Today, Texas voters are choosing party nominees in runoff elections for several key statewide, congressional and local races for contests where no candidate won a majority in the March primary.
This runoff puts incumbent Senator John Cornyn against challenger AG Ken Paxton for the Texas Senate Republican race. President Trump has endorsed the challenger against Cornyn, and the old guard in the Senate are furious.
UPDATE: The results are not yet finalized, but it’s not even remotely close. Senator John Cornyn has lost his seat. Texas AG Ken Paxton has crushed Cornyn in a massive victory.

Yes, if they didn’t vote in the initial primary they can cast their vote for either party in the runoff election or in the general if they have not established an affiliation.
Here’s from our Sec of State website:
“If a voter has not voted in a party primary or taken an oath of affiliation with a party this calendar year, they have not yet affiliated with any party. If a voter has not yet affiliated with a party, they are able to vote in either party’s primary election. However, if a voter votes in the primary of one party, they will only be able to vote in that party’s primary runoff election. (§§162.012, 162.013) After being affiliated with a party, a voter is not able to change or cancel their party affiliation until the end of the calendar year. (§162.010)“

We voted about 6:45 pm. After I made my selection for PAXTON, I punched the air with my fist, and then I made a deep X in the air over Cornyn’s name!

No way. It was touch voting, and my hand was about a foot over the screen.
PLUS, I chose the option to see how my votes were read. Then, they were printed out, and I read them AGAIN before I fed the ballot into the final collector!

I think Trump’s endorsement helped, but it was such a blowout, Paxton would have won anyway, even if Trump had stayed out of the race.
I figure Trump endorsement increased the margin of victory by 6-7 points.
