Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, hold a press briefing at the Pentagon.
Secretary Hegseth and General Caine spoke of attending the return ceremony for the refueling crews killed in the recent combat mission, then gave an operations update. General Caine noted the recent operation to drop 5,000/lb ground penetrating bombs along the coast to destroy underground missile and drone launch facilities.
General Caine also confirmed that A-10 Warthog fighters are deployed to hunt and destroy Iranian fast boat terror missions. The media Q&A begins at 20:05. WATCH:

Love the smell of A-10 30mm cannon smoke in the morning.
What an incredible weapon.
A-10 Warthog fighters against Iranian fast boat terror missions–would pay to see that for a dollar!
Wish we’d had the A10s in Nam. While Cobras & Spookies could rain fire, A10s are another beast altogether!
Brrrrrrrtttt I love it as well!
Best ground support aircraft devised since the Lockheed P-38 Lightning:
https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/196280/lockheed-p-38l-lightning/
Come to think of it, the original name for the “Warthog” was “Thunderbolt.” “Thunderbolt and Lightning.”
They unleashed the flying bath tubs on Iran!
A survivor in more ways than one!
The A10 Warthog is such a great weapons system for ground support and interdiction missions that it has survived numerous attempts to kill it off from bureaucrats and politicians.
An Infantryman’s best friend when things are not going the way you want them to.
Happened to be traveling “South” on I-15 in Nevada a couple/few weeks ago.
Bout 30 miles north of Vegas (Nellis AFB), I experienced a once in a lifetime event.
Flying on each side of I-15 (heading North), two aircraft, one on either side of, and close parallel to I-15, appeared out of the midmorning haze.
But… they were not at altitude. They were 200-250 feet off the deck!
Not large aircraft.
Not private.
Not configured like any of the fighter aircraft that are constantly buzzing about Nellis like angry hornets.
🤔
Was thinking NV Highway Patrol, maybe fire fighting aircraft, or something.
Nope
Two beautiful A-10’s.
So close (if I hadn’t been so surprised) prolly could have seen the pilots.
They were not breaking any speed records.
There is plenty of empty desert in those parts.
They knew they would be seen.
So glad I was there to see them.
Had a similar experience many years ago while riding a chair lift at a ski resort in Lake Tahoe. A solo A-10 cruised over the mountain top in the late afternoon sun. Unforgettable.
It’s like running into a white Buffalo, Calbear84.
As they say,
“We don’t remember days. We remember moments.”
True Dat!
It’s a wonder that they don’t build a newer variant for the future like they have with the F-16’s. Simply newer airframes, updated sensors, comms gear, and maybe a tweak to the GAU-8 for much more longevity.
It’s quite good and another production run will keep them in service for the foreseeable future for those close air support missions.
That’s the goal of the B-1 External Heavy-Stores Pylon program giving the Bone not only more, ah, bang for the buck while extending it’s utility until the B-21’s arrive in sufficient numbers.
That’s fine and all, but how long can that B-1 loiter on station to provide fire support for ground elements compared to an A-10?
Well yes, the B-1 does not loiter. Different missions, but the same principle of extending the life of a tool that does its job well.
I suppose I should have been a bit more verbose in my agreement with you, but I saved the comment and after reading my comment I discovered the edit widget was not available for a tweek.
It’s not sexy but there should always be a place for close air support and low tech bombs.
Agreed. As long as we have boots on the ground there’s going to be close air support…
As far as sexy, I’ve thought everything from the WWII F4U, P51, F4f/F6F/F8F on through the birds flying when I was in Uncle Sam’s Yacht Club, in the early Seventies were and still are sexy…
It’s a character flaw, but I’ve learned to live with it. ;-}
Do not forget the Skyraider, A-1, Flying Dumptruck!! Carrier capable.
At my age forgetting is par for the course… 🤔
In all seriouness, yep, the A1 and the A-4 Skyhawk, a bird a buddy, once an attorney and once a Naval Aviator flew.
So many to remember…
They just put new wings on about 160 of them plus updated avionics packages
The A-10 Warthog…the military’s version of Larry Bird…not the fastest speed, not the highest “ups”, but boy can it score on you and destroy your hopes!
Nice…
I’ve associated the Marty Robbins Big Iron tune with the A10 for a good while now.
It warms my heart to know that all the evil bastards that support terror around the world are being annihilated.
Regarding the October 7 attack on Israel, imagine if your kids were attending a music festival in the countryside near where you live and they were kidnapped, tortured and murdered. Wouldn’t you want to kill every last MFer that had anything to do with it?
Your real enemy was counting on that emotion
Are you a parent or grandparent? Personally, I get very emotional when people are tortured to death.
To my way back machine we go…shortly after 9/11, OBL and co. was threatening American children…wanting I think, to kill a million of our treasure.
Asking for an infidel….
We seem to have forgotten what this pack of muslim swine did to a few hundred Russian children in Chechnya 25-30 years ago? I believe that this will be coming our way soon if we don’t physically remove the threat…all of the threat!
4 kids, 7 grandkids
And too many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews to count.
So the terrorists aren’t my real enemies?
Tell me, oh wise one, who is?
Hmm, I don’t think they were counting on their terrorist networks to be blasted, emasculated, buried alive killed/captured and then have their patron state taken apart in a surgical bombing campaign.
Damn straight.
“General Caine also confirmed that A-10 Warthog fighters are deployed to hunt and destroy Iranian fast boat terror missions.”
Greta* is not going to like that.
/ sarc
For tank hunting, they use Depleted Uranium rounds.
Perhaps they switched to conventional ammunition for boat hunting.
(*) For the record, I do not care what Miss Thunberg thinks or says
Well, look at it this way….Greta is no long a misunderstood child….she is now an adult….so she can “toughen up buttercup”.
And I agree with your “*”!
She may be an adult by age; however, she displays an underdeveloped emotional temperament.
Pretty cool how many people keyed on the Warthog deployment. Of all the things they talked about the “A10 Warthogs have joined the fight” comment gets a lot of people talking. Including me. I was going to post something about this on this thread but many others beat me to it.
It also tells us, without actually telling us, what stage we are in….the Iranians are down to scraps.
There is something so intrinsically American about that old weapons platform that makes an old dog like me smile.
“A10 Warthogs have joined the fight”…
The democrats will be saying that the war machine is so desperate that they are using old equipment now.
Old =/= ineffective.
Case in point, the B-52’s. Still flying strong as they were over engineered to the point they are flying original airframes built in the 60’s and 70’s. The new engines for they will keep them flying for years yet.
Wasn’t there a saying “B-52” the only thing over thirty you can trust.
The joke is that Buffs will be still be flying after the B-21 had been long retired and eventually get refit with shields, and warp drive for space.
“Someone over thirty you can trust” during the original Gulf War. Also called the BUFF.
Equipment that’s still tearing the sh!t out of anything they target.
They are feared!
For good reason!!
Pete continues to impress me more than I first thought possible when he was first delegated to the role of Defense Sec.
our national debt just crossed 39 trillion and this administration wants 200 billion for a war of aggression, yet The President insists it’s only a military operation…

Iran is the “aggressor” nation and has been since 1979. Remember 444 days? I do.
Operation Boot.
Operation Ajax.
Look it up.
Things didn’t start in 79.
Let’s start by cutting the billions in strategic and institutionalized fraud uncovered by DOGE, Nick Shirley, and James O’Keefe.
Then we can worry about how much D O W is spending to destroy a nearly five decade old “death to America” operation gifted cash and weapons by 12 years of JoBama and Valerie Jarrett.
Amen to that, BrandingIron5! We would not be in that much debt if the fraudsters were made to pay up.
Looking at you Walz, Newscum, etc. and their illegal aliens (Somalians, etc). Oops, I forgot Mrs. Graham.
American taxpayers have given around $170+ Billion to Ukraine and received nothing in return.
N O T H I N G
And apparently still giving money to Afghanistan.
We can blame that on Congress who refuses to follow through on many other cuts, including waste, fraud and abuse!
Last summer at a party I was talking to a guy who trains pilots for one of the U.S. airlines and studies all the problems in the industry to integrate into his teaching. He asked me “What do all airplane crashes of the last 10 years have in common?” I instantly replied “DEI”. He got a quick frown on his face and then corrected me saying “Mixed cockpits”. He said when men and women are together in a cockpit they get chatty and it distracts them. He said when it’s two men together in a cockpit they don’t talk and are focused on what’s going on.
I disagree with his conclusions. Based on what I see in the corporate world in order to meet racial, gender and identity quotas, leadership promotes people into positions they aren’t qualified for.
Part of the same problem. They call it ‘CRM’.
Crew
Resource
Management
And it used to be – most airline pilots had a military background.
They already had a tremendous number of flight hours in various aircraft.
And didn’t United Airlines announce a year or 2 ago they were stepping up their DEI efforts in the cockpit???
Ugh
Global Energy Market Shock
The assault on Ras Laffan—a facility responsible for about 20% of global LNG supply—has triggered a sharp surge in energy prices. European gas prices jumped 35%, while Brent crude oil climbed above $112 per barrel. The disruption is especially severe because there is no strategic reserve for LNG, making the market highly vulnerable to supply shocks.
Countries like India, which relies on Qatar for nearly half its LNG imports, face potential gas shortages affecting power generation and fertilizer production. Analysts warn that prolonged outages could force industrial curtailments and impact urban piped gas supply.

Meanwhile, over 15 million illegal aliens are harming the U.S. by taking jobs, driving down real wages, using social services, engaging in crime, etc. etc. etc.
Wrong thread
““You shall not muzzle the ox while it is threshing” -Deuteronomy 25:4 🙂
What seems abundantly clear is that Israel is going to level Lebanon, and capture territory.
That won’t play well with the voters here.
We’re goid with the money being spent and the progress on getting rid of the Death to America terrorists known as Iran. Decades of Islamic abuse to the world hopefully will be over and a new paradigm of peace can begin. The billions more to Ukraine and the Euroweinies not so much. An endless war supporting Russia bad, Ukraine good, an expansive NATO along with the green energy/climate change/WHO/UN/BuildBack Better just don’t seen to support America First. Let’s end that sad adventure and let the EU (who have just failed to support us once again in Iran) manage and pay for propping up Ukraine all by themselves. We will be better for it!
I really enjoyed watching General Caine discuss details about our incredible 8th Air Force personnel. You can see how much pride and admiration he has for these amazing young people, who carry SO much responsibility on their shoulders. They certainly do come from a Mighty heritage and it does indeed sound like they are honoring and living up to their legacy. They are a national treasure. May God Bless each and every one of them, and May God protect them, guide their missions, and keep them safe! May God Bless and protect all of our military who are giving selflessly to protect our country and our way of life. Every one of them, even stateside, is in potential harm’s way and we owe them our gratitude and our prayers. May God Bless America, the home of the Free because of The Brave.
