It certainly isn’t any more perfidious in its behavior than, say, the U.K. But that doesn’t make it more trustworthy either. It will act in what it sees as its own interest.

I find it hard to believe that Tucker would go out of his way to praise Qatar at the level and frequency he does because he sincerely believes they’re a solid, honest country not getting a fair shake. Maybe he’s being honest to a degree, but I remember when his advocacy for Qatar first began, and it sure felt weird. I’m sure he’d have an explanation, but it seemed to come out of nowhere, and he’d insert the most random pro-Qatar quips (that was maybe two years ago; I haven’t paid as much attention to him of late). I’m sure some see it differently, but some kind of quid pro quo makes a lot more sense than a legitimate interest in Qatar.
I’ve been there, and there is little to love about the place or the people. Most of the work is done by third country nationals – basically indentured servants who, if they’re lucky, will earn limited rights and autonomy as permanent residents. The citizens live high on the hog off oil money (actually, diseases of excess like obesity and diabetes are rampant) – which is no harm to us per se, but they seem only interested in supporting American interests when it grossly profits them, while they support all kinds of unsavory radicals to the extent they can get away with it. It seems pretty clear to me the latter group is where their true leanings lie. People will cite the joint base there, but it’s only there because it’s a tremendous cash cow. I’m not sure if this is still the case, but they used to charge per head for aircrews to go through customs – every. single. mission. Whether they landed somewhere else or not. It was the price we paid in order to sustain the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – not that I’m suggesting that was worth it. I definitely wasn’t in the most neutral position in the interactions I had with Qataris, but even that considered, I came away singularly unimpressed. Many of the non-citizens – the people who ran the shops and restaurants – loved Americans, but I got the sense that could be said of precious few citizens.
Ultimately, I wish we’d just leave Qatar alone, and that they’d do the same in return. It’s clear more than a few conservative pundits and news outlets benefit from advocacy for the state of Israel. But disapproval of that doesn’t make taking the opposition’s money or favors the right thing to do. The whole landscape is so muddied – between those unable to separate Biblical Israel from the modern (entirely fallible) state, or who maybe stand to benefit from said state, and the age-old antisemites using these topics to worm their tentacles in. Many conservative commentators are falling for that subtle leading on (not necessarily Tucker, although I’m not sure where his head is at). Anyway, to bring this all back together, I think Tucker would have us cement Qatar as a key ally in the region – and maybe he stands to profit, maybe he’s in earnest – but I say they’re a snake. Maybe not one we need to avoid at all costs, but one we need be no more friendly with than they are with us.
The idea of “avoid foreign entanglements” should apply equally to them as well as to all other countries.
It does not have to be a choice between love ’em or hate ’em. We are not forced into that binary choice for any country we deal with.

I have extended family through marriage, both in Israel and in Qatar (and of course here in the United States). These people living in Israel and in Qatar are “normal” people, in the sense that they love their families, their modest homes and business enterprises.
We are the kind of people who are considered expendable “collateral damage” by the warmonger governing mafiosi. Our political elites are in too many cases bloodthirsty, insanely greedy people who will someday look at their destructive behaviors and decisions when they die to the physical world. But meanwhile we suffer for their influence, from Bioweapons to foreign policies.

I agree. Islam is fundamentally incompatible with the United States Constitution because it is a totalitarian ideology that does not tolerate any separation between church and state and also does not recognize freedom of conscience (which is really just a secularization of the Christian concept of free will).
As such, no devout Muslim can honestly promise to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, which includes many principles that are in fundamental conflict with Islam.
Therefore, immigration by Muslims was appropriately barred in the past and should be barred now, just as we should bar immigration from devout Communists and committed National Socialists.
This does not mean any American citizen is barred from practicing Islam if they choose. It just means we don’t invite in people who want to burn down our Western Civilization, Christian values house.
