Earlier this afternoon President Trump held an oval office event with several leaders in the pharmaceutical and medical sector, to discuss the latest developments in the reduction of prescription drug prices.
White House – President Donald J. Trump announced nine new agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers to lower prescription drug prices for Americans in line with the lowest prices paid by other developed nations (known as the most-favored-nation, or MFN, price). The agreements bring the total number of pharmaceutical manufacturers with MFN deals to 26, covering 89% of the branded drug market.

I could be like the gas stations that pocket any decrease in the wholesale price and keep the retail price up then still blame it on Trump.

Check with your pharmacy and ask how much your prescription will cost if you pay cash. For a lot of common medicines you will find out that is the cheaper option rather than billing insurance.
Yeah, Insurance has so completely severed free market cause and effects.

Your insurance negotiates with doctors and hospitals over reimbursement.
You worry about premiums, copays, deductibles and such.
They have also severed your medical needs from your medical treatments.
I just had a dental implant shoved up into my sinuses. Insurance refused to pay for the surgery needed to remove it. And removing it was truly necessary.

Regarding your surgery, the medical profession can make a mistake and still charge you to fix it. That should be looked at as well.
If your mechanic messes up on repairing your car you expect that they will fix their mistake at no charge.
Insurance companies shouldn’t be able to pick and choose what they want to cover AFTER you buy coverage. If you buy a policy, insurance companies should be forced, by law, to list every single item they WILL NOT cover. Anything else, they pay. This “ooops, we’re not going to cover that because blah,blah,blah”, is crooked and people know it. Everything should be spelled out in simple layman terms what is, and is not, covered. None of this lawyer crap, weasel worded policies.
Also, if they don’t cover you then you should be refunded TWICE THE AMOUNT in premiums you have paid in. Make it cost them to pull the rug out from under people.

I pay cash and get a 90 day supply for less than other people I know pay for a co-pay with insurance for the same medication.
I take Metformin ER and a 90 day supply was just over $30 . So many common medicines are really cheap but insurance distorts the pricing mechanism.

One way to lower drug prices is to have CONgress pass a law prohibiting big pharma from advertising their prescription drug products on TV and radio. Unfortunately we know why that won’t happen.
TV, radio and print media have always relied heavily upon advertising revenues to operate. I’ve read that big pHarma provides about 40 percent of those revenues. That’s why at least half the commercials we see are for various pharmaceuticals.
There HAS to be a better way!
Maybe instead of supporting a gazillion cable channels that nobody watches, we can cut loose big pharma’s bucks and let the excess stations die on the vine without propping them up artificially. The popular shows will attract advertisers and survive.

I paid $261 for eliquis for one months supply from a local pharmacy, however, I was able to get generic apixaban (eliquis) for $323 for three month supply from India through U.K. I have found out that if you buy brand drugs overseas they are now charging a tariff. If it is generic, no tariff is applied.

First of all, I just try to stay healthy as possible. So far so good. Don’t fix it if it aint broken. If i don’t think I need a procedure, I won’t do it. Between me and my husband we pay over $800.00 a month for insurance. Medicare and the extra one.

Question is….Who gets the benefit of reduced pricing? Big Insurance Medicare Medicaid? Its up to them to reduce yours mine pricing…so far I havent seen reduced medicare coverage.
