Dept of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin hold a press conference to announce emergency DoT and DHS action to initiate an emergency shutdown of regulated training centers for commercial driver’s licenses.
Actions announced include DoT (1) Emergency removal of 110 commercial driver’s license (CDL) schools associated with more than 5,000 drivers who failed English language proficiency tests. (2) Launching a nationwide audit of third-party CDL skills testers and states’ oversight of the testers. (3) Results from 40-state investigation of additional training schools. From DHS (1) Synchronized single-day sweep targeting more than 200 training schools across 23 states. (2) Joint coordination with USDOT. (3) HSI and ICE updates on ongoing investigations targeting CDL-related businesses and schools.

What Secretary Mullin outlined in his remarks is stunning. During one taskforce setup, in the first day they stopped 14 big rig drivers with a CDL that said “No Name Given” for the truck driver’s identification. They didn’t even have names on their commercial driver’s licenses.
At 41:10 of the video, a reporter downplays the issue claiming only 1% of the accidents on the road are caused by drivers who do not speak English. Secretary Mullin responds with a very intense pushback against the reporter.
Keep in mind that airline pilots as well as air traffic controllers must be 100% proficient in the English language to operate an aircraft in the United States. That requirement goes for foreign flagged airlines as well.

English is the international standard for pilots. Technically.
Yes. For all international flights the crew and tower personnel are required to communicate with one another using the English language. That way everyone in the airspace system knows what’s going on around them.

Twice in a week a was just a split second from being obliterated by a truck. Only my quick reflex’s saved me. One was nearly a head on and the other was almost my driver side impact. . I can’t say the truck driver was an illegal but I can say they weren’t good drivers

I caught sight of two semis in a road raging incident on an interstate highway. Lucky it was early morning and light traffic, but they were cutting each other off, brake checking, using both lanes and moving slowly for an interstate.
I backed way off and turned on hazards, called highway patrol. No idea of nationality, but they are both jerks who shouldn’t have a license.

I have been meaning to post this in the Presidential thread but this is a better spot.
I have had reason to drive from the south to NJ using interstate through NC, TN, VA, WVA, Maryland, PA and of course NJ. I did the trip once in June and then again last week. The June trip, after having been alerted to the abundance of CDL drivers from the ranks of illegals and reading posts here, I started to notice these questionable trucks immediately as I drove. If you subtracted the obvious large national carriers like Wal Mart and large regional carriers, of the remaining semi’s 3/4 had some LLC sticker or magnet on the side with generic spam sounding names. Some even had these magnet signs covering rental trucks painted logos. It just stood out once you knew what to look for. Also notable were the habits of the drivers, as in bad habits and dangerous habits. I tried to give these trucks as much space as possible.
Fast forward to last week and there was a noticeable absence of these same kind of trucks. Very noticeable. Much easier driving this trip.
I applaud the efforts to clean up this road fraud – deport them all!

I’ve been watching these trucks for many months after following some accounts on Twitter that were highlighting these drivers all over the US, and the accidents they have been causing.
It is easy to see which are professional drivers, and who might be watching TikTok videos as they drive an 80,000 pound rig down the road at 70mph.
As for the magnetic signs…they are called chameleon drivers because they change their company affiliation just by changing the sign. Rather than being out out of service, they just slap a new sign on. There are videos of them doing this.
The companies they are driving for are similar to the Quality Learing Centers in Minnesota. Many companies, sometimes in the hundreds, all incorporated at one address or PO box, and often using the same name as a registrant.
People have been clamoring for Duffy to act for a very long time, especially after multiple accidents with deaths of Americans have been caught on video.
I still see many of the same trucks driven by bad drivers here in Wisconsin. I suspect it may be different depending on how seriously the state takes their responsibility for safe highways.
In my opinion, Duffy could act much more forcefully to stop this nonsense. If a truck crosses state lines, it should be an interstate commerce issue allowing the feds to act and shut down every truck at weigh stations in every state. Some states have done this on their own, but it is not nearly enough.
Amen! And shout out to Wal Mart. Every driver i have met driving a WM truck has been a very professional American!!
This is not just a language issue. Many foreigners come from countries where driving is right out of “The Road Warrior.”
In many countries, people drive with reckless abandon and keep trying to prove their manhood on the road. In much of the

Sheesh. How about just one …. or to be really generous… two. One okay maybe an explanation on how they passed. But two?? That’s a BIG clue they aren’t legit. These are just the guys who got cited!!

Last year, my kids and I were almost pushed off the side of a mountain on the WVa turnpike by a semi who partially crossed into the left lane as I was passing. After I blared my horn and got completely back onto the roadway, I could see that he was wearing a turban.
Youtube has several big rig tow truck videos. Pepes Towing is a good one, and he does mention/question on occasion if the driver is illegal. The ones that get me are the Indians, dot, not feathers, who won’t talk to the tow operator until he finishes his phone call. Probably making sure this won’t hurt his H1B visa.
Whichever company provided jobs to “No Name Given” drivers just painted a huge target on their back for every state, county and local cop to stop those company trucks for a look see. Yeah, I know, they will be operating under another name and authority before too long, but not before they can get all the freight delivered and paid for that they’re hauling.
Maybe its time to look under the company name and dot number written out on paper and taped on the side of the truck. Is that covering up an old company name, or is it legitimately temporary. Every legitimate company i have worked for gave you the sticker to put on the truck when you signed on to work for them before you were dispatched (Owner/Operator).
Let’s peel back the curtain and have a look.
As a lifelong oilfield worker…. IMHO,,, if you need to go to school to figure out how to drive a truck,,, you don’t have any business in one.
Had a delivery driver drop off a package last week. He asked me a few questions that would help him find his next planned delivery address. He asked me in a language I do not understand, and then shoved his phone at my face. There in front of me were paragraphs written in English. He was using a translate app. I rad the app and responded. My words appeared on his phone in a foreign language. He wasn’t driving one of those large tractor trailer trucks we see on the highways. He was driving one of those blue painted vans that have become so familiar in residential neighborhoods.
If one of those invaders in Amazon vans ever shoves a phone in my face I will knock him out right there in the street. Self-defense. I thought it was a gun. I have no patience for these foreign parasites.
