I’m so blessed.
We live in an agricultural region, where we’re able to buy nearly all our groceries from the small locally owned country store nearby, where they sell locally raised produce, organic beef and chicken and locally caught seafood.
What we don’t buy there we get through Azure Standard out of Oregon, where they grow a lot of their own products and are a trustworthy source of clean and natural organic foods year round.
What few foods we buy from the supermarket are also organic and hard to find, like A2/A2 milk products and a few organic vegetables.
There’s also a very fine farmer’s market in the spring and summer, where local farmers and beekeepers make their products available.
Small town life in the sticks has some mighty fine advantages that go a long way toward making up for whatever else might be lacking here, like movie theaters and abundant nearby shopping options.
I truly feel for folks in cities dependent upon big grocery chains, and worse yet, those living in food deserts, where fresh foods are mostly not to be found.
Life is good.
Yes, you are very blessed, Ma! Small town life has many advantages and living in a rural, agricultural area instills in us a sense of self-sufficiency and independence. I grew up in a small town and life was good. After college I moved to the city because my job required it. I am retired now and long for the peace and quiet and tranquility of rural life, separated from the hustle, noise and traffic of the city. And depending on where you live, separated from the violence, too!

I had to go to the city to work ‘for a minute,’ which took a toll, but gave me an even deeper appreciation for the close-to-nature way I’d grown up.
Like so many places in America, and in particular the traditionally conservative areas, we’re somewhat under assault here with the planned invasion of a violent and aggressive criminal element, but it’s still infinitely better than what the cities and larger towns have going on, so we remain grateful and make sure to stand our ground.

So what is the problem with the losses in the House? If we are so far ahead, shouldn’t this be a layup? I know the news will bend the story to the Libturds, but whatever voters are coming out, we are losing.
The House seat in Texas yesterday was a Democrat safe seat that was vacant.
Tarrant County Texas Senate seat went Dem.
I seem to remember TC uses Dominion. But the turnout wasn’t spectacular.
But it did go 17 points for President Trump.
We are talking about the US House here, not the Texas Senate.
Republicans lost a special election in Virginia’s 7th Senate district in 2023, when Democrat Aaron Rouse defeated Republican Kevin Adams. This race was a Democrat gain, following the resignation of Republican Jen Kiggans after she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Additionally, in New Hampshire’s Rockingham 1 House district, Republicans lost to Democrat Hal Rafter, who won 55.9% of the vote after Republican incumbent Benjamin T. Bartlett IV resigned for health reasons. This was also a Democrat gain in a special election held on September 19, 2023.
Yet the following year, Republicans took the Presidency, the House, and the Senate. For some reason, Republicans just don’t turn out for special elections.
I wouldn’t attach anything significant to this Tarrant County Senate seat based on that.
Look at what is counting votes.
Turnout was anemic. 15% turnout.
There were also 20,000 fewer voters in the runoff election than the initial election….most were republican voters not showing up.

Not true. It was a red seat that was vacated by a republican who was promoted to state government and had won with 60% of the vote in 2020.

We are talking about the US House seat, not the Texas House seat.
Democrat Christian Menefee won the special election for Texas’ 18th Congressional District, a Houston-based U.S. House seat, on Saturday, February 1, 2026. He defeated fellow Democrat Amanda Edwards in a runoff, securing approximately 68% of the vote.
When someone refers to the “House” without a state qualifier, I presume they are talking about the US House of Representatives.
Without mention of name or race and with Betsy’s follow-on comment, it appeared the discussion was about the House seat I mentioned. It helps when people give more information that a general comment 🙂

Fire Point Is Gone. Just… Gone.
In the summer of 2025, the Ukrainian company Fire Point suddenly burst into the media spotlight alongside its cruise missile, “Flamingo.” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally presented the missile, calling it one of the most successful developments, capable of striking targets up to 3,000 kilometers away.
Soon after, however, uncomfortable details began to surface.
The New York Times reported that before Russia’s full-scale invasion, the company had operated as a casting agency for film and television productions. Later, information emerged linking Fire Point to a figure known by the nickname “Ryoshyk,” a key suspect in a major NABU corruption investigation, who reportedly received mobilization exemption (“reservation”) through Fire Point LLC.
There were also claims that Timur Mindich, a fugitive businessman and now a top suspect in a large-scale energy sector corruption case, had at one point allegedly attempted to become a co-owner of Fire Point.
And then, at a certain moment — bang — all public data about the “successful defense company” vanished from search platforms that aggregate information from state registries.
