Early stages. So, for now we just watch what unfolds. However, if President Trump and Secretary Rubio manage to take down the dictatorial regimes of Venezuela, Iran and Cuba all in 2026… Jumpin’ ju-ju bones, that would be remarkable.

As I recall way, way back when the Global Crossing deal was percolating and it looked like things were going swimmingly, there were yacht meetings – Terry McAuliffe was in on it, so was Li Ka-Shing, the shipping magnate, owner of Hutchison-Wampoa (that had gotten the deal to operate both ends of the Panama Canal) – Li Ka-Shing, uncle of Rupert Murdoch’s third wife, he was connected to the People’s Liberation Army and he was somehow involved in this Global Crossing deal which was about handling all the Defense Department communications.
Such a great deal for everyone! Even the powerful Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee – John McCain – thought so!
But George W. Bush became President and he CANCELLED the deal – God bless him for that!

What happened to Global Crossing?
Well, I guess they didn’t have much else cooking.
In the stories I was reading back in 1999-2000, there were also indications of the CCP-PRC putting their exploratory toes in the waters of the Bahamas – would they be getting anyone in the region on board with expanded development? My thought was that somehow stupid Bill Clinton would be like Jimmy Carter with the Panama Canal and make some kind of “peaceful” overtures to Cuba wherein Guantanamo Bay Naval Base would be totally ceded and then the CCP-PRC could have access to that fabulous deep water harbor and do all kinds of wonderful things in the region, while already operating the Panama Canal ports.
Everyone is confusing three different regimes.
Maduro was just a grifter money based Dictator. The Castro regime is a political Communist dictatorship. Iran is an ideological communistic regime. The first two can be toppled and the remains can be quelled. Iran is an Islamist hierarchy, it is in their heads. It is their core belief. Not money and not a better life for their populations. They believe in the end of days. They cannot be subdued, how do you test for thought crimes.
Only the message of the cross can change hearts, souls, minds.

I recall many years ago on a flight between a couple of those Caribbean islands on an old TWA Connie that had been sold to this 3rd level local carrier. The inflight service was two stewardesses one with a bottle of coke and the other with a bottle of Rum. Your choice, coke, rum, or rum and coke. With the interior lights constantly flickering on and off, not much coke was consumed!

In my younger days, I realized I had an intuitive ability to read people, so I started studying to bolster that intuition. Here’s my take on Diaz Canel FWIW based on the above speech. 🙂
Diaz Canel spoke about the negotiations that happened with Obama. His body language suggests that these negotiations were favorable to Cuba’s regime (he opens up his hands when mentioning them where his hands are laced together the rest of the time). We know that despite lots of talk, nothing really changed for the people of Cuba. Canel is hoping things will proceed the same this go-round: lots of tense talks that don’t really change anything for the regime.
Interestingly, both then and now, the negotiations were described by the Cuban regime as having to negotiate “bilateral differences” between two nations.
Later, he mentions the “government of the United States” and grips the podium briefly before going back to laced hands.
When he mentions “United States,” his hands are wide open.
I would be willing to bet that there are lots of “United States government” officials with dirty dealings and backstabbing involved with Cuba, and when Diaz Canel mentions “United States,” he is thinking of President Trump. Just like Putin, this man knows that Trump can be trusted, while the fed gov cannot.
He also grips the podium on “international actors” who put together the most recent talks.
With Obama it was Canada and Pope Francis.
No mention of anyone other than Marco Rubio and Castro’s grandson have been publicly disclosed at this point. But whoever is encouraging these negotiations makes Diaz Canel nervous. I’m wondering if the same puppet masters behind Maduro are also threatening Diaz Canel? Telling him to appear to cooperate but in reality they want him to stall as long as possible?
His eyebrows go up when he says “possible solution” to the “bilateral differences.” Usually people raise their eyebrows when something is true for them, to emphasize a fact or to get you to believe what they are saying. (Think Nancy Pelosi.)
There is some hope on solutions here. But is he hoping for a real solution (I’m dead if I resist the puppeteer and I’m dead if I resist POTUS Trump.) or is he hoping for a return to the status quo like with Obama?
So, there is a sense of nervousness and being closed off and also openness to POTUS Trump and Marco Rubio’s negotiations.
His hands are laced together the entirety of the speech except the brief moments to grip the podium or to open up to United States and the Obama negotiations. He really did not want to give that speech.
Also, his hand gestures at the beginning lead me to believe he is a true believer in the principles of the Cuban Revolution, but my guess is that he has believed propaganda and is not in touch with the reality of Cuban communism because he is not the original revolutionary, unlike the Iranian Regime whose leaders were in their 80s.
Like Sundance said, we just have to wait and see.
I think it is much more similar to situation in Czech Republic in 1989, when communist negotiated with Vaclav Havel that they will not use force if he will be easy on them!!! After Vaclav Havel agreed, they gave up power peacefully.
I always laugh when I think of Cuba, we have a U.S. military base on the island of Cuba.
It goes to show how Corruption Inc. has controlled our world far too long. I see a time when the devil will never interfere in human affairs ever again. Thank God the Almighty Ruler.
