If the current status is maintained the “non-essential” part of govt will shut down on October 1st. There is no incentive for the White House to avoid a partial shutdown when OMB Director Russ Vought can then determine what functions of government are defined as essential and non-essential.
Director Vought has told various agencies to prepare for permanent reductions in force if the government shuts down. [READ MEMO HERE] Speaker Mike Johnson outlines some of the specific flaws in the argument of the Democrats on the shutdown issue. WATCH:

FAFO, Baby !!!!!!!!
Love that, Betsy!
These moments of trying to guess what He might do are just awesome to watch.
What God might do? I learned that was the only time to capitalize He, in the middle of a sentence, was when referring to God.
What does it mean? the FA/FO
Anyway, as far as shutdown, perfect opportunity to fire a bunch of communists.
FA/FO
F*** around, and Find Out.
The supports of our nation have been allowed to rot. On closer examination it seems to be a mass infestation of wordworm(s) which have eaten through.
The opportunity rid the edifice which is America of this disease will not present itself many more times, if ever.
And so carry on, Mr President. You are a builder who knows what needs to be done to keep us from financial and economic collapse.
But please…
Do no forget when you get down to the base to replace the Cornerstone which was removed so long ago …and without which no nation can stand 🙏🏻
“I have spent well-nigh fifty years working on the history of our Revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous Revolution that swallowed up some sixty million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat:
Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”
~Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
How many FBI agents can be considered non-essential?
All of them!
At least 274.
AMEN – Still broken-hearted over what happened to my fellow Americans at J6. We the People saw and understood what was happening as it unfolded.
In the video I saw where Tapper was peddling, they were embedded for “crowd control” BS.
They must think we are as stupid …”Crowd Control” my hiney – to put it delicately.
What’s the total number of FBI agents? There’s your answer.
At least 274.
Plus all the bosses.
How many senators and congressmen and women, which, unfortunately, aren’t in any danger of unemployment, are surplus to requirements is the question I ask.
From where I’m sitting?
535.
The President of the United States determines who is essential. If Trump decides that 100% of the FBI is non essential then that’s it.
BINGO!!!
“History is cluttered with the wreckage of nations that became indifferent to God, and died.”
-Whitaker Chambers
History is replete with examples. But as usual, the lessons are forgotten, assuming that they were ever learned in the first instance.
Amen Betsy
Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

The Light of Charlie emblazoned all of Humanity
A great gift at the moment of decision.
Now is the Time
Now is the Hour
We must be steadfast
Humble
But steadfast
Amen, Kathie.
Love the Seal!! To quote a popular refrain: “This is what I voted for!!”
🏴🏴🏴
Very clever!
Why Miss Betsy such language 😉
Better???
(I keep a more ladylike one in reserve 😉😘)
Ah, so very zen of you, Betsy Jones!
😎 😁
LOL
>smile<
Such foul language from our lovely Betsy Jones! 😂
A slip I assure you, Chris…we all have our moments 😊
Sis, there is always the ladylike “Southern Stare”….
She’s already made one appearance today, Aggie 😊
>smile, again<
I borrowed your image – love it!
A massive reduction in government positions would justify allowing the government to shut down. That alone is a worthy purpose and the only way a massive reduction will ever happen.
MAGA voted for a reduction in government. Shut it down in order to accomplish a massive reduction.
Clean up the collateral damage afterward.
Send all H1B VISAs back home. These federal workers can be restrained and emplayed, maybe- depends on work ethic.
💯
Ya know the Marxist revolutionaries are going to try and use this to get their “newly mented sacked assets”, to riot. lol
I think most have prepaired accordingly. Let the RIF’s begin.
Yes, we are shutting down the government for government funded trans surgeries! Winner.
Cutting off a hell of a lot more than that abomination.
This is a no win situation for Chuck and Nancy, Mitch and whatever rino sidekick he is needing this week.
Never underestimate beltway repubs ability to screw up a good hand and give the Dems an out.
Shut it down.
Then fire the lefty government employees by the hundreds of thousands.
How many times have we been teased with a shutdown that NEVER happens…
We had one or two in the 1990’s.
I lived through two in the 1990s — as a Federal employee.
Do it! Shut it down!
This would be great.
I fully support the shutdown to implement mass layoffs of lazy, nonessential govt bureaucrats. Dems should b impeached for holding the spending pkg hostage to demand hundreds of billions in free healthcare for illegal aliens.
WHATEVER IT TAKES… GOD BLESS OUR REPUBLIC
The interesting part is that “IF” the Republicans do not cave …. The government has to operate within the limits of tax revenues and cash on-hand …. it would be a “BALANCED BUDGET” operation by default …. something President Trump “proposed” 4 time 2017-2020 and again in 2025, but Congress could not be bothered to implement.
…. and DOGE gave a head start to identifying what can be “shut down” without impacting meaningful government operations and meeting “benefit” or debt obligations.
All the President has to do is sit back and govern, along side any Congress Critters with the guts to support him.
this entire thing seems to be just a great way to run more time off the Trump II clock without doing any lasting damage to the DC swamp.
I realize this happens every year, but the GOP must be giddy about this. It takes them through EOY without doing anything significant. You can call it scripted political theater if you like, but it’s a horrid betrayal of the voters that risked life and limb to vote these MoFo’s into office so we could save America.
Lesser of two evils people say……..
Well, if he axes 100K, 200K positions, that’s progress.
Then enact a big rescission bill.
Why leave DOD alone w a $1 Trillion budget? Is Hegseth going to relieve some generals of their command this week?
It’s DOW now. DOD is an obsolete acronym.
Popcorn time….
Shut it down permanently.
Imagine if people had to engage in commerce among themselves in order to secure a living. Imagine if the government removed sundry arbitrary and punitive taxes and licenses and constraints to allow freer commerce.
Fewer federal employees would be required to implement and oversee, fewer salaries would be required, more commerce would ensue without undue overhead, and the state governments would have to step in wherever necessary to fill any gaps. State level governance would then be subject to voter approval or ire as a result, making each state a better laboratory for figuring out how much interference is really warranted and at what cost.
Federal employees would add to the labor pool–and since unfettered immigration and H1-B demand seem to point to a lack of labor supply–win, win.
I don’t want to fund paid vacations for government employees. If we’re shutting down close departments, take people off the payroll permanently. The government shutdown is because we don’t have the money, so start seriously cutting.
I have a number of friends that worked at the CDC. They all lost their jobs, which I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
But the number of overseas vacations they went on, on an ongoing basis was mind numbing. “We just got back from…..”
3-4 times a year. At least a week at a shot. Yes, I was jealous. Yes, they had multiple degrees, and made big $$$.
But nobody working private sector jobs would’ve been able to take that time off, cover all the bills.
So, I lament their loss of jobs, but what our tax dollars paid for them to be able to do was crazy.
That being said, I hope they all find jobs soon.
What did the nation get from them during their employment that rated the expense?
??
Some of the research they spoke about pre covid was useful. After Covid, some of the less brainwashed
ones had mis givings about how everything was being directed at covid, at the loss of other research.
I don’t think we got much bang for our buck, all things considered.
Yes jobs that contribute.
Traditionally working for government was not particularly well paid, compared to comparative jobs in the private sector, but a generous pension, sense of service, work security, and reasonable promotion prospects compensated. Then somewhere down the line they decided they’d like the benefits of a good salary as well and decided we’d have to pay for it.
Losing a job is unfortunate.
If they could afford to go on such vacations then wisdom would dictate setting aside money for multiple months worth of living expenses in case of disruptions to regular income.
If they lived beyond their means on top of that, that’s their problem.
How many were paid for by Pfizer or Bayer or a ‘conference’?
Exactly.
The Democrats lost the last government shutdown blame game. I don’t know how they can possibly think they will win this one.
Dems don’t “think”, they “feel”.
It appears to me that the Dems do not feel very well nowadays.
One can surmise that they are not thinking very well either.
Take it to the ground and don’t bring it back.
Pay off the debt with the money saved . If anything is left over, give it back to the taxpayers.
Our lives would be infinitely richer.
Looks like we will have plenty of our Fall “vegetable pickers” on the ready.
Hmm… Who thinks those candy-a$$e$ are likely to be doing anything remotely as productive as picking vegetables?
Now would be a good time for many in Washington DC to reserve their UHaul trucks and trailers in preparation for their being permanently kicked out of federal government. Avoid the last-minute rush !
A bunch of those folks should have taken the fork in the road while it was available.
Oh PUL-EEEZE don’t throw me into that briar patch!!!
Do it already! SHUT IT DOWN!!
I hope their are lots and lots and lots people fired!!!!
That’s what I want for Christmas 🎄
Government shutdown because of Democrat demands? Do not threaten me with a good time.
Pass the popcorn 🍿 please.
I wonder if this is tipping our hand……. might have been better to just keep quiet about ‘non-essential’ positions and just fired the whole lot of them.
Everyone who is watching porn on their gubt computers, including all the contractors. This should be easy peasy.
Obama and Clinton targeted their budget shutdowns at things the public supported, like national parks and passports. Maximum pain for ordinary Americans to shape anger at R’s for shutting down the government they liked.
Trump has an opportunity to target this shutdown at things the public opposes, like the DOGE waste, spending Rino’s and D’s larded up their budget bill with that few Americans support, want to see gone.
Vought can do this. And make ordinary Americans not see or feel any pain. A budget shutdown that nobody misses or cares about but the radical left.
Win! Please, no budget agreement! Pretty please!
Go ahead and let the democrats shut it down and have a large Federal RIF to reduce government and spending…bill
“Director Vought has told various agencies to prepare for permanent reductions in force if the government shuts down”
I vote for the 600 to 800 generals and admirals that the SecWar has ordered to come before him.
👍
Washington D.C. would starve. Just think of all the uniform fruit salad gone from the city with all those fired generals and admirals. /s
Colonel MacGregor says we ran WWII with 7 four-star generals and admirals.
Now we have around 50, and we can’t produce ammo after four years of a proxy war w Russia.
And we’re ready to amp up the Russia war via Europe?
Truth be told, certain financial investments were made, and the holders will not abide “losing” money and will send economic hitmen to collect on it.
It’s a bankers war, only the latest in a long history of them.
I sincerely hope that the spineless, feckless GOP doesn’t give the Dems even a tiny thing in return for their aye vote on the CR 🙂
I fervently hope that the Dems call the GOP bluff, and that Trump gets the power to significantly cut a lot of FED fat out.
I guess we find out Wednesday 🙂
Will Judge Boasberg or Chutkan allow the Federal Government ‘Shutdown’???? Jokingly, isn’t the Federal Judiciary running the Country??? SCOTUS refuses to Reign in the corrupt Judges….
On a more serious note……Does the Federal Government actually ‘Shutdown’????? No……What actually does ‘Shutdown’ mean???? Can someone please explain??? I know the answer, but this ‘Shutdown’ word is used like the ‘Racist’ or ‘Democracy’ word…..It’s ridiculous……
What happens is that the Federal government has to operate on current revenues only — they can’t borrow to make up the difference.
So Trump gets to decide what parts of government will get funded by the current funding coming in.
The Dems surely don’t want that?????
Assuming that is correct then that would be a complete Win!! Although, I’d expect some arcane rule/law to be ‘dusted off’ by one of the rouge Federal Judge’s…..
Major entitlement spending runs on autopilot and the checks go out as usual. Both Social Security and Medicare (CMS) receive their own designated taxes. That kind of segregates SS and CMS from the general fund.
What I am waiting to see is what happens to the operating money for the Federal Reserve. The Fed is supposed to provide their own operating money from their profits. Unless something has changed in the very recent past, the Fed has not been turning a profit. There is a video of the Fed’s CEO (or whatever) trying to bluff Senator Kennedy into giving the Fed money to pay the help and keep the lights on. If there is money flowing from the general fund, the Fed is vulnerable to shutdown provisions. Otherwise, it might be time to audit those construction expenses for the Fed palace in case money has been leaking into the Fed’s operating account.
Hoping for some entertainment at the expense of the Fed.
Shut it down!
Big Winamin A Coming! But make sure there’s sufficient monies to drag Comey and Mustachio John through the legal and financial ruin ringer! 😎
If need be, start a go fund me for the prosecution budget.
What happens when the GOPe caves after shutdown, and passes piles of borrowed money to rehire the discharged ’employees’?
Would PDJT sign it into law?
When the GOPe caves, will they pass tons of borrowed money with a supermajority, to overcome a veto?
I have little, if any, trust in the GOPe congresscritters.
Shut it down..fire 90%.
I think what bothers me most about this interview is Johnson switching to another subject when he gets a tough question rather than directly answering the question. The actual answer may not be 100% favorable, but you keep your credibility intact. I think that counts for more in my book than weaseling around.
Bad answer Mike, the J6ers were held accountable unlike Antifa….until now.
No negotiations? Continuing Xiden & Empress Piglosi’s budget IS a compromise.
Shucks… that’s it? Well that’s what happens when you’re the minority party.
The Dem leaders are watching their party circle the drain, and so causing as much chaos as possible to try to distract voters. They created a monster via the prolonged incitement of their base, and so now are obliged to double down on the nuttery. They’re extremely dangerous now, in their desperation, and I pray for the safety of S.Miller, PDJT, and Team Trump.
Speaker Johnson has a delighted, FAFO grin in the CNN screengrab that leads this article.
The Federal government never shuts down. Every time these statements are made threatening a shutdown are purely for optics, and anytime this occurs, furloughed FedEmployees regain all their back pay. It’s another smokescreen.
Now is that the positive attitude you want to go around in life with. It’s going to stunt your growth.
Not really, my long history of watching these things…and others who have discussed this subject at length…metes it out. Never once did a so-called shutdown occur with consequence. My hope is this time around the dead wood will be eliminated for a leaner FedGov. “Burning it all down” is not a workable option….and PDJT knows this, so does Speaker Johnson.
I do not think in this time……
I wish that the list of government “workers” eligible for firing during a shutdown included members of Congress.
no pay, and no insider stock purchases (or silent/secret gift ‘partnerships’ in new ventures) in the interim.
The dopey Dem’s finally paring down Big Government, PDJT is laughing his as off
That’s hysterical! ROFLMAO 🙂
“What me worry”?
Democrats are doing the right thing here by not backing down.
One of the core tenants of Project 2025 is is gutting the federal civil service and replacing professionals with loyalists. The Trump administration was planning to do this, anyway. Democrats know this.
Privatization is the end goal here for Republicans. I hope all of you are saving your pesos.
Thank you for your input however you lost me a democrats doing the right thing.
I sure hope you are right that the Dems are STUOID enough to give Trump the authority to significantly downsize the bloated Federal Government 😎
If the money paid into SS on my behalf was in the market I would be much better off!
“….replacing professionals with loyalists” – Do you mean loyalist to our Constitution and the American people? Seems like would be and improvement.
Thanks, communist, for your worthless opinion. Calling the federal civil service “professionals” is laughable. They are communist agitators paid with taxpayer dollars. If it were up to me, they would all be fired – every last one. 99.9% of them are completely useless and an utter waste of taxpayer money. Privatize you say? No – no one wants to privatize waste. Permanent elimination of these wasteful jobs is the goal – and guess what? The American people agree with it. You losers are part of the waste, and it’s time to take out the trash.
“Cuts may be permanent, not just temporary layoffs”
This is long overdue.
Gee, I wonder if someone will sue?
Some judge will issue a restraining order at 2345 on September 30…..
Fine.
Let the judge pay their over priced salaries.
I agree with shutting down the govt to shrink the govt permanently, but let’s be honest: for any govt employees retained, it’s a paid vacation during the beautiful Fall season—they even continue to accrue sick leave and vacation hours during shut down.
They need to forfeit those benefit days…?
Democrats are in a bad position. Their constituents don’t want them to cave, yet the hire ups know what will happen. President Trump will green light getting rid of government employees permanently. I hope someone has a list of possible lefties that are willing to buck the Presidents initiatives. What a get opportunity
So Secretary Hegseth is meeting on Sept. 30th with the 800 big brass. PDJT is also appearing.
Interesting timing.
….ML…? permanent cut off in the federal jobs???…cut off all fat in DoD ???, real massive deportation seen on TV screens ????…my intuition we will see something drastic…….after all it’s about the time….
Starve the beast
Don’t give the dems an inch, go ahead and shut it down. We have survived previous “shut downs”, and most of us probably didn’t even notice any real difference in our lives one way or another.
On the other hand, IF (big IF), Johnson had actually done his job, there would be about a dozen budget bills passed by the House and sitting in the Senate right now and we would not need yet another “one last CR” – clean or otherwise. So my message to the GOP “establishment” and “leadership” is do your damn job! No more omnibus bills! No more CRs! Just pass a clean budget, preferably a balanced one.
Yes!
I am sick of the runaway CR gravy train!
There is absolutely no reason for Johnson to even try to avoid a “shutdown.”
Every continuing resolution merely extends the graft and corruption crooked legislators, from both sides, purposely baked into the process.
Shut it all down!
The problem is that Johnson hasn’t passed ALL the appropriations bills over to the Senate. So he NEEDS a CR to finish his own darn job….
Effing Jake Tappedout couldn’t score points by trying to push lies so he ends the program by bringing up Epstein… I wonder what he’s going to say when it’s proven that the Clinton‘s, Obama‘s and Biden‘s were some of the most prominent visitors to the island via the express.
