Speaking to Politico reporters on Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader John Thune says, “ask the White House,” when questioned about the status of Jay Clayton’s DNI nomination.
Apparently, Thune is in the dark as to what comes next.

The senate majority leader has used the pro-forma sessions to keep the senate technically in session, thereby preventing the president from utilizing recess appointments. If would be good journalism practice to ask the senate majority leader if this was his idea or if someone else asked him to keep a series of pro-forma sessions in order to slow down the nomination and appointment process.
He can’t slow them down further. They are for all intents and purposes, at a standstill.
What was shown by Senate’s rush to confirm Clayton is the Senate is obstructing the President’s nominees.

This whole scenario has a slightly familiar ring to it (President Trump, in his first term, having to use the ODNI position as leverage to get things done). He nominated Ratcliffe as ODNI director but the IC community was terrified of him (probably because they had no dirt on him therefore couldn’t control him) and scared that he might shine a light on too many of their dark deeds. So the thoroughly slimy and corrupt SSCI refused to act on his nomination. Enter Ric Grenell whom President Trump placed into the Acting Director position. He began swinging a heavy hammer causing utter mayhem in the IC. He began declassifying stuff and shining a light on their misdeeds until the IC cried “UNCLE”. They couldn’t get Ratcliffe confirmed fast enough.

If Thune had already passed the Save America Act, he would not be forced to deal with the (potential) loss of FISA 702, which the Deep State must have to technically and “legally” spy on American citizens in spite of 4th Amendment protections.
Now the fulcrum of Deep State corruption, access to the NSA database for political targeting, hinges on passing the Save America Act, which will wipe out Democrat (Uni Party) election majorities for a generation.
This is where Trump must hold the line. Not for ICE funding or anything else. FISA 702 is what they used to make him a target and create Russia/Mueller, which they used to cover their own crimes. Russiagate was the cover for Spygate.
