Spock was born in 1903. He influenced Boomer parents. He wasn’t one himself.
Mostly he influenced a movement away from putting infants on a strict feeding schedule and away from corporal punishment. Both of those were positive movements. However, some parents not only did not use corporal punishment, they did not correct their children in any manner at all. That is the disaster we see before us in adults who were never disciplined in any way as children, worsened by the reward for participation instead of rewarding excellence.
Feeding an infant on demand and responding warmly to children did not create the problem. Those practices tend to create secure attachment between parent and child. Also, reducing the amount and type of corporal punishment used in raising children did not cause the problem either. Foregoing all types of discipline DID cause the problem. Rewarding based on participation in all the school grades instead of merit created the problems. Not giving children responsibility for performing chores and participating in familial activities – the hard stuff and the fun stuff created children unprepared to do the difficult things inherent in most jobs.
Remnants in each generation have not been “infected” by these ideologies. The young men are revolting against what the feminists have wrought. A significant portion of the current school children are being home schooled, thank God for brave, industrious women, who are willing to go against the grain.

We took him out of public school in the middle of first grade. I got upset over what the school did about teaching Columbus Day and Thanksgiving. We were gone before Christmas.
After that we sent him only to religious schools. Catholic from first grade through high school and Church of Christ for college. Lutheran for graduate school. We supplemented in elementary school with a classical education home schooling curriculum .
Today, I would home school until college. If it’s not available in your state, move. I no longer trust the religious schools on this Marxism DEI business.

My son is conservative. He was in a Lutheran grade school, then, his dad put him in public school in 4th grade.

For example, societies that embrace postmodernism reflect a far greater heterodoxy that author Veith (1994) in Postmodern Times referred to as a “new tribalism” that “fragments society into contending and mutually unintelligible cultures and subcultures” where “even within a single society, people are segmented into self-contained communities and contending interest groups” (pp. 143-156).
But the threat is more real than simply a society of fragmented groups fighting with each other for political power. What happens when the very “truths” our society is founded on and depends on for its existence are discarded as no longer self-evident? (Veith, 1994, p. 158). I have yet to hear an answer to that question which can pass through my rigorous examination… as trite as I may appear at times when posting here.
The ignoramuses in charge have not yet figured out that the promise of egalitarianism is impossible within the fragmentation that postmodernism results in. They’re too ignorant to figure out that 1-1=0.
Duty, responsibility and moral character practically define Western Civilization.
