For those just recently entering the era of ‘great awakening’, let this type of nonsense propaganda serve as a starting point to realize what CTH has described from the outset of the Ukraine-Russia ‘conflict’ as, essentially, World War Reddit.
There are approximately 140 million Russian people living in Russia. Of that population there are approximately 60 million males. Of the 60 million males there are approximately 20 million men aged 18-35. Additionally, 75% of the Russian population lives in urban centers, ie. cities.
If 1.4 million men (out of 20 million) were killed or wounded in the Ukraine conflict, the hospitals and convalescent facilities in around the cities of Kazan, Moscow and St Petersburg would be full; at least significantly beyond ordinary medical capacity. They are not. Not even close.
I have no idea where these western ‘intelligence’ analysts and experts come up with these statistics, but they are so far beyond nonsense the light from where silly stuff originates could not reach them for years. They could have just used the word “eleventy’. There is nowhere near that number of KIA/WIA in Russia; not even close.

The hospitals aren’t full because the Russians 1) Don’t have the medic support that you would normally associate with an army like ours, 2) the Russians don’t have the medical supplies at the front lines even if they did have the medics because their logistics are abhorrent, 3) Putin and his generals don’t care about the well-being of the troops that they are sending in meat waves to attack and hopefully plant a flag in the rubble that they’ve destroyed with glide bombs and artillery. It’s impossible for any of us to even guess at the actual number of killed/wounded accurately.

Think back to the days of the Vietnam war. All young men graduating High School (18 years old) were assigned a number and inducted when their number was drawn whether they liked it or not. It was not voluntary service. Many young men fled the country.
War is ugly and once started has to be fed with people that will potentially die or be maimed. It is an age old struggle to maintain peace when there are enemies that want only to conquer.
War should always be a defensive measure. Having said that, it is necessary to maintain a lethal fighting force that can withstand attacks from growing, belligerent, nations that want only to be the most powerful entity on earth. Having a large, strong, voluntary force is critical to the safety of a nations citizens.
I do not agree with kidnapping young men off the streets the way Ukraine is doing it. It is reprehensible. People here are having fits that young men under early twenties are being called on to fight. Once more, remember Vietnam, high school graduates sent to the front lines.
Pray we never have to endure another conflict that involves a national draft. In my estimation Vietnam was an unnecessary war.
There number was their birthday, month and day. I was 4 when my brother turned 18 during the war. I remember my mother worried sick for a long time everytime a number was called.

The lottery came about in 1969. I remember sitting in the barracks watching it.
I was in the Air Force Band when I learned that my birth date was in the top for being drafted. It was one of the few times I was lucky to have my called because I had a great job until I got out in 1971.
I had just gotten out of the 82nd Abn AND the military when the lottery occurred. My number came up so I was glad I had my duty behind me rather than in front of me.

Knew several Viet Nam vets that were really messed up when they returned home.

If you mean the number of the month, such as 10, and the day, 31, to be 1031, that was not the case. Each day of the entire year was assigned a number in a lottery. My older brother received a low number and was drafted. He went in for the testing and because of his IQ they offered him to join the Army in intelligence for 3 years (instead of the usual 4) and send him to language school in Monterey, CA. So he became fluent in German and was sent to West Berlin.
My father was one of the earliest naval aviators prior to WW II. When the war started all of his classmates were pilots, shot down, and killed. My father wanted to first fly, but he was a college graduate in engineering. They said no. He tried for submarine duty, and they said no again. He explained to me that they could teach all kinds of young kids to fly, but the war effort needed engineers too. He spent the war involved in the production and inspection of bomb fuses. That’s why I’m here today!

My best friend’s older brother got drafted as soon as he graduated high school. He was such a cool kid. Always into tech stuff.
His dad got him an expensive reel to reel recorder so he built an amplifier and had an awesome sound system. He set up an intercom system so his family could communicate from room to room. It wasn’t exactly needed but it was cool.
He was a different person when he came home from Vietnam. Mostly stayed to himself.

I turned 18 in ’74 and felt so fortunate when my lottery number was 362. Even luckier when that war ended before the grinder needed me.
My Dad was an orphan working on the family farm at 17 in ’67. He joined the USAF so that he wouldn’t get drafted into the army. They sent him to Lackland AFB for training and he became the base Game Warden. He was on R&R water skiing in the Hill Country barefoot. The US Secret Service saw him and he was assigned to a detail with them for 90 days to teach Lucy Bird Johnson how to water ski. That’s when he met my Mom and why I exist. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

A retired U.S. Army four-star general and former Director of the CIA who served over 37 years in the military. Commanded coalition forces during the Iraq War Surge and leading U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Currently, Petraeus is a Partner at the global investment firm KKR and serves as the Chairman of the KKR Global Institute.
He also holds academic positions as a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center, a visiting professor at CUNY, and a Judge Widney Professor at USC, while serving on the boards of directors for companies like Optiv and OneStream.
I get the feeling one of those major economic joint projects is going to happen after the midterms. War or no. This is a last ditch effort to change the optics.
There are a number of ex-officials that are using their past credentials to spew misinformation on the internet. Petraeus is one of them, joined by the likes of Douglas MacGregor (ex Army), Larry Johnson (ex intelligence), Jeffrey Sachs, etc. I find that when people are first starting to get involved with these issues, they are convinced that these ‘ex-officials’ are a pathway to ‘inside information’. If you listen to them long enough, however, you come to understand that nothing that they are saying is accurate. You’ll come across comments from people who swear that what they are hearing from these ‘officials’ is legitimate. For those who have moved on from these officials, you have to wonder what their motives are….

Sundance it appears possible that who is dying/wounded is not the young men of Moscow/St. Petersburg but those from the East. Note that they have been attracting people to the army with what would be good pay from that perspective, and the pay is no longer enough. That suggests that their pool has been the poorest people in Russia, whom you did not see, and that those communities can’t sustain it any more. I am not sure it would be a matter of checking around Moscow and St. Petersburg to find the wounded or those grieving the KIA.

Estimates of deaths can be teased out of probate and court records…about 400K. That leaves about 1 million wounded, spread over 54 months of the war. Leaked records suggest the average hospital stay is/was 27 days…about 1 month. So about 18K or 19K on average are in hospitals…Putin or the gov’t in general make it a point to minimize the use of citizens of Moscow…the soldiers mostly come from smaller and poorer areas of the country.
It is guess work, but with some hard facts. I see no reason to think the 1.4 million killed or wounded is wildly wrong.
Did he not lose his security clearance for passing along his state secrets in bed? If not, then perhaps he is at it again. Perhaps he should have gone to jail back then. If he did lose his security clearance back then…perhaps someone should ask him if has received any money from organizations affiliated with foreign states. Smells like case of either continuing treason or deep psychosis over v a loss of relevance?
Raise your hand if you believe that Russia has not sustained enormous, lasting, damage/harm from this fiasco. Now slap yourself with it.
What everyone believed from the start, including here, was that the Ukraine would be overrun in a matter of a few weeks to maybe a few months. The fact is that it has dragged on for 4 and a half years. That the Russian population is on the verge of an historic contraction. That many Russians have fled the country, due to conscription. That their oil infrastructure has sustained significant damage. The economic costs are going to affect the standard of living for all Russians, for many years, DECADES.
To claim all the damage to the Ukraine and then claim practically no harm to Russia is dishonest reporting. Or delusional thinking at best.

Dear God in Heaven-I read thru some of the Comments on the Daily Mail article link. I have to wonder how much more evil and full of hate the world has to become to be like in the days of Noaa.
