Germany has a severe electricity shortage and cost problem, and it’s getting worse.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently made the admission that shutting down the German nuclear power reactors was a “severe strategic mistake.”
“To have acceptable market prices for energy production again, we would have to permanently subsidize energy prices from the federal budget,” Merz said, adding: “We can’t do this in the long run.”
“So, we are now undertaking the most expensive energy transition in the entire world,” Merz said with pronounced frustration. “I know of no other country that makes things so expensive and difficult as Germany.”
Keep in mind, Germany represents the largest contributing economy in the European Union. The German industrial sector is the backbone of the European economic model.
All of these realities paint a very tenuous picture for the economic future in Europe, when combined with a new trade relationship with the USA, increasingly cheap goods dumped into the EU by China and the EU promising to continue spending on the war effort in Ukraine against Russia.
The wind doesn’t always blow; the sun doesn’t always shine.
Germany shot themselves in the foot.
Green energy is dead. AI data centers need great amounts of electricity and the rich see is as both a means to get richer and to control the populace.
It’s always about money and control.
Always
💥💥The destruction of Nordstream 💥💥
Funny how the lack of acknowledgement
about that lack of cheap affordable energy
Germany had….is never discussed by Merz.
🤔 🤔
Watch Germany suddenly “discover” that the US took out Nordstream – though it said not a peep at the time – then place an entire army in Greenland, and then declare they’re coming to save Canada from the big bad Eagle.
I jest.
But not really.
Its almost as if Germany has been losing a secret war with the US for more than half a decade.
PDJT’s secret power? Making others take the masks off.
Remember, the Germans lost, but the Nazis won – and went transnational (Bush crime family, Operation Paperclip)
Data centers have killed electric cars. All the spare generating capacity that greens assumed would go to EVs has already been taken by data centers
I’ll gladly trade EV’s for funny cat videos. 😹
Not for everyone…I agree.
Here in AZ many new homes…and some renovations…
now have solar panels dedicated to charging stations in the garage.
With technology developing for 5 minute charging combined
with higher mileage per charge the appeal is growing here.
Return home after shopping -drive into garage plug in and before
vehicle unloaded from shopping-it’s charged! No hassles at
gas station. There are pros to owning.
Quite a few in my town…couple of Cybertrucks that have awesome
graphic wraps 😍 and regular EV are so quiet people couldn’t hear
them…so modifications were made to produce a low sound for safety.
Not for everyone, I don’t have one. But I definitely won’t bash anyone
here for having one!
I own a condo; but having a plug-in isn’t possible, because the vehicles must use assigned parking places. The assigned spots are far from condos. And renters are not an audience; because rental properties are not set up for EVs.
I like the tech. They can be blistering fast because of the torque. I’ve rented them before and they’re fun. But solar panels at home (the most efficient recharge option) are expensive and would take at least a decade to pay for themselves (in my use scenario). And if you want battery backup so you’re not reliant on the grid, that about doubles the cost of a system. And the payback timeline assumes they aren’t Chinese PV’s that die before the warranty goes out and that you don’t sell the house and move away. Most people don’t stay in a home past 10 years and moving your array would be extremely expensive and maybe leave behind a compromised roof that a new buyer wants you to replace. Fast charging is great, but repeatedly using those can degrade the car’s batteries. If you could snag a Tesla Model S with free lifetime charging (a promo they do from time to time) you’d start to have a fast, luxury car that was almost “free” to operate, but you’re still dealing with fast charging all the time at Telsa chargers. For me they just don’t make any sense. I need at least 350 miles of range for my commute and most don’t get that. And the safety issue is a non-starter. Can you imagine being stuck somewhere in an ice storm (like what happened in Texas several months ago)? No where to go, hours waiting for a space and then hours more to charge a nearly frozen battery. Or what if you get stuck downtown during an Antifa/BLM “peaceful” protest and you’re near empty. Or there’s a flash flood and your EV get’s water up to the door sills (the battery pack height). If you’re lucky enough that it doesn’t short out and start a fire with you in it, then months later seemingly out of nowhere the damage could start a fire that can’t be extinguished. Too many things that make them unreliable or unsafe IMHO. Maybe someday, but for now they just don’t make a lot of sense unless you have ideal conditions.
😂
“I’ll gladly trade EV’s for funny cat videos.”
Here you go then…

I’m crying laughing and I’ve seen it before.
🤪🤣😆
EVs suck anyway.
And just like that, the world will no longer end if we don’t buy their windmills, solar roofs and electric cars. Greta must be so relieved.
They’ve all done the math now, and discovered that an AI data center ‘s power consumption is equivalent to the total power generation of a nuclear power plant, so that each center requires its own nuclear power plant just to operate. There goes the green energy hoax.
And there it is… *centralized green energy* IS a hoax…
The key strength of “green” energy of all types (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.) is individual power generation – every place has its own power station and that eliminates the grid entirely; every building – homes, small businesses, corporations – simply generate their own power – from Nature – without a central grid to draw from.
Homes require small systems in comparison; see @4gypsybreeze comment above about the cars.
Corporations would behave much differently IF they each & all were 100% required to be self-contained and generate *all* their own power.
Trump has said he instructed the AI people to build their own… **because he knows** this.
Centralization of power is the most IN-efficient and UN-stable energy structure paradigm.
It applies to all Human endevours – think of systems of governments for one example.
Our Founding Fathers intended that the power rests with We The People as individuals, not somewhere else; *decentralization of power* was their full intent!
Decentralization is how “green”/natural energy (Nature) actually works efficiently; decentralization makes everything work smoother AND better in fact… money, food, supply chains… it’s elemental Permaculture Design Science principle.
Nature is an efficient, self-regenerating paradigm… Humans are part of Nature – the grievous mistake is to ignore Nature and believe we can conjure/ have conjured better systems;
“We cannot command Nature but by obeying her.” ~ Francis Bacon
“Never, no, never did nature say one thing and wisdom another.” ~ Edmund Burke
Permaculture Design Science is the paradigm of Nature applied deliberately to designing all systems Humans engage with.
“Permaculture ethics evolve. Beyond earth care and people care, the third ethic is about returning surplus to those first two principles.Energy audit is central. Systems should produce more energy than they consume and create surplus to maintain and enhance life systems.Sustainable consumption matters. Everything we consume should benefit the planet—consider production methods, transport, labor conditions, and ecological impact.Population and resource limits are interconnected. Wealth and access to resources influence fertility and consumption patterns naturally.Redefining true wealth. Clean air, water, nutrient-dense food, sensible housing, comfortable climate, and strong community form the foundation of abundance.Surplus must be used wisely. The goal is to return it to earth care and people care, amplifying the positive impact of human stewardship.”{
}
pretty concise example of an explanation – I have more in chart form but my archive is inaccessible at the moment…
this is an infinitely superior paradigm than the one we have imposed on us now.
Ridiculous!
From one hoax to the next.
If true, and I don’t doubt that it is, and I also find it rather amusing that the same powers to be that were pushing the green energy and man made climate change non-sense are all on team energy sucking data centers now, the death of the green energy hoax will be the ONLY positive from the advent of these data centers. Data centers will contribute greatly to our own demise.
AI will be another fad dumped into the dustbin of history in less than five years. It is all complete BS. I retired from 30+ years in IT 3 years ago. I started with mainframe 80 character punch cards (hanging chads, anyone?). I’ve had just about every job on IT there is. Computers don’t and can’t think on their own, they are not conscious, they have no cognitive ability; they do what they are programmed to do, nothing more. I’m almost as skeptical of AI as I was covid.

Too bad they didn’t aim a few feet higher…
Circular firing squad.
Ready, fire, aim.
Further confirm on left insanity. They scream about carbon emissions destroying life on earth, but then re the – non carbon emission – nuclear energy, they’re “er, no, we don’t want that either”
In Commiefornia, the betters don’t count hydro or nuclear power as “green”, and they’re in the warpath to remove critical dams.
Meanwhile, farmers are starved of water as the state has its fourth “wet drought” year.
The state routes billions of gallons of fresh water to the ocean to save the non-existent Delta smelt, while not refilling Central Valley aquifers.
And Lefties let seals roam the Delta and rivers, along with imported bass, wiping out salmon and anything in their path.
Enemy action
Oh, they shot themselves a lot higher than the foot!
The Germans were warned long before they destroyed any chance of recanting their god-like worship of Gaia.
Warned not once, but many times.
And on they marched, this once great European industrial powerhouse. No more…
Reprobate minds and strong delusions.
Marching Morons.
They’re good at marching and not asking questions I’ve heard.
Sieg Heil!
Pretty much, right after Merkel shut down the coal plants, Germany was hit with one of its coldest winters … her windmills were frozen solid and solar panels were covered with a foot of snow & ice.
The East German loon was forced to fire-up the coal plants, as her sheep-led-to-slaughter citizens we’re literally freezing to death in their own homes !!!
Almost as if they were being tapped on the shoulder (so to speak).
And again once they made sure their last nuclear plant was lying in the dust, this winter after their power grid was sabotaged by Euro Antifa.
Schäde nicht wahr?
Face. You meant face.
Can’t wait till they have some time to reflect on their immigration policies.
Looks like the smirks are wearing off.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.
Exactly!!!
Liberals, socialists, progressives, marxists, fascists & democrats ALWAYS believe the Communist promise:
“it will work this time” .
Or as Obama said: “we are the people you’ve been waiting for”.
LOL!!! It is impossible to fix stupid.
Theirs… but not off the faces of the “new” Germans.
The face you make when you realize your minimum energy needs are greater than your clean-green energy production.
Or the blown up Nordstream pipeline 💥💥
Germany cheap -affordable -reliable energy source ….gone.
🤷♀️
The irony is the main NATO country, the good old USA, alleged benefactor and ally of Germany, blew it up! Talk about “severing” relations with Russia!
Everyone is sniveling that Europe doesn’t pay their fair share into NATO.
Totaling the losses of the value of Nordstream, the losses to bankrupting industry along with the increased costs of American LNG that America caused, is Europe even?
Greenlanders need to stand firm. Never trust anyone in Washington, they all speak with forked serpent tongues.
What are the chances that China is Johnny On The Spot with a Reactors R Us solution for Germany, since they have been emasculated by Trump just like CANADUH and would love to “show HIM”……?
As for our Fearless Leader…..I wonder if he knows :

So Fred Merz has realized the sky isn’t falling and the emperor has no clothes and he now needs a pied piper.
And they think keeping a war going is a smart thing?
Yup.
That happens when you’re about to be hung by the people.
Euros on twitter spazzing about gearing up for war over Greenland. They hate being reminded that they’re so stupid and unimportant they had to reschedule the G7 because we’re having UFC fights that weekend. Seriously they sent like 20 soldiers to Greenland gimme a break.
Germany go along attitude with the EU
and their governments support of Ukraine….
giving money and arms—losing their only supply
of cheap, affordable and reliable energy-Nordstream 💥
You would think more Germans would be getting a clue….
Get out of EU!!
Germany voted itself in the EU, it will not be voting its way out of it.
Agree!
I saw where Keir Starmer has given EU control

if I am not mistaken…including steel.
UK is now following EU “guidelines “. And talks ongoing

EU facial recognition technology
Frightening when you think about the unelected

Blackrock Merz running Germany..that is awful on its own.

Well … in fairness, I think Greenland only has 2 maybe 3 dog-sleds for the Euros to use.
Can you imagine, being one of the lucky 20 ?🤣 WTF did I do ???
France will surrender on their behalf. After the Dana White Show of course.
Germany sent a total of 13 soldiers, and they had to hitch a ride on a Danish C-130 to get to Greenland.
France sent more than any other country; 15
The UK, Sweden, Norway and The Netherlands added another 7 total between all four countries.
They are only going to stay on ground in Greenland for a few days.
The entire exercise is a pathetic joke. It’s a demonstration of weakness and incapacity.
My TESLA is made entirely from or with crude oil so I can keep drilling oil wells and that’s a good thing.

No more Gasoline powered Mercedes

The Tesla Cyber Truck! Have you seen the videos of
people shooting at them—the bullets don’t penetrate!😳
A lot of houses in AZ are being built with solar panels
that go to dedicated charging stations for electric vehicles
in their garages. Some people are renovating to put them in.
And with technology being already developed….5 minutes
for charging.
Pull into garage plug it in, and before you are done unloading
groceries it’s all charged up! And the miles per charge is increasing
all the time.
Not for all places due to weather…but the pros for some parts of
the country— I can understand the appeal.
I don’t own one…but see quite a few in my town. Couple of Cybertrucks
have wraps on them that are beautiful!
I think it’s great. I like solar power used by individual houses, but not giant solar arrays. I don’t see solar or wind power being cost effective (or even really green) as a replacement for other types of generation, but I do see both as useful supplemental power sources for individual dwellings.
I saw my first red cybertruck this afternoon on I-20.
I thought they only came in stainless steel lol
The aesthetic has always been sadly lacking.
Maybe Elon can do better than an eight year old boy’s Transformers and Giant Robots fantasy car.
Elevate to beauty?
Same for me the other day…
It’s hideous!!!!
They do only come in stainless steel, but many owners then put a $5,000 wrap on them.
Not exactly.
Average solar panels produce 375 Watts , each. A Tesla Wall Connector charger draws 11,500 watts. That means at least 28 dedicated solar panels to equal the capacity of a Level 2 charger, or a dedicated breaker of 240 vac at 48 amps. Level 2 Tesla charger will add between 9 and 52 miles of range per hour and take between 6 and 30 hours to charge completely.
Level 3 chargers are Tesla’s Supercharger stations. These charge at 480 volts and at 300 amps, or 250 KW. The fastest superchargers add around 200 miles of range in 15 minutes, and standard superchargers add 170 miles in around 30 minutes.
There is no currently available “5 minute charge” battery, and even if there was, the power draw to feed the charger would be enormous; on the order of 830 KW, or equal to about 2200 solar panels, or a 240 volt power supply at 3450 amps, single phase, or 480 volt 3 phase at 1000 amps. That is Industrial Park Power level stuff.
Can’t cheat the physics.
It was NOT a mistake. He realizes if the entire world isn’t on a suicide mission it’s not doable. And also, this means they can’t outlast/wait out, Trump.
He now realizes Germany has to make it through the Trump/Vance/Rubio Presidencies before they can implement their suicidal policies.
German chancellor Mertz doesn’t mind because he doesn’t have to suffer like the peasants have to.
Well the American taxpayer sends Germany foreign aid. We try to help.
For some reason we taxpayers send money to our enemies too. I don’t agree with it. But we do. Looks like every year.

Activism will screw you over every time.
not always.
Unselfish, well thought through, to productively and legally help we the people, is good activism.
( the media does not give that much attention )
Germans haven’t screwed up this bad since Ardennes.
Haha….I like the way you think…! I see you an Ardennes, and raise you a Stalingrad….!
The phase out of nuclear cost 81 Billion to shut it all down.. Talk about insanity. A good example of why socialism never works. The socialists do things against all economic sense and think it will work. It doesn’t work and then they have to take more of the people’s money. They finally run out of other people’s money.
And, the cost to start it back up (after years of being idle etc.) ?
Here’s SOME Of the numbers that are Being Talked About –
https://www.power-eng.com/nuclear/the-palisades-nuclear-plant-is-one-step-closer-to-restarting-thanks-to-56m-from-the-doe/
https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/04/03/1090603/how-to-reopen-a-nuclear-power-plant/
Any chance to restart old plants?
Depends on how they shut it down. It’s not like switching a light switch. All the systems degrade without constant maintenance and are often stripped of a lot of the supporting components in the shut down.
I have heard more than once that it’s actually easier to build a new plant than to recommission one that’s been shut down.
The only reason a few of ours are able to be recommissioned is because the owners actually kept up on maintenance in the expectation they might need to be restarted and even then it’s going to take over a billion dollars esch and several years just to get one producing power again.
Basically, even with unlimited funds Germany will needs the better part of a decade to reverse its nuclear stupidity.
EDIT: Nevermind. I read below they imploded the cooling towers and filled the pipes with concrete.
They’ll have to build new, a process which will take decades and more money than they could print to recover.
Stick a fork in them; they’re done.
My wife grew up in a small community close to Schweinfurt (Jan 43′-2 major bearing factories severely bombed) that HAD a nuclear plant just across the Rhein on the east side of the city. Somewhere around 3 years ago, she showed me the video her sister took when they imploded the two cooling towers-that had safely provided power to the city and the SKF and KugelfischerSachs industries within Schweinfurt for 45 years. I was speechless.
Looks like they demolished them 💥💥
No.
Germany did controlled demolition of the cooling towers and plants. Videos on YouTube.
“I know of no other country that makes things so difficult and expensive as Germany..”
Can you say ‘NORD STREAM’ Friedrich?? .. I knew you couldn’t you fart sniffing git!
are the Deutscheren not able to restart reactors by flipping switch?
They actually imploded the cooling towers….. LOL.
AND they filled all the pipes with concrete.
That shutdown was intended to be permanent.
Or was it France that did that?
What difference does it make, they are all on the same sheet of music.
I think France still generates much of its electricity with nuclear plants.
Yes. And is actively researching fusion reactors.
Most of those efforts are going to be white elephants as physics is uncompromising.
Short of superconductors that don’t require cryogenic cooling (unobtanium), mitigating or eliminating neutron flux entirely, solving the “ash” problem, etc. There are a lot of difficult technical problems to overcome.
Wow, that truly makes them not just retarded, but Uber-retarded.
Nuckin futz
Wow, who’d have thought that access to Energy would be an economic necessity or even a national security issue?
I wander ..if doctor put him(worst Chancellor since 1949)..on detox……suddenly he admit true ….
Sejmon….
There is a reason that even before he was elected,
his nickname was— Blackrock Merz.
He doesn’t care about the German people.
He is owned by the banksters.
very true
Very rare for any politician in the world to admit to any mistakes by them or theirs.
It’s only because be does not his head being displayed at the tip of a pike.
Surely the EU wants Merz to protect all eu countries in . He’s great in decisions. Germany doesn’t have the military for it, and EU have likened to Nazi Germany and they don’t trust Merz in times of war with Russia
The nuclear plants have been defueled, key safety systems dismantled, and components degraded. Reactivation would require billions in investment, new regulatory approvals, and extensive safety reviews. Large portions of Germany’s public is against nuclear.
Germany is screwed.
“Large portions of Germany’s public is against nuclear.”
And, apparently, economic survival.
Educated idiots. How many tsunamis hit Germany every decade?
Pay me now, or pay me later.
As my father used to say “Overeducated idiots.”
I would think the largest portion of the Germans would prefer Nuclear power over no electricity at all.
Most likely their corrupt politicians and media painted the picture the majority of Germans are against it when in reality they’re not.
They’re corrupt politicians and media is no different than ours.
They’ll be cutting down more forests for fuel next winter.
The Germans self-loathing post WWII is complete.
You see it in EVERYTHING they do…and don’t do, like having little Germans.
The only thing they properly screw is themselves.
Mutti Merkel used Fukushima to justify shutting down all of Germany’s nuclear plants. Utterly ridiculous when you think about it, because none of their reactors were in the tiniest bit vulnerable to earthquakes or tsunamis, and certainly not of the kind that affected Fukushima. But it sure did help them move forward with their climate project. The reign of East German Merkel was an absolute disaster for Germany and Europe in many ways.
And Syrians.
I remember POTUS referring to Small Nuclear Reactors (SMRs).
So fyi:
https://www.energy.gov/ne/advanced-small-modular-reactors-smrs
I’d laugh if they were buying SMRs from the US in a decade.
They would probably order from Temu.
Then they will get what they pay for.
Caveat Emptor.
Complete and utter imbecile.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Just a few months ago I believe I read that they completely leveled a brand new, never commissioned NUCLEAR POWER PLANT specifically as an outward sign of their full unshakable belief in GREEN ENERGY. The staggering numbers ascribed to the loss were about a BIILION EUROS? Somebody else…chase that down…I read it from Eugiliius (?) a very fine conservative German blogger!
Sundance was right again. Elites gonna elite.
“Hi, this is Jim Rockford. Consult your doctor before listening to the LEFT, as it can lead to recurring severe strategic mistakes, at the tone, leave your name and message. I’ll get back to you”
As for Germany’s industrial base, it takes a lifetime to build a reputation that can be destroyed overnight. Mercedes and BMW for example are no longer the excellent engineered cars they used to be. They are ‘designer’ junk living off past reputation.
Scotty Kilmer on YouTube ranked the EU cars, said Mercedes might work if you’re a doctor with a Lease.
Volvo ranked #1, but now they’re supposedly going 100% electric? P.S. Owned by the Chinese.
We saved Europe from self destruction twice.
it is obvious they didn’t appreciate it.
Let them wither in the vine this time.
Let them bend their weak knees to. RUSSIA,china and India.
It a good look for weaklings.
Tells their masters they are capitulating.
Remember when Trump pushed these EU leaders aside during his first engagement with them.
I do ,it was a beautiful thing.
Soon they are going to wish they could get in the good graces of Trump .
No chance , too late losers.
I’m buying extra popcorn for the Davos meeting.
Oh yeah!
Nah!!! Come on man!! You tripping me….
Sorry CCV….found in the bin. 🙁
Can’t wait to buy a Mercedes for fire sale prices when they get desperate! And the Sprinter vans are made here now. Win Win.
Then wait until you have to have it serviced….good thing you saved all that 💰……
“No scheiße Sherlock!”
What ignoramuses!
Having briefly been involved in politics, I was made aware that politics attracts a certain kind of person that I find very distasteful and loathsome. Arrogance and ignorance combined, which essentially warrants defenestration.
The Dumbest people running these countries have never traded for a living, they think the policies are the answer to everything but, in the end, the Fee Markets rule the day.
Real world experience in finance and economics is who I want replacing even our morons.
Wait till Europe places Capital controls on their people through investments. I hope people can understand when I’ve said many time on here in past comments that the Capital will flow this way, especially with President Trump who moves at lightning speed. Our politicians are not and have never been, used to this. Lolololol.
Stocks to the moon?
Twenty thousand millionaires left the UK last year?
Except for the grift part of things!
A few winters of expensive and scarce electricity may convince ordinary Germans that the Greenies are not their friends. It may even garner more support for AfD. Who knows — it might also deter German politicians from their need to rattle sabres at Russia.
When the Germans come out the other side of this “severe strategic mistake,” they will have the most modern fleet of nuclear power plants in the world.
OldDog: “When the Germans come out the other side of this “severe strategic mistake,” they will have the most modern fleet of nuclear power plants in the world.”
Not a chance. Replacing the nuclear plants closed down will cost possibly ten times in real Deutschmarks what the shuttered plants originally cost. It’s not going to happen. Energy idiots that they are, the Germans made their bed and now they have to lie in it. Germany will be an energy constrained nation decades into the future.
Not if the Caliphate has anything to say about it.
All those refugee nuclear engineers will do a fine job running any ‘nucular’ plants.
No tears…
Another dead body as a result of leftist policies…
What a Dummkopf!
Gigantic mistake. Over educated, and overly confident.
That was no mistake.
The source of reliable, safe, and affordable energy was deliberately destroyed KNOWING that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to replace the lost generation capacity.
HEADS SHOULD ROLL
Little beanie hats with propellors.
Could they generate enough energy if everyone wore one?
That’ll work, but I am a firm believer that responsible power generation should wholly and only be derived from Unicorn Farts and Magical Fairy Dust fuel sources.
So he admits what the world already knows….he is an idiot.
I don’t think Merz was in favor of shutting down the power plants. In fact, last year he referred to the greens as ‘lunatics.’
He may be on the wrong side of the Ukraine war, but scuttling the energy plants was not his idea.
Germany’s energy situation is a cautionary tale for us — what happens when the lunatics get too much influence.
We are not immune.
The Law of Unintended Consequences strikes again.
The so called “ leaders “ of the west are the most pathetic, ignorant, foolish, moronic and morally corrupt people.
Mere puppets that are little more than parasites that destroy everything they touch.
We told you so.
“So, we are now undertaking the most expensive energy transition in the entire world,” Merz said with pronounced frustration. “I know of no other country that makes things so expensive and difficult as Germany.”
In the 1980’s fantasy classic, “Time Bandits”, the bad guy (Evil) describes the dwarves as “Blissfully free of the ravages of intelligence.”
This quoted segment from Merz shows a staggering lack of self awareness to the point where his intelligence can only be measured on two vectors:
– total stupidity
– absolute malevolence
There’s blinded by ideology…then there’s whatever this is.
We should on some level be glad that Germany no longer produces the kind of men they used to create. The kind who would have quickly seized power and killed the likes of Merz.
Stupid, stupid people. I saw a clip of a Canadian young man whaling about how much he spent on 1 gallon of milk and 2 boxes of cereal. About 30 Canadian dollars. You can explain it to them but you can’t make them understand it.
re: nuclear energy, all of the above energy options,
while understanding the pros and cons of each on a case by case evaluation.
If some people recall,
after 3 mile island nuclear spill in the U.S.,
the U.S. bureaucratic red tape became almost radioactive
regarding building new nuclear power plants.
[ but nuclear power submarines and ships was relatively o.k. – not near a population.
It helps that those ships have had a steady record of reliability- for years. ]
So,
it has not just been Germany miss leaders that became shy of nuclear for awhile, a long while.
Re: 3 mile island, nuclear reactor in Pennsylvania
One of the 2 reactors had a meltdown on March 28, 1979
https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/fact-sheets/3mile-isle
U.S. development – and permitting – of nuclear power plants slowed down -for decades – after that event.
From 1979 through 1988, 67 planned nuclear power plant builds were canceled.
