Retired Magistrate here: Yes, I had not heard anything about the Christian genocide in Nigeria until last Sunday when our pastor talked about it. I knew that Christians were being persecuted in Nigeria but I had no idea of the scope.
We do need to pray for President Trump. I think it was one of his pressers about a week ago where a reporter asked him if he thought he was going to heaven and President Trump stated that no, he didn’t think that he was, because there was nothing that he could do to get into heaven. I supposed this makes sense because growing up President Trump attended the church of Dr. Norman Vincent Peal who was a very works based pastor; i.e., the power of positive thinking.
I remember Dr Peal, Marcia.
I had not heard President Trump say that. I’d very much like to believe he is wrong. His good works done privately are just as Christ admonished us to do…in secret. He has contributed greatly to those who will always remember his generosity and big jeart.
At the latest mass burial after the Christian slaughter by Muslims, the pastor who oversaw the obsequies called out for President Trump as the only one on earth could help them.
I pray he hears him.

I would think there are opposing decision forces: not brining US into wars not ours and his promise not to do so, and the justice and protection due the Christians in the countries where they are being persecuted. Certainly requires Godly wisdom. I know many prayers are being offered by those who are blessed with resources to effect solutions. We should all be in prayer.
I am in no way suggesting we should become physically embroiled in this terrible genocide, doc.
But there are other ways, economic for example, or diplomatic.
So far President Trump has not uttered any word about these atrocities, though he is not alone. Neither has, shamefully, has Pope Leo. Any public pronouncement from our president might just draw universal attention to these horrible murders and church desecrations. I wish he would speak up, and do so loudly and forcefully at least.
In the end, we can all deploy our most potent weapon, prayer.

Evangelicals’ “theology” is the Bible. We are Bible believing churches. We do not follow man made traditions or rules which often have no basis in scripture. There have always been followers of Christ that followed scripture over man made traditions or rules.
To clarify mhart: the one “man-made tradition” evangelicals follow is the New Testament Canon of Scripture. This canon was not of course provided by God, but selected for each book by the men and traditions of the Catholic church. Everything you accept as “biblical” about Jesus Christ was selected for you from the “traditions” of Catholic priests and bishops.
