U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the media in Mexico City amidst his tour of Latin America, underscoring U.S. efforts to confront drug cartels, curb migration, and boost regional security cooperation. Mexico is being squeezed economically with increased internal pressure by cartels about sovereignty, Mexico seeks balanced collaboration. WATCH:

Forget Mexico…At its narrowest…there is a fifty mile stretch of land, to be concerned about….
If ever there was a good reason for a US led regime change this would be it. Not quite in favor of it but “I would understand if they did.”
So just that I get it right, you and 11 upvoters are advocating for the US to regime change Mexico, with the assumption then that the US government could then make a better country out of Mexico than they could do out of the US?
Just saying with current US policy 60% of US population is on prescription drugs, and there are about 4 to 7 million estimated fentanyl users. And more could be done to elevate people out of poverty and “American Dream” and all, so they do not resort to drugs and crime.
Also maybe want to start with fixing past regime change operations such as Libya rebuilding (failed regime change) and Syria (christians being murdered and a known terrorist at the Helm etc.) And Ukraine of course, 2 million dead and wounded and counting.
Sorry if my response is a bit jaded against regime changes.
Our previous warfighters in the Mexican-American War had the right idea … They looked around & decided that taking more than the Cession lands would be a dead loss. Still applies.
I have to agree. No more regime changes. The people have to want it. The leaders have to want it. See bukele in el salvador
“If ever there was a good reason for a US led regime change……………..”
Because, whenever the US meddles in another nation’s affairs it always works out so well for everyone………/
Well we did get it right twice in my opinion. Once in Europe and once in Asia. I believe most would agree that both Germany and Japan are better off both domestically and internationally than their previous systems. Yeah a little tongue in cheek right there. But of course I agree with you.
This is not a good take.
Coming from Ca. I have heard enough Spanish to last a lifetime. “Mayans didn’t speak Spanish you know?”, generated confused stares.
Same thing in South Florida. 😡
It seems to me I’ve heard MORE Spanish here in Lee County (the most Republican county) Florida, than I ever have in the past. At the DMV, every number announcement and window allocation was echoed in Spanish. Luckily I had an appointment and didn’t have to sit there for FOUR HOURS to get my license renewed.
This is happening ALL across America………. ON PURPOSE! 🤬
I did NOT vote to be replaced by ONE HUNDRED MILLION (legal and illegal) Hispanics, barely assimilating, if at all. 😡
We have GOT to start reversing all of THIS, or America, as we’ve known it, WILL be lost.
Was born and lived in Lee County all of my life except for college years. No doubt this area has changed. Went to a sports bar last weekend to watch some football and more than half of the crowd was Latin.
The USA has changed, purposeful/political change, otherwise the democrat party would be history.
That swagger has been slowly eaten up by asleep at the wheel Washington DC.
And you should see how full the social security office is here in Pittsburgh. Unbelievable. I was the only Caucasian in the joint.
North Florida is the same as other places.
Jacksonville has been flooded with illegal aliens.
Many of them are in jail (according to some personal sources) and are awaiting deportation. Hoping busloads of them are driven down to Alligator Alcatraz. The LEGAL Hispanics voted for Trump the last two elections!
So have little towns in the hills of East Tennessee. Appalachia is soon to have worries it doesn’t deserve.
Love your question. I still ask a similar question which I learned in Anthropology class in 1983. Q: Name the top 3 civilization-limiting items that Native American lacked at the time of Spanish & European exploration? A: The wheel, the horse/donkey and a written language with alphabet.
Prior to 1492 the most advanced of the Central and South America civilizations were in the Bronze Age, while all the rest of Native America from the Arctic to the Drake Passage were in the Stone Age, and not many of those had reached as far as the Neolithic. None had entered the Iron Age.
“Bronze Age” has no meaning for the Americas. “Classic” and “Post-classic” are more accepted. The Aztecs are representative of Post-classic, and within “New Spain” Mexico properly refers to the lands of the Aztec Empire.
Same in Colorado.
The Mayans stole the land from the Olmecs.
And they stole it from someone else. We need a better class of conquers.
I am pleased to hear Mr. Rubio speaking fluently in Spanish. We have had situations where people have said one thing in English and then a message distinctly different in another language. I want for my kids to learn as many languages as possible so they can discern and make intelligent decisions. Thank you Marco Rubio
Secretary Rubio was born in Miami – his parents were Cuban immigrants, so no doubt, he was raised to speak Spanish conversationally at home! And interestingly, the family attended a Mormon temple in Las Vegas, when his parents worked there!

Don’t “diss” the south Florida LEGAL Hispanics – they pretty much all in a bloc flipped for Trump in the 2020 election and then again in the 2024 election even more so! (Sign me – Trump campaign staff worker in NE FL in 2020)
Just as many of the Indian community did in Texas after the Trump – Modi visit.
I wish this would happen in Orange and Osceola County in Central Florida. We have a HUGE Hispanic population in Central Florida and all we get is more democrats. Not a single Republican in the Orange County government.
Because they are mostly Puerto Rican there, I believe.
Puerto Rico.
However, they STILL, FOR THE MOST PART, do not do us the basic respect of learning our language. Irritating as hell.
Having been a world traveler, & having been to every former Spanish colony in the world except the Canaries, Chile, & Paraguay, I can assure you that the language group LEAST willing to learn English are Spanish speakers. Into the 3rd & 4th generation MX-Americans in Texas, the speak NO English in the home.
The Mexican government needs to decide if they are going to support the cartels or the people of Mexico. They can’t do both.
Sadly, it should be assumed the current Mexican government operates under the control of the cartels. Mexico is probably silently cheering on the US taking the fight to the cartels. Those cartels are so deeply ingrained in Mexico and other Latin American nations, an wholesale change in certain governments will only happen when the US is successful in destroying the cartels.
It is a deadly situation for ordinary people and those who would improve the situation.
https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2024-05-29/mexico-election-violence-cartel-killings-candidates
The elites that didn’t return to Spain back in the day, from which the present day ruling class evolved from, we’re Not warriors or conquers. They paid or coerced the indigenous populations to do the hard stuff.
The US federal government needs to decide if they are going to support Democrats’ big pharma or Americans. They can’t do both.
Just thinking out loud here … but if Drug Cartels are now terrorist organizations then they get the same treatment as the others we eliminate … a Special Forces Team with a designator or satellite linked to a Hellfire or Smart Weapon sounds like a great option.
“Mexico seeks balanced collaboration.”
Collaboration with who? The cartels? You can’t partner with a government which is already partnered with organized crime.
What are you trying to say???
Where did my comment say anything about “collaboration”?
A Joint Agency US Team does ALL the finding and engaging just as they do around the globe. Piss on Mexican or any other Central-South American Cooperation. These A-Holes could care less about the sovereignty of the US when they allow their criminals to operate against the US and they have no problems trafficking their problems to the US … so we return the favor.
Collaboration was if the article. Confusing to me since how can they collaborate with themselves? Maybe that’s the Mexican version of Uniparty “reaching across the aisle?”
In regards to the disappearing drug runners, we have a new meaning for ‘gunboat’ diplomacy
That wasn’t “diplomacy”; that was pure raw defense.
We need more of it. Raw, confirmed, unapologetic and unrestrained procedures to destroy the drug running modalities and as many of the committed demon-possessed criminals actively partaking in them.
Aggressive diplomacy?
Hah! Kind of an oxymoron, eh?
Whatever works – as long as it gets the message across to those who need to hear it…..
Aggressive diplomacy?
Diplomacy with a spanking
The DRUG Runners are now terrorists by definition and legitimate targets.
I kind of like Rubio speaking Spanish…he seems much more at home and himself…
Just like most of South Florida.
I kind of like hearing ENGLISH! 😉🤬
Me too!
Thank heavens for YouTube’s auto-translation feature that I had to switch on.
Rubio spoke with FAR more blunt language and specifics than did the Mexican Chancellor, who seemed to prefer magnanimous generalities….
Definitely an asset! Not only speaking but understanding the body language, the culture, etc.
The thing is that most of the rest of the Latin American nationalities look down upon the Cubanos.
And vice-versa. Actually, I have heard from several of my employees from Latin America that almost everybody thinks that Mexicans are the dregs.
Mexican culture is VERY DIFFERENT from Cuban culture.
Gives SS street creed in SA. Not a bad deal for the country.
Vance better start learning some Spanish.
He probably knows Hindi, which means he can communicate with all the H1B visa holders that will be working in all the new factories Trump is supposed to be attracting. What other 2 persons do you know can communicate with that many millions of people in America?
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Unfortunately true.
Mr Rubio continues to impress with an absolutely virtuoso performance… in two languages!
Still trying to reconcile the Rubio of the last 6 months with the decades of the previous Rubio. He was a scumbag for a long time. Now he’s ultra MAGA, and super competent. I enjoy this incarnation of Rubio. Im not entirely convinced yet though. And so many super important responsibilities (which means real power). It’s just hard to fathom.
Well said.
Imho, Rubio was born for this role…just as Kennedy was born for his role.
I feel the same.
He mistakenly jumped on the McCain train early on; major mistake. Hopefully he has found his own ground once again.
Very nice code switching. Genial, easy in both languages. He’s able to moderate his Cuban accent for the occasion. And there’s no mistaking in either language that there’s an iron fist in the glove and why, done so smoothly.
So sick of journalists and their speeches. Rubio is much more polite than I would be. What’s your question? Ask it, and sit down.
That’s just not the way its done in LA. You REALLY have to read between the lines.
The Mexican government is the head of the cartel and the locations of their drug manufacturing is known and should receive the same projectiles as the Venezuela traffickers received
How about the same ordnance as Iran recently received courtesy of some B2 bombers?
I wonder how many expats are living in Mexico. The cartels, for the most part, do not bother them. An unspoken agreement. Americans brings prosperity to Mexicans, the small mom and pop shops, and many other services, in those areas where expats frequent are kept in business. And then there is the tourism that is important to Mexico. And all the manufacturing that moved to Mexico. And the cross border workers who bring money home, etc. Mexico has a lot to gain by partnering with America. The cartels have hugely profitted from the worst of Americans (drugs, sex, guns). So far, Trump’s approach to Mexico, in my view, has been even handed. I don’t know enough to have any other view. I personally, having only been to Mexico a couple of times, don’t view it as a safe country. I know others disagree.
“And then there is the tourism that is important to Mexico”
The cartels are major property owners in the tourist hot spots.
Not a dime to help Mexico
Typically, the wealthy and politically connected receive exceptional protection from the police. = This is true >everywhere. … I would think, Americans who choose to live in Mexico should look to live in ‘special’ areas receiving extraordinary policing from the government and the criminal cartels.
An indicator of when a country is starting to fall apart as a society, is when the police and private security can no longer protect the wealthy and politically connected from criminals. … Besides the police, the wealthy hire private security to patrol neighborhoods by cars and on foot.
“Police officers arrived at the Pelosi residence within approximately >>two minutes of the initial 911 call, as body camera footage shows they were already at the scene and knocking on the door when the attack occurred at 2:31 a.m. on October 28, 2022.” [AI Internet about the Nancy and Paul Pelosi home ‘invasion’ where Paul Pelosi ended receiving a head banging with a hammer [by an >illegal alien (David DePape) from Canada].
*****************
The ‘privileges’ received by certain groups in our society is documented elsewhere on the Internet. Many special privileges that occur for the wealthy and political connected have become more widely known with the Internet. … The wealthy and politicians want to cloak this information their version of an ‘Omerta’ – Mafia code of silence.
****************
As a note from the BBC (to the world) November 10,2023, = “David DePape believed Mrs Pelosi was part of a plot to “manipulate the country” and “steal votes from Donald Trump”, a court in San Francisco heard.”
[There is an open conspiracy by the FAKE news to demonize Trump and his MAGA supporters. +Look how the ‘news’ is demonizing Rober Kennedy jr. MAHA. for helping trump remove ‘possible poisons’ from our food.
I’ve been going to Mexico since 1969, I was 3 years old. The people are very kind and live their lives like we do. Family is the number one priority.
The only difference between us and them, is they know their government is corrupt, they don’t hide it! Aside from that, they despise the cartels as much as we do.
It’s not a partnership if only one side benefits.
Could that “reporter” ask a longer question? Yikes. I too hated Rubio as the silent member of the Gang of 8.
Marco 2.0 is pretty impressive, and I see a great advantage in having a bilingual SoS.
Marco Rubio addressed the media in Mexico City along side Cartel member and President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum….
Sheinbaum isn’t smiling, she is grimacing like a trapped animal
Good catch…noticed that, as well.
If she was smart she would be finding ways to cut her ties with the cartels and have a fresh start.
Might be the last thing she did.
More likely Sheinbaum is probably the President of Mexico ONLY BECAUSE the cartels put her there.
She’s not that smart. I’ve been watching her carefully. She’s WEF, and IMO, brought in by AMLO to usher in a digital ID.
The truly dangerous part of the gov’t is the legislative body, both houses w/large majorities of MORENA … Hard left Bolsheviks, who despise even the smallest iota of a Rule of Law (& MX has so little of it anyway).
They voted to remove the only check on gov’t overreach, the Supreme Court appointment placement, went to “elected” SC, so they can steal that, too.
Mexico is on the precipice.
I’m never against taking out cartels and I’ve seen things people don’t want to see and I wish I was making that up.
Cartels have been using Drones for a while now so I agree with Secretary Rubio on that issue. He did an astounding job up there.
.
Rubio is looking very competent.
.
No way this woman was legit elected by the people. Too much at stake.
I personally think that Mexico needs to recognize that it needs help, perhaps including military help, in gaining control from these cartels.
The very last country that MX would ask for help would be the US. They resent us terribly. Envy, mostly. I think the whole country suffers from a huge inferiority complex. But they won’t deal with it.
All manner of hell is going to break loose if the cartels are meddled with as they are imbedded in every aspect of MX’s functions. Will be a complete shite show.
The USA and Mexico have been at “war” for decades.
The USA is losing.
Are you proud, rhetorical babbler?
We won’t be losing as long as P. Trump is in charge.
There should not be any pretense that organized crime stops at the Mexican border, and that the US is a holy land where everyone sticks to the rules.
For years huge chunks of border have been allowed to go open and unsupervised (the big gaping hole in Arizona for one) and drug mules were observed daily travelling those routes. They are only able to do this if someone allows them to do this. On the US side.
Does anybody know for sure the state now of the US border or are we just going to go with the press release that its A-OK now? Nothing more to worry about since Jan 2025?
Just saying instead of pointing fingers at Mexico and China a huge chunk of the problem is in the US internally.
But it seems like glitzy press conferences are geared towards pointing the finger outward.
And drug policy seems to be now become a foreign policy tool to press “regime change” and blackmail/coercion, more so than making people stop using drugs.
Less drug users = less drug demand = less drug traficking = less criminal activity
The cartels completely own the government. That new president is merely a figurehead who does as she is told. It’s a totally different culture down there. The regular people are lovely. I absolutely agree with you about drug users. It’s supply & demand – if there wasn’t demand for that garbage, there wouldn’t be so much supply! I watched an interview several years ago and Jaeson Jones said that the cartels run everything 30 miles into the USA along the border. My dad was a Customs Inspector from 1963-1990 and he was forever making big drug busts. It can only have gotten worse.
https://jaesonjones.com/
More than likely the Cartels own a lot of the Democrat/Uniparty government in the US.. Why else would you let your city be a criminal cesspool? Chicago is the main hub for one of the cartels and Pritzker and the Mayor do not want help? Lot of the Democrats in DC like corruption too. We have a full time job trying to save the US.
Another viewpoint is instead of seeing The Government and Criminal Syndicates, you can view the government as a “type of” criminal syndicate.
Only the one that is labelled “the government” is supposed to be able to legally extort money from you through taxes, threaten your home, family, livelihood if you dont pay property taxes, etc. 🙂
I’ve seen him doing vital border stuff for at least 15 years. Excellent.
“Making people stop using drugs”? Are you serious?
“with increased internal pressure by cartels about sovereignty, Mexico seeks balanced collaboration.”
Balanced between the Mexican & US governments and between the Mexican government and the cartels, who have bought and pocketed the Mexican politicians.
You get to vote once every 4 years, and a bribe gets to vote every day.
Who do you suppose will win, the voter or the briber?
Tough proposition.
Mex/Venz are cartel countries with inside support from US silo owners as well as Xhina and key ME countries.
Tell me why I am wrong.
Trump needs to put a tax of 25% on all remittances sent to Mexico and have Rubio tell this cartel owned leader of Mexico that not only is the US going to send all the illegal aliens living in the US that are from Mexico back to Mexico but the US will continue to have her cartel ‘buddies’ brought to the US and put in jail for their part and if the trail leads to Mexico’s leaders they will be indicted and put in jail also. Mexico is a cartel owned organization organization parading around as a country.
Where I am probably 90% of the remittances are digital transfers or bank to bank in the same method. It would be upending to try and tax those especially when most are legitimate.
Border Hawk News

I’m waiting for the cartels to get mad and screw up enough so we can have a whack-a-mole good time with them.
Well, since MX has lost badly the first two wars it waged against the Republic of Tx and then the USA, that included both later Generals Robert E. Lee and Ulysses Grant, ya think the current MX Drug Cartel controlled MX Govt wants to make it now three in a row?
If so, hope these drug dealing terrorists try to invade across the “Gulf of America”! Kaboom!
Of course the Dims are screaming at PDJT now for giving the drug dealing terrorist mariners their instant, well deserved “Due Process” this week.
If your kickback giving drug dealing pals go instant red mist at sea wouldn’t you be pizzed about losing your huge easy revenue hauls ever since Biden opened the border to aid their biz?
Give’em Hell-o, Sec Marko.
Dump her pockets for drug money. Mexico is a narcostate, change my mind.
You have to understand the obliqueness of Mexican accusation. The “gunboat diplomacy” question was a direct attack and insult to the US (from 100 years ago), as was the 2nd question.
The 3rd “question” was ALSO an accusation, (“the reason that we have cartels is because the US sells them armaments”).
THIS is the MX way of dealing with things … “Blame someone else”, is the reason that it will never be a 1st-world country. Because its always someone else’s fault. FOREVER.
MX is VERY PARANOID about US involvement in its internal affairs, because they won’t clean up their own act, nor will they be a good neighbor, nothing.
Rubio was magnificent, but I don’t hold out much hope for a good resolution.
