According to Politico, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was spotted in Mar-a-Lago last Friday talking face-to-face with President Trump.
With the base and President Trump still leveraging everything possible for the SAVE America Act, President Trump seems unlikely to endorse John Cornyn or Ken Paxton until the dust on that issue settles.
The only way Senator John Cornyn can survive the primary challenge from Paxton is if President Trump endorses the incumbent. If President Trump stays out of the race, Ken Paxton looks likely to achieve victory. Surprisingly, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSCC) has not spent more money on Cornyn, another good sign.

It’s the latest sign of a fierce and feverish effort to keep Trump from endorsing Cornyn.
Even when all signs pointed to a Cornyn endorsement following the longtime senator’s showing in the primary, MAGA faithful kept pressing for Paxton. Now they’re optimistic their guy can come out on top — and they’re still taking shots at Cornyn every chance they get.

U.S. senators (mostly) write foreign aid policy, rules and regulations thereby creating the financing mechanisms to transmit U.S. funds. They are guided by K-Street lawyers who represent various interests.
Those same senators then receive a portion of the laundered funds back through their various “institutes” and business connections to the foreign government offices. Everyone in DC knows the gig.

The U.S. State Dept. served as a distribution network for the authorization of the money laundering by granting DC conflict waivers, approvals for financing (McCain Institute, Clinton Global Initiative etc), and permission slips for the payment of foreign money.
The officials within the State Dept. take a cut of the overall payments through a system of “indulgence fees”, commissions, junkets, gifts and expense account payments to those with political oversight.
If anyone gets too close to revealing the process they become a target of the apparatus.

This is why Senators spend $20 million on a campaign to earn a job paying $350k/year.
The “institutes” is where the real foreign money comes in; billions paid by governments like China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Ukraine, etc. etc. There are trillions at stake.
The current nation of focus is the Ukraine laundry operation. The U.S. intelligence services, including CIA operations in USAID, have historically been the bagmen. That’s also why they consider Gabbard a threat.

Cornyn’s desperation doesn’t seem to be moving the needle toward getting the SAVE America Act passed. Thune and all the other RINOs obviously see Cornyn as expendable. Each state has the option to pass their own version of a SAVE Act. Half of the states already require a photo ID to vote.
Considering how well the photo ID requirement polls, candidates for state legislatures should run on the issue. That should include Libertarian candidates.
They give driver licenses to illegals. And Motor Voter. Honor system. I’m sure the illegal would be happy to show up at the polls with his photo ID driver license.
Where’s the check for citizenship? Oh, yeah, some states make that illegal to even ask.
Texas uses Real ID now. I had to present my birth certificate and have 10-finger fingerprints to renew my drivers license in 2020.

My first exposure to the enormous damage done by the 17th Amendment (direct election of Senators) was when I read Zell Miller’s 2003 book “A National Party No More”. Everything he outlined in that book, regarding how the passage of both the 16th and 17th Amendments forever changed our government for the worse, has now become abundantly clear!
The Senate is corrupt beyond redemption, IMHO, and only the repeal of the 17th Amendment, and the return of the power to the individual states, as the Constitution prescribed, can stop the graft.

The 17th Amendment destroyed the “Republic”, and created a “pure democracy” with “tyranny by the majority”; and the vicious cycle which perpetuates even increasing “voter fraud” throughout these United States.
The “red state” governors should immediately audit their state’s ratification process, to see if it was valid. There have long been arguments which claim that the 17th Amendment was neither properly ratified by a majority of the states nor was certification in DC valid.
I expect that if any one (or more) of the ratifying states could prove their ratification processes were defective or corrupt the Amendment could by a simple majority of the governors be declared null and void – “Unconstitutional”. … And, why would not the Governors and state legislatures want to reclaim control over Washington DC, and their citizens’ tax dollars (?).
The 17th was ratified by 36 of the then 48 states; and there were no valid arguments offered, nor were the People asked if they supported adoption of a new federal constitution (remember it was the People of each state which ratified the Constitution in 1788, not each states’ legislature).
Of paramount importance, the 17th Amendment did not “amend” the Constitution; the 17th usurped and replaced the “Republican Form of Government” guaranteed to the states in Article. IV., Section. 4. Another grossly, deliberately misunderstood (by Article. III. courts, politicians and many “legal scholars”) section of the Constitution which in fact demonstrates the “genius” of the Framers as it can mean:
i) each state’s form of government is guaranteed by the federal government;
ii) a “treaty” among “sovereigns” guaranteeing each member to the treaty will ensure no usurpation from within or outside (“domestic” or “foreign”), of either –
a) one of the “sovereign’s” form of government; and / or
b) “[t]he United States [i.e., the federal government thus formed] shall guarantee to [each several] State in this Union [the federal government will maintain] a Republican Form of Government”.
The “Republican Form of Government” so essential to the “sovereign states” forming the new “government of the federation” that the “sovereigns” understood that they must maintain a “republican form of government” of their own sovereign state, and the People’s newly formed federal government.
The 17th Amendment is fundamentally contrary to the US Constitution and thus not an amendment but usurpation of the Constitution.
Certainly there would not be the voting in lockstep on every issue, if Senators were selected by State Legislatures. They would not be so absolutely beholden to Senate “leaders” for campaign funding , earmarks, committee assignments. They would not be so independent from their state citizens for 5 years, only appearing to be interested in voters in election years. They would likely be in close ‘consultation’ to follow the policies of their state legislators instead of the marching orders from the likes of chuck schumer
And THAT is exactly why our Founders set up the system as they did!

He apparently does not realized how unhappy he has made a portion of his MAGA base in Texas by hinting at a willingness to get on the wrong side of our Texas race for the US Senate. had an ancestor who spent time in the stocks in Shelby Co. Alabama in 1822. For an “afray” involving about 15 people. He was one of 3 who were punished. Then on Jul 20, 1822, he was stabbed to death right in front of the sheriff. the guy who stabbed him was hanged in Oct. Rough county.

There were only 5 Senators in the Senate chamber when the 2 a.m. vote was taken. There was no quorum, no roll call and no recorded votes. Just a voice vote. Ayes have it.
My Senator, Eric Schmidt, was present. Supposedly a MAGA supporter. He could have requested a quorum call and delayed the vote. Forced Senators to be present to vote. But he didn’t. Nor did any other so called MAGA republican Senators bother to show up. So what difference does it make between Paxton and Coryne? President Trump show stay out of it and let Texans decide.

Several years ago I wrote Cornyn about some gun-grab thing the commie-crats were scheming.
He (his staffer actually) wrote back a vacuous email mumbling something about “legitimate hunters”.
Of course I emailed back that the Founding Fathers had not just returned from a “hunting trip” when they wrote the 2nd Amendment.
Can’t get Cornyn outta there fast enough.
Trump usually doesn’t endorse until he can see which horse to bet on. It makes his endorsement appear more valuable.
Let’s hope Pres Trump doesn’t take the risk of endorsing Cornyn only to watch Paxton win anyway. That could be highly embarrassing.

The GOP establishment is never going to allow the Save Act to pass. Their #1 interest is to lose their Senate and House majorities in the midterm so the Dems can lock up Trump. That’s what they care about. Cornyn is all in on that.
The way I see it, there is one way that Cornyn could overcome Paxton in the primary runoff.
Texas remains an open primary state. As usual, turnout in the primaries was pretty low compared to what it could have been. That leaves a great number of Democrats who did not vote in their primary. These people are qualified to cross over and vote in the Republican primary runoff. That is how drunk Dade Phelan was able to keep his seat in the Texas House two years ago.
Jasmine Crockett is from the Dallas area. You would expect Dallas to be her stronghold. There was confusion about voting locations in Dallas County and a number of people had to be redirected to their proper polling locations. This created a situation in which people were not in line to vote at their own locations by 7 PM. A judge gave an order to allow extra time for casting votes in the Democrat primary.
This is illegal. Only the state legislature can make such allowances. (Just ask Marc Elias.) Paxton’s office opposed the judge’s order and stopped any further late voting. The late ballots were segregated and held in suspension. I don’t know how those ballots were handled during the canvass.
I am willing to make a prediction that a fair number of Jasmine’s fan girls might be persuaded to show up and vote against Paxton (for Cornyn) in the primary runoff. The talking points would be simple and Jasmine LOVES to talk.

No Texan is going to vote for Cornyn with or without the POTUS endorsement of him. Trump’s supporters have put up with his endorsement of Lindsey Graham, Cocaine Mitch, John Thune and his praise of Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, all o which are do nothing RINOS. We need to start voting these people out. We can’t get out of this mess by continually voting in RINOS based on an endorsement from Trump.
