No safety, that button on the side is a slide release. It should take no more than a second to make a firearm like that safe — drop the magazine and pull the slide to the rear and it is clear. It is a nice firearm, carried by an idiot.

If the deceased had a permit to carry concealed or otherwise he could have avoided the escalation by not struggling and informing the officers, as he is obligated to do under law, that he was carrying a firearm. Different ending.
To legally carry a concealed weapon where permits are required one must also carry your ID and pistol permit on your person. The registration number on the gun and your name and address better match up on the permit, gun, and ID. He wasn’t carrying any ID or permit.
iowa you are required to carry permit and I.D. if your carrying but we don’t have to list firearm serial number.so you could carry different weapons or more then one.
In NYS, every pistol you own, make, model, serial number must be on that permit.
Depends on the State. To carry concealed you have to have your carry permit on you, which is likely also an okay ID in itself. I know I’ve pulled it out over the years instead of my Drivers Lic.
In some States the LTC is not tied to a specific gun.

You typically don’t confront already-embattled LEOs armed, absent extraordinary circumstances.
No “Duty to inform”, in MN, unless asked by LEO about it.

Were all of them Border Patrol or were there also ICE agents on scene? Regardless, the man who died got in the middle of an active law enforcement operation, whether he was “only” filming with his cell phone or was, as some reports have suggested “brandishing” a firearm (although this video does appear to indicate that his weapon was in its holster when he was taken to the ground). Either way, stay on the sidewalk and film to your heart’s content but when you insert yourself into a potentially dangerous situation, you should not be surprised when the people involved, who are doing a hard and dangerous job, do not respond well to your interference! They do not know your intentions and they would like to go home to their family at the end of their shift!

I do not know if the original reason for the 911 call (someone needing help), ever got addressed.

My question is WHO was the man in the grey jacket? He is dressed completely differently from everyone else so how would the BP agent know that he was another LEO? Maybe he saw someone come up and grab a gun from the guy on the ground, who then reacted when his gun was taken off of him and reached for an agent’s gun and THAT is when he got shot? Maybe the BP Agent was concerned that the guy in grey was another protestor or accomplice of the guy on the ground? The whole scene is very chaotic and everyone is so bundled up it is hard to know who is who…especially when there are different agents from different agencies who may not know everyone else!
