Germany has a severe electricity shortage and cost problem, and it’s getting worse.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently made the admission that shutting down the German nuclear power reactors was a “severe strategic mistake.”
“To have acceptable market prices for energy production again, we would have to permanently subsidize energy prices from the federal budget,” Merz said, adding: “We can’t do this in the long run.”
“So, we are now undertaking the most expensive energy transition in the entire world,” Merz said with pronounced frustration. “I know of no other country that makes things so expensive and difficult as Germany.”
Keep in mind, Germany represents the largest contributing economy in the European Union. The German industrial sector is the backbone of the European economic model.
All of these realities paint a very tenuous picture for the economic future in Europe, when combined with a new trade relationship with the USA, increasingly cheap goods dumped into the EU by China and the EU promising to continue spending on the war effort in Ukraine against Russia.
Energiewende is not just the most expensive “energy transition,” but there is no actual transition. There is no “there” there to transition to. Windmills are useless.
They provide zero dispatchable base-load power, they are insanely expensive to install and maintain but aren’t even worth the cost of the distribution lines to hook them up, and when they do get hooked up they dramatically unbalance electrical grids. Plus they will all be destroyed by the first big wind.
Solar has the same problems: non-dispatchable, unbalances electrical grids, gets wiped out by hailstorms, and is especially absurd for a country the latitude of Canada.
Germans are retarded. Flooding their country with people who want to kill them. Flushing their prosperity down the toilet to wage war against CO2, which is in desperately short supply.

I have a modest off grid solar power system set up at my house for backup power It will power 6 110v circuits. 2 circuits are dedicated to my well and the other 4 power some lights, outlets and refrigerator.
The sun was shining today and so I was using solar power, the sun is now low in the sky and so I have switched back to grid power.
If I had an off grid mini nuclear powered generator I wouldn’t have to worry about the sun setting.

Like I said, mine is a modest system. 1200 wt of solar panel and 730 amp hr of LiPo battery storage. I have it for when we lose power. If the power outage continues for more than a day, I have a gas powered generator that will plug into the sub panel that the solar system plugs into.
I do energize my system from time to time to make sure that all is good. With the sun shining in January, I want to make sure all is good for February.
OK. Seems like with the gas (gasoline?) powered gen set, you’re covered for as long as the gas supply lasts.
