As the story is told, a drone originating from inside Ukraine flew into a Romanian residential complex slightly wounding two people. When the Romanian government were first asked why they didn’t shoot down or neutralize the drone, Romanian officials said they thought it was a Ukrainian drone on route to Russia – so they did not shoot it down.
Later Romania’s president stated that a drone targeting Ukraine was redirected by a Ukrainian air defense system, which is why it ended up on Romanian airspace. Officially, everyone in Romania now says, it was a Russian drone targeting Ukraine, hit by Ukrainian air defenses over Reni, which redirected its path into Romania. However, before clarity from both Ukraine and Romania, Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin was asked about it.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good evening.
You had to wait. President Lukashenko and I had a lengthy discussion as we had many issues to discuss.
I am listening. Please, begin.
Anton Morozov: Mr President, here is my question. We understand that you have had a busy visit dedicated to the extensive EAEU agenda. However, news is breaking every minute, and you are probably aware of the story about a drone that flew into Romania.

The Russians are coming, the Russians are attacking.” Then, after a short period of time, it turned out that those incidents had nothing to do with Russian UAVs. They were drones of Ukrainian origin that had gone off course, been affected by electronic warfare, or, due to technical limitations, had ended up there and crashed. I believe that most likely we are dealing with the same situation as well.
However, if they provide us with objective data – as we once did with representatives of the US administration by handing over information and drone fragments from an attempted strike on one of the residences of the President of the Russian Federation to be examined – then let them provide those materials to us. We will conduct an objective investigation, and only then will we be in a position to assess what has actually happened.”

I guess no one could believe that Ukraine would send off a drone to the east to hit Russia but instead it went southwest into Romania. It would be interesting to know exactly where in Romania it ended up.

This strikes me as quite a deep level of cooperation and trust between Russia and the United States. Given the CIA’s role(s) in the current Ukrainian gov’t, I can’t help but wonder if Putin might be helping Trump identify US programs and even agents who are serving interests outside of the US Administrative Branch.
Putin would also be keeping us up to date on the original manufacturers of European drone technology. This seems like the kind of data that allies share about a common enemy–if that’s not taking a too Promethean angle.
Ukraine did this before, as well, if you recall, with a missile or drone that landed in Poland. When I hear this story yesterday, I immediately thought that this was another Ukrainian attempt to get NATO involved in this situation. The world has turned its attention to the Middle East, which does not serve Zelensky’s purpose. I would guarantee that this is another attempt from the Ukrainians to attempt to get, at least the EU, militarily involved.

A couple of interesting additional notes:
Do a quick look at a map … the target area in Reni, Ukraine is about 50 MILES from the Romanian Border. that’s a long way to fly for a DRONE munition either physically hit or engaged by “deflecting” EM weapon.
The Russians were conducting an ATTACK on a target in Reni, which means a DRONE with explosive munitions. Yet the report from Romania stated the “the DRONE landed and caught fire” (i.e. NO EXPLOSION).
The same report from Romania says their Air Defenses only tracked the DRONE after it crossed the Romanian Frontier …. kind of odd given the alleged concern for Russian DRONES operating so close to the Romanian Border.
FYI … The websites for the major Ukrainian Drone manufacturers indicate they are ALL spin offs of EX-Russian Aeronautical Design Bureau Operations that were located in the Ukraine that also employ ex-Russian Design staff …. and even state their designs are spin offs and updates of Russian Designs.
Did I miss something? Did the media ask Putin about the millions of soldiers and thousands of civilians killed in this war, which has lasted longer than WW2, and the impact it has had on Russian families and the economy?
