Previously, overnight Saturday/Sunday police arrested a man named Benjamin Erickson (24) as the suspect {link} in the Brown University attack that left two people killed and nine injured. At the time of the detainment Providence’s police chief, Col. Oscar Perez, told media, “Police are confident the man in custody is the suspected gunman.” {link] He added he wanted to ensure that all legal requirements are met before charges are brought.
According to media reports, “the man had a unique characteristic on his firearm, the officials said, and that firearm was found when he was taken into custody.” {link}
“We’re going to work with the attorney general’s office to make sure that we have the right legal requirements for the charges,” Perez said. “And this is, it’s just complex. There’s a lot of evidence, there’s a lot of witnesses, and so we have to make sure that we have it all tight. And to make sure we have a good case.” Perez said police cannot hold the person of interest beyond tomorrow (Sunday) if charges are not filed. I know my grandkids are applying to different ones based on their planned majors, but these “prestigious” colleges are nothing but high priced brain washing facilities. My wife took an adult math refresher course some years ago at a community college in the suburbs of Seattle. A family member was getting her teaching credential at Cal State Bakersfield several years ago. I mean right in the middle of Conservative California, right? During my Masters Degree work at Duquesne Univ (Pittsburgh) halfway through my courses I had to write a final paper for some class (sorry, I don;t remember it.)

Has one ever asked “why one lives in a world where reality seems at odds with itself”?
I read a book in 2007, a book that I occasionally pick up and re-read parts of.
The book is called “The Child Within Us Lives” by a US Captain in WW2 and the Korean war.
Its his story of being a US Army soldier, a Captain leading a Platoon in 2 wars, WW2 and the Korean war. He was witness to things of one’s worst nightmares, he at one point was fighting to kill the very Chinese soldiers that he himself had trained in the previous war, can you imagine that.
His story is one of Understanding the point and place of why “we” live this experience in a body through the illusion of time/space. In his years as a soldier in WW2 he had a Buddhist teacher in China that showed him the Beauty of Life’s Experience in and on the battlefield. He had a very gentle Soul, one that resonated with me, as I came to find I could always call on his inspiration to show me the way forward in the most traumatic of times. He would answer, not in words but in a Wisdom that would allow me to See the lesson that the finite world was showing me and put it into Concrete Action.
A lot has happened since WW2; political correctness a “marxist ideology” has engulfed the western world, where now idiocy is accepted as normalcy, where killing another is accepted as benevolent and on and on.
A teacher once told me, “first thing in the morning get oneself grounded in Truth before one faces one’s world”.
Slowly, but slowly one must stay with this, as correcting one’s own view of reality will eventually seep out as a Greater Good.

Of course, they detained the wrong person; you can’t delay, establish a first false narrative (one that usually sticks with the public), and then run cover for motive and the killer if you detain the right person right off the bat.

They detained the wrong person, were overzealous, and released his name in an attempt to frame the narrative. As a result, they had to release him because it wasn’t him. They rounded up a white guy with too strong an alibi.
Your point about the corrupted system is valid; however, in this instance, he was released because he was the wrong guy. The locals wanted it to be a gun-toting white guy, so they arrested the first one in the area, and now they have no leads.
It’s almost as if the local LEOs, Judges, mayor, and Governor want the killer to get free because of the targets, which frames your point nicely. And, it was a girl from Alabama, so the RI liberals will put on a bunch of pretending while “no progress” is ever made.

If an AG’s office did not force all hands on deck to force some charges through on a Sunday afternoon, the Feds would have. And if for some reason they did not, there would be national outrage about how the victims were being discriminated against.
I am not suggesting pressing charges would have been appropriate in Rhode Island, but I am suggesting Providence officials are signalling that, while they are not dropping the investigation, they are not acing with the urgency they would if the victims were a different sort of minority. Perhaps that is not accurate, but nonetheless that is the tone they are setting. That tone is reinforcing the perception that some victims are more important than others, that some crimes are less important than others, and that some political violence-including murder- carries less risk of prosecution.
I acknowledge it is entirely possible there is additional information, such as knowledge of an interpersonal relationship between one of the victims and the shooter, which might explain these statements. However, given how the investigation has progressed so far this seems unlikely.
The implied message I’m hearing is: “Yes, there is a mass killer on the loose. But don’t worry, he’s only interested in killing conservatives. We’ll get around to finding him eventually.” What kind of message does that send to potential killers? What kind of reaction would there be if the message instead was “Yes, there is a mass killer on the loose. But don’t worry, he’s only interested in killing gay black men. We’ll get around to finding him eventually.”
Very good points, and thanks for the extra clarity in your comment. In addition to your points, the money aspect is at play here. Children of very wealthy and prestigious people attend Brown. At least 90 percent are liberal, mostly from very liberal families. These families pay top dollar to ensure that information is held close and only shared with those who have paid appropriately for it. It’s one of the reasons I believe they are keeping the Feds out.
