The professionally Republican have been pretending to have 20-minute discussions with Senator Mitch McConnell in an effort to keep the Democrat governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, from appointing a replacement.
Beshear has now openly began to challenge the assertions of the professionally Republican team and demand proof of life and capability or he will replace McConnell.
WASHINGTON DC – Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he is willing to launch a legal challenge to allow him to choose Mitch McConnell’s replacement if the senator cannot return to office.
Beshear, a Democrat, told MS NOW’s Politics Nation host Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday that he “might make some news right here” while revealing the potential options he has as governor to replace the 84-year-old, whose health has been the subject of intense speculation for weeks.
[…] there is a Kentucky constitutional provision that says that I appoint all state officers when there’s a vacancy,” he added. “The question is, does that apply to federal offices? Well, before there was ever a law in Kentucky on how this would work, multiple appointments were made by governors, assumably under that provision.” (read more)

This would be the ultimate Democrat Lawfare at work.
All the RINOs have to do is produce Mitch smiling and waving from his wheelchair as his aide pushes him into the ice cream shoppe.
The RINOs are pulling another version of Lawfare.
I am surprised that Beshear hasn’t appointed someone yet. Why not? He’s a Democrat, he can do whatever he wants.
Last I checked the Kentucky Revised Statutes required a special election and the Governor could not just appoint someone.

Rep. Beshear is blowing smoke. This is the new law but it has not been tested. The scuttlebutt here in Kentucky is that he will do whatever he wants and be challenged in court. Do not be surprised if he names himself or the current Democrat nominee for the November election.
Could things be much worse without MCknuckle. Let the clown show begin circus fans! 😎
Popcorn is all ready for the microwave Sir!!!
If you think Platner was a radical choice for the DNC Marxists, wait till you see who Beshear tries to advance.

Forgot about her. On purpose.

It’s just “The Chicks”, you raaaciiiiiist. [sarc]
He might try to name himself. He can’t run for governor again.
Are there no rules or laws in Congress or Senate when it comes to the health of these geriatric patients ?
Supreme Court as well because we sat and watched FNC run a Ruth Ginsburg has passed away only to never see her again and life support or a performance by the DS keeping her vote alive.
Turtle boy and many in his condition should be expelled and removed from government when they can no longer stand on their own two feet let alone being married to a PLA-CCP agent.
If our Founding Fathers would have put in term limits (among other things) if they could have seen the future.
Our Founders did have term limits in the Articles of Confederation but realized how bad an idea it is, they eliminated it in our US Constitution

McCONNELL MYSTERY
[…If McConnell dies or resigns due to incapacity, then Kentucky’s Democrat governor, Andy Beshear, gets to appoint his replacement.
Thankfully, state law requires that the appointee be drawn from a list submitted by the departing senator’s party. So you’d still get a Republican, but which Republican becomes a huge, bloody, political knife fight.
…Ironically, Democrats have to keep their big fat mouths shut, which must hurt like the Dickens. They can’t complain, since they concealed stroke victim John Fetterman in the hospital and then inpatient care for ‘depression and post‑stroke complications’ for months at a time in 2023, while insisting he was still 100% fit to serve, working from his hospital bed, and using carefully staged appearances and letters from doctors to calm concerns.
Whenever Republicans questioned Fetterman’s capacity or demanded more detail, Democrats and most corporate media framed it as discriminatory ableism and bad faith, not as any kind of legitimate transparency issue about a sitting senator. After all, expecting a United States Senator to be able to form a coherent sentence is a hate crime.
And that’s without even getting into the whole “Biden is sharp as a tack” thing.
…If McConnell somehow finishes out his term, the November winner —presumably Andy Barr, who is strongly favored to win— simply takes office as usual in January 2027. But if McConnell dies or resigns before then, Kentucky’s 2024 succession law kicks in: a special election must fill the vacancy.
But there’s a practical cutoff, around August 3rd, for calling a special election in time to coincide with this November’s ballot. If McConnell can keep the EEG beeping till after that date, the seat could then sit peacefully empty until November, or even longer, depending on how the timing interacts with various filing deadlines.]

How about the great people of Kentucky recall turtle traitor
This could end up being an unforced loss of a Senate seat to the ever more rabid DSA dims IMHO.
I really don’t think that the Senate GOP desires to be in the majority after the mid-terms.
If the Governor of Kentucky appoints a dim does the Senate have the capability or choice not to seat the appointee? They make their own rules to suit the moment after all…….
I think you’re right Monti. I believe the Senate GOP…hell, MOST of the GOP are just as focused on destroying this country as the demo-commie-pinko morons are.
Trust no one!
They are focused on whatever their money donors tell them to focus on, and representing their citizen constituents doesn’t even make the list.
A direct negative effect of the 17th Amendment… they no longer represent the STATE at all. They’re nothing more than glorified congressmen.
$5.8 BILLION IN DC LOBBYISTS FUNDING/yr for House/Senate members decides who gets appointed to Federal legislative seats, peons, not your easily manipulated electronic voting machines, regardless of how much cheating gets thru unchecked. Why do you think so many retire as multi-millionaires? Plus full salaried benefits they vote for themselves after short terms in office?
And that includes the newly sainted Lindsey Graham!
good question, but even if they could block the appointment of a different senator you know thune will not block it.
I did some searching and seems that the Senate could question the appointment and refuse to seat based on the process in Kentucky due to the Kentucky laws calling for a special election vice gov appointment.
FWIW.
We may find out cherokeepeople…..
Thune just got EXPOSED as having received $1.58 MILLION DOLLARS to kill the SAVE AMERICA VOTING ACT, you think he is going to change his mind because the 84% of USA citizens demand it?
Timing deserves scrutiny, right after Lindsey Graham’s replacement was sworn in?
Gibbs rules 39 and 40.
Disclaimer…I know Gibbs was an actor…but these Gibbs Rules really do speak volumes.
Let us hope that after the presidential address Thursday night some of our political actors will be busy with other concerns rather than their usual machinations Aggiegirl.
Again, I wonder about why it was announced 4 days ahead of time…I think we are starting to see why!
By Kentucky law, he can’t replace a Senator.
I hear you booger 71 but since when have dims shown any concern for the law when it comes to obtaining more power?
The KY Supreme Court has already upheld the law (passed in 2024 I think) Beshear vetoed it, but it was overturned.
“I really don’t think that the Senate GOP desires to be in the majority after the mid-terms.“
TRUTH! You are exactly right.
Beshear, now there’s a Democrat piece of work.
Kinda explains the weird McConnell photo.
all I see is cocaine howdy doody…
Now thats funny
The GOP steps on the rake yet again. This was totally avoidable, but the RINO’s all cling to power. The Dems do too, but Mitch is our problem.
Age limits, if not cognitive testing. I don’t want a guy or gal who is no longer fit to drive to drive my country.
He will do it even if he can’t do it. Dems just appoint people now like true Republic hating communist. He will appoint someone and then say, “what you going to do to stop me”.
Kentuckians, for a MAGA state you sure know how to elect some piss-poor people to people to represent you.
The illegal voting is the cause.
Over the past year was there ever a window to replace Mitch with a Special Election?
Many of us think that McConnell was hanging in there just to prevent Beshear from having a say.
He is retiring in Jan 27.
The Governor has every right to demand legitimate proof of life. That dopey photo doesn’t amount to that. I’ve watched a couple of vids which support the fact that particular pic was taken some time ago, while he was in a rehab facility following one of his falls.
The fact that Elaine almost immediately high-tailed it to China is significant. If the KY governor appoints a Dim – well, not much of a loss as Old Mitch was about as reliable as Romney, McCain, Murkowski.
WHO does anybody know with a spouse as sick as the turtle that leaves the country instead of their bedside? These are not humans. Remember when Pelosi missed her own brother’s funeral so she could go do politics?
These self appointed ‘elitists’ don’t think about love and marriage, like we normal people do. And in her case…?sarc
Unfortunately, seat count is done by the (D) and the (R) of the seat holder. If (D) has more seat holders, then all the machinations are under (D) ‘s control.
The ONLY chance the RINOS have at staying in power is to vote for the SAVE ACT and pretend to be statesman. I know it sounds crazy but I am right.
The DSA can beat them at the cheat. The useful idiots will vote for the DSA.
The only chance they have. Is to do a better job st pretending to be statesmen who actually care about their constituents. If they do that, they can play off their name recognition and have a chance at keeping their seats. If they don’t, the DSA will crush them.
Ironically, voting for the Save Act, to prevent the cheat, is their only chance of saving their seats.
They don’t want to be in the majority. They are paid more to be in the minority. Never forget, Rs want money, Ds want power!
That WAS true in the past. Now that tactic is “generals fighting the last war”.
Schumer and Jeffries recently got a dose of the new game being played . The DSA is crushing the new game.
If the Old Guarf wants to protect their seats from the DSA, they will need to convincing pretend to be statesman and hope their name recognition drags them across the finish line.
He should have retired long ago.
Relax. There is a law in place that requires the governor to call a special election.
https://www.lex18.com/news/state-of-the-commonwealth/kentucky-law-requires-special-election-to-fill-vacant-u-s-senate-seat-not-appointment
You are correct; however, the governor is just trying to make news and draw attention to himself:
“…Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he is willing to launch a legal challenge to allow him to choose Mitch McConnell’s replacement if the senator cannot return to office.
Beshear, a Democrat, told MS NOW’s Politics Nation host Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday that he “might make some news right here” while revealing the potential options he has as governor to replace the 84-year-old,…”
“Beshear has now openly began to challenge the assertions of the professionally Republican team and demand proof of life and capability or he will replace McConnell.”
I wish he would do a [fake] news conference for the MSM just so I can make popcorn.
I will be making popcorn on Thursday.
Now don’t laugh at me but I asked several different AIs and this is what they said:
Under current Kentucky law (House Bill 622, enacted in April 2024), if U.S. Senate seats become vacant — for any reason, including if Mitch McConnell is deemed incapacitated — the governor:
A special election will have its waters muddied by one Tom Massie……..with the assistance of the troll Rand Paul.
Beshear made that comment just before the Mitch McConnell proof of life photo/post.
This would not be an issue in the Commonwealth of KY if the 17th Amendment had not been added to Our Constitution. Prior to the 17A, the KY State House and Senate selected both Senators.
The 17th allowed Senators to be elected by popular vote. This removed power from the States IOW it stopped the States from controlling one branch of the Federal govt – The Senate. The Senate was the collective voice of the States.
Prior to the 17th, the individual States, either the Governor or State House and/or State Senate selected your 2 Senators AND the State’s had immediate RECALL authority as outlined in the State’s Constitution. Today a Senator is accountable to no one but their next election. 17th Amendment has no RECALL provision for Senators. That was no accident!!! Adding, changing or repealing a Constitutional Amendment is a long torturous path to success.
Especially one affecting any CongressCritters bec Senators and US House Reps alike will feel threatened by the loss of power. But Senators need to be accountable to someone other than themselves – but IMHO the repeal of the 17th is an absolute necessity.
Also, I’ve never actually checked, but I’ve read that every State still has the language in their State Constitution for Senator selection and recall should the 17th get repealed.
It would have to be a republican if he did appoint someone, right? While I consider McConnell a few sticks less than a democrat, he does have a republican seat. Therefore, would his replacement not have to be a republican, even a pretend one like McConnell? One thing on the positive, he would not have the clout McConnell still has.
Well that should be enough to bring the Turtle out of his shell, Climb on the fence post and declare he is fit as a fiddle.
China wife is gripping his left arm so tight its cut off the circulation in his hand, however, the hand does not match the arm up the sleeve.
Constitutional provisions?? Provisions??? WE don’t need no stinkin’ provisions!!! El Hefe Beshearez
Does the gov want to appoint al not so sharp to the senate?😂
I watched al and some local police escort him through a airport terminal area years ago.
Al was in a hurry.
He came across to me a a fast moving dufus with some jessie jackson clout.
I was not impressed.
fast talking/ moving impresses some people but not me.
He’s dead. Appoint MASSIE!
The Gov should just go visit the turtle. If he is in a rehab center he is well enough for visitors.
Andy Beshear is a DemonCrat and a rotten human being.
Having said that (as I brace for incoming attacks), what would be so bad about the evil Beshear breaking the law and violating the Constitution to pick a replacement right now? Here are my reasons:
1. If Beshear would do that, there would certainly be a RepubliCon legal challenge.
2. As part of the legal process, the RepubliCons would almost certainly be forced to provide “proof of life.” And I’m not talking about some AI generated phony picture. McConnell would have to show himself to the court.
3. That right there would be the end of the matter. If The Turtle is conscious and healthy, he can resume his work in the Senate. If he’s gorked out on a machine, or if he’s already assumed room temperature, then Kentucky law and the Constitution may be
followed to pick a replacement.
Whatever happens, one way or another, Beshear and the lying RepubliCons will both be revealed as fools and gangsters.
More people need to be exposed to that unfortunate truth.

That was the law in 2021, but that changed again in 2024. Now there is no list submitted. And the governor has no right to appoint.
Beshire is paaaissed as one of the boys on the short list with Kalamaram he was not chosen for that VP slot. He is off the charts DSP. So is the chick holding down the Lt Gov. with him.
Is he truly “vacant”? If he hasn’t resigned, then no. Just because he’s sick doesn’t mean he has quit. That means nobody can get sick, have surgery, therapy, whatnot. And I’m no fan of Cocaine Mitch.
This could work in our favor if it causes the 17th Amendment to be unconstitutional.
The Democrats engage in smash-mouth politics. The Republicans just play games.
