This is very interesting because Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer went to Paris last weekend to meet with their Chinese counterparts and organize the deliverables for the upcoming summit between Chairman Xi Jinping and President Trump.
At roughly the same moment that Bessent and Greer were meeting with China, President Trump sent out the Truth Social message requesting Chinese ships to come to the Strait of Hormuz and escort their oil. I said at the time of Trump’s message that Chairman Xi was going to have to negotiate through this issue carefully because it was very obvious that President Trump was not going to maintain any diplomatic pretenses when he met with Chairman Xi.
Yesterday, during the St Patrick’s Day celebration President Trump said the summit was cancelled. “We’re resetting the meeting and it looks like it’ll take place in about five weeks,” President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office in an event with Micheál Martin, the Irish prime minister.
Today, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed there is no scheduled replacement date for the cancelled summit.

XI came here during Trump 1.0. President Trump rolled out the red carpet for him, welcomed the Chinese Chairmen into his own home in Florida, and treated his guest like royalty. I have a suspicion that President Trump expected a lot more cooperation from Xi after this personal outreach. I also have a suspicion that the fact that no such cooperation was forth coming is seen by President Trump as a personal slight.
But maybe it’s just me.

Idk of any actual news coming out of China is true due to their strict control of the people and visitors. Any video I’ve seen is strictly phone sized. Getting it out of China could mean the end of your life. That said Ive seen empty cities full of shops and apartment buildings, all abandoned and other cities the same, with very few people and a restaurant open and a shop down the road, no longer bustling. Where did the people go? They weren’t forced to take our clotshot but they did board up and guard the places in Wuhan. Did there residents get stuck inside to die or was that media manipulation? Xi was here in California over something when NewScum went all out to get all the bums of the streets of San Francisco. Anyhow, The only thing Xi has going is the support of CCP and their military. I really wish that had been said, as a few things in the house broke prematurely this week that were from China. It is my daily, monthly, yearly irritation. We have landfills full of Chinese crap. No offense to the good people of China. It’s the Communist regime who demands things be made with no budget, innovation, creativity, or proper materials. Or how do the people feel about their beautiful and natural environment seeing all those ships from the Chinese Navy no doubt taking cruises in the area? Where the “FinEst” train would cross from Estonia to Finland is about 250 miles from St. Petersburg. Can you imagine the reaction of China if someone proposed to build something like that anywhere near China?
When the possibility of “what if” there was a conflict with China and then how that might affect the “FinEst” railway? Vesterbacka seemed unfazed about the possibility that the railway might get shut down at some point.
One more beautiful treasure of nature and breathtaking creation to be trashed by a totally unnecessary project, brought into being for the purpose of the CCP-PRC having an entre’ to a country, a foothold in the region for the CCP-PRC but not for the benefit of the people to be affected by it.

So, fast forward all these years later, Finland is a free, sovereign nation but the prospect of the CCP-PRC invading the space seems to me a very real threat to that!
