A regular caller to the Bill Cunningham show on WLW, 700 AM, in Cincinnati (huge signal in heartland of America) offered to rent a truck, go to the Hamilton County (Cincinnati) dog pound, and deliver Meals on Wheels to our Caribbean brothers and sisters. Last year I was in rehab for two weeks. I live in Florida and there were many Haitian nurses there at the rehab. They did not work. They were mainly on their phone instead of working. It was horrible and I will never go back. I called it the Gulag.
Just this past week there were articles about a Haitian person who started a so-called nursing school in Palm Beach, which is about 65 miles from me. I figured that’s where these Haitians got their degrees because they did not know what they were doing. Apparently this Haitian person in Palm Beach was selling diplomas to nurses and if I remember correctly, she sold about 30,000 of them to the Haitian community. I would never go to another nursing home unless I was on my deathbed and I was sure I would come out dead.
By the way, this rehab center sent a bill to Medicare for $9000 a week.

There seems to be some kind of operation where migrants are selected for specific jobs. I’ve been to hospitals and nursing homes in the past two years to visit and I have seen the same thing you experienced.
Look at airports. There has been a wholesale swap out of general labor for Somali, Congolese and other east African workers. Same thing. Many dont work. I also saw East African people working as wheelchair attendants at the airport on a recent trip. They were getting cash tips from customers. That’s seems sketchy to me.
I wonder what other industry sectors have gotten the same treatment?

To be honest I have not seen any Somalis or others working the TSA areas. These people are cleaners, check in helpers, baggage handlers, and also work as guides among other jobs.
On my last trip I saw an East African guiding people at passport control. He was dancing and was obviously under the influence of something.. This was Seattle-Tacoma airport.

Are you sure they were nurses? Had to deal with several rehab centers while caring for an elder relative recently. The “nurses” we were interacting with were nurse aids with minimal medical education. Most could barely communicate using the English language. That makes for some interesting miscommunications, especially when dealing with an elder who was a bit hard of hearing.
The head Nurse was a tyrannical white lady. The rest of the staff was Haitian. You’re right they were not all nurses they were aides, LPN’s, etc.. The doctors were also foreign, but not from Haiti. I think they may have been Indian.
The physical therapists were not Haitian.
My sister and her husband were also in another nursing home here in Vero Beach, and I have to admit it was even worse there. The conditions are deplorable, and this is not a poor community. My brother-in-law decided he could not take it and stopped eating and died rather than live there. My sister had had a stroke and couldn’t take care of her husband anymore so they were both in the same nursing home. It took my brother-in-law two months to die. We got my sister out of there soon afterwards into a nice assisted living with a whole lot better care, but you have to pay out-of-pocket for better care.

Republican donors put them in cheap section 8 housing and then take out loans on the properties for 10 times the real value. Huge money spinner just on the housing.
Supposedly, they had govt vouchers for housing that were for a LOT more than the average rents were there at the time. Landlords evicted longtime tenants or terminated leases to get all that extra govt money, and it gave other landlords the signal to raise their rents, too. Many longtime renters in this lower income town were suddenly priced out of their own neighborhoods.
Also, I read that people in this town applied for the jobs given to the Haitians, but were turned away. Meanwhile, the jobs were for several less hours per week than full time work, but that the benefits they were given for food, housing, medical care, etc., made up for the lower pay — deals not offered to local citizens. This is what DeWine turns a blind eye to.
It pitted the locals against the landlords, employers, and the city officials, who benefited at the expense of the citizens who lived there.
Wonder why these rich politicians who evidently love all of these other countries and their precious pet eating, welfare snatching, fraud hustlers don’t just move to that country. Guess they only love them here where they can be relied upon to vote illegally for them.
