In a series of statements from his Truth Social account, President Trump is recommending that congress bypass the subsides for insurance companies and instead send the funds directly to the healthcare consumers who can negotiate with their healthcare providers.

Conmunist Racist Democrat splodey heads incoming. Lol
“SAY IT! SAY IT!!!”
It does seem to have been the model for that disaster of a building design.
These might be my favorite posts President Trump has ever done.
MAGA!
Sen Scott already drafting legislation for this per his tweet today.
Scott used to run a medical system. He should know medical economics.
He was the CEO of Columbia Hospital Corporation in Florida. He left under somewhat shady circumstances as the company had to reimburse Medicare for over $700 million in over charges/billing errors. However, he left 5 years before the final settlement with Medicare was resolved thus salvaging his reputation, which allowed him to run for Governor and Senator from Florida.
Yep. Out of four siblings I have two left who live in Florida. They are still very PO’d over Scott and how he was never charged with a crime re his Medicare fraud. Last weekend they told me he was the LAST holdout on the vote to stay on Standard Time.
His time will come. It always does.
Yep. His policies with healthcare caused egregious harm to some. I know longer remember the details but it was some kind of temporary trial in some locations.
I don’t think so. Scott is invested up to his eyeballs in this scam. Would love to know what his financial disclosure shows re his income.
Another inside trader.
Makes too much sense.
It makes too much sense and essentially flips off some of the biggest offenders. Which is why Congress will not touch it with a 10 foot pole, with the obvious impacts on donor money into their pockets.
Yea…my thoughts exactly RFB
PDJT will then need to call out these RINOS 24/7.
He has a bully pulpit and knows how to use it. They all will get their turns for one thing or another.
We can always help out PDJT by telling our Congressmen and Senators that we are behind the President on this topic 100%. It’s time Obamacare is trashed–it has ruined healthcare in the country.
It’s time Congress wrote legislation that actually helped the people, rather than the big corporations.
Or their campaign ‘war chests’.
What annoyed me was when I was calling various members of Congress at one time and their answering machine message indicated that if you were NOT a constituent calling the office, then please call whomever represents you –
yet, a Congressional representative from out of my district could be causing harm to me and other people from other districts by the stupid way they vote or don’t vote or generally mess up our lives across the fruited plain!
Mitch McConnell-I tried.
He’s starting the troll to end Obamacare!
Perhaps his goal is to cut Obamacare if it cannot be eliminated.
Yes he is Monticello.
President Trump is correct.
I first heard that remark from Joe Dan Gorman on Intellectual Froglegs
https://www.linkedin.com/in/joedanmedia#overlay_profile-image-modal
Just a little humor from Joe Dan.
President Trump is strategically allowing Obamacare to collapse under its own weight by withholding funding. Once it crumbles, we can return to a health insurance system where companies compete fiercely for customers, driving down costs and improving choices.
It’s crazy enough with them begging for my Medicare advantage business. The pitches never end especially Oct-Dec.
The government (read: taxpayer) pays the insurance companies to cover people for Medicare. If an individual doesn’t want to be covered by a “free” Medicare advantage plan, he or she must pay the government for Medicare.
The more one’s income, the more one has to pay the government, including a punitive fee imposed by Obamacare to the tune of hundreds of dollars a year to the government, on top of having to pay an evil insurance company for drug coverage, on people who are above a certain income. And woe to the person who does not purchase a drug plan if he doesn’t need one upon reaching 65–he will be punitively fined until death if he ever does purchase one–the longer he waits, the more the fine.
It’s all a big racket, wherein the insurance companies and Congress scratch one another’s backs while crushing American citizens by forcing us to foot the bill.
Correction – I have a Medicare advantage plan and I still have to pay for Medicare – $185 per month – everybody does except those who are are on Medicaid, they are reimbursed and get all other kinds of perks – the grift never ends if you can hide income or live in a situation where you dont need much income!
I did not know that. I was told otherwise, and I did not select an advantage plan–heard too many nightmare stories about them. Nevertheless, the whole thing is a grift.
Nauseating, aren’t they!
The government should have not stuck their hands into dictating what’s in the peoples best interests concerning their own health, like they used to do before the nightmare of Obama care began.
As one of the republican senators stated, they’re really solving nothing at all, all they’re doing is attempting at offering an alternative version of Obama Care.
In reality it’s all illegal under constitutional law. Needs to be taken back to court. Hopefully this is a step towards taking it back to court

thats when the assclown roberts stepped up with his pants down around his ankles and declared it a tax. he still needs to face justice for that wicked and evil outcome.
Health care competition. “I’m sorry, you’re sick, but we won’t cover that.”
Then get rid of the corporatism in the hospital systems…and other work environments & give more opportunity to employ people- with good benefits as a perk.
yes. the dirty little secret of business is that it hates competion.
I would go one step further and suggest that consumers put the money directly into HSA accounts, then pay medical bills directly and bypass the insurance con completely.
You know this Dude, aka President Donald J. Trump, has just suggested eliminating the very thing that lefties assassinated a health care CEO for.
Is this a Major Dude or what?
Any fan if early Steeley Dan will tell you!
No doubt, a very major dude.
No static at all! 😉
That is a good idea.
Before obumbler care my single coverage was employer paid & far superior to what I get today @ $1500/mo.
I hope CONgress is listening but hope isn’t a plan.
Pathetic, they don’t come up with any such idea(s) themselves. President Trump has to do all the thinking for them, and even then, people like Rand Paul vote no, without ever offering up a better plan.
They don’t want to change it. They’re in bed with the insurance companies at our expense.
Ain’t it the truth!
Congress doesn’t write the laws. K street representatives of lobbyists write the laws and “sell” them to Congresscritters to vote on for “indulgences”
A while back, Sundance did a nice expose on this.
That’s why we dropped our insurance many years ago and joined a health sharing co-op. The last straw was when a family member needed an MRI and the insurance company denied it, even though we were going to pay for it because the ridiculous deductible was so high. They never wanted us to reach our deductible because they just wanted to collect money and never pay for anything.
Now we’re on Medicare and being robbed by the government because we don’t want a “free” medicare advantage plan where we have to get approval for everything and are restricted to a network.
actions speak louder than RINO talk.
an artful way to eviscerate ocare.
kudos, Mr. President!
i’m for it. 👍🏻
Why should Govt subsidize healthcare at all?
Which is really one healthy taxpayer paying for the healthcare services of an unhealthy, maybe taxpayer.
that’s why they had to pass the bill in order to read what was in it – “healthcare” lobbyists wrote it
IMO, UrkelCare had nothing to do with health care, and everything to do with forcing people to pay for any leftist ill they could dream up.
Sex change care and surgery, repeated drug addiction care, etc. All exploded as soon as UrkelCare was passed.
And billions flowed to whoever set up to provide this “care” the fastest.
That is exactly why health care is so expensive. They cover everything and cannot charge more for people who make unhealthy lifestyle choices.
The entire objective was to have abortions paid for by taxpayers or covered by employers’ insurance plans.
Seems like a good idea, but what will probably happen is that the recipients will spend the money on other things and still not have health care. It will then become a base line Democrat entitlement program and they will find the need to add another health care subsidy on top of the money sent.
Many here will say “cash money will not be sent” only vouchers. …. Until the next liberal administration changes it in order to destroy and expand the redistribution.
Health savings accounts.
Apparent the proposal is for health savings accounts. You can’t just spend that money on anything it must medically approved.
HSA
exactly. lost in all the hubbub, is that insurance is a form of gambling and you’re betting against yourself, but doing everything you can to lose the bet.
Great idea! Like HSA started up by money directly to the people instead of the insurance companies!
another Democrat slush fund down the drain (I hope!)
Uniparty slush fund…I’m thinking. Thus, prepare for pushback or doing nothing — basically the same thing.
A long time ago I asked a doctors office for a price list.
They didn’t have one. There were different prices for each insurance company. Each was the result of lengthy negotiations. They said some benefited Doctors and some benefited Insurers but this washed out on average.
There was no price list for customers.
Every now and then I hear somebody bragging about paying doctors. Lucky dogs.
Yes, and when a patient pays the bill himself, not through insurance, the bill is usually substantially less!
It should be less – no govt designed paperwork.
half or less. you can easily save enough to pay medical bills that you would otherwise fork over to insurance cos. insurance is a ponzi scheme for lifes losers.
Happened to me about four months ago. Was referred to a specialist who announced, without first reviewing my medical records, you’re a great candidate for xx! Well, xx must be injected without fail every six months, for the rest of one’s life. The consequences of missing a dose border on catastrophic.
Asked about the cost of these injections. “You’ll have to talk to our billing department.” The billing department referred me to the “dispensary.” The dispensary refused to provide a straight answer. “It depends on what insurance you have, and what your deductible is.” I provided the insurer’s name and my remaining deductible for this calendar year. They still would not give me the price of the drug!! “We’ll bill your insurance company. Whatever they don’t pay will be your responsibility.”
Because the drug was not a life-saver, I passed on getting it. I also cancelled any future appointments with the specialist.
The Cow Analogy in 4 scenarios,
You, own Two cows.
SN1, The socialist takes one of your cows and gives it to someone who doesn’t have cow
SN2, The communist takes both your cows and provides the milk back to you
SN3, The Fascist takes both your cows and sells the milk back to you
SN4, The capitalist sells one cow and buys a Bull
President Trump, Really? You think this society we live in today will actually buy their own healthcare? NYC is a wake up call, even if it fails, it will, but that’s not my point.
Cutting out the middleman is rarely popular with middlemen.
EXACTLY right, every step of the way.
the only reason congress doesn’t want to do away with ocare
is so that they can keep their sticky fingers in it.
Remember Biden’s mic drop “an effing big deal” when OBominableCare passed? Drug companies. Patients, you have to sign up first to find out what’s in it.
Politicians’ fingers pushing/mandating AbominableCare have since been in the pharmaceutical companies’ pots. With costs soaring since out of control with medical institutions also in the pharmaceutical companies’ pots.
No price lists for visits and scheduled procedures.
Bills and statements are tallied under :
This was paid for by Medicare, e.g. tests
Insurance company paid this, e.g. scans
Patient liable/pay for this, e.g. procedures, medications out of pocket (costs for which increased every year, at least once).
One does not have to be sick – dental care practices are dubious too. While always expensive, are way overpriced and sometimes surprise procedures are added which the doctor says must be done first. Those always involving some expensive drug product when you turn up for what is just a routine cleaning appointment. Before/without any tests are done to determine if you need it; on top of the dreaded patient-pays-for-x-rays are done.
I’m still steamed at my dentist office. Unnecessary X-rays, ignored my questions and left without fixing anything. Texted me a bill close to $400 within 4 hours. No dental insurance and unnecessary service, without asking permission. I was a number, not a patient. Service has gone down the drain and prices through the roof.
That shot was heard around the world. Our parasitic criminal elite definitely heard it.
That is awesome! Can you imagine if the subsidy went directly to consumers and they could put that money in an interest free HSA to spend as they wish on their own healthcare combined with a low cost major medical only policy? The primary problem with the government run healthcare is that it’s completely outside free market influence…by design. They ruined the health insurance industry by forcing insurance companies to cover serious preexisting conditions without underwriting. ACA subsidies = insurance company profits. it’s a big grift machine. Health insurance isn’t healthcare. Kudos to president Trump for recognizing it.
I read earlier/elsewhere that this new plan would somehow involve filing a tax return.
Imagine the thousands of illegal aliens or others eliminated from getting free health care from that alone.
RepubVet91 – I am a tax professional. Obamacare has always required the filing of a tax return. Every year, those on insurance via the marketplace are issued a form which details, by month, 1) the plan’s premiums in one column, the 2) the next lowest cost plan in the 2nd column, and 3) the subsidies (if any), provided for the specific plan in the last column.
As of now, those subsidies shown in column 3 go directly to the insurance company, and generally the individual on the plan pays the difference (if any) between columns 1 and 3 as a monthly premium.
All of this information is input to the tax return, along with the number of individuals on the plan, and the taxable income vs. % fed poverty level.
After the various factors are calculated, some receive a “premium tax credit” on their return, while others incur a liability for “excess advance payment” of the premium tax credit.
Where a premium tax credit is generated, this indicates the individual did not receive enough subsidy, and those who incur an excess advance payment received too much upfront subsidy.
As to Obamacare specifically, illegals are ineligible for the marketplace plans (some states allow it I believe), but in terms of tax returns, many illegals do file returns for various reasons – using a Tax Identification Number (TIN) issued by Fed Gov. One reason is if they earned income, regardless of legal status, they are still required to file a tax return., which is the reason the Fed Gov issues them a number. Other reasons include to claim credits and benefits particularly allowed by individual states.
So as to any new proposal, such as that suggested by President Trump, it makes sense to me that the subsidies and other information would still need to be tracked via the tax return, as the nature of Obamacare itself would not be changed, (that would require new legislation), only the way in which individuals receive the subsidies (directly vs. indirectly to the insurance company).
Very good info. Thank you.
A 57-year-old needs a $400K treatment and has $5K in her HSA.
$400,000 treatment…that’s insane…who is their customer base? Clearly not the average American. Only possible because of the government intervention in healthcare/health insurance. Whole thing is rigged to maximize profits for big pharma and hospital owners, etc. at the expense of taxpayers. Same situation with college and government student loans.
For a U. S
patient, two Ocrevus infusion treatments for Multiple Sclerosis are $150,000 each, dosed 6 months apart, plus an annual MRI, labs, and two neuro visits. Just by way of example.
Those prices are what the government-subsidized insurance companies says it costs, because they know Uncle Sam is kicking in.
It doesn’t necessarily reflect real costs by any means.
You are correct about the PRICE. However, the COST can be substantially less. I am an Infusion Nurse and almost without exception , every patient is subsidized. Most by the manufacturers of those expensive drugs, Octevus, Tysabri, etcétera. The hospital also has additional funding programs for patients.
It would be nice to stop the games of pharmaceutical companies. I don’t believe the current pricing model survives without the funds from government programs.
Indiemex, thank you for this comment. I should have mentioned that many drug manufacturers do offer co-pay assistance programs that defray the patient’s out of pocket –for patient’s with a commercial insurance plan.
Perhaps this is why healthcare is so expensive. Tucker Carlson interviews Brigham Buhler.
Brigham Buhler: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination, & the Mass Monetization of Chronic Illness
Not disagreeing about the rigged process, but, that is not unheard of regarding cancer treatment. Surgeries, ICU/hospital stays, chemo, radiation, implanted device for IV meds/hydration, transportation, home health, etcétera….
Considering all these astronomically priced pharma conveyor belt illnesses, Without subsidizing the outrageous prices, prices would come down, if not enough people would look to alternate solutions.
The outcomes of those alternate medicines, lifestyles and therapies would be honed and likely be very comparable in results to the latest pharma cocktatil for a fraction of the price.
Why would the patient pay any more than the insurance company is paying now?
HSA plans have an anual max out of pocket. Whatever that number is, is what should be funded. And with rollover, a person can rack up a substantial amount for an emergency.
Like a nation wide health savings account!
Mr. X gets $5K, of which $4K gets spent on testing. This indicates he needs a $26K operation.
Monopolies can get away with such pricing. True open competition can reduce such costs tremendously. See—Surgery Center of Oklahoma
Max out of pocket kicks in at some point, depends on plan.
No cash; just vouchers that can only be used to buy medical insurance. Too many people would squander the money and end up in the emergency room.
With an OD…that happens now w/snap and welfare funds.
I was told Dems hated BiLLi0nAiReS….didn’t they murder a USHealth CEO bc he was a filthy BiLLi0nAirE?
Doctors are arrogant….
Not nearly as arrogant as many of the people that pay nothing, abuse the system and threaten to sue any time something doesn’t go their way. People, in general, do not want to take accountability for their own contributions to their poor health.
Yet another common sense great idea from President Trump. This should also be very popular with maga and even the left.
And yes, the Senate Republicans need to end the filibuster now! It is insane to hold onto the filibuster while the country is shut down and the Democrats work to destroy our country.
Insurance is OUT OF CONTROL. Thank you, Mr. President. Mine has been jacking up my rates up to 33% (health, car, home, you name it), and the agent directly blamed inflation. Well, inflation is bad, but it hasn’t been 33% year over year, yet alone 6 months! Bottom line is car and health insurance have, if not a single company monopoly, a built-in, forced customer by law. As POTUS mentions, we should be able to negotiate with these companies for the policy/product we need. Corporate is using their formula to force me into more coverage than I want. Sell me the coverage I need, not what you need to sell me to keep your profit margins higher!
One reason why insurance cost are up so much for cars is first cars are much more technologically built. And the second reason is fraud. My husband was stopped at a light waiting to turn left. A vehicle was racing a yellow light and bumped into him. The other driver admitted to his mom he hit someone but when it all came down he filed a claim against our insurance and said my husband turned right and hit him. He also claimed physical injury. I spoke with the insurance company and they told me my husband told them he was turning right and hit the driver. I told them he didn’t tell them that but he insisted. We got hold of a supervisor who cleared it up and said the agent was looking at an older entry because the record was correct. Extreme eye roll here. So agent lied but in the end the insurance company, through their “investigation” decided by husband was at fault and paid out $1800 for some scratches, that we didn’t think matched the tiny ding on our vehicle, and $3500 for physical injury. I wanted to escalate this but my husband said he didn’t want the headache.
Try using your brain and realize that people are not going to be given money- cash. They will be given a healthcare voucher which can only be used to purchase health insurance.
Jeeez…
Some people here are really not thinking straight about this. Cash money is not going to be doled out. Instead, healthcare vouchers will be issued that can only be used to purchase health insurance policies.
The subsidies that have been letting the insurance companies get rich will be gone. Now they will have to compete in the marketplace like they did before Obamacare.
I think it will be necessary to get rid of the Obamacare crazy mandates. The Obamacare exchanges are too limiting, times to expand choices.
Bingo!!!
Males and menopausal women do not need obstetric care.
Also, prior to O’care, I was able to sign a waiver and exclude obstetrics coverage. If I had gotten pregnant I would have paid out of pocket. That option is no longer available. For anyone.
Could this idea work with coverage for pre-existing conditions?
How does one INSURE against something that has already happened?
Would you sell fire insurance to a guy whose house is already on fire?
How about auto insurance to a guy whose house is already had a car crash?
The very concept of INSURANCE is to hedge against POTENTIAL risk.
It is not to pay for things that have already happened.
That’s gonna get some undies in a bunch!
I can see a scenario where lots people have new cars but are running around saying they still can’t afford health care.
I just don’t think you can put the money in the hands of the people, most are way too irresponsible.
Maybe some kind of voucher system, but I’m from Oakland, one the capitals of trading food stamps for money so I’ve got my doubts.
The talk seems to be HSA accounts. You cannot use that money for anything except medical expenses.
You can’t use food stamps to buy booze and cigarettes either but I’ve been watching people do it for over 50 years.
Which retailer really takes Snap for cigs and booze and got reimbursed?
Just about all…
They ring it up as pork chops and chicken.
In that case, if you have proof, should you not report this or get the appropriate authorities to look into this?
Bodegas. 😏
Their website says to call. During open hours, yet, put everything on automated phone asking for phone, name and they will call back. Already iffy business.
We used a cost sharing option for healthcare coverage. Here’s one: Christian Healthcare Ministries,(CHM). Example: “CHM Gold” costs $255/month with a maximum coverage of $125K. Adding “CHM Plus” ($32/month) gives you unlimited coverage. Over the years we saved $10’s of thousands using cost sharing. https://healthsharingreviews.com/review/christian-healthcare-ministries-review/
From Don Trump’s lips to God’s ear!
Your room temp IQ is showing 😎
No one is saying eliminate health insurance!
Proposal is to give Fed $$$ now subsidizing insurers DIRECTLY to consumers, who can then use those $$$ to SHOP for health insurance!
Geez…
There are other treatments for cancer that includes a persons diet that’s prime purpose is to heal the body without killing it in the process of treatment.
Independent insurance companies will be formed, just like we had before BarryCare ran them out of business.
Please change your handle. You’re giving the rest of us boomers a bad name.
It’s no wonder the younger generations have so much contempt for boomers.
THIS post needs to be spread far and wide! He is throwing down the gauntlet at the feet of the RINO establishment – if people start contacting REPUBLICAN Representatives and demanding change to our utterly broken “healthcare” system, a year before the mid-terms, they will have to step up and do something or they will be voted out of office and they KNOW it! If they Democrats were smart (which they aren’t) THEY would jump on this and start proposing changes themselves. Everyone I know, Left, Right, Republican, Democrat, young and old, is complaining about the ever increasing costs and the absolute crappy level of care!
As if senate republicans would do anything that would benefit you and I.
Not a snowballs chance in hell that the weasels that identify as senate republicans would go up against the insurance lobby.
Or any other grifting lobby that makes these skumbags rich. The pharmaceutical lobby for example.
Do not expect any help whatsoever from the bought and paid for republican senators. They don’t work for you or me.
It is spectacular and beyond disgusting that the republican controlled senate is so pathetic that they can’t even terminate the filibuster.
A CEO was murdered and people are cheering his killer because they hate what health insurance companies do in denying care and the like. They might be more willing to listen unlike the demonic Dems.
Do yourself a favor and do not look up when it rains , cause you could drown. What you are describing is what one would expect from the dems.
Dip stick obviously you’ve been on welfare since 2007
Any docs out here a nurse does 4x the work for $30 an hour while Obama docs earn no less than 500K a year starting.
You must be in the South. On the West Coast, new grad RNs are starting at $40-45/hour. Unless they’re specialists and/or surgeons, docs are closer to $150-200K/year.
Wow! Way to stir the pot! Go Trump!!
The dems and the rinos with their shutdown FA and now they FO. They never imagined he would blow up their feeding trough like he just did.
There is no depth of destruction too deep for that wretched and diabolical system. My family suffered so greatly… it is criminal.
For us, The Lord will restore the years the locusts have eaten.
But for the creators and perpetrators of the greatest theft of wealth and health of the hardworking American people in our nation’s history… I’m sure there’s room in eternal hell for them. They intended it for our bondage and for their pilfering.
RFK Jr would have some power over this, wouldn’t he… or is this a “pet program” to his Democrat roots? It sure illicits an excellent “control mechanism” with the IRS as the jackboots.
Should have been abolished on day 1.
Someone explain what the role is for the BlueCoatFederals in medicine.
The taxpayers’ money should be returned to the taxpayers; no insurance company subsidies by the taxpayer are Constitutional.
Medical insurance was originally conceived to cover medical catastrophes, just like house and auto insurance.
Health “care” has morphed into this behemoth with insurance CEOs paid multiple millions, pharma, hospital CEOs on one end of the spectrum, and generational Medicaid abusers and millions of freeloading illegals on the other. The middle income tax paying American citizen, as always, gets squeezed from both ends.
The inability to purchase health insurance across state lines stifles competition and drives up prices. Thank your local congressman (and his or her lobbyist puppeteer) for failing, repeatedly, to get this changed.
Trump does here what he does best. Competition and consumer choice always leads to a better product at a lower price. Once citizens get a taste of this freedom, they’re not gonna want to return to being under the health “care” thumb.
He’s asking Congress to defy their donors. Let’s see who comes through…
That is what ObominableCare was based on from the get-go. Big Pharma had a big palmful of money for insurance CEOs, politicians, hospitals, healthcare providers, including insurance companies pushing Medicaid.
I love watching our president do his “think outside the box” routine on Congress!
Do not not recall who said it, but it resonates with our VG and special President Trump. ” Get the government OUT of Health Care. ”
Just another Crime Syndicate. Thank you Obummer.
Insurance companies love obamacare because they can do things like require 70-year-old men to purchase an insurance policy with pregnancy coverage.
They do the thing call ‘you have to sign up first to read what’s in it’.
