My father had some of their literature, which I read as a teenager in the 1970’s. I was interviewed to become a member back in 1995. Shortly afterwards I had a life changing accident and was not able to join.
My father had some literature from this group too. He saw Communism coming through Colleges in 1969. I wish I had taken his advice more to heart.
Around that time my Dad gave me a copy of Atlas Shrugged. The billboards were showing up around this time simply saying; “Who is John Galt”.
The 60’s and 70s were way worse than today’s troubles. Race riots, bombings, wars, demonstrations, fake TV news and newspapers, etc. The deep state took out Nixon. The FBI, CIA and DOD out of control. Political assassinations (JFK, RFK, MLK, Wallace, etc).
My grandfather as well. I remember how we heard nothing but negative and terrible things about the JBS. As a teenager I wondered about my grandfather because I watched “the news” on tv and thought maybe he was part of a “fringe” element.
When I first met Birchers it was long after they were ostracized. Though to be honest, they were preying upon people in the fringes of society. And I was the prey.
That would not have been good mainstreamed.
Also, have you paid close attention to the financial doom saying industry? You can make a lot of money predicting catastrophe and eventually you will be “right”. Or at least close enough that you can expand your victim err subscriber lists.

History existed long before Puritans felt the need to set up a divinity school.
I think there are a number of reasons. Most who choose Harvard are shallow egomaniacs for whom pedigree and prestige are far more important than humanity. The school itself chooses its students based on legacy parents and those that are seen to be most easily coopted into “the club” for their own benefit, societal benefits notwithstanding, and the faculty are almost exclusively bought into the statist, leftist, elitist ideology.
Apologies to any exceptions to the above that may read this, but statistics and demographics can’t be ignored.

When I was in high school in the early 70s a friend of mine gave me an 800 number to call and said I should give it a listen. I remember the opening words on the recorded message – Let Freedom Ring. My Grandfather who fought in WW I and WW II was a “Bircher”. He had similar warnings. My Father also fought in the latter and warned of the spread of Communism through the same entities. My Mother who earned her teaching degree at Denver University in 1949 used to tell of two of her Communist Professors who told to taking over the US through education.

You are absolutely correct, Betsy, and this, IMHO, is why there is such a push to NOT teach accurate history to young people! If they do not understand that all of their idealistic ideas of “creating a utopia” where everything is “fair” and everyone is “happy” have been tried, and miserably failed, then they are easy to manipulate into being the foot soldiers for the next attempt!
Yes, we can all look around us and see need, and unfair treatment, and flat out injustice. But, both history and Christianity teach us that this is the natural state of fallen humanity and no political system or human leader will be able to solve it, although those who recognize it are usually a better option!
We have raised generations who have been indoctrinated into believing the same lie – that if we just elect “this” group, then they will “redistribute” the money from all those people who have too much of it and give it to everyone else who doesn’t have enough! But somehow, most the money seems to end up in the hands of the group that was supposed to be in charge of the redistribution and very little of it reaches the people who elected them!

We also have had to deal with cyclical climate change (sometimes catastrophic and civilization destroying), intruders from the cosmos (meteors/comets), our uneven sun, massive geological upheavals/etc,), in addition to humans with evil intentions (power/money/control).
Every so often a blessed time appears, a time when very good fortune can respond to dedicated, hard work. Less strife, more working together for life, liberty and properity. I think that lots of people didn’t like it when the USSR experiment was dismantled by its owners. The Union was never militarily defeated, but its owners gave up. Thereafter, though, Russia didn’t fall apart. It didn’t de-militarize or de-industrialize or “go green.” It made overtures to become a closer part of Europe, but when Europe rebuffed them it went its own way.
