We have a police captain, a corporate interior designer & a director level healthcare executive. Our three are all married to their original partners. I got a .410 shotgun at age 10, a deer rifle at 16 and still own both to this day. From the very first day I was encouraged to use guns as a tool to fill the family larder as I do to this day. Times were good and my father and mother taught me the skills and the tools to survive.
My children are now moving into middle age and we’re tight as we were back in their toddler days, they hunt and fish with me and together we make sure each other needs in this life to survive and thrive. My children were always held to account for their behavior, and are now both with their wives thriving on incomes foreign to my wife of 46 years and myself. We couldn’t be happier that our children exceeded our own measure of means and now in the twilight of our lives knowing that they’ll do fine as we move on. Our boys and their wives and our grandchildren and the legacy we will be leaving to them with a home and a farm in 2 different states all the while knowing that they’re building their legacies with their homes paid off and our grandchildren raised the same way.

I got my gun safety training in Boy Scouts. I walked to the Catholic church 3/4 mile away with an uncased 22 rifle. This was in Minneapolis early 1970’s.

John Dewey—considered to be the father of American Education–further advanced this integration with his first books in the late 19th century, promoting German metaphysical idealism and Hegelianism. Again, while hiding behind the language of the noble goals of critical thinking, learning by doing, and preparing students for responsible citizenship, he actually focused on blunting the impact of Christianity and promoting collectivism that led to utilitarian conformity, especially after his 1928 visit to the Soviet Union, funded by the Carnegie Foundation. Today’s education system is still underpinned by his theories, and it’s philosophical tenets still funded and directed to a large extent by major foundations.
The further destruction of our education system in the 60’s began in 1958 when Ike signed the National Defense Education Act (NDEA) into law, establishing the National Defense Student Loan (NDSL) program. It contained a provision for debt cancellation for students who pursued a teaching career; designed to attract the naive and idealistic it led to today’s modern industrial indoctrination system that gets progressively worse each generation.
In the 60’s Rudi Dutschke introduced the ‘long march through the institutions’ expounding the infiltration and subversion of societal structures based heavily on Gramsci’s work.

She said that education went to hell when 1) the fed govt started giving $$ direct from the feds to local schools, & 2) when the schools became fully unionized (took a while in TX, we don’t like Commie stuff there).
I got a good education, as I went to the 35th academically-ranked school nationally. Everything was academics. EVERYTHING. We got graded on “Citizenship”, & it was serious. I was blessed, Class of ’65.
Whole heartedly agree. My mother taught school for 40 years and lived the example presented by this lady in the video. Her classroom had only one rule, the Golden rule. She lived it unabashedly. My mother finally retired after she was reprimanded for hugging and comforting a youngster whose grandparent had recently passed.
Years later, when she passed, there were literally, hundreds of former students that showed up to her funereal. In our church, we have a tradition of allowing anyone who wishes to speak, to stand and speak. I still watch that 2 1/2 hour video periodically.
I am encouraged that I continue to meet younger generations of “kids” who are getting it. They see the corruption in the government, the unfairness of how people are treated because they are the “wrong demographic”. My encouragement comes from the fact that so many do not see themselves as victims. Yeah they got screwed over by the “lockdowns” etc of Covid, but they are putting that behind them and moving forward as victors.
I understand many here who wish society was like how they remember it (which is part of being the victim), but our energy and resources would be so much better put to use by being positive, finding those examples of “good” and encouraging their growth. As Mrs. Birbalsingh states, “it is our issue to work towards fixing”. Do you wish to be the victim? or the Victor?

Your mother was from the old school of educating the student, and truly preparing them for the responsibilities of citizenship in a free society. I was over a decade behind you, so I witnessed the slow transformation as the first hippie influenced teachers started arriving around 1970, they had big hearts and were not the radicals of today, but naive and easily manipulated by government propaganda; they were still in the minority by the time I left in the late 70’s, but a growing influence, one that in conjunction with other methods listed above affected me negatively, in some ways.
One of the main factors that saved me from total indoctrination was those traditional teachers, which is why I feel for the students of today who face a gauntlet of blue-haired crazies, and completely agree with the cold hard truth delivered in this video.
I am in the schools now. It is even worse than can be imagined. Academically as you all state, but even worse, discipline. It was terrible before, then a quantum level downward after Covid.
Many teachers leaving the entire profession early. We have a dozen foreign teachers – apparently our nation doesn’t produce enough science, math, or “special ed” teachers… even foreigners teaching “English” (it’s “Language Arts” now, which is also separate from Reading, a completely separate and remedial subject). This is middle school.
I don’t see a way out, with all the horrible trends.

My own experience listening to parents in my area, a conservative area, is not as sunny.
It is not sunny at all. Turning children into the other sex due to “friends” pressuring them. (I say teachers.). I say, honey, if you are a failure (and illiterate) as a woman, you are sure not going to make it as a man.
Homeschool your children and grandchildren if at all possible. The sacrifice now will pay dividends later, and your children will thank you for it.
K-12 schools now filled 60-80% with non-English speaking illegals. An no longer teaching civics or saluting the flag …so the illegals don’t feel left out. That is what voting only teachers union supported candidates did to us. From the ground level on up.

Ms. Birbalsingh’s point was that, if we as a culture get back to the first principles of small-c conservatism, and if we teach those bedrock principles to our children, then the slick stuff you “generated” for your comment will take care of themselves.
I would add that those bedrock principles must be rooted in Biblical Truth-God’s Word-in order to bear fruit. And that we must pray continually for God to bring about that fruition.

If you did poorly in school, you just might fail a grade! Boy Scouts were for boys and Girl Scouts were for the girls. If you didn’t follow the male/female gender routine you lived as a closet gay. Keys were left in the ignition often and other’s property was respected. Church was regularly attended. I see a big difference between then and now. In summertime, when the street lights came on, I was headed for home. Most family settings had a mom and dad, they enforced the rules. Times change but the basics should still be there. The boomers were brought up correct. JMO

I graduated from college in 1974. That is an accurate description. 2. The 1980-1983 Recession with the 20% prime interest rate and the completion of the Rust Belt in 1982 with shuttered factories throughout the upper midwest and the northeast. One of the examples of popular culture in the early 80s was Billy Joel’s song “Allentown” about factory shut downs. Which generations lost the most of those factory jobs? It wasn’t Millennials since the oldest Millennials were TWO YEARS OLD, and Gen Z was not even conceived as yet. Boomers and Silent Generation people lost the factory jobs. I graduated from high school with some of them.
Boomers lived through all the economic downturns Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z have lived through including the Dot Com Recession and the Panic of 2008 followed by the crash of real estate equity that decimated some Boomer families along with all the other effected generations. Gen X recovered their home equity before the Boomers did, by the way, and that generation has 80% home ownership among their cohort.
Since the last election, Gen X, the Millennials, and Gen Z control 55% of the votes in the US House of Representatives. Have they done anything for you? Not the way you people describe your lives to date. What? Don’t they care about their fellow (Insert Generational Nickname)?
I would focus on the public school systems. They really started to change in the 80’s and 90’s.
The change in the public schools began at the same time as mass immigration happened. Mid 1985-86 started the whole thing.
I remembered the Vietnamese immigration period. One difference though is that the majority of them went to work or started businesses. That’s the American dream, not the enter the country and go directly on benefits as we see now.
Even more memorial were those Vietnamese immigrants that gave us veterans more respect than our own countrymen.
Surely the change in public schools has something to do with the growth in teachers unions, a D3mocrat party interest group.
That was the key change that really accelerated the downfall of US K-12. The growing political power of the teachers unions, after open borders flooded the teachers unions with per student cash.
Open borders came after teacher became union members. The unions saw high birthrate illegals were job security and a permanent cash flow. A
nd filled their failing classrooms with parents who did not complain thier kids never learned to reader write. Free baby sitting a two meals a day year round, what was not o like about free K-12 for all illegals.

But the fault is with the parents for failing to recognize that. Yes, the school system is terrible. But it wasn’t near as bad when they went through it, so they largely trusted that the schools were good. I understand why it happened, but that doesn’t absolve them from the generational failing. But not even most private schools (even Christian ones) are any good, or have been for years. It is extremely bleak out there, some good things are happening though (CLT competing with SAT and ACT, for instance).
We have to fix public schools, definitely. It is the number 2 issue behind immigration.

Back in my days Catholic schools were strict because the majority of the teachers were nuns. Now there are hardly any nuns to teach. All the teachers are lay people.
You also had punishments in class. No standing in a corner then. You got whacked with a wooden ruler or as you got older a hack paddle.
Catholic schools have some teachers who are atheists.
No physical punishment in my Catholic schools. We had impossible arithmetic problems.
We need to defund public schools and give parents vouchers for competitive charter schools. Can’t be worse than what we have now, but this finally gets rid of the teachers unions.
TN started a voucher program. 10,000 or 20,000 kids could get vouchers the first go round. Our RINO governor could not determine how many of those kids were already going to private schools?????? Then it finally comes out 80% were already going to private schools. The kicker…the public schools they came from still got the money as if the kid was still there…no penalty.
So TN has a system that could potentially double the spending on education. It is what you get with RINOs.

I have been able to watch many of them;.and I can tell you I was so moved by the way he is trying to give younger Black lads who seem to have no father figure in their lives lessons which will serve them well as they grow and make their way into this unsettled world of ours.
The boys who are fortunate enough to attend his lessons (at no cost to them) are being given a head start. The day will come when they appreciate the gift they’ve been given.

Before the 1960s, black fathers were very much present and often good disciplinarians. In the 1960s, black mothers were told the government would take over the duty of daddy to their kids. The daddys were told they had to leave the apartment and not come back. They just became wanderers. The strong ones are basically, independently breaking the mold.

I partially agree, certainly with the latest generation working, but the younger ones behind them are beginning to break from the nonsense, because they see the damage the attitudes have caused themselves and all around them.
This is one of the reasons why Western governments are falling over themselves to ban social media for under 16’s, but the same people were hoping to roll out ‘Make it 16’ campaigns to lower the voting age. Now, with increasing panic they realise that this group are more conservative, not voting fodder sheep, and, shock horror, do not get their media from the MSM but alternative sources, hence the proposed bans.
As I said before, the 25-40 year olds are the real problem, especially the women and here, in the UK, black people, where a significant number have grown used to reflexively blaming every problem on racism and the Evil White Man, even when they live in communities they’ve had stewardship over for decades.
The children though are increasingly into 80’s-90’s music, (the Michael Jackson biopic is a huge hit with this group), buy special emulators so they can play simulated Gameboy and Sega consoles and watch classic movies (boys especially are focusing on any film that has traditional male role-models). Every time I have any contact with these people they seem more ‘based’ than before.
This is from an anecdotal perspective from quite a conservative area, but I’ve heard it being talked about in more liberal families and areas. Often the parents are worried that all their strenuous efforts to brainwash, de-gender and white-guilt their boys are being undone by ‘toxic masculinity’, and incel influencers on ‘the web’. Hence the ban, as this parental demographic (affluent white, upper middle-class, often divorced) make up a powerful lobby in the Labour Party and a considerable demographic in Parliament.

To me she seems to be actively avoiding naming it because she understands the blowback and ramifications if she does. Going back to the boomer discussion, younger people think we had it made. That was definitely not the case. We adapted to the life we lived at the moment.
The Vietnam War was in everyone’s mind and as you got older you wondered how you would get through it. But even before that, consider that our parents came from the Depression and WW2 era. Nothing was thrown away because it was worn, torn or dirty. Clothing was patched. Really old jeans became cutoffs. Shoes were resoled and got new heels.
We ate what was on the table that evening. No separate meals for each person. If you didn’t like goulash then that was tough.
In spite of all that we learned to fix things. A flat tire or a slipped chain on a bicycle. We could take a stick and grab one of mom’s wooden clothespins off the line and with a rubber band you had a neat toy. This is the stuff the younger generations are missing out on. Watching dad working on the car and learning some cuss words in the process.
We adapted. If there is any fault my thinking is that we wanted our kids to have a better life than we had. The pendulum swung too far.
Kids need to be told NO. You can’t have that. Maybe some other day.

I have an 18 year old son, a 19 year old daughter, and have been coaching high school boys rugby for 15+ years. Kids witness life from a different lens. They watch us, and they see the insanity of the last 10 years. More and more of them are willing to speak up against the insanity. Especially, men of all colors and races. They see and feel the aggressive attacks over the last decade on males. Initially, it pulled many men over into the camp of pretending to be more feminine to get what most young men want. But now, its counter culture, rebellious, and attractive to see young men with a back bone. The pendulum is swinging. What’s happened is horrible, but what’s happening now gives me optimism.

I have a story about a beloved teacher at the local high school. This guy really saved both my two sons high school years, and I owe him a debt of gratitude. That being said, this teacher is a leftist.
He quit. 2 years shy of retirement. He and his wife are leaving the area. I wondered why.
Turns out he can’t stand trying to deal with the students. In his own words, ever since covid there is no dealing with them. Constantly on electronics and impossible to deal with. I was floored. He is/was great with the kids.
Also ironic because as a leftist he was definitely part of the indoctrination that I believe goes on.
I’m not sure the school staff realize the extent of what they’ve been a part of. This guy, whether he realizes it or not, has reaped what he helped sow and he can’t deal with the result.

I’m an early boomer. First through 12th grade, I had as many male teachers as female.

The solution: 1. Teach Reading and Math Schools must improve 5% a year in both reading and math or lose 5% of their federal education dollars until they reach the historic level of 70% of kids reading and math at grade level. 2. Teach the history Birbalsingh talks about and test yearly for their history level. Again if they do not improve 5% a year in History, the school will lose 5% of federal funding.
This structure will return our schools to their roots.
Our children and even the adults today are not taught from the Bible – We should be teaching our children as it is written in Deuteronomy 6. The communists infiltrated our educational system way back in the late 1800’s knowing that the only way they could destroy the West was by changing western culture through changing young minds to believe communist lies. God must be looking down on the U.S. especially in anger. Our national sins on abortion, transgenders, homosexuality and the U.S. as the greatest producers of porn, in books, pictures, movies, and publications. This lady is right on! Who is to blame? Us! We have all seen it happening and have done nothing to put a stop to all this evil.

What she has actually done by her calling out of “Boomers, Gen Xers, and Older Millennials” is instructive for those in the generations after the Boomers concerning which “generation” is responsible for the mess called “Wokeism.” Her list is actually incomplete. She partially describes how some fossilized tenured professors, some of whom work well into what are considered “retirement years” indoctrinate more than one generation’s students into their ideology. To keep their “March Through the Institutions” alive, such people have to RECRUIT from younger generations. By saying the nicknames of those three generations, she inadvertently described this relay system. Let’s see how it worked on the Boomers. One generation or more had to indoctrinate the Boomers first in her chain. That was done by, mostly, the Lost Generation and the Silent Generation:
