German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever held a joint press conference at the North Sea Summit in Hamburg. During the pontificating EU session much anxiety was expressed about the Kingdom of Denmark’s ownership of Greenland and their position to use NATO leverage to remain sovereign to their interests.
During question-and-answer session about EU energy, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen then said this about the position of overall European energy dependence. WATCH:
.
Prime Minister Fredericksen couldn’t quite bring herself to say Trump was right; however, the reality of her statement proved that President Donald Trump was right. Imagine that.

I’m sorry Sundance, I just couldn’t bring myself to click on that video to listen.
These people make me want to puke all over my shoes when I hear them pontificating about stuff.
The sounds of their voices drive me insane.
If you can post a link to the transcript somewhere.
Thanks
Actually, her words are sort of the opposite of pontificating. Words she didn’t say, but was thinking, “I can’t believe we are at a place where, not only do these things have to be said–but I am standing here saying them.” What she actually said, as Sundance references, was “President Donald J. Trump is right. About everything.” (Just didn’t use quite those words)
TAW!
The lowest information CTH commenter is smarter than all the EU leadership combined.
I mean, the sad/funny part is… that is not hyperbole.
100% correct!!
Thank You Mrs. Sunshine … That would me me ! :^)
no me lol
I am Dumbicus!
LMAO. X-ring! That is a meme in the making.
Her saying that, trying not to choke, with the windmills on their podiums. 😀
the EU would be better if they had clowns that would come out and pie everyone in the face.
They have the clowns, they just don’t have any pie…
😂 😂 😂
But we don’t consume nearly as many cucumber sandwiches (triangle cut on toasted bread) at five star resorts funded by the US taxpayer.
You have to admit that’s a pretty high bar!
I don’t consider anybody on this site ‘low information’. Quite the opposite. Very intelligent and aware. But I believe your job is to tear everyone down a notch? Sigh.
I think she’s saying the simplest CTH readers are more engaged than the most complex elite in the EU. It’s a compliment.
Yes, it is a compliment.
There is a world of difference in meaning between “lowest” and “low”. I think KitKat was reading too fast and thought I wrote “low”. But KitKat is still smarter than all the EU leadership combined.
Edit: Correct a spelling error.
Well, I once had a girlfriend who found a way to be insulted whenever I gave her a compliment. If I told her, “you look good today”, I’d immediately be hit with, “What are you saying? Are you saying I usually look bad?” Talking about a draining relationship.
Gee thanks….
lol
Why thank you!
Madame, I resemble that remark!
I resemble that remark!
I can hear you, know. 🙂
I don’t know. Take Mark Carney, for example. Although not EU (but close enough), he’s run two central banks. He’s not dumb. Which leaves you with corrupt and evil. Nobody encourages hordes of 3rd world savages to overrun their countries. All the while, brainwashing the sheep into believing that it’s out of compassion and throwing them in jail if they protest. Although it is stupid, that’s not done out of stupidity. It’s corrupt and evil.
They KNEW, at the time, President Trump was telling them the plainly obvious truth regarding buying Russian gas/oil while they were trying to ignite a war with Russia. But they needed the cheap Russian gas to keep their sheep satiated while they were making bank on the killing of 18-year-olds in another land. Truly rotten people.
You’re right.
I was being too generous and I was wrong implying they are dumb. Absolutely they are corrupt and evil. As is nearly every pol in the United States.
Mark Carney has painted himself into a corner
Mark Carney doesn’t give a sh!t. If his masters want him to destroy Canada, he will. Unfortunately, he has enough money that he’ll never have to live with the consequences of the destruction he brings Canada.
You might be shocked if you found out just how shallow and uninformed some top executives and bankers really are. They may have fancy-looking degrees and preposterously lucrative jobs but that does not mean they are smart.
Thank you for that Sharon.
I still can’t listen.
Even if they admit Trump is the greatest man alive the sound of their voice just kills me.
PS: AdRem, my initial post had the wrong email to sign in.
I put .con instead of .com.
Sorry.
I undrstand, Patrick geagan! 🙂
It’s Obama’s for me, our own Trudeau and Carney as well..🤮
There is no voice that will boil my blood quicker than Wolf Blitzer’s. Even Obama’s or Hellary’s.
Thank you Sharon, on your assurance I listened to the video (I feel the same as Patrick above) she was very level headed and easy to listen to and didn’t use and stupid nuance or jargon.
Paraphrasing: “We should not have ever outsourced our energy production to Russia, now our energy needs are always entangled in security discussions, we need to be independent with our energy production, its time to build it up and fast”
Just a little side point.
This conference was called by the Germans to get about 8 European countries to make the North (or German) German Sea, the “international powerhouse” of windmill generated unreliable taxpayer subsidised part time energy, “to power every house in Europe”
In other words the only sensible Dane who was not there was Hans Christian Anderson.
The plan is is cover the seabed with hundreds of cables from Ireland to France to Holland Germany Norway and Denmark.
We are begging for your great President to come and knock some heads together – again.
That’s quite a security risk- now that we’ve seen how popular cutting cables has become (Russia/Ukraine)
Seems like the obvious answer is less of them- not more.
Yes, we must make sure the British and American secret service are deprived of wire/pipe cutters¡
It’s too bad they didn’t just ‘decomission’ their coal, natural gas and nuclear power, rather than stupidly tearing them down. They could bring them back on line quicker than building new facilities. Hell, the permitting stage will take years.
If I heard right Denmark and Germany are signing an energy agreement, we know Germany is in the red on energy, found this about Denmark.
Wind Power Dominance: Denmark generates the highest share of its electricity from wind globally, with turbines fulfilling over half the nation’s needs, including pioneering offshore wind farms.
Energy Islands: Denmark is developing artificial energy islands in the North Sea to serve as hubs for offshore wind, producing enough power to export.
Momma said life is like a box of Danish chocolates.
NO modern state can rely on wind or solar completely for its energy needs and it needs gas, coal, oil or nuclear running concurrently as backup. Germany is going back to nuclear. Is this really better than oil?
A nation should endeavor to have both hydrocarbon and nuclear energy facilities. Running an entire economy on electricity (i.e. nuclear) isn’t sound policy. Hydrocarbons are require across a wide breadth of transportation and industrial power support.
Germany seriously disabled many (most?) of its nuclear plants, so that presents a serious problem if they hope to reuse them. If not, that’s a problem, too.
In order to have a reliable grid, for every MW of generating capacity from unreliable sources (wind, solar) there must be an equal or greater generating capacity from a reliable source (gas, coal or nuclear) immediately available 100% of the time.
Love the one lone person clapping at the end of her remarks.
The EU hates having to say, “Trump was right!” And that is exactly what she is saying 😂
I thought I was listening to another Kamala Harris word salad.
I think she sounded extremely sensible. If you heard K.H. in that presentation, you need help.
Saying a thing does not make it so.
She acknowledges Europe is in trouble and must do better. I didn’t hear that she (or any other EU leaders) have any plan whatsoever to make Europe less dependent on imported energy.
They are not drilling their own North Sea oil. They aren’t fracking. They aren’t digging their own coal.
Germany whines that it should not have shut down all its nuclear. But I don’t hear them deciding to build new nuclear plants.
Buying solar panels, batteries, wind-turbines and EVs from China makes Europe dependent on China.
Do yourself a solid and listen. It is SO satisfying to hear the Trump Doctrine from a Euroweenie. Delicious.
I’ll try and listen.
I just have come to loathe these creatures so much.
Patrick, it is curd to her speech and it is only a few minutes. Give it a listen😊😊
“cued”… lol
I am waiting for this:
Great find !
Just listen to her. You’ll be OK. 🙂
It’s 2 minutes of “Trump has been right all along”……without saying his name. Actual, non pretending. Quite refreshing.
In ten years she will be giving the same sort of speech acknowledging how Denmark was never able to protect Greenland even with help from the rest of Europe.
It is actually funny and worth a listen.
It’s like an apology where you have no intent of using the words “I’m sorry”, because that would mean you were guilty.
Agreed!
She was hesitant to even come out and openly make that statement regarding energy, she was so afraid of the hard core crazies around whom you can’t say the truth. She stumbled through it.
She must have drawn the short straw.
She lost a bet and had to get that haircut too.
🤣
Good one. Hahahaha!
You can literally hear it in her voice!!!
Heh!
My eyes are getting bad. I thought you said, The Snort Straw.
No, listen to it again. She kept saying “energy production,” not the method by which it will be produced. She can easily dance around that by saying they’re going 100% renewables.
The “CRAZY” runs deeper than people realize.
The reality is they have no choice but to be dependent upon imported fossil fuels lest they implode their entire manufacturing sector (which is their real goal, but they cannot admit it). If they implode their manufacturing sector, they will become dependent upon exporting nations like China and the USA for their manufacturing. But they say they don’t want to be dependent…
…and round and round they go.
So, good on her for admitting that Trump was right and being dependent upon Russia for fossil fuels was a horrible idea. But don’t make the mistake of assuming they’re not climate crazies bent on zero fossil fuel use. As long as China makes all the pollution “over there”, they can pretend they’re saving the planet.
They are realizing that many of their ideas looked good on paper, but now that they need to do it, live it and not get hung by the people, it’s not looking quite like they thought.
Don’t forget Sundance’s article on ‘carbon credits’.
I am sorry Hokkoda and others.
You have no idea how insane ALL (with the exception of Hungary and 2 others) European leaders are.
As I pointed out this group of idiots were ordered to come to Germany to finalise plans to “turn the North Sea into one giant windmill field and decide how to interconnect all Countries via cables to them”
They are crazy.
The mention of non mention of President Trump is done through gritted teeth.
They have no intention of abandoning this NUT Zero policy until Europe freezes over.
Trying to understand the big picture wrt Russia. Is it in US & European interests to buy NO hydrocarbons from Russia? That is, must we still treat Russia as a pariah state 35 years post-USSR, while we buy from Middle Eastern countries? And how will isolating The Bear affect future relations? What would we need to see from Russia in order to trade more freely?
Except under presidents like Biden, the US doesn’t need to buy a lot of foreign oil. Europe may not be quite in our situation, though.
In the case of the EU, yes. Russia isn’t their enemy and if the price is right buy it. But make sure your energy sources are dispersed and not single sourced. Common sense.
It’s in our best interests to generate a lot of energy so that Russia has no choice but to sell their energy at rock bottom prices. As the price drops, Russia has to increase output to maintain revenue streams, which in turn lowers the prices even more.
This is promising to be a very interesting year…
“This is promising to be a very interesting year…”
Yes, a very interesting year for sure. Obama is openly telling Waltz to keep the insurrection riots going. Looks like he is publicly running for communist dictator of US by color revolution.
Sh*t show ended this morning around 5:AM……Hallelujah.
They have been purchasing energy from Russia for years, essentially financing Russia’a operations in Ukraine. Now, they have decided to ban Russian energy and give themselves a two year cushion, before the ban takes effect (as reported by Breitbart https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2026/01/27/eu-bans-imports-of-russian-gas-but-gives-itself-two-year-grace-period/ )
Meanwhile, they are in trade negotiations with India, who also purchase Russian energy. How does this “energy laundering” help the situation in Ukraine?
Meanwhile, they have applied ridiculous sanctions on the Russian people, which in no way adversely affects Putin, or the Russian military.
The EU have transformed into a bunch of irrelevant, feckless, big-mouth, Karens, buzzing around like so many annoying gnats!
But they get to virtue signal, and that makes them better than anyone else regardless of reality.
And that’s all that matters ain’t it?!?
There’s an issue that I haven’t seen lately, since the you key SMO.
There has been an ongoing disagreement over the location a pipeline to transport gas from fields offshore Israel to the Euro trash. This seems to be on mute.
I believe PDJT opposing Russian gas was 2 fold.
One was pushing US gas export and building the terminals for such shipment to Europe. US $$$$.
Second was helping our biggest ally sell their excess.
Just a thought.
Denmark will come to enjoy global warming. I’ve been wanting a good bit more of myself the last several days.
We get global warming every May or June and it lasts until September or October…
President Trump’s speech at Davos was a bucket of cold water splashed in the face of European leaders and world CEOs. The response was largely “What? Where am I? What day is this? We’re WHAT? Uh …. this guy’s right … about ALL of it.”
Marke Rutte was already awake and is way ahead. Others are coming around more slowly.
President Trump’s speech to the WEF at Davos will be recorded in history as the moment the world changed direction. And let’s not kid ourselves. What is happening in Minneapolis is a part of the worldwide unraveling of the old world order and its illicit financing. It is all connected.
I agree, a very important speech at least since WWII, with post war geopolitics. He basically called them bums. Their old world pearl clutching is exhausting and that somehow we can’t get along without their ancient wisdom…or some such nonsense. Think of following,…you pick, which emasculated male a Macron or a Starmer, or a chick with a ___k, Ursula.
Get bent EU, sit down and shut up, America’s gotta correct things as its already fixed.
MAGA!
Slowly but slowly common sense is re-awakening. The next thing will be admitting the hypocracy of sourcing Russian Energy from anywhere else but Russia, lol.
Tough love only hurts until you see it for what it is.
Heh!
That was practically short but sweet.
It’s worth listening to, and it barely lasts more than a minute.
When you listen to it……listen to it from the perspective that they just came back from the woodshed after getting lined out by President Trump.
I’m not kidding.
Sundance worded it better, but what she did was capitulate and recognize Trump is right, and she did it on the behalf of all of them.
Amazing to hear one of them say…….as bad as they despise recognizing the truth.
Winamins, y’all!
Gosh! Just imagine how this kind of think is going to devalue virtue-signaling.
They have worked very hard on their victim-hood.
So where will Europe get their supplies to begin drilling in the North Sea?
Not anytime soon if they saw this:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ng2q2wIDr_c
And just like that…she fell over.
My friend is going to pick his boy up from school and head over there to straighten things out. 😉
Yikes!
China. And like everything from Harbor Freight, they will break on first use.
I suspect Europe as a whole is going re-embrace nuclear power with gusto PDQ
ronald reagan was right. he told western europe to nix the pipeline from russia ,in the 1980’s. he went so far as to stop any heavy equipment rom america going there to construct it, by exec order. so caterpillar went to belgium and built a plant.
Slightly disagree. The pipeline should have been built along with an invitation for the newly formed Russia to join NATO/EU.
Not so sure the atmosphere was the same 40 years ago, actually….I’m confident it wasn’t.
This is when Russia was the communist Soviet Union. Reagan was right.
That would be after the Reagan presidency, though.
after the soviet’s ,yes. reagan was up against soviet empire which he and solzhenitsyn dismantled.
Sort of reminds me of the teenager who quickly states freedom and moves from the home only to have to return when hard times hit. Can’t see them ever standing on their own over there. What is the status of Greenland? Oh and yes again President Trump makes them see the light.
I wonder how long Russia will continue to sell Europe the energy they need to make guns, tanks, and bombs for war against Russia.
They are too busy paying for their socialist state and foreign invaders to consider fielding a proper military.
Literally what President Trump has pointed out to the EU.
Russia will keep selling with no worries.
The EU is destroying itself and is going as fast as it can to finish the job.
Come on now, say it. Pres….Presid….President…..Trr….Trrummp…was….rri….rrigh…..rrrr. Right. There, now that wasn’t so hard.
empacted wisdom tooth.
do the europeans actually do anything except talk?
They surrender.
That’s the correct spelling for France, yep!
They start wars and then surrender.
Wasn’t that long ago the Germans were laughing at Trump when he warned them of reliance on foreign oil at the UN.
They are not laughing anymore.
Funny how that works….
Trump was right.
But when she says that Europe can’t rely on Russian fossil fuels, and that energy = security, she neglects the elephant in the room.
The Euros are still committed to Green Energy!!! Denmark will import windmills from Germany’s Siemens … or some such. The rest of the world will move on without them as they fall further and further into chaos and purchase EVs made in China from good old fashion coal power.
Just goes to show….
….Trump was right………..about everything!!
Again
I’m guessing they will go the solar and windmill route to produce their future energy needs huh?
Going to take a whole lot of windmills to produce enough aluminum to make a beer keg let alone an aircraft.
Astute observation…that is almost certainly what she is saying. (or, at least what she wants the climate crazies to think she meant)
I not so sure about that. Germany has had a very expensive lesson on the overall folly of depending on fickle renewable energy.
Or the Hamster Wheel. They have had great success giving the hamsters cocaine and they believe it will be reliable power for the future of Europe.
🤣🤡😂🤡😆😂
How das one zay “egg on der face” urt “Vee like eatink crow” ?
The level of pretending engaged in by European politicians reminds me of the old joke about a crowd in a restaurant gathering ’round a woman choking on a fish bone. A man pushes his way through the crowd announcing, “Let me through! I play a doctor on TV!”
But the EU leaders don’t think it’s a joke and they would all step aside to let the pretend doctor treat the patient…until she dies.
That’s when they have to admit that Trump was right…about energy dependence and fish bones and everything else!
You mean all those windmills and solar panels you bought from China aren’t enough. You mean that net zero carbon pipe dream is unattainable. Well hush my greeny weenies. About time you nincompoops pulled your head out of the sand .
I don’t think it sand.
Look at them snickering:
I love it. Either they will become energy independent by building more windmills (rather buying them from China), building more solar farms (rather buying them from China), or planting more olive trees and getting their oil from that. If I’m not mistaken, they don’t have superior fossil fuel sources all on their own. Great aspirations nonetheless need both possibilities and a plan for reaching those possibilities, so I wait for that clarification most anxiously.
The Europeans colonized and invaded half the world in an attempt to secure natural resources they do not have. I do think they have some coal, but produce a small fraction of what they once did. Oil and NG, not so much.
I would bet they have some reliable resources. You have to be looking for them to find them. Their green religion won’t let them explore.
Yes, it was a stupid plan for Europe to rely on Russia for gas and oil. But the Biden Administration had a plan to mandate electric vehicles nationwide, and they wanted to rely on China to supply the batteries for all those vehicles. Which plan was the more stupid plan? You might say it was a play at the plate, because the leftists are true idiots, whether here in the US or in Europe. I was glad to see Tesla announcing its intent to start producing lithium here in the US. Now, if only we can prevent the greens from tying that plan up in court for the next decade.
She’s either advocating for the continuation of the massive investment in Green boondockery, new money for micro-nukes, (both meaning a transitioning to a zero fossil fuel economy), or in the existing natural gas fields in the North Sea.
If it’s the former she’s advocating the exact opposite of energy self-sufficiency, because the technologies and support for those generating platforms are heavily reliant on the PRC, and fossil fuels, so Russia bad, China good? Honestly, I think most of the current Euro ministers understanding, of how the world really works, is based on the thousands of hours they played on Civilisation, or similar PC games.
While listening to PM Fredericksen, I couldn’t help but to wonder if her thinly veiled complement of Trump wasn’t to stroke his ego in an attempt to dissuade him from pursuing Greenland.
Didn’t Michele glare at Obama when he was checking out that particular PM? Or, was it a different hot Danish PM?
If I recall, that may have been French President Sarkozy’s wife, Carla Bruni, that caused the sourpuss glare from Big M.
WHAT HAPPENED???
Something just happened that almost overnight all of these “leaders” promptly sit and wag their tails for Trump!
From Walz in MN, Carney and Sheinbaum, Rutte, and today this.
Was it horse heads? Sonic weapons?
An amazing site to behold!!
Maybe pigs flying?
They seem to have forgotten about the Muslim problem they have. Are they going to do all this just in time so the Muslims will benefit when they take over? Europe is quickly fading and they don’t seem to be aware of the problem.
Security is about more than just energy. Yes, energy is paramount (and the EU has blown it with respect to securing energy for their peoples) but also a society itself is paramount to a nation’s security and they have blown it there as well.
I stomached her comments. Thank you @Sundance for queuing her remarks! It really is amazing to hear her state the Trump Doctrine!
They’re dumb asses. Energy is fungible. Like salt doesn’t matter we’re it’s from it’s all the same. Oil is oil and natural gas is well natural gas. Import it from multitudes of sources and then back it it up with nuclear power if you don’t have access to your own hydrocarbon sources. Pretty damn simple.
I need to find a meme with President Trump as…Maximus Decimus Meridius spitting, throwing his sword and screaming “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!” It’s just perfect for these moments and many more…Glad President Trump is going old school on these pompous global elites…God Bless the USA!!!!
I listened.
She said Trump is right.
Funny how they all speak English.
Can I ask the stupid question of the week? A Manhattan project physicist once told me that there are no stupid questions. So here goes: why is a healthy Russia and a healthy Germany through Russian energy and German ingenuity a bad thing?
bad thing because politics is the ‘monkey wrench’ that’s inserted
It would be a great thing….. I had one of those Manhattan Projects as my college chemistry professor. Dr. Willard, great guy.
her distaste for what she has to say is so apparent on her face.
“We’re not going to be dependent on anyone!”
What she’s saying is that they’re going to triple down on renewables and exit the fossil fuel economy entirely. They’re NEVER going to give up that dream. You might as well ask them to cut off their own arm with a dull, rusted saw…
Somber indeed; more like a funeral. Copenhagen, 2010, Soetero at the helm; global warming was going to destroy the world. God has a sense of humor, it was -40 outside. These wordsmith’s and schisters are catatonic, entwined in their lies and false promises. Their end is near.
Great job President Trump!
Kill the new green scam!
I didn’t listen at all. I cannot get passed that Denmark was *sterilizing* (IUDs) young girls in the 1960s… The 1960s, modern times. WTF!!!
At the beginning she names dependence on Russian fossil fuels being a mistake. Sounds like a voice against fossil fuels, but no, it’s RUSSIA dependence that is the mistake. From then on, it’s all about energy (of no specific type) so fossil fuels might be back in as long as they’re not Russian. Masterful creation of an acceptable impression while avoiding both pretense and the underlying hot button message.
She just about quoted Pres Trump. Security is energy and energy is security.
Why do people continue to refer to oil as “fossil fuel”? It’s not made from fossils or dinosaurs or decaying trees.
Exactly, Trump was right.
“The German delegation at the UN General Assembly laughed at President Donald Trump on September 25, 2018, when he warned that “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course”.
“Prime Minister Fredericksen couldn’t quite bring herself to say Trump was right; however, the reality of her statement proved that President Donald Trump was right. Imagine that.”
Prime Minister Fredericksen couldn’t quite bring herself to say Trump was right; however, the reality of her statement sounded just like Donald Trump had prepared those words for her, or she borrowed from one of his speeches on the importance of energy independence . Imagine that.
She mouths the words that President Trump has said, but she acts like those words don’t taste very good coming out.
I can only imagine her searching for a trash can to retch in, somewhat like a college freshman at his first fraternity party, after she made her little speech.
EuroTrash Globalists are hilarious!
Sorority party unless she’s a he.
So they should learn to rely on themselves yet they’re going to partner with Germany for energy? If they don’t have capability of producing their own oil/gas what are they going to do for themselves? Rely on Germany? How about nuclear? Denmark is going to rely on Germany? Oh, I guess they’ll add more solar and windmills because that’s so successful.
There is no hope for these Euro idiots.
They needed President Trump to say it first, which gave them the courage to say it themselves. Thank you, dear President Trump, for dragging countries into reality. Thank you for doing the same for our USA as well. God bless us everyone (thanks, Tiny Tim).
