heightened alert posture that does not require at least a 24.7 series of patrols all around the area. It’s unlikely that roadblocks could not have been set up and you screen all vehicles leading to roads into and around the area.

the points I am making is to simply examine the entire balance of what this is about and what is happening.
until they are found guilty, it’s a mere allegation. sure it looks and flies like a duck, but it isn’t a duck unless a court says so. bond would be perfectly reasonable, but only IF and I placed several factors that I believe would lead a court judge to authorize bail. That is not to suggest that a crime has not been committed, but even in this United States, court judges routinely allow bond …especially if there is no flight risk, conditions are met, and there is no prior criminal record. The prosecutors also have their say in this matter, and APPARENTLY they could not produce or substantiate any level of reason to deny bail. This is a key part that everyone might want to pay attention to.
I do have a question for you: I’ve not read anything whatsoever about chemicals inside the van. Please link to that information claim. I’ve not seen anything about that. And even if there were chemicals, that is more or less saying I smelled some bleach…alas, chemicals were found. this circles back to the court approving bond. If the prosecutors had a solid case with provable evidence of that kind of physical evidence that would proof positive show there was intention to cause harm, don’t you think the court judge would take that into consideration and keep them locked up.? Yes, even in the UK, court judges don’t take evidence of THAT KIND lightly.

For people wondering about security at the RAF Fairford, the site of the thwarted attack on US assets in the UK. The articles published by the MSM … CUT OUT parts of the interview of the female witness.
The witness (a local resident) stated, that the base has been under lockdown and heightened security for weeks. The B-1 bombers had already departed.
The use of anything approaching deadly force by US Base Security for anything but self-defense “response” or ON THE BASE itself is likely to be highly restricted by the SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) between the US and U … that defines US Forces Authority and Authority to use Force.
It is also telling that it was UK Police and not a UK INTEL nor Military Asset that responded.
It is not so simple as placing assets on a base, even a leased base in a foreign nation. especially ones that are now NOT our Friends and NEED AN INCIDENT vs a US asset. There ARE and will be limits.
Major USAF Assets: 501st Combat Support Wing, 420th Air Base Squadron, 420th Munitions Squadron, and the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron as well as actual USAF Combat Squadrons that pass through the base. Digging through the composition of the USAF Units at RAF Fairford … I cannot identify anything that looks like a major facility defense-security related asset as part of the units listed.
It is highly possible, if not likely, that the UK RAF is responsible for Physical Security of the Base. This is not an unusual arrangement for US Forces station overseas. That also is a major worry in my mind.
Of interest is that the Mission of the Units at this particular base and the assets that pass through it are NOT NATO related. Just an interesting consideration, which may have impacted the “amount of security” allowed or allocated by the UK at this base as well as it’s choice as a Target.
From what I can determine, this base supports:
The Ukraine (what a surprise, not … Storyline = Russia did it)
The Operations in the Middle East (Storyline = Iran, aided by the Russians did it)
The Operations in Africa
