The next nation in our hemisphere to determine the political direction appears in Colombia, where MAGA aligned Albelardo Espriella is facing socialist aligned Ivan Cepeda, the favorite of the current socialist leadership.
Espirella has surged in support as the popular candidate amid promises to deliver El Salvador like criminal confrontations, and market capitalism rejection of socialist control similar to Argentina. Earlier this week President Trump endorsed Espirella stating on social media: “Colombian Presidential Candidate, “El Tigre (THE TIGER),” Abelardo de la Espriella, is a Smart, Strong, and Tough Leader, who fights tirelessly for, and loves, his Great Country and People, just like I do for the United States of America.”
On the leftist side of the option, Iván Cepeda has pledged to continue the current socialist administration’s economic agenda and expand negotiations with drug traffickers and armed groups who operate vast criminal enterprises. The move to align with cartels and gangs (they call the alignment ‘negotiation’) appears to come as a strategic effort to retain power.
(Los Angeles Times) – Colombian presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella has vowed to crush criminal groups and slash government programs. He promises to bomb “narco-terrorist” camps and build sprawling mega prisons if he wins Sunday’s runoff election.
De la Espriella’s views have earned him the vociferous backing of President Trump, who has broken with White House tradition by publicly seeking to tip the scales in foreign elections — particularly in Latin America.
After Trump gave his “complete and total endorsement” to De la Espriella, whom he referred to by his nickname, “El Tigre,” the candidate posted an AI-generated image of a bald eagle and a tiger, with American and Colombian flags waving side by side.
“You have paved the way for the people to defeat the entrenched powers that have long held sway,” he wrote to Trump. “In Colombia, we have now begun to follow the same path.”
De la Espriella, a political newcomer who built his campaign around gym workout videos and vows to “disembowel” the left, is part of a new wave of far-right, MAGA-aligned politicians in Latin America openly borrowing from Trump’s playbook, presenting themselves as outsiders who will trim the government, curtail immigration and militarize law enforcement.
In a region that remains plagued by high crime and inequality after a decades-long period of leftist domination known as the “Pink Tide,” the playbook appears working.
More Latin Americans now identify with the right than at any time over the last two decades, according to polling firm Latinobarómetro. A series of conservatives have won presidential elections in recent years, giving Trump a slate of willing partners as he seeks to expand U.S. power in the region, combat drug cartels and counter growing Chinese influence. Polls in Colombia close at 4:00 p. m. (Colombia time). From that moment, the National Civil Registry begins the preliminary count, whose first bulletins are usually released within the first hour, with the virtually complete result available that same night. In the first round, the preliminary count was closed around 9:42 pm. {SOURCE}
4:00 pm in Colombia is the same time on the East Coast (EDT) and 1:00 p. m. on the West Coast (PDT). The official source is the National Civil Registry, at www.registraduria.gov.co, where the preliminary count is published in real time on election day.

California is still counting votes with another 19 days to go in election season. Colombia has shown how to run an election process promptly.
Takes a while in California to sign all the votes they need for a win, not too many , but just enough.
Do they also have mail in ballots and count votes for three months?
That seems to be a communists staple.
They will know the election outcome the same day… It’s not as corrupt as the third world democrat controlled s-hole that is California.

Who knows? Here is an article from 2024:
https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/maps-and-graphics/2024/01/15/darien-gap-migration-crisis-six-graphs-and-one-map
The part called the Darien Gap is 100 miles long and 30 miles wide…It used to be the ‘end’ of the Pan American Highway, back in the 70’s. And mostly jungle…
It’s ColOmbia (not ColUmbia) (I was called out on this once too).
Colombia does not use daylight savings anymore so they are one hour behind Eastern Daylight Time now.
Smart! Daylight savings sucks!
At 5:25 pm:
Espriella 43.74%
Cepeda 40.90%
About 23 Million Votes Counted…
[Other vote percentages to minor candidates]
PLEASE DISREGARD above post…
My Spanish being weak, I now believe that may have been the results of previous runoff…
Not today’s vote…SORRY

Looks like the good guy won by 1%!
Buen trabajo!
DST : Just another leftist charade to save something which can’t be saved.
Colombia has a chance to save themselves.
Serious question: Do they have Dominion machines or other electronic voting?
Given the speed at which results were reported and the fact that the conservative / populist won, that suggests no Dominion over their voters. According to their consulate website:
“Colombians living abroad can vote in presidential elections through Colombian consulates, as long as their national ID card is registered at the corresponding polling location. You must vote at the consulate where your Colombian ID card is registered.”
They have a fairly detailed voter ID and verification process in place.
Everything has gone quiet about Dominion. Too much focus on mail in and voter ID. Do they have ID in Colombia I wonder.
if we could buy cocaine at the drug store the cartels would go out of business
And so would our country. Constitutional Republics don’t function when the voters are coked up zombies.
Constitutional Republics don’t function when the Representatives are coked up zombies
🙂
President Trump recognizes this. Our country has a terribly high opioid use problem and significant fentanyl overdose rate. Even if the fentanyl could be magically eliminated tomorrow, there would still be many deaths annually. This taxes our workforce and economy. The CCP recognizes this and probably views this as low-tech warfare against the U.S.
long time ago you could
what maybe 60 years?
Medical purposes… maybe pain, to numb things, sore tooth??
Anyone remember how Coca-Cola got it’s name?
Yes, my mom use to buy RC cola. The Doctor told her no coke for me when young
Used for difficult to control nose bleeds.
My dad told me that when he was a kid they could buy opiates at the local pharmacy over the counter and had no more addicts than we do today. They could give it away free and I would not buy it.
Go to Denver to see a large population permanently stoned. This produces negative GDP.
Voter fraud is global especially when the “Agencies” assisting in the vote skew votes
I’ll have a little Antioqueño Aguardiente with empanadas rather than popcorn this time around waiting for results!!! Make Colombia Great Again!!!
Let’s pray that the Colombians get a prosperous future. Their country has been through a lot over the years. Presidents Bukele of El Salvador and Milei of Argentina have demonstrated that it is possible to rescue a country and turn things around. Voters in Colombia see that. Chile elected a conservative president just a few months ago. Argentina and Chile are beautiful countries, have an abundance of natural resources, and have much potential. I haven’t been to Colombia though.
I was in Colombia a few months ago. Will never go back — very aggressive and numerous street vendors.
Argentina and Chile are very nice. The capital cities have their rough spots. The Lakes region in Southern Chile (Puerto Varas area) is quite lovely. Mendoza, Argentina is a world-renowned for wine and also quite enjoyable. I’ve had great experiences throughout both countries.
How about a certain waterfall on the border od Argentina and Brazil?
Iguazu falls. It’s on my bucket list.
‘a strategic effort to retain power’?
Or stay ‘alive’?
If the socialists win it will be Venezuela (under Maduro) Re-Do .. it is that bad or worse.
The political party Cepeda represents is a spin off of the Political Wing of the old FARC Guerilla Movement … that was on the US International Terrorist list until removed by the Biden Administration Auto-Pen in December 2021.
FARC had been subsumed into the Drug Cartels of Colombia as security forces for Cartel assets and as an on-call terrorist strike force controlled by same political party Cepeda represents. Think of the “socialist political” party in terms of the relationship between the Irish Sinn Fein and IRA.
Look closely. Looks like the same guy
There are probably quite a few decent eye doctors within driving distance of you.

My son just came back from a bachelor’s party in Colombia and all I got was a pound of Colombian coffee.
On a serious note, my wife and I were seriously concerned because of all the drugs and violence, but he did make it back safely. However, he wasn’t allowed to send a mail-in ballot, like they do here.
The one with the cool hat is the patriotic one and the other one with the crazy eyes is the globalist, power-hungry lunatic. See how easy that was?
There’s no overstating the importance of Colombia breaking the stranglehold.
Like many of our southern neighboring countries – Central and South America.
Too long exploited, for better and worse.
May the Right people win self-governance, freedom and prosperity for their citizens.
God first.

I hope Espirella is all he claims to be and I pray that God free the people of Columbia this election.
It’s akin the Los Angeles mayor’s race. Turning things around for the city and fixing problems is an enormous challenge with no guarantee of success (if Pratt could win). On the other hand, re-electing the Communist will guarantee further destruction. Colombia now has a chance.
Anyone looking at the LA city council knows that Pratt would make zero headway without taking unilateral action.
Not at all different from PDJT & CONgress.
THE RIGHT THING: Trump Ally Abelardo De La Espriella Wins Colombia’s Presidential Election Run-off – Leftist President Petro Disputes Results
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/06/right-thing-trump-ally-abelardo-de-la-espriella/
It’s a divided nation. I wonder what the voter turnout was?
63.60%
https://www.resultados.registraduria.gov.co/v2/resumen/0/00/
Not as high as California in the 2018 mid-terms. Many precincts in Orange County reported then > 100% turnout. I reviewed hundreds of pages of data posted online by county registrars after that “result.” I suppose that is achievable with same-day registration and mail-in ballots harvested from random addresses without any proof of life.
The New York Times announced that Abelardo De La Espriella, (the correct spelling is Espriella not Espirella), “appears” to win what the Times calls “a razor-thin victory” in Columbia’s presidential election!
“A razor-thin victory” against the Left means that Espriella gave Cepeda a real thumping!
But who knows, they may bring in the ballot-counting teams from LA to give Cepeda a last minute “razor-thin” victory!
NYT spin.
According to the Colombian National office of Election results: 99.99% votes counted. 49.66% (12,959,515 votes) for Espirella and 48.77% (12,708,695) for Cepeda.
Is that razor-thin?
Uh, got ahead of myself –
I see the “appears” caveat.
Darn- well, surprisingly, or perhaps begrudgingly, they print it as so.
My exuberance got in front of my better sense.
HE WON !!!!
So, I hope . . . got a little carried away.
New York Times doesn’t know difference between Colombian and Ecuadorian flags. Which, as a FBLie/DOiJ media outlet makes sense.
If the story was on CNN, the State Dept outlet, they’d have gotten it right! Dumb FBLie/DOiJ should stick to domestic.

What do you suppose the hiring criteria are at NYT? First letter D.
End Wokeness
@EndWokeness
Colombians are now flooding the streets to celebrate the fall of socialism….
I see that they are waving the Colombian flag and not the flag of Ecuador. This suggests that they do not read the NYT.🤣

“leftist President Gustavo Petro is disputing the results, and there are fears that he will plunge the country into an institutional crisis by rejecting defeat.”….

Celebrations…
Secretary Bessent And Secretary Rubio….
The media announce his success as the Millionaire friend of President Trump wins election.
Reuters reporting in the Jerusalem Post: Outgoing Petro is blaming Israel for manipulating the election results.
“Well, today we have evidence of a change in the IP addresses of several servers belonging to the National Registry. This means that the software was compromised, and others entered data for polling stations and voting centers,” he said. “The only entity in the world capable of doing that is the State of Israel.”

Soooooo you are telling me the “backwards” country of Colombia can count their votes in one night and the the ultra progressive California can’t?
