I listened to the whole of Carney’s speech before the EU.
The EU stuff is a bunch of political theater It will probably take months to define what an “Associate member” actually is and if Canada and others of the commonwealth want to put one foot on the sinking EU ship then go right ahead.
I think it is hilarious that those that declare their sovereignty is threatened by the US like that their PM wants partnership with an organization which requires it’s member nations give up a large part of their own sovereignty.
That being said, Carney’s speech just plain pissed this American off. A whole lot of snark and not just at the POTUS but also at America and any American that supports America first!
Combine that with the Canadians trying to meddle in our midterm elections and the implied threat of increased and unrestricted migration into Canada and now a poll showing a plurality (41%) of Canadians view the US as an enemy.
There is another aspect to this also. The EU leaders seem bound and determined to find some way to start WW III with Russia over Ukraine and Carney and his Liberal Party have made it clear they are 100% invested in that.
Up until this time I was just thinking let Canada hurt itself until it comes back to the table. I have changed my opinion to make this an active and real trade war and make Canada crawl and beg. This American is now to the point where I want Trump to really hurt Canada. How? I would say refuse a deal, ANY deal beyond January when the heavy duty tariffs kick in and add more out right trade bans and keep them in place as long as it takes to wipe out Canada’s auto and tool and die and mold sectors and seriously damage other supporting sectors. I think that is the only thing that might inject a little reality into the retarded minds of the voters for the so called “Liberal Party”.

Not surprising, Golden Retrievers are very friendly dogs. Not every dog is cut out to be a guard/watch dog. At least the police didn’t shoot Nash for being ‘aggressive’.
Same with my Brittany’s. They are known to be good watch dogs as they will alert you to an intruder by barking, but they are also said to be so friendly they will show the intruder where you keep your valuables!
Get a Chihuahua for a guard dog, they are relentless at barking at an intruder and biting their ankles!
“Chucky” was a Siberian Husky foundling that my wife brought home. He’d had a rough life, years on the streets, years of indifferent care. He was an active, territorial back-yard presence. One morning he was especially noisy. I went to investigate and found he’d cornered a meter-reader who’d jumped our fence. Big mistake. Chucky was in a distinctive “guard dog” pose, sitting in front of the hapless meter-reader who was frozen in place. If he slightly moved Chucky gave a low growl. It was obvious that at sometime in our new dog’s rough and varied life he’d had guard-dog training. He only allowed the meter-reader to move when I said. “OK Chucky . . .”

I have a similar one about our adopted dog, Chica.
Gus worked out of town a lot and I never felt so safe as I did with her.
She was a man, child and cat hater so could not be re-homed.
She fell in total love with Gus and guarded me on his behalf.
She was a young adult when she came to us and we were blessed to have her for almost 16yrs.
She was in great shape but jawbone cancer took her in 6wks.

went for a walk with him and our other three dogs out in the boonies.
Around the bend a group of gang banger types sicced their pit bull on us. As the pit came running toward us, sweet little Kemo jumped out in front, hackles up, ready to protect us.
I said, “Kemo, back here. Your mama has a 357, no need for you to worry.”
Didn’t take 5 seconds for those @@#$$ and their dog to turn tail and run.

They owned a huge property (still in the family) and the dogs had their own house.

There are bass and catfish lakes there and we used to camp there quite a bit.

We’ve all heard that God moves in mysterious ways, and for the most part those “moves” remain well, mysterious – but there are numerous examples right from Abraham and Sarah where things that shouldn’t have been, became. Did you know the little boy resurrected by Elijah went on to become Jonah the prophet. Elisha, the student of Elijah also revived a boy who became the prophet Habakkuk. The long prayed for son of Hannah became the prophet Samuel. Of course at the time, none of these woman had any idea their desperate yet unyielding faith and devotion to the service of God would produce such greatness, indeed it was ONLY because of their unyielding faith in the One true God of Israel that their (and our) prayers were/are answered. Our problem is that the “miracles” we are blessed with soon fade from memory, are swallowed up by the grind of life and a return to “normal” – without really contemplating/understanding what we are/were witness to or what the “hidden” message may be alluding to. Make it count.
Oldspeak… I’ve been overwhelmed by the Glory of God and the obvious miracles through all of this. To me… it is remarkable. I think we get to the other side of this… and something else happens… and I admit to being deeply fatigued. I frankly felt guilty asking for “one more thing”.

I feel awkward in my faith thinking He’s going to drop us now??? Of course I don’t believe that!!!!
However, I also came in contact with Kara Tippetts mom… who strangely shares a incredible story… about dying well. So I have been like “Oh no… is this some kind of preparation for me to cope with Savannah dying???? Where is God going with this???
There’s a book and movie about Kara… and her mom Carolyn is my new neighbor and she lamented about she and her husband Dennis’s greatest fear of “dying lonely”…
So of course I wanted to minister to her… and yet she had no idea what was going on inside our home with kiddo.
She didn’t realize it and couldn’t help it, but Carolyn became the death angel… how to die with dignity and grace and not lose faith.
I just crumpled and lost it. What in the world is happening to us to place us in positions to see such things… to literally touch miracles… and to live fully in submission to God’s Will… no matter what He Decides.
It’s living with arms and hands wide open. But it is a lot for me to hold and I now have to ask for help because I’m exhausted.
I’m doing my best Oldspeak to honor God and willingly carry this and sing of His Mercy. This song is playing in my mind and it speaks to every cry I have.

COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 4
Exhortation to the study of wisdom. (1-13) Cautions against bad company, Exhortation to faith and holiness. (14-27)1-13 We must look upon our teachers as our fathers: though instruction carry in it reproof and correction, bid it welcome. Solomon’s parents loved him, therefore taught him. Wise and godly men, in every age of the world, and rank in society, agree that true wisdom consists in obedience, and is united to happiness. Get wisdom, take pains for it. Get the rule over thy corruptions; take more pains to get this than the wealth of this world. An interest in Christ’s salvation is necessary. This wisdom is the one thing needful. A soul without true wisdom and grace is a dead soul. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

It made total sense to bring the POWs to the US during the war. Britain simply did not have the space and the US was already helping to feed the British. Bringing them to the US assured that any thought of escape was foolish.
And it made total economic sense. Ships returning to the states after delivering supplies to Europe were empty, so filling them with prisoners did not cut down on supplies. In fact is was much cheaper to feed them here than with supplies shipped overseas. And they were fed well. Much better than they were fed by their own Army in Europe where fruits, good tobacco, and many other things like real coffee were almost nonexistent for the common soldier.
Many of the German POWs were greatly effected by their time in the US and a number immigrated back to the US after the war.
What is not mentioned in the video is that many 1,000s of the German POWs volunteered to work on the American farms. There they were fed their midday meal while on the farm. The meal was prepared by the farmers wife and quite often the Germans sat down at the same table with the family to eat. And they received pay for their labor that could be used to buy the relative luxuries of American cigarettes, soft drinks, etc at the canteen/store in the POW camp. There are many accounts of German soldiers feeling like they were treated like family by the farm families the worked for.
Of course the hardcore SS types would not work and almost always isolated themselves from the common Wehrmacht soldiers.
Rah, I just missed WWII but I enjoy reading about it. Such a proud time.
