Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial after the 12-member jury could not reach a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy.
The defense counsel of Ms Clancy violated every form of judicial ethics in his effort to expose and pressure the one male juror who refused to accept a not guilty verdict and stood his ground. We should not know the identity of the jurors; however, the female foreperson worked with defense lawyer Kevin Reddington to assemble pressure against the juror who would not acquit Clancy.
What took place in this Massachusetts courtroom and jury deliberation undermines the foundation of the system of trial by jury. During actual deliberations defense counsel was openly pressuring Judge Sullivan to remove the juror who would not change his position. A mistrial had to be declared, and Attorney Reddington then went outside and publicly called for retaliation against the male juror who would not accept the position of the female jurors. This is quite remarkable.
Massachusetts – After seven days of deliberation, the judge in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial declared a mistrial because the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, with one juror refusing to join the eleven others.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked Judge William Sullivan to remove the holdout juror, but Sullivan refused. However, Sullivan granted Reddington an hour to request an emergency stay from a higher court on the mistrial declaration. This would delay the start of a new trial.
Clancy’s case will likely be re-tried with a new jury; until then, she will remain in a psychiatric facility in northeastern Massachusetts. (more)

Brian, I can only assume that you have never been put thru the “judicial system” at such a level (not talking traffic court here), wherein your freedom, as well as your name, honor and reputation is threatened. Very scary. Frightening. Debilitating. But you can rest assured that the lawyers will “coach” you thru your proposed testimony before the trial (guilt or innocence doesn’t matter, just “winning” does) and then, after so many different variables hit the table during trial (with judge, prosecutor and your attorney arguing over and juggling “rules of evidence”, et al), one’s fate is left to 12 fellow citizens who, hopefully, were paying attention and actually give a shit. Incredible stress. Everyone vying for the juror’s favor.
But what is most astounding, with the advent of DNA we too often hear that years after a poor bastards false conviction, DNA evidence reveals that persons innocence. So sad.

Hired her a nanny, had her committed to a mental institution for a couple of days. I’m sure that they also had a maid to do the cleaning, so really you can’t blame him much except he needed to be monitoring his wife a lot closer. I did not follow this trial and only read about it recently. However, I can relay 20+ years of first-hand experience living with a loved one who experienced postpartum psychosis and who was ultimately diagnosed as bipolar.
My wife developed postpartum psychosis two weeks after the birth of our child. At the time, the only course of treatment was a lengthy stay in a mental hospital to stabilize through heavy doses of antipsychotic medication. About eight months after discharge from a lengthy stay in a psychiatric hospital, my wife started experiencing intrusive thoughts telling her to throw our daughter off a two-story balcony.
By the grace of God, she did not act out on her intrusive thoughts and instead stopped taking the antipsychotic medication prescribed during her stay at a mental hospital. To this day, she says an angel appeared and stopped her from hurting our daughter and then told her to stop taking the anti-psychotic medication causing the intrusive thoughts.
Once my wife was diagnosed bipolar, we were told that if we had another child, there was a high probability that my wife would experience postpartum psychosis again. Her psychiatrist theorized that bipolar (and undiagnosed bipolar) women who develop postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis multiple times will experience worsening symptoms after each subsequent birth. He also theorized that after each subsequent birth, the intensity of intrusive thoughts increases along with the level of violence associated with the thoughts.
For those who have never witnessed a loved one have delusional or intrusive thoughts during a bipolar cycle, they believe their intrusive thoughts are real and their subsequent actions are often planned and well thought out if one were to accept the validity of their delusional thoughts.
Living with a spouse who has a serious mental illness is a daily struggle and only about 1 out of 10 marriages survive. I am blessed to have been raised with Jesus. His love guides me through each day as I care for my spouse and honor the vows I promised before God.
As for justice for the children that the women on trial murdered, I personally think sentencing her to prison would be a disservice when compared to being involuntarily committed to a lengthy stay at a psychiatric facility for those who committed criminal acts. In prison, she could easily commit suicide or be murdered.
If she was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility for criminals, she would be on long-term suicide watch and sooner or later would cycle into depression. For those who have never experienced a loved one cycling into bipolar depression, their state of mind can only be described as living hell. Bipolar patients frequently experience a significantly heightened sense of guilt, don’t sleep much, stare at the walls or ceiling and torment themselves about their previous actions. For someone who murdered her children, the guilt would probably be all-consuming for months if not years. Hopefully, with proper treatment she could live until she atones for her sins. At minimum, she would be off the streets and no longer a danger to society for many years to come.
If the jury acquitted her, she would only have to stay in a facility until she was “cured”. She could be out in a year. The defense said the pharmaceuticals were the problem.
Put her in prison for three life without the possibility of parole consecutive terms . Let her receive psychotherapy there. She murdered her three wonderful kids.
If she gets acquitted, it will set a legal precedent. It will be open season on little kids. Further, any murderer can say “it was the meds.”
Being a danger to oneself or to another is a red flag for medical intervention. She or her then-husband should have called the POLICE. They didn’t do that.

Like I said in my previous post, I did not follow the trial. That said, I do believe in accountability.
I am not familiar with MA law. In other high-profile cases, the jury was given the choice of either 1) finding a defendant guilty of crime with a subsequent prison sentence or 2) acquitting the person due to insanity (drug induce insanity?) which is followed by a lengthy involuntary commitment to a mental facility for the criminally insane. No one should walk free after committing a heinous crime.
In my opinion, if she doesn’t really have a serious mental illness then she belongs in prison. Personally, I would add extra time to her sentence for her allowing her attorney to the mental illness ploy).
If she truly has a serious mental illness or drug induced insanity, then she needs to be involuntarily committed to a mental health facility for the criminally insane for several decades. Not a one and done sentence! I was envisioning something like what John Hinckley, Jr. received when he was acquitted of attempting to murder President Reagan due to insanity. In these facilities, she would have less freedom than if she had been sentenced to prison and she would receive prolonged treatment. Not enjoying three squares a day, a bed, TV, and access to prison contraband such as cigarettes, hooch, and smuggled drugs. These facilities tend to be harsh when compared to most prisons.
As for setting precedent, I don’t see that happening for the following reason. It exposes Big Pharma so Big Pharma will quickly shut down the defense argument that blames their medications. The “it was the meds” defense would destroy the markets for large numbers of Big Pharma’s highly profitable drugs. There are literally Trillions at stake!
When you ask the right questions, you learn our current healthcare system is nothing more than dealers (healthcare professionals) convincing us to become lifelong customers of Big Pharma. The healthcare industry is not intended to help individuals achieve a state of healthiness, it intended to find overly complex reasons that can be used to convince us that we need to purchase as many products as we can afford (or the government can afford) that are supplied by Big Pharma.
I cannot count the number of times I have read medical journal articles that discuss either antipsychotic medications or other pharmaceuticals used to treat mental health issues and somewhere in almost every article the following phrase or a similar phrase appears “the exact therapeutic mechanism of action of antipsychotic medication (insert drug x) remains unclear.”
Would you blindly follow the advice of someone, whose entire business model is based upon convincing you that you, or a loved one, needs to purchase a drug(s) where “the exact therapeutic mechanism of action remains unclear”? Or would you begin to learn to ask the right questions, do your own research, and make an informed decision based upon what is known and unknown? That is where personal accountability enters the picture.
As for calling the police, most states have a law on the books that explicitly states that people with mental illnesses have the right to be mentally ill and have the right to not be forced to take medication. I know from first hand experience that it literally takes weeks to get a court order after you have demonstrated that a loved one is a danger to themselves or others before the police can stop them for evaluation. If the officer doesn’t think the person is an immediate threat, the person is not sent for further evaluation. The exception is when someone is actively trying to harm themselves or others.

As one who experienced the effects of a succession of up to two anti-depressant “medications” taken at once for a number of years, I can attest to the accuracy of your statement above. Personality changes were real. The ideations of suicide, murder, and other insane thoughts intruded often and even intensifed as one slowly weens oneself off the pills. Only, radical changes in diet and exercise protocols applied over 15 years have ended the recurring episodes of clinical depression that mared much of more than fifty years of life. Yet, ideations do not automatically transform into actions. Free will still overcame all such thoughts. So accountablity for murder should still apply.

Good for you for speaking up just another, could you possibly give a couple tips about those diet and exercise protocols ? I remember hearing Jordan Peterson talk about the importance of eating protein in the morning to turn around depression, and how it was proven to work.
Through high stress periods I have just fought back by consuming lots of protein, but never gave it more effort — too busy doing the things which absolutely had to be done. I think a lot of people would benefit form some details about the diet which actually worked.

I married the love of my life and we have had experienced the highs and lows of life together. The highs have always out numbered the lows. After several miscarriages, my wife and I were blessed with a wonderful daughter and she is thriving in life! If the birth of my daughter triggered my wife’s mental health issues, we agree it is a small price to pay for God providing her to us.

His comment was a reply to Wethal at 2:44 pm. Below is my copy/paste and, according to this, Clancy was diagnosed with a mood disorder, not psychosis, not postpartum:
I was wrong about Lindsay Clancy. Here’s why I changed my mind.
She was never diagnosed with postpartum depression or psychosis. She was not on 13 medications at once. She was not “hearing voices.” She was not abandoned by her family.
She was diagnosed with a mood disorder – never psychosis – and went to a variety of doctors who all prescribed different medications, which she took unreliably and not simultaneously.
She only heard a voice one time – and that was right before she killed her kids. Extremely atypical for psychosis.
She carefully planned her children’s murders down to the minute. She researched the distance of a restaurant she’d ask Patrick to go to. Added on a last-minute errand before he left. Calmly answered his phone call in the middle of her crime. Brought her children down to the basement one by one, overpowering their resistance and killing them slowly.
It does seem like she had support from her family. She may have still been overwhelmed, but it’s not true that all of her cries for help went unanswered.
I originally placed too much blame on the many SSRIs she was prescribed. For years on my show, I’ve talked to health professionals who have been warning about the violence-inducing effects of these drugs, and I thought Lindsay’s case may be an example of that reality.
Is it still possible these SSRIs had a negative effect? Absolutely. But the case that these drove her into a psychotic episode is weak.
This evidence continues to reveal, in my opinion, that Lindsay Clancy methodically murdered her children and she was fully aware of what she was doing.

If she was as psychotic as the lawyer claims, the husband would have noticed her lack of reality-testing, he would have informed her doctors, and she would have been re-hospitalized. A lot of these sicknesses, especially among the homeless, can be addressed with diet. Speculation on my part, but I think most homeless people could quickly leave the streets with adequate diet, sleep, and environmental stress reduction or elimination. Attorney Andrew Branca explains that Massachusetts, unlike most other states, retains a low bar for the defense to clear with an insanity defense. The burden is on the state to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was sane.
11 jurors decided the state had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Lindsay Clancy was sane. The holdout juror decided the prosecution had proved it, and refused to budge from that position.
Essentially, the foreman accused the lone juror of refusing to give the defendant the benefit of the doubt although he had expressed his own doubts about her sanity during the deliberations.
The foreman accused the single juror of engaging in jury nullification. Ignoring the law because he doesn’t like it.
In my opinion Lindsay Clancy was completely sane. She had the self awareness to know that harming the children was wrong. She engaged in a pattern of concealment and deception to hide her true feelings from the doctors and psychologists treating her, because she knew the children would be taken away if she admitted it. Then, she meticulously planned the murders and devised an elaborate scheme to get the father out of the house, long enough so she could execute her plan.
All of this shows that she had consciousness of guilt. She knew that what she was doing was wrong, illegal, and immoral. Whatever her mental problems, she was 100% rational and sane in regards to these murderers. Also, her stories about hearing voices were not credible according to psychologists who examined her.
She is a lying murderer. Thank God at least one of the 12 held firm.

Why wouldn’t the DOJ be able to investigate the handling of this trial? The defense lawyer in particular. The jury head, too. If he is publicly identified then the women should be, too (and the two cuck males who went along). Sundance you are so right! I unfortunately live in Massachusetts and was shocked when defense attorney Reddington publicly announced that it was a male juror who was the dissenting vote. With only 3 men on the jury this poor guy will be identified and vilified. I can’t believe the judge even allowed Reddington’s courtroom outbursts against “the lone holdout.”
This trial is a microcosm of how much we have lost our way – no moral compass. It’s all cheap sentimentality, misplaced compassion, and playing to the crowds. True justice and reason left with common sense a long time ago.

If some mental state, no matter what caused it, brought me to kill my own children, ……………….death could not come soon enough.
It’s been pointed out by others that in a similar case of genuine mental illness, the mother afterwards had demanded to be punished and wanted to die for what she’d done.
Lindsey is a nurse. She knew where to cut to not die, what drugs to have prescribed, and it’s been stated that even her being wheelchair bound is temporary. She’s absolutely aware of everything she does. She was insane, she just has no conscience.
This is now the central question in young male/female relationships. Male asks: “How do you stand on this legal case?”
If female gives the wrong answer, the young male RUNS FOR HIS LIFE AND NEVER LOOKS BACK.
This answer becomes more than one of morality. It is civilizational. Society cannot continue if the murder of children is condoned FOR ANY REASON. A husband could NEVER trust his wife.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an attorney who needed to be doxxed and exposed to the same type of terror he’s begging his crowd visits on the juror. I mean, really, good for goose, good for gander. Just an observation at this point in time: we are losing our social sense of right and wrong and the value of having a judicial system with integrity. You can trace the start of jury nullification back to the O.J., trial. Jury pools all around our nation have since been steadily corrupted, to wit: D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon ( and Maine), Chicago, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia. We’ve lost our K thru 12 schools, our universities, and for the most part our judiciary. Correction begins in the home. If we are to survive, we must, like this noble sole juror, insist on it. Government will not do this for us.

The judge in the case should at least monetarily sanction the defense counsel and file a complaint to the Mass Bar (though that will do little good). If the defense counsel is lighter in the wallet by say, the total amount of the GoFundMe account for the defense, that might just send the correct message to all attorneys in Massachusetts to not even consider asking the judge to remove a juror during deliberations because they think that they’re against their client.
It is now open season on babies (both preborn and postborn) and young children too small to escape. Is it any wonder that MA has now implemented a barbaric law allowing babies at nine months gestation to be slaughtered? (Both of my children came weeks early. Fully formed and healthy.) These women are TOXIC. Where, pray tell, are the fathers? Or are they merely sperm donors?

The whole judicial system has been broken for years – judges, juries, Soros paid DAs, even the Supreme Court. Bravo to the male juror who stood by his principles. Americans can not expect true, fair, unbiased justice in the courts.

Unacceptable treatment of the juror. The attorney should have an ethics investigation and determination. The ethical standards of trial lawyers must be kept. This attorney acted unethically and should have to bear consequences. If unethical behavior is not addressed there will be more of this. I am not an attorney so I do not know how ethical standards are maintained or allowed to be flouted.
This is a tragic case of mismanagement of a woman’s post partum psychosis. I, myself have treated a number of women with post partum psychosis. It is very treatable, and women leave the hospital ready and able to care for their child or children. This woman received very poor care and it resulted in her killing her children and her paralysis. Her psychiatric care was unacceptable in the 21st century.

I’m glad there was at least one person on the jury with a thinking brain who would not be bullied into believing that the murdering criminal on trial was innocent (regardless of the reason). Take out the emotion and look at the facts only and then decide whether she should be found guilty.
