Returning to the U.S. following the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, President Trump delivered remarks to the traveling press pool on a variety of subjects.
President Trump noted there was not a security issue surrounding the decision to switch AF1 in the U.K, gave remarks about the top-line issues from the NATO summit, said he had no information about Senator Mitch McConnell health and clarified that Spain had changed their tone in order to avoid a trade embargo. WATCH:
.
President Trump noted the original intent of NATO was a defensive treaty against Soviet aggression. As a consequence of the construct the Europeans should always bear the brunt of responsibility for their collective defense. Russia does not represent a threat to the United States.

Lost me when he said Zelensky was great. Not even a NATO member but its his call and this is mine.
It is annoying to here him seeming drop into pretending mode, but I trust this President by his predominant non pretending mode and his America First actions, which speak much louder and way more important than your or my annoyance. Please try harder to stay focused.
The press tutu yes will use it against him in the future.
Nothing against President Trump. Just am not listening to the high praises of the great Zelensky from anyone.
Zelensky is a Failed Commedian!
That’s the Trump version of “I’m OK, You’re OK, a psychology that is said to make your opponent like you, and not be afraid of you…
Over the years, have seen it work on some folks, but not on everyone, certainly won’t work on zelenskii, nor did it work on the Iranian mullahs… But, Trump uses it on everyone…
You can’t call someone a piece of $hit in public and then sit down and have productive discussions with them. As long as someone isn’t being a total a$$, DJT is typically very complimentary. It’s his negotiating style / strategy and it’s not for the public consumption, it’s for the consumption of those whom he is attempting to negotiate with.
Everyone knows that Erdogan is a piece of excrement, but DJT said nice things about him, because Erdogan promised that he would stay out of the Iran conflict and he kept his word. DJT wants to maintain this good relationship with Erdogan, so he says nice things about him in public. Frankly, Erdogan is only marginally better than the theocratic a$$holes running Iran.
On the other hand, when he talks about Spain and Iran the way that he did yesterday, there is no question that he has moved on and has no interest in any further discussions, or negotiations.
Exactly!!
Jayne has zero interest in the Truth.
Jayne The ☀️ Sockpuppet just wanted to be first comment in order to drag the conversation away from what President Trump is saying, while sowing doubt in his Presidency.
This is Pres Trump’s form of diplomacy, as it is played out on the world’s stage… How far do you think he would get with any foreign head of state if he insulted them and treated them with contempt, even if that is exactly what he thought… Not far. He would fail.
Case in point, recall Trump 45 and his interactions with Pres of North Korea – aka Rocket man…..
Yes, I know how much it wants to make you vomit profusely, but it is a good thing, as it demonstrates that Zelensky agreed to everything that Trump wanted, this is the carrot part. If Trump turns around next week blasting him, we will know that he did not follow through, and then the Z man will receive the stick part.
Amazing man in every way. President Trump’s will, energy and candidness is unlike any other we’ve ever known. He is in the lion’s den when encountering the press and he handles them with ease.
As a nation we are truly blessed to have him leading us.
Can’t give enough up votes to your comment.
Many do not understand the concepts of negotiating nor dealing with other cultures and therefore are exceedingly quick to declare “he lost me with that statement.” POTUS is not stupid … personality quirks, vain and narcissistic can be debated…but, certainly not stupid in his public remarks that more often than not produce the results he seeks.
I’ve long relied on regarding GEOTUS as about half as vain and twice as cunning as how he portrays himself and how he is accorded credit.
Keeps playing out.
Honest pride is an excellent attribute for strong leadership and success. Too many don’t understand this, imho.
100%
I am old and have seen presidents since Truman or Eisenhower. I have NEVER seen a president be as open to the press as this man has And they beat him about the head and shoulders every day, and the next day here he is, being open and answer any question. They should be ashamed of how they treat him. He is one in a million and we will never see another one like him.
We are so blessed to have this man at the helm of our country. Pray for him, for stamina to stand against all the evil that is tossed his way from indoctrinated citizens, mostly thanks to the MSM.
Disproportionate strikes now ok? Ihope someone remembers to tell Israel.
How did Spain change their tune? I don’t think they changed anything and was looking forward to them being cutoff from the USA in trade and travel
Spain sucked up to President Trump a little, but hasn’t changed one iota… No doubt President Trump is aware of what is actually going on with Spain…
I believe that they wrote a check, but not certain.
Thank you, Sundance!
Voted for Trump 3x, still an ardent supporter, but his early stance on Ukraine was by far my biggest problem with his second administration. Gen Kellogg and Rubio understood early on that Putin had simply waited out Trump’s first term to attack Ukraine after taking Crimea under Obama. Once Putin saw the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, he knew that he had carte blanche against a completely incompetent admin to attack. Kellogg and Rubio also wanted Trump to fully support Ukraine and hit Putin hard, in order to make him come crawling to the negotiating table. I’ve been here for years and I’m not naive enough not to realize what Nuland and the CIA did in Ukraine to provoke Putin, but NATO growth was inevitable as long as Putin was in charge of Russia. He is still clinging to the USSR and wanted to rebuild the empire. I get it that there are no “saints” on either side of this conflict, but Putin is a power hungry, terrorist dictator. McCain, who I did not like, was right. They are a country made up of a few thousand ultra-wealthy, corrupt Oligarchs and millions of poor, ignorant peasants. The Russian people will be better off once Putin is gone. His meat-wave tactics and indiscriminate bombing/droning of civilian targets within Ukraine are abhorrent. I’m glad to see Trump finally coming around to the fact that we need to do everything we can to keep Putin from progressing further into Ukraine, get this war stopped before Russia collapses completely and allow Ukraine to rebuild under a newly elected leader (once they can legally have another election). Everything is setup for Trump to become the greatest Peacemaker in the history of the world if he can negotiate an end to this conflict and finish off the IRGC command holding the Iranian people hostage.
😂 😂 😂
I just can’t anymore with the Ukraine flag emojis, even when they’re invisible.
RE: “NATO growth was inevitable as long as Putin was in charge of Russia”. I strongly disagree. Europeans pushed NATO expansion after the Soviet Union fell in 1991, long before Putin arrived on the scene. The Europeans are following Mackinder’s theory of geopolitics.
Mackinder was the leading geopolitical theorist at the height of the British empire. Said that Europe, Asia, and Africa are the world island. Majority of population and resource reside there. Russia is the heartland, key corridor to the world island continents through the Russian steppes. Eastern Europe is the pivot point. Mackinder’s formula was:
– Control the pivot point (Eastern Europe) to control the heartland (Russia)
– Control the heartland to control the world island (Europe, Asia, Africa)
– Control the world island to control the world
It is clear by the NATO expansion pushed by the Europeans in the 1990s as well as the rise of the EU that the Europeans are following Mackinder’s ideas to create a world empire. Russians like Putin may be ruthless, but the European leaders are just as bad and much more powerful than Russia due to being subsidized by the USA all the years.
I beg to differ.
Putin did not wait out Trump to attack, Putin was driven to attack by the same people who are attacking us, the people who needed this conflict to maintain their power. This is not a defense of Putin, just pointing out the reality that the bankers who have completely controlled us for over a century were the drivers of this conflict.
It’s ironic that you mention McCain, one of the deepest of deep staters, and his correct identification of the oligarchic few controlling the millions of poor, yet fail to recognize that those few wealthy oligarchs were put into place by those very same bankers that have dominated the world since 1913, as a response to their failure to assassinate Reagan, and his ensuing success in bringing down their puppets of the USSR.
The rise of Putin is directly attributable to the Russian people’s response AGAINST those oligarchs and the latest attempt by those bankers that control them. In short, His rise to power mirrors Trump’s here, a patriot rising in defense of his country against the banker oligarchy that wishes to enslave the world. Putin may be a thug, but if so, he is a thug that loves Mother Russia just as deeply as President Trump loves America.
YOU SOUND AS NEOCON KELLOGG…..YOU CD..DO NOT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RUSSIA/PUTIN…….
Some of our esteemed posters need to open their ears before they descend into the melt down mode. In the opening remarks about Zelensky, POTUS Trump stated that Zelensky was great TODAY. Taking that in reference to Zelensky’s previous behavior of being a persistent whining demanding disrespectful little twit perhaps POTUS Trump decided to throw him a bone for being respectful for once. Note, POTUS Trump has not changed his stance that Zelensky, the partnership of the willing and the EU are the primary obstacles to peace in the Ukraine conflict.
Agree! Just wish he would stop selling our military equipment to the Euroweenies to give to Zelensky! It’s just prolonging the war. JMO
We sell military equipment to Europe anyway. Considering Europe doesn’t even have the equipment to defend themselves this is a non starter. At least we are not giving it away directly or indirectly. Also having equipment is great but the EU/NATO and Ukraine are running a deficit of personnel to operate it.
Very well stated. Totally agree.
President Trump reminds me of a dog trainer. You get frowns when you misbehave and show disrespect. You get a smile and a piece of delicious freeze-dried liver when you obey promptly and cheerfully.
He usually has high praise for Xi as well. Doesn’t mean they are on the same page. Diplomatic speak.
First, most of us here at CTH remember the earlier discussion between President Trump and z where z was making numerous demands. PDJT told z right away, “I have all the cards and you have no cards”.
I’m reasonably certain that situation has not changed at all.
Furthermore, we also remember the big news that Sundance posted recently of ONID Tulsi Gabbard announcing that her department had discovered numerous bio-labs in Ukraine manufacturing bio-weapons.
We will have to wait to see how that plays out. However, we might reasonably expect results from that investigation, perhaps, providing President Trump with even more cards.
And let us all not forget that while campaigning nonstop across the country to become the 47th POTUS, our President often spoke these words:
“We got them all, we caught them all”.
Pertaining, of course, to the election that was stolen from us, the coup of 2020 that illegally put the vegetable Bydone in office that infested our country with criminal and insane illegal aliens.
There is even more than meets the eye going on here, and I believe PDJT and his crew have a handle on seeing that justice will be served, despite the crooked lawyers and judges NGO’S, etc…
We are in a war of our own right here and now at home, and the stakes are very high.
