Robert Gilman, an English teacher and Marine Corps veteran, was detained by Russian police while traveling to the U.S. embassy in Moscow in January 2022 and charged with disorderly conduct, drunkenness and assaulting a police officer, which his advocates strongly denied.
Via Truth Social – “I am proud to announce that American Citizen Robert Gilman, a former United States Marine, is coming HOME! In a well known Media story, Robert was imprisoned in Russia in 2022, during the Biden Administration. After my discussions with President Vladimir Putin, Russia has agreed to release him, very much on a Humanitarian Basis. We appreciate this decision, and the fact that Russia asked for no one in return — No exchange took place. Robert will land at Andrews Air Force Base, in Washington, D.C., tonight, where my Representatives, some of whom are on the plane with him, will welcome Robert back to THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
I just spoke to him, and he had one request — A GREAT cheeseburger when he lands. I will take care of that! During my Administration, we have prioritized bringing home Americans Detained Abroad, and have done so at a level never seen before, returning hundreds of people to their families. We have also freed many non Americans who were under capture in different countries throughout the World. Robert Gilman has been reunited with his wonderful mother, Nancy, who is also on the plane with him, and will soon get to see all of his loved ones. Thank you to my incredible Team, including Special Envoy for Peace Missions, Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy for Hostage Response, Adam Boehler, Senior Director for Counterterrorism, Sebastian Gorka, Jared Kushner, and the many others who made this possible. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” ~ President DONALD J. TRUMP
Via Marco Rubio – “Today, after more than four years of detention in Russia, Robert Gilman is on his way home to be reunited with his family. Mr. Gilman joins over 100 Americans whom President Trump has freed during his second term in office.
We thank Russia for working with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to release Mr. Gilman and allowing him to receive the necessary medical treatment here in the United States.
While we appreciate this positive step, we are still seeking the immediate return of all other unjustly detained Americans, including wrongful detainee Stephen Hubbard. The President will not stop until all unjustly detained Americans are home.” [citation]

If only he’d been a lesbo basketball player he wouldn’t have had to wait for Trump and Rubio!
Nor would have Gonzalo Lira. Except he was brutally tortured and murdered before he got a chance.
almost certainly by the same regime this guy worked for.
Thank you Victoria Nuland. Well at least his death got rid of Tori forever. Not much compensation for his family.
What lesbo basketball player? That’s a man , baby.
Post of the day! 🤣
I’m a man and I can affirm I’ ve been a lesbian all my life
.
Longshoreman:
A lesbian with a long oar, man.
Rush Limbaugh used to say , “I am a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.” So far ahead of the curve!
more likely tranny than lesbo.
You forgot the “poc” with drugs part.
Welcome home, Mr. Gilman, and may God bless you and your family.
It’s my understanding that Mr. Gilman is in very poor health. May God bring him healing and comfort.
If that is him in the photo above, he looks very emaciated and those circles under his eyes, esp the right eye……hopefully, a restful night’s sleep after eating that hamburger…restful sleep including and soft, warm bed, blankets and pillows…
He is young enough to recover. Prayers up!!!!
No, he needs more than a good night’s sleep.
He was ill when arrested. That was partly why he drew the attention of the police. Apparently he was vomiting and acting strange and that’s why they thought he was publicly intoxicated. While incarcerated he got worse.
I don’t remember his exact diagnosis now but would imagine the “humanitarian release” was because he’s severely ill. Not just a goodwill gesture. The Russians didn’t want him dying in their prison, IMHO.
I did not know abut the prior/current illness…but yes, you are right on an untimely passing. Am remembering that young man, Otto, I think is name was…
I stilll hope a full tummy and warm bed does him some good…and the million dollar medical work up that he will receive. And, should receive, rightly so.
Amen!
This is what he looked like at his sentencing in April, just a few months ago.
Good sign. President Trump and Putin working together.
Christian Russia and Christian U.S. are natural allies. I pray President Trump can form an alliance and mutually beneficial relationship with Russia. This is a top priority.
Christian russia has some awfully strange bedfellows. See iran,nk,eg
“Christian” is a term thrown around loosely.
Russian Orthodox as opposed to Muslim or atheist, but not necessarily born again Christian theology like in the USA.
Just as the Catholic Church here can tolerate homosexual child grooming (and worse), an Orthodox “Christian” like Putin can justify murdering people who oppose him. Journalists, politicians, oligarchs.
It’s an apples and oranges comparison. Da? Nyet?
Gee, thanks. I guess you never read any of those newspaper articles about “born again” pastors and youthful parishioners. Luckily for them, there are no centralized “deep pockets” to be tapped.
You’re welcome.
You’re only proving my point. Claiming to be “Christian” doesn’t mean anything, no matter what the denomination.
It’s how one lives and behaves.
The Catholic Church has been doing it for CENTURIES, though. Not decades. And they STILL haven’t cleaned up their act. Pretty obvious to any observer of history.
I personally know two siblings (male and female) who were sexually abused by their priest as children and both people are gay adults now. Coincidence? So, yeah, that church needs to be shamed and blamed.
More kids are abused by teachers and coaches than Catholic priests even comparing size of each group population wise. The Catholic Church hierarchy caused the issue to be exaggerated far more than it should have been and tainted all priests forever because they foolishly tried to cover it up in every way they could. Bad move.
The Catholic Church is no worse than many other religious groups, imo, but its history and the amount of its population provides plenty of reasons it was made into the villain it always is. The Vatican has been a political entity since the beginning of its power and has been involved in many corrupt issues to this day. This is not who real Catholics and Christians are.
The Jews and Catholics are by far the most hated religious groups in the world. Christ himself predicted this. His church would be persecuted like God’s chosen people, the Jews, would be.
Christianity in total is probably the most persecuted religious group overall in the world yet none of us will stop our belief in Jesus Christ as our lord and savior and that is right and good. Why isn’t Islam, the most hate filled violent religion in the world, not considered the one to be hated?
Yes and most of these abuse cases are brought up after the accused has passed away. My suspicion is that there is a money grab opportunity involved.
I found tremendous success having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which grants me the benefit of steering clear of all the numerous land mines that comes with being involved with any organized religion.
Much happiness and no stress comes as I work hard on improving that relationship every single day. It may not work for everybody but I think anybody can do it if they try hard enough.
Good for you. I will stay with my Catholic faith.
A man made ‘religion’ which has abused children, and still is trafficking and practicing child sacrifice to this day, among many other crimes..ie. Illegal Alien support! imho!
But enough said about the Lutherans in Minnesota…
And you’ve had your say.
There is a teaching in the Catholic church that Jesus founded a theology not an institution. The physical church is not needed for a relationship with God. Obviously not the churches belief.
Minced words.
In other words, you are the product of end-stage Protestantism that Jung feared for its corrosion of social cohesion.
Wow it’s been a while since I’ve heard a catechetical communist. Christianity is not a religion, religious is man-made. To be a disciple of Jesus is to have a personal relationship with him through the Living Word of God. When a person puts in the effort to study, (to hear), without exception the outcome is not that you know Christ it’s that Christ knows you because you keep his words.
I love it when people bring up Carl Young or Sigmund Freud the two great branches of psychology that have brought us a world of confusion and drug addiction. The former a nihilist and the latter and occultist. And with a simple look at the history of the “church” one can see that nearly all the reformers were Catholic priests.
Three measures of leaven.
If you can’t answer your last sentence then I can’t help you with the rest of the nonsense you posted.
All churches share the blame. It not just the one.
Not true. There were NO scandals in the church I was brought up in. All institutions are run by humans and we are all sinners. All have fallen short of the glory.
But ONE church in particular has a lousy track record and because it’s so large it has an international, generational problem. It’s not like pointing to Jimmy Swaggard and saying, “Look, see!” It’s more like one priest in every major city across the world. It’s not that someone tried to pick on the Catholic priests, it’s that an uncomfortably disproportionate number of them are perverts and the leadership shuffled them around and tried to hide the problem. Don’t blow smoke up my frock, please.
Trying to share the blame does not diminish that fact. And most allegations are brought up WHEN THE VICTIM becomes an adult and finally has the guts to come forward, not after the death of the accused. The accused dies because they run out the clock on prosecuting the crime if ever!
You can keep rationalizing your leaders’ behaviors if you want. I won’t pretend. It’s irrelevant anyway. Others doing wrong doesn’t make it right and shouldn’t make it acceptable. The Catholic Church makes a big deal about peoples’ works, their actions … except when it’s sexual perversion among some of their clergy. Unacceptable for the church that claims to be the direct descendent of Jesus through His apostle Peter. Truly blasphemous.
It totally is.
Young men are going to traditional churches more often, young women to these independent megachurches. We have seen many of those pastors are nothing but schemers. Look at how a church adheres to the Bible, especially St. Paul’s teachings to find one that is a true church.
Young women are increasingly drawn to large non-denominational churches for their flexible worship styles and emphasis on personal spiritual growth, while young men are more likely to attend traditional churches that align with structured denominational values and clear gender roles.
We have Christian churches in the US just as lost right now.
it should have been since fall of Evil Empire 1991…..where is 2nd of world diplomat ..Marco ???
The US should have supported Admiral Alexander Kolchak and the Whites during the Russian Civil War. 1917 – 1922.
Nice work, President Trump.
Prayers have been answered. Welcome home Mr Gilman.
May GOD Bless America and may God continue to bless Donald J Trump!
This is the way!
Wonderful
thank you President Putin and President Trump…
Thank you
POTUS Trump
thank you, Lord
I learned long ago in business, that if you don’t have a seat at the table, you can’t influence policies and events.
As distasteful as some may find it, you must maintain relationships with the worse kind of dictators and criminals who run many more countries around the world than we would like to believe. Otherwise, folks like Mr. Gilman would no doubt have died in prison and other events, which would otherwise escalate unnecessarily, can be avoided (as an example, I’m thinking of the North Korean dictator, who was intent on an intimidation campaign with his missiles, in DJT’s first term).
President Trump is one heck of a negotiator who’s respected worldwide. Thank you, Mr. President! Welcome home, Mr. Gillman!
Coincidence that
Ex-Syrian Bashar al Assad who is in exile in Russia was
Convicted of war crimes and sentenced to death today should he ever return to Syria.
Coincidence that USA cuts a deal today for removal of nuclear material out of some covert site in Syria.
What is this nuclear material all about? Who put it there?
Who owns it.
Was it part of the JCPOA?
The USA supposedly helped remove heavy water from Iran during the JCPOA years.
Coincidence…Russia releases our 4-year hostage.
imho, There is a lot more to this story.

The guy was deathly ill. It’s big world with America and Russia as dominant players. Other than that I don’t think the two things are related.
This is glorious news, and I’m sure his mother wept tears of joy when she heard.
Not getting any coverage is the continuing work of our full of beauty and grace First Lady who has just completed the fifth reunification of Ukrainian and Russian children with their families….
Who, I am certain, also wept with equal gratitude.
I’m equally sure that Melania knows she has the power to make someone else happy and is putting that power to good use…bless her 🙏🏻
MAGA.
Wonderful news! I hope he isn’t too ill to recover. You just know he wasn’t handled with velvet gloves.
Thank you, President Trump for you and your team’s unrelenting work!
Welcome home, Marine. Semper Fi. And thank you, Mr. President (and throw in some fries and a shake with that burger).
Robert, thank you for your service and welcome home to America. Don’t spend too much time looking back just focus on moving forward to better times that await you down your path ahead. Best wishes, heal, and get up and go on to enjoy your new life that is waiting for you with open arms.
😊 🙏
Never give up on hope and always have faith.
Is the return
an indirect gesture of thanks from r
for…
not giving corrupt u k r
a license to build
u.s. designed munitions?
I do not need to know.
4 yrs incarcerated in rus.
Is that better or worse than the d c jail where J6r’s, without trial, spent time ( and some did not survive the experience )?
Did the press get a picture of J6r’s being released, or getting a hamburger?
hmmm…
I do not know
Love thy neighbors…
The winning continues. 🙂
Word has it that he will be admitted to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
There is so much anti-Catholic bigotry on this thread, which is about the last place I’d expect to run into it.
It’s always from the same handful of people. Shame on you (and you know who you are).
A school teacher huh? Any chance he was wearing a black outfit when they arrested him. Waiting for the ‘thank you President Trump for getting my release’. Mom will probably have to write it and, more than likely say the words.
Cheeburga, cheeburga. No Pepsi. Only Coke.
Just one question and so far I haven’t been able to find an answer. What was he doing in Russia during the Biden years anyway? Either stupid or he carries his sack in a wheel barrow.
