During an Oval Office event to announce the remodel of Washington DC, Dulles airport, President Trump took questions from the assembled press pool. The questions begin at 16:30, prompted:

If one is able to travel then, its nice.
I can’t afford the petrol to go to ORD, let alone book a flight to our Nation’s Capitol.
$4.49.9 a gallon by me.
I always prefer to just drive.
I’ve stopped flying awhile ago.
Especially during Covid.
The stewardesses were just absolutely terrible.
Yep, and plenty of TSA agents make shopping mall rent-a-cops look competent.
Actually, TSA has done a very good job. We haven’t had a commercial airline hijacked since September 11, 2001. Why would you mock them as “mall cops?”
Those hijackings were specifically allowed to happen by the intel community to pave the way for the Patriot Act.
Tell me again what useful purpose TSA serves, other than to condition people to obey the security theater?
TSA = Thousands Standing Around
Touch Some Ass
They’re not all nicely touchable either.
More like…
Tickle
Some
Ass
More like billion$
H/t to the late Tom Marr.
Creating another queue and gov bureaucracy to maintain illusions and curate perceptions.
You forgot the sarcasm tag.
I have been in commercial aviation since before DHS was formed. While that doesn’t mean I have expert knowlege vis à vis TSA, it does mean that relative to most people outside the TSA I have greater knowledge.
Your comment is spot on as sarcasm. Otherwise it is an uninformed joke.
Then you know that the private sector minimum wage screening was a pathetic joke. TSA has a tough and thankless job that they have done very well! The fact that you’re inconvenienced isn’t their fault.
Spending almost two hours in line to be yelled at and treated like cattle is not what I would call “inconvenienced” .
Herded is apt
It made me quit flying just as retirement gave me the time.
It most certainly is their fault. Israel has a better record than the TSA. Their procedures look nothing like what we have here. They profile the passengers. My grandmother is not a terrorist and everybody knows this.
This!
My dad had metal knees and paperwork from the doc and they still harassed the hell out of him.
Not any longer but I used to fly regularly without any carry on anything or checked. Just lil ole me. I carried my passport for ID
EVERY time I was “randomly selected” for additional “screening”!
(as boasserg is randomly assigned to every Trump case)
Me too!
Yes, Israel is better at everything. Perhaps it’s the passengers and not the screeners that are the problem?
Thank you! This Grandmother isn’t a terrorist either and they know that. Still they can’t wait to pat me down and stick their hands in my pants. Just for fun.
My husband is 75 and has Parkinson’s. We went through PreTSA line and after his bag went through the scanner he was “randomly” selected to have his bag checked. His bag wasn’t flagged. What a waste.
Completely useless…Next time you spead them in the millimeter wave booth know that you are not getting a rad dose but you are being profiled and humiliated.
I’m not humiliated because I refuse to b a victim.
Good grief. TSA is a joke. Insane little people without a clue.
Oh my goodness you are serious.
You think it’s due to the diligence of TSA ?
There haven’t been any ARMED hijackings anywhere since 9/11 other than a few in third-world, very sketchy countries.
There are manymore flights around the world than just in the USA. Other countries don’t have the TSA lines, the ultra-expensive scanners, the rudeness. Yet somehow they haven’t had hijackings either.
And there HAVE been a number of unarmed hijacking attempts in the US. There have been multiple incidents with psychologically disturbed passengers attacking flight-crew, sometimes attempting to rush or break into the cockpit doors, sometimes attempting to open emergency exits in flight. Sometimes making (false) threats about bombs or weapons onboard. There have even been incidents of off-duty flight crew attempting to sabotage the aircraft, including that one case of the guy who turned off fuel to the engines.
TSA procedures do nothing to prevent those kinds of incidents. It’s possible the TSA might even make incidents more likely, by prompting crazy people to do crazy things. Those kinds of “air-rage” problems never happened years ago before TSA came along.
A reinforced cockpit door, all by itself and a policy of never opening it during flight, would have prevented 911 too. Probably at one ten-millionth the cost vs today.
It is theater, even ABC reports 50% failure on security in 2017
https://abcnews.com/US/tsa-fails-tests-latest-undercover-operation-us-airports/story?id=51022188
After looking for newer ratings & failing, I asked Brave AI:
No publicly released failure rate data for the TSA in 2025 exists because the agency has classified all detailed results of undercover testing since 2017.
The most recent specific figures cited in 2025 discussions refer to historical data from 2015 and 2017, which indicated failure rates between 80% and 95% in detecting mock weapons and explosives.
So if they classified it…. it is because it is bad or worse than reported, otherwise if it was great they would allow that now would they not?
I can vouch for the 80-95% failure to detect mock weapons.
True story: my brother is a captain for one of the major airlines. He was pulled aside by TSA security higher ups to put a mock weapon in his carry-on and go thru security, which he did: put it in the middle of his items and went thru TSA security. Nothing was said. A bit jarred–as any pilot would be–he walked out of the secured area, rearranged the contents of his carry on so the mock weapon would be ON TOP of everything–only the material of the bag was between the scanner and the mock weapon. He went thru TSA security again–and was not stopped.
He gave back the mock weapon to the TSA higher-ups, told them what happened. He had no idea what, if anything, was ever done.
He’s been keeping a “count-down to retirement” clock ever since, doing whatever he can financially to make it even earlier than required by the airlines. I think he has it down to age 59 or 60 right now.
how many potential terrorists have they stopped? Zero.
Yeap the days of come fly with me and the lovely stewardesses is long past.
I recall in the days of my youth, my aunt came to visit and she brought a friend of hers who was a stewardess for TWA, Kay was her name. Even though she wasn’t in uniform at the time, she was very pretty and I fell in love… at 7 – 8 years old. LOL
I did fly last week to avoid a three day drive and #2 stew was hot so it still happens.
What about the stewardmen…😎
Or aren’t they a thing any longer.
Stewards 😊
Sorry, posted the same
The world has left me behind.
It’s just steward. Like on a cruise ship.
Flight attendants is what I believe the appropriate title is.
Woke title.
See above. Meant for your comment here.
At least it’s not “associate.”
Politically correct garbage
The service standards on domestic airlines match those you will find everywhere else. Everyone is going through motions. No smiles. It’s a sad state of affairs.
Two years ago I had the unhappy experience of having to pass through a TSA checkpoint.
My back acted up as I removed my shoes. I groaned.
The grease haired pimple face TSA agent took that as me voicing a complaint. He stopped the line of travelers as he launched into a tirade of how he (yes, he himself) has protected all of us from the terrorists. And I, looking squarely at me, should show gratitude for the hard work that he has done by putting himself at the frontlines. Then he muttered a pejoritive under his breath.
Fellow passengers stood slack jawed looking at me wondering what I had said.
Of course, everyone may have a bad day. I reckon the only reason he would say such a thing is because he enjoys the protective status of fedgov employee.
This was at RDU Raleigh-Durham.
I would’ve said right back to him “ Excuse me; I’m in pain and this is very difficult for me without a chair” while mustering my most disgusted look.
They do not care. It is all about them and their heads full of mush.
That’s what you get when recruit “agents” on pizza boxes.
Most of the original TSA hires were previously “gate valets” for the airports/airlines. Didn’t know jack. And it’s been downhill ever since.
Funny how state and federal government employees all go to the same school to learn how to be completely lazy ass wipes that treat people like S**t
I tell people thinking about a gvt job if you have any character at all the system will wear you down and destroy you.
I came to the point of refusing work on any gvt project.
Just think… there was a plan tossed about during the later years of the Dubya administration that proposed to expand the mission of the TSA to include bus/train/subway stations and even stadiums, arenas, and theaters. Talk about mission creep.
The country would have “ground” to a halt for sure. 😉
I’ve only flown once in the last 8 years. I like being my own uber/navigator/boss. Flying used to be fun. Now, it’s rude and obnoxious.
<I’ve only flown once in the last 8 years.>
Last time I flew…a photon got on the plane.
The steward asked him if he had any luggage…
He said no…I’m traveling light. 🙂
I give that one an “11”. I like it!
Last time I flew a tsa agent got on the plane.
The steward ask him is if had any luggsge…He said yes… I randomly checked my bag.😳
I stopped flying 20 years ago. I don’t miss it a bit. Being retired makes my life a helluva lot less chaotic. I take my shoes off to relax, not to check for bombs! If I see a turban or hijab, the best they get is cursory glance. I live in America and if they want anything from me, assimilate! I can respect other’s culture, but here, don’t shove it down my throat! I left that public loudspeaker crap 50 some years ago in S.E. Asia and I’m not interested in your propaganda! IMHO.
United Airlines !!
I stopped flying in 2018, air travel turned into a nightmare for me every time I flew.
I had my fill!!
I read down this far to try and find out what TSA stands for – but no luck they don’t sound very nice.
$6 a gallon gas and a Democratic House and Senate is a worthwhile price to pay for Jared to get his bag 💰
My husband paid $3.57/gal in Lufkin, TX today.
So you’re not willing to pay a little more at the pump for a few months to take the weapon of a nuclear armed Iran off the game board?
Nope. If you trust Ms. Gabbard…
I’m definitely willing to go through a little economic adjustment in order to remove the most dangerous regime in the world . Soon we’ll have very low gas and food prices! Trust the plan!
I will post this once again for the gas price whiners… The national average price for gasoline (all grades and blends) during the previous administration was $5.03 per gallon in June of 2022 (think Inflation Reduction Act/Green New Deal). Currently, that average is a dollar less than that. Prices will eventually drop for gasoline, food, etc. however, if you are thinking that prices will fall to Trump 1.0/pre – Covidmania levels think again.
Considering the impact of DEI on airline maintenance and air traffic control, I’ll never get on a plane again.
Any time, anywhere I see DEI, I leave. They are as easy to spot as a Dalmatian.
$3.549 in SE WI for me today.
Doesn’t matter how low/high fuel goes, I’m never subjecting myself to the airport Gestapo again. Ever.
I paid $5.95 a gallon in Carlsbad Ca last night. Enough is enough!
I just realized I’m paying all my bills and putting my food and gas on credit card. I have a $250 deficit every month and it is going on credit card, along with minor medical office payments. Along with auto insurance and home insurance and life insurance. Who will be the first to go?
About time. When you find out that Phnom Penh has a nicer airport than yours back home.

Re: Iran
“we gotta smack ‘em a little bit” -DJT
🤣 love him!
The Master of Understatement
This is gonna be the one! Just a few more bombs and everything falls into place!
I’m amazed with his passion for improving our country in the midst of everything else on his many plates.
We recall gas $ 1.79( Jan 2021) , as he was being forced out. Prices are not dropping as he is improving our economy hugely.
Something is off.
Are the food/gas industries gouging?
In AZ hobbs vetoes every tax break so…
I firmly believe that prices are being kept high on purpose to help tank the midterms for the GOP. Especially in dem controlled states.
Agree. It’s all they have to stand on. We know it’s happening in AZ.
We track the veto queen hobbs every bill.
Any bill to help ease financial burden in AZ , she vetoes.
Every single one.
Well I live in Fraudopolis, Minnesota and tampon tim has kept the high taxes and prices in place. Even hinting at a 13% increase in our property taxes.
Trump needs to call in some favors and ask his ME allies to open the spigots, flood the market, and get oil to $60/bbl. Or between 50-60.
Its not about oil price its about refining capacity and availability of distillate
Oil is oversupplied but gas and diesel cant keep up with demand
About half those spigots and the pipes and boats to transport it are destroyed or trapped.
When you realize these people that want him gone ,impeached him over nothing twice, and let loose a virus to cause death, chaos and mail-in ballots, so raising the price of gas may not be what they are plotting right now.
Scary but probably correct.
If the Democrats win in November we as a nation lose our freedoms! I’m sure they are behind these high prices and are probably supporting IRAN! They don’t care who they get in bed with in order to have power. Communist, Muslims or Terrorist they don’t care because they’re useful idiots! I think I have made myself clear!
I think the petroleum industry would much rather have a “Drill Baby Drill” Republican in office than a “Green New Deal ” democrat.
I believe the gas prices are being kept high and if they are kept high then the food prices are kept high. A lot of people are still working from home, so gas is not being consumed like it was before.
And Iran, when is he going to learn that they never keep their word. Just bomb them into oblivion and be done with them.
Thank you.
Two major grocery chains in Phoenix Frys/Kroger (big Corp) and WinCo (employee owned).
As gas went down so did WinCo prices while Kroger keeps raising theirs.
I’ve been told that Trump is using these peace pauses waiting for their attacks so we can wipe out the hidden sources! Eventually, they will have NOTHING because we will have wiped out all their resources!
Every commodity, resource, and widget is managed for maximum extraction of $$$ for those positioned to benefit from it. Primarily multinationals who completely dominate market segments in multiple nations.
Speaking of which, there are some three meat processing companies that control 85%+ of the market for processing beef, pork, chicken, etc in the United States.
Price fixing on the gas

Thank you, he’s aware.
God please give him strength to keep going.
Amen!
Gas around southern Missouri goes up and down pretty fast depending on what is happening in Iran.
I travel Illinois to Missouri often. Crossing the Mississippi bridge gas is 50 cents to dollar cheaper.
Here in New Mexico, gas price is $3.99/gal, up from $3.77/gal ten days ago.
Why does the “average American” care about (much less benefit from) spending money on the “district”, much less…. Dulles?
They don’t care and Washington DC doesn’t deserve it.
Clean the name “Dulles” off of it first. Wicked Deep State Trash.
Rename it Trump International Airport!
Yes. Dulles was an evil bastard and his namesake is a complete s-show.
Trump Ben Gurion International
It is beautiful and fitting for the Capitol of the US.
There is no “capitol” of 50 sovereign “States”. If there is, those states aren’t “sovereign”. Wait….
Someones gettin it…
Temporary gas spike so our grandchildren will not face Iranian nukes–that’s a bargain!
Thanks, President Trump!
Can’t the IRGC just buy one from Russia, China, Pakistan, India or North Korea? They have the money for it and all they need is a corrupt general on the other end!
If those countries wanted to give nukes to Iran it would already have happened. Even they know the Mullahs have a death wish and would use them on Israel in a heartbeat.
Yes, and then would proceed to use them on other Christian countries.
You need to stop watching MSM.
That’s a troll account, Scotty.

Has anyone ever been to the Cleveland Hopkins Airport? It’s a chaotic mess and always has been. Tampa is one of the best I ever went through.
We have gone through Cleveland Hopkins twice in recent years and found it quick and efficient!
Perhaps it depends upon the day, time of day, airline…?
I have a friend that routed in and out of Cleveland (from Florida!) for his frequent European business trips because it was so much more efficient.
Did you say “press pool” or “CESSpool”?
Same thing.
Dulles is dirty and confusing. The shuttle drivers are very nice and helpful. The gentlemen who helped my mom and Aunt find me was wonderful. I prefer National but Dulles is closer. It should not look like the 1970s.
The model airport that Trump is displaying does not match the picture above.
OF COURSE THERE IS BIPARTISAN SUPPORT! THE UNIPARTY SWAMP CREATURES ALL USE THIS AIRPORT!
IF THIS WERE NOT THE CASE, THE LAWSUITS WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEGUN!
Like most things the federal government involves itself in, Dulles is a case of spending grift. Just comparing two airports, Dulles has four runways with plans for a fifth runway underway. The number of passengers that went through Dulles in 2025 was 29 million.
Changi airport in Singapore has three runways. In 2025 almost 70 million passengers went through Changi and that number is increasing every year.
Changi is at or near the top of the list for best airport in the world. Dulles doesn’t get a mention.
But, billions of $$ will be spent to remodel it. My guess is that it will be like Seattle Tacoma airport which has had billions of dollars spent for remodeling and what you see is new carpet and paint. It’s still a poor airport. Airport grift is the new thing.
Crooks see “free” government money and come running. Politicians don’t care because it’s not their money. Crooks kick back part of that money into political campaign coffers to keep politicians in power. Politicians approve even MORE “free” government money. And so, and so on.
Yes New Orleans was a grift and it continues. It is already filthy because the obese employees treat it like their homes and don’t care. TSA in NOLA should have already been dealt with. Now you have to reserve a parking space if you want to park in deck is some of the new bad idea changes.
Don’t know that New Orleans was a grift; seems much better than the old terminal but while I was there they hadn’t finished the access off the I-10 so the last couple miles was a pain. Then most the parking was still at the old terminal on the other side. One good thing maybe is that the speed traps Kenner police had along the access to the old terminal maybe are things of the past.
Re Dulles, my wife had orders to Naval Security Group in DC back in 72 and in those days she says you could park right in front of the terminal. Now when we go through Dulles it’s like going to a third-world country. I really hated the “people movers” you had to take to get to the midfield terminal where most the United gates were. When I worked in NoVa across from National, the terminal was pretty quirky but if you went there enough you figured out all the secrets, like the road network and a certain metered parking area right by the door. That was before 911 of course when things got locked down.
As far as TSA these days, my complaint is every airport has different procedures. It’s gotten a little better about when you need a boarding pass though my wife and I decline to get the photo and recently I was chewed out by TSA because I didn’t follow their magic process to opt out (never had a problem with any other TSA).
Living on an island in the middle of the Pacific, we spend a lot of time on airplanes. The biggest complaint I have is now everything is an up-sell. Even Hawaiian, which used to treat you well on mainland flights since the merger with Alaska is reverting to the mean (pay upfront via the “app” for a crap “meal”).
And what’s the deal now where everyone has to bring their stupid mutt along with them?
One advantage we have as retired military is access to Air Mobility Command “airlines”, though flying stand-by as Cat VI is its own experience (and yes, there is TSA at pax terminals on base). Remember one time we were paxxing out of Andrews and I guess Hillary/FLOTUS was flying somewhere and her press was corralled into a room off the pax term. The pressies were walking around acting like they were some sort of big-shots for flying with her. The good thing that trip though is that an air force three star let us ride in his (IIRC) gulfstream. His aide had to sit in the jump seat so there was no way that flag had to let a couple retirees on; was very generous of him.
Every time Trump takes questions in a media event or gaggle, the male reporters are pretty much vacant.
Just an observation. The world has changed.
Another example of airport grift is the wholesale swapping of airport workers for Somalis, Ethiopian, Congolese, etc.
They do the cleaning, baggage handling, guides, and whatever jobs are available.
I was surprised to see wheelchair attendants wheeling passengers to their gates and then receiving cash tips. This used to be a strict no no but now it’s commonplace.
On my last trip I saw a couple of these workers who were obviously under the influence of something.
Convenient when you run a big money laundering operation out of a major airport like Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
Millions worth in stolen money from fraud schemes sent though there that we know about and likely plenty more that we do not know about.
Ethiopians run a lot of such operations (Airport Parking, City Parking, Building Security, Additional Airport Security) in the DC area.
I’ve never not tipped the wheelchair folks. Years ago $5 was pretty much my standard though not a tenner.
We prefer the farm and an occasional meal in town on a Saturday afternoon. That might just be burger and a ice cream at the grill and cold cream. There is a wait for those 5 tables inside. Lol
I don’t enjoy flying at all But I have grandchildren 5 nonstop flight hours away.
That is well worth any inconvenience.
PDJT
What the heck happened to the markets today? Iran?
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/07/just-federal-reserve-leaves-rates-unchanged-2/
The Fed is playing with interest rates before the mid term elections. Afterwards I would expect some significant raises. Inflation is not controlled.
The indexes dropped by 1.5 to just over 2%. That is not a big drop at all.
.
Went out of/back into Dulles for international flight this month.
Horror show.
I’m just an average American. Where is Dulles airport again?
It’s in VA about 20 mile West of DC. There is the Dulles Toll Road (at 495 South just before Tyson’s Corner, VA) that goes to the airport.
Back in my day the Dulles Toll Road was free if you actually went to the airport. Commuters would drive in, pick up a copy of the WaPo for $0.25, get back in the car and head into DC. Though I guess these days you have the option of the Metro silver line.
Happy for all that could keep their comments limited to the airport discussion. The questions during this press coference ripped the scab/scar I’ve formed re how much evil had to go into the formation of the “plandemic.”
Funny how the teleprompter wrote ” Fouchy”, and on another topic “Foon” for Thune. Really appreciated the light comedyl=.
Mine said zoom for Thune. Made me chuckle in a sad sort of way. Many knew here Thune was a traitor. The Professor taught us long ago the Pubbie senate leader had more power in the minority. Most politicians are scum bags. My experience and great disappointment in 75 times around the sun. I have to rely on 1 Peter 5:17 frequently. That and benevolent attachment. (Giving everyone & everything to God) It’s the only way to remain sane.
Has anyone noticed the majority of people employed as airport crews are probably not born in the USA? Do they go through a TSA check as they clock into work?
Good question and I doubt it. In my recent travel through SeaTac airport there was a guy directing people to passport control. He was dancing and it was obvious he was on something. In a secure environment like that there should be zero tolerance on drugs/alcohol and especially on the job.
Almost all the workers were from Africa.
There was news recently of an illegal alien working as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.
With what money is this airport project being funded please? Still no jail time for people……waiting……still waiting…..
i still pay $4.49 a gallon for, gas. What happened to this Golden Age of America? I’m retired and should be enjoying this part of life, but I struggle as always. Voted every time for Trump. Very disappointed.
Looking for instant gratification, are we?
“i still pay $4.49 a gallon for,gas.”
Be thankful you have it good.
Is this guy real?
NOT the most important thing to me or many others.
THE economy is not what most people think it is, the pundits push, the media state.
Mainstream Americans are suffering: high fuel prices, insur (home, car, MEDICAL) that is out of control, soaring and causing major issues day-to-day. Med insur SHOULD be scrapped entirely and start over. bho destroyed the med care, insur, MD/patient relationship, destroyed hospitals, medicare and medicade.
Mainstream have seen little help from this administration. And I get biden would have been much, much worse, but congress has FORGOTTEN about us, period.
The dem socialist party and agenda will consume the dem party eventually. Making big strides. THEIR motto: the people are being shafted and destroyed, follow us. And people are.
R party needs a major revamp. Leadership is horrible. Tea Party tried, failed. Conservatives (real conservatives) have NO place in the party and few, very few, representatives.
AGain, nice to revamp Dulles, but not top of my mind today.
God Bless those troops in harm’s way. Protect them, Lord.
Lived there Waaaaayyyyy too long but this redo is much over due. The place was a disaster. Reagan airport not much better either. Actually I can’t think of one US airport that is NOT a disaster.
Expel all muslims,There is no point in trying to sort them into good or bad muslims. They all have to go or your children will be ended by them
