The House of Representatives formally transmitted the Housing Act bill to President Trump last week. The delivery sets in motion a 10-day period where the bill becomes law without action from the president.
The legislation goes into effect at midnight tonight.

I don’t know everything President Trump knows but I would have advised the President to veto the bill with a veto ceremony media event and explain Congress is encouraged to resubmit the bill with the SAVE America Act attached.
This letting it go into effect strikes me as a missed opportunity.

20 billion annually goes to a program called section 8 and it’s heavily abused.
And many in the building industry are indirectly effected by Section 8 housing. Most apartments built today have federal financing involved. Financing that requires a certain percentage of the apartments be rented to section 8 qualified people. So the building industry is supportive of another anti-middle class government program, just like they are with illegal aliens. Cut back on section 8 housing funding and the apartment tenant pool shrinks indirectly effecting cash flow of apartment landlords/builders. Less section 8 housing renters could effect the terms of the government loan also.
It is how Republicans and Democrats give tax payer dollars to their friends, ruining neighborhoods for profit and calling it charity. All our politicians need is kickbacks coming their way and they’ll move criminals into your neighborhood.
And yet there are many veterans who are constantly told there is no section 8 housing available for us. Plenty for illegals though.

I would say he should veto the bill, but it is veto-proof and they will just override it.
But, if he vetoed it with the explanation that the bill is duplicitous because it fails to address the real reason for the rise in housing and rental costs, which is illegal immigrants driving those costs up, then he might get somewhere with a veto. No member of Congress wants to go near that topic, so force them to address it.
This Bill is a disaster for new single-family homes. It pushes more Section 8 Homes and cities get Grants for High-Density Housing. FOX Business was talking about this today, and they tore this Bill apart.

Very Rich F_cking foreigners (hiding behind Holding Companies and LLP/LLC) are STILL buying up property and STILL advertising for SECTION 8 RENTERS. In Collin County TX, where I live, nearly 100+ properties are listed for SECTION 8 RENT … larger homes opened to multiple families.
This bill still has provisions for immigrants use of SECTION 8 money.

Why didn’t President Trump address the nation directly via video from the Oval Office instead of just posting on Truth Social? The Save America Act is important enough that he should have done that. He could have had blacks and hispanics stand behind him and have these Americans speak directly to the nation by saying, “We can handle things, we’re smart. Not like DC politicians say, like dumb. We’re smart. We can easily figure out how to get proof of citizenship and an I.D to vote.”
